Cairo...Officials of National Democratic Party resign! President Mubarak digs in heels!

Like the events of this past week in Cairo - today's announcement that Egyptian officials (including President Mubarak) had resigned from the governing National Democratic Party - ended up being a murky distortion of the truth.

It didn't help matters much that one of Egypt's top State News Agency got it wrong, too!

Later this morning, reporters around the globe scrambled to set the record straight, but not without a few headaches in the process!

Jeepers creepers!

What an embarrassing snafu, eh?

It has now been confirmed, however, that the top leadership of Egypt's governing National Democratic Part resigned Saturday - in spite of the fact President Murbarak continues to dig in his heels - and hold fast to his vow to see out his term.

Among those who resigned?

President Hosni Mubarak's son - Gamal - who many feared would assume the "throne" of the corrupt regime once his father stepped aside reluctantly in the fall.

Whether Vice President Omar Suleiman manipulates the strings behind-the-scenes - with the blessing of Foreign Leaders around the Globe - remains to be seen.

News at 11!

Earth Hour...who turned out the lights?

Tonight, Citizens of Planet Earth, are being asked to come together in a call for action on climate change in a novel way!

And, if the buzz is bang on - hundreds of millions of humanoids, business owners, global corporations (governments, too) - will answer the urgent plea for a raise in conciousness.

How will that lofty goal be accomplished?

By turning off lights for one hour tonight (March 27th) @ 8:30 p.m.

"You will be making the switch to a cleaner - more secure nation - and prosperous America," assert the organizers.

In essence, Earth Hour plans to send a crystal clear message to Nations around the globe, that Americans care about the global warming  issues - and  ultimately - want to to "turn the lights out" on the nasty trend to ignore dirty air, dangerous dependency on foreign oil, and the costs involved with a clean up.

Since its inception three years ago, Earth Hour’s visionary concept has become a reality.

Nearly one billion people flipped off the switch for Earth Hour in 2009.

Amazingly, 4,100 cities in 87 countries on seven continents rose to the occasion, to become part of a growing global phenomenon.

Now, if the organizers could just get everyone to chant "OM" at the top of the Earth Hour, the whole planet would be truly humming.

I plan to to meditate!

How 'bout you?

OM!

Blog Action Day..."Heal the Bay" founder passes to spirit!

When I was at the West Hollywood Book Fair last week, I stumbled across the booth for the environmental activists - "Heal the Bay" - founded by nature-lover Dorothy Green (how apropos).

For blog action day (October 15th) I was planning to pen a post on the worthwhile contributions "Heal the Bay" has made to the "green" movement with additional background on Dorothy.

Well, I suppose my post tomorrow will now be part "blog action" and part "tribute" - in view of the announcement in the obituary column in the morning paper - that the likable gal just passed into "spirit".

Cruise by tomorrow and take a gander at my post - please - and learn about this great lady who was a pioneer in the movement to save the environment!
