Sean Penn...outspoken actor to receive Stanley Kramer Award! Producers Guild honor!

The Hollywood Producers Guild is bestowing one of its highest honors on Oscar-winner Sean Penn.

At a  ceremonyy On January 22nd the at-times-controversial actor will be presented with the Stanley Kramer Award which is named after the celebrated film director.

Penn has the distinction of being the first individual to receive the coveted prize which has normally been awarded to single out issue-oriented films such as "The Defiant Ones" and the landmark film feature "Guess Who's coming to Dinner" in the past.

Paula Wagner - the Chair of the Producers Guild - underscored that Mr. Penn has been a committed activist (deserving of the nod)  who has devoted himself to unselfish causes that have shed light on powerful stories and individuals during the course of his long industrious film career.

Congrats, Mr. Penn!

Hillary...guess who's coming to dinner?

Yesterday, I received a curious e-mail from Bill Clinton inviting me to dinner - provided I cough up five smackeroos - of course!

But, I found the body of the message perplexing.

In it, Bill quipped,

"During the campaign, Hillary and I didn't have the chance to eat together much because we were usually on the trail in different states. Now that the campaign's over, I'm glad we can share more meals again."

But - if we're to take a cue from the family portrait they sent along (captioned above) - it's apparent the Clintons are going through an identity crisis.

So, I'm zipping off a publicity still to remind 'em both, who they truly are!

Sidney Poitier...shops at Whole Foods in Beverly Hills!

Poitier won Oscar for role in "Lilies of the Field"...

I headed over to the dairy section of the grocery to pick up a couple of items.

But, a man and a woman kibitzing alongside their respective carts, were blocking my way.

As I waited patiently for the sea to part, suddenly a distinctive voice fell like music upon my ears. As I glanced up, I found myself staring into the face of Oscar-winning actor, Sidney Poitier.

Imagine that! Mr. Poitier shops in person at Whole Foods in Beverly Hills.

In a tastefully tailored suit, no less!

As I snatched up a carton of milk, I said a quick hello, and was on my merry way.

If I had to describe the man, I'd say he's - elegant, handsome, charismatic, and - most importantly - humble.

A fine role model for any young man to look up to!
