Elaine Wynn...lands spot on 10 Best-Dressed list! Classy lady...

The lady is tall, poised, outgoing - and betcha didn't expect it - quite down-to-earth.

And, a real fashion horse in an elegant understated way.

Of course, the woman of-the-hour in Las Vegas is Elaine Wynn, wife of mercurial Steve Wynn (Las Vegas Hotel Impresario).

The morning times did a bang-up job on a feature they published on Mrs. Wynn in the weekend edition of the paper, worth taking a gander at.

When I crossed paths with Elaine Wynn at the ENCORE opening on Monday evening, it was not necessary to make a play for her attention or grapple for a quote.

Actually, I was content to casually saunter into the celebrations and drink up the festive goings-on all around me.

The unflappable hostess with-the-mostest spotted me jotting down notes as she alighted like a graceful dove next to me on the Casino floor.

"You're writing good things, I hope," she laughed innocently.

Our eyes met briefly.

Immediately, I was taken by her warmth.

My thoughts were on the sumptuous trappings, actually.

"Notes on the decor," I chirped enthusiastically.

With little more ado, Mrs. Wynn breezed off on a waft of mystical air, as I focused on the task at hand.

Occasionally, though, I spied Steve Wynn's better half observing me from a distance with a curious expression on her face.

Frankly, I found it refreshing that Elaine Wynn - despite her wealth and high station in life - reached out, was approachable, and at ease in her lofty Universe.

Couple that with her keen fashion sense, and impeccable taste, and it's easy to fathom why Elaine Wynn has landed a spot of my 1st Annual 10 Best-Dressed list to be unveiled on Wednesday, December 31st.

As Humphrey Bogart would say:

"Here's lookin' at you, kid."

Hugh Jackman...only reason to catch Australia! Virile screen presence...

At the ticket window I was informed by Theatre staff that there was a problem with a reel for the "Changeling".

For this reason, I would have to forgo on warming up to sensuous Angelina Jolie in Eastwood's new flick until the second dinner-time screening, or take in another flick.

Drats!

I found myself trundling into "Australia" which stars Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman.

Shortly after the celluloid sprang to life on the silver screen, I was tempted to slip out the back door for a quick exit.

The opening scenes were so God-awful!

A little voice inside whispered in my ear. It was a "patch job".

I expect those sequences were conjured up later to rustle up some - um - whimsy to the project after the producers reckoned they had a stinker on their hands.

Initially, I expect studio brass envisioned "Australia" a big sprawling saga.

What they ended up with was a vast rambling mess!

In fact, the big-budget feature is a twisted Hollywood hybrid, if anything.

The slow-starter is a romantic comedy cum passionate love story cum drama that just keeps coming without any energizer bunny to perk it up in any capacity along the bumpy way.

Thought the fiasco would never end.

When Ms. Kidman strode into the landscape - all spit and fire - I was inclined to hold on for a scene or two.

Just maybe, Cruise's former ex could turn the disaster around, eh?

As I twisted and turned in my seat uncomfotably - suddenly, without warning - the film sparked to life when Jackman (a strapping big dude) finally graced the screen.

What an entrance - albeit a "backwards" one - it was!

A shot from behind at dusk caught Jackman's rough 'n tumble character half naked from the waist up - boasting a surge of rippling muscles that caught the seductive light - and caused the audience to literally gasp.

Now, "Australia" charged full steam ahead.

For many, larger-than-life Jackman was good enough reason to hang on to the predictable end.

For the most part, the producers capitalized on his virile manly presence.

Jackman's character exuded a captivating macho swagger - delivered up in tight jeans and ubiquitous bulging crotch - and a jutting jaw that wouldn't stop.

Sexiest man alive? You betcha.

About two-thirds of the way through an emotional tug-of-war with Kidman (the Boss lady) - suddenly a transformation took place - which caused me to bolt upright in my seat.

When a few tender moments unfolded between Lady Ashley (Kidman) and Drover (Jackman) the close-ups said it all.

"Jackman may be the next Gregory Peck or Clark Cable," I uttered to myself in the dark.

Forget about the wolfman roles, Hugh.

Undoubtedly, there are loftier climbs ahead!

Tane McClure...Doug's daughter to host behind-the-scenes Entertainment Show!

The tall curvaceous blond wrestled with a bit of camera equipment in the lobby of the Theatre, as she prepared to interview the director of the annual Mockfest Film Festival in downtown Hollywood.

Today, there wasn't any crew tagging along, so - in essence - Tane McClure (daughter of beloved screen idol Doug McClure) was chief cook and bottle-washer today, so-to-speak.

With expert skill, she set up the tripod for the camera, adjusted a couple of gizmos - just so - then gingerly slipped in front of the lens with a mic in hand and took on the role of on-camera news reporter, as well.

Ms. McClure was a joy to observe.

After establishing the footage she needed for a wide shot, she quickly took the state-of-the-art camera in hand, and finished up with coverage she'd need later in the editing bay. With a practical skill like that under her trendy belt, cost-conscious producers will be seeking her out, no doubt!

The charismatic young lady put aside her work for a few minutes to chat with me about her new project, "The Tane McClure Show".

In fact, when I expressed my interest in the project - which takes an insightful foray - "behind-the-scenes" - in Hollywood, Ms. McClure treated me to a sneak preview of a DVD copy of the first segment by simply plopping the disc into her PC right there on the couch in the lobby!

Clearly, Ms. McClure has a nose for news - and a flair for hosting - because the footage I screened was top-notch and engaging in every respect.

Although Tane has no formal training in filmmaking - or even editing - the imaginative dynamo managed to craft a visually-stunning piece of work that resonated below the surface with a lot of spark and sizzling entertainment value, as well.

"My Dad wanted to go into production, but then he passed away. I guess I was meant to carry on."

Others in high places obviously think so, too.

According to Tane, Time-Warner wants to give the innovative new offering a big push.

Judging by what I saw unfold before my eyes on the tiny screen - once her career is fully launched - there will obviously be no looking back.

Congrats on the new entertainment entry, Tane!
