President Obama...get out of town by High Noon! ICE's softler gentler approach!

Last week, President Obama announced that there would be a White House policy change in respect to the way in which ICE (Immigration Police) handled raids on establishments caught hiring illegals.

Instead of storming the walls of the work place - and smashing down the doors to signal their arrival in the course of a raid on the premises - the President noted that in the future ICE and Immigration Officials would politely waltz into the employment office and issue a warning that if the undocumented workers were not "let go" (fired) that appropriate charges would be brought against the employer in the Federal Courts.

President Obama was obviously responding to pleas from members of the community (myself included) who took to the streets over the past two years in highly-visible protests in front of Government buildings (such as the Federal Building on Temple Street) to voice disapproval over the para-military-style tactics which have been used iin the Los Angeles area which were downright shocking.

I reported on the disturbing Government "show of force" which has also  been used by the DEA to bust licensed Marijuana dispensaries in California which has been the subject of a lot of controversy as well.

Although I applaud the President's attempt to civilize what has been a barbaric assault until now on the part of the Government and Law Enforcement agencies working on its behalf - the announcement reminded me of a plot twist lifted from Hollywood's Westerns of yesteryear.

For example, in the classic film - "High Noon" - the outlaws were issued a warning to get out of town by Noon.

Or else!

Bottom line, it will be interesting to see if the softer gentler approach works, with the Obama administration.

Illegal Aliens...McDonald's hiring undocumented workers! No speak, English!

At the crack of dawn the other morning a posse of City commuters found out the hard way that McDonald's - one of the Nation's largest employers of day workers - is hiring illegal aliens who can't speak one syllable of English.

The wake-up call rang out crystal clear shortly after a long line began to snake at a fast-food take-out on Alvarado (7th & Westlake).

Inside - at the rear of McDonald's - a worker on duty was taking an inordinate amount of precious time bringing the men's room up to scratch (or so it was first thought) which triggered some nasty banter back-and-forth amongst the patrons and staff.

"How long does it take to swab down and restock a bathroom," one disgruntled guest uttered up pointedly to a Supervisor when she arrived on the scene to calm the troubled waters.

Just as she was about to respond to the question - the door fluttered ajar - and the ugly truth revealed itself.

An employee - with a goofy look on his face - was spied wiping down an interior wall with the flimsy intent of erasing a riot of ugly graffiti.

When one gent caught sight of the scenario going down he erupted in a fury.

"You shouldn't be wiping down the wall during the busy breakfast hour when customers may also want to use the bathroom."

The young Latino stared back at the middle-aged man blankly.

He obviously didn't understand one pristine word!

Now, the customer was really in a tizzy.

"Doesn't that worker speak English," he angrily snapped back?

Red-faced, the Manager she admitted the obvious.

"No."

Uh-huh!

McDonald's is hiring illegals.

How can I make that sweeping conclusion?

It's elementary, Dr. Watson.

When a foreigner applies for residency in the United States - in addition to filling out forms and paying up-front fees - the individual is required to demonstrate a knowledge of the History of this great Nation and demonstrate an ability to speak the native tongue (English!) of the land.

There is just one sticky issue that remains to be resolved.

Has McDonald's been knowingly and willingly breaking the Law?

That depends.

If McDonald's oversees all hiring halls across the country, the answer is probably "yes".

On the other hand, if individual "franchise owners" rustle up their own day workers without any intervention from the headquarters or regional offices, maybe not.

Which begs another question.

Are wealthy Latinos buying McDonald's franchises with the specific intent of providing a safe haven for their fellow countrymen?

News at 11!

Illegal Immigrants...decrease in numbers! Law enforcement works...

According to a PEW Hispanic Center report, the number of illegal immigrants entering to the U.S. over the past decade or so, has dropped by approximately 66%.

A comparison of specific time frames within a ten year span have verified that the research appears to be correct.

For instance, between the years 2005 and 2007 approximately 850,000 Mexican illegal’s slipped across the border undocumented and without the required legal papers.

However, between 2007 and 2009 those figures dropped to 300,000.

A researcher in the field asserted that the flux in the flow of illegals has been due to the recession and a lack of available jobs.

The unemployment figures for unauthorized workers hovers at a rate of about 10 % higher than U.S. born residents and legal residents.

It has also been theorized that the drop in illegal immigration may be due to increased law enforcement efforts and deportations in recent months arising from a public uproar over undocumented aliens in the United States and the subsequent draining of  essential resources at medical facilities, schools, and in the community-at-large.

Also, it's gotten tougher and more expensive to cross the border illegally, allegedly.

"We know that it's harder to sneak across the border than it was four or five years ago...virtually everyone who sneaks across the border uses a coyote now and the cost has gone up. The increase of the border patrol around cities and ports of entry have pushed the flows to more remote places," noted Jeffrey Passel, a Senior demographer at PEW.

Mark Krikorian, a director at the center for Immigration Studies made his own astute oberservations.

"The findings point to...a consistent decrease  of the illegal population over time through (law) enforcement."

Douglas Massey, a sociologist at Princeton University, assessed the situation this way.

"Life's gotten pretty miserable for immigrants in the United States."

In contrast, there has been a slight increase in legal immigrants to these shores in the past decade.

In conclusion, the researchers note that the future trajectory of illegal immigration will likely depend on the strength of the country's economic recovery and the level of enforcement of immigration laws.

Latino...desk clerk discriminates against whites @ Siegel Suites in Vegas!

Latino employee discriminates against White Americans!

Have you noticed that since the nasty brouhaha broke out over the controversial landmark Immigration Law in Arizona, that Latinos have been striking back and discriminating against white folks around California and Nevada?

It certainly hasn't escaped my attention that cashiers at McDonald's, Jack-in-the-Box - and regular workers in retail outlets around both states - have started to snub white customers and mistreat them when they are patronizing these establishments.

For example, one hotel guest arrived at Siegel Suites in North Las Vegas at the correct check-in time - at 2 p.m.yesterday - but was rudely instructed to return at 2:30 p.m. - or better yet - 3 in the afternoon.

So, the slightly annoyed guest, wandered off to kill time for an hour or so in the blazing afternoon sun.

When the hotel patron returned, he plunked himself down, and waited for a sign that the suite was ready for occupancy.

During the hour or so that the guest was off window-shopping a second employee took up the afternoon shift.

With a puzzled look on her face, she looked up from her perch at the front desk, and pointedly asked the gentleman if he needed some assistance.

At this juncture, the patron noted that the other desk clerk informed him his room wasn't ready earlier at two and that he was waiting for her nod that the suite was available.

She shook her head in disbelief and revealed that it was not necessary for that scenario to have gone down in the front lobby at Siegel Suites.

After all, the suite was ready for the guest when he first walked in the door!

The Latino clerk, who was quite rude and insulting during the brief interchange, deliberately lied and made the guest needlessly wait for over an hour for the suite!

The guest was obviously discriminated against because he was white.

This is one of the problems that has reared  its ugly head now that the battle lines have been drawn over the illegal immigrant issue.

And, the situation is worsened by the fact that economy-minded employers have installed Latinos in positions they are not qualified for.

In the aforementioned case, the Latino desk clerk demonstrated she lacked any common sense when it came to job priority issues - and that she was also totally clueless about age-old American traditions - like customer satisfaction.

In a nutshell, she abused what little authority she had to openly discriminate against an Anglo-Saxon American  - and ultimately - inflict unjust suffering on a paying guest at the Hotel who did not deserve to be treated in such an abominable hateful manner at the Hotel.

If the short homely woman dislikes whites, and is angry over the immigration issue, she shouldn't take it out on patrons at an establishment where she happens to work.

When a worker shows up to clock in, they are required to leave their personal feelings (and prejudices) at the door, and treat all customers equally without prejudice during business hours while on duty.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, Latinos - from what I have noticed in recent weeks - appear to be under the mistaken impression that they are the only minority group that is entitled to "protest in the streets" and demand their rights.

We know this is true, because in recent days when whites have attended rallies and attempted to make their voices head, Latinos have not only called them racists but tried to silence their voices, too.

Over the past year, I have noticed a growing resentment towards White Americans, when I have crossed paths with Latinos in public or their place of employ.

Just recently, it was revealed that schools in Nevada have been offering up courses, that teach young Latino children to be wary of caucasians.

No one wonder they think we are their oppressors!

Although I endeavour to treat everyone as my equal - and with dignity and respect when I cross paths with each and every one - I don't intend to put up with any bullsh** on the other hand.

If Latinos continue to treat me unjustly when I enter into any establishment they work at, I'm going to go on the warpath, believe me.

And, it won't be a pretty sight.

Enough is enough!

United States Citizenship & Immigration Services...disgruntled employee confirms allegations of wrong-doing! Robert M. Cowan guilty?

Several weeks ago, I penned an expose on Robert M. Cowan and Government Officals linked to his office in Lee's Summit (Missouri) in respect to allegations of Immigrant Rights' Violations, wrongful retaliaton against complainants, and outright discrimination.

http://ijulian.blogspot.com/2008/06/immigrationpending-lawsuits-for.html

Understandably, in view of what has been transpiring on the Immigrant landscape over the past one or two years, the controversial post whipped up a dizzying number of hits daily!

A few months after the initial post and updates were published, I received a personal e-mail from a "whistle-blower", in which the individual alleged that Robert M. Cowan not only engaged in wrongful conduct against Immigrants while their documents were pending at INS in Lee's Summit (MO), but also levelled his anger at employees working alongside of him who were brazen enough to question his ethics and morals.

In response, I fired off an e-mail to ask for permission to use the incriminating information in an news update on the ongoing Immigration controversy.

After a few days passed with any word from the former INS employee; subsequently, I expected the whole new development on the INS front, was either a hoax or the shadowy figure got cold feet at the last minute and fled the scene for parts unknown!

Then, I was contacted once again.

The information in the 2nd e-mail was more detailed, with specific allegations of wrong-doing and enough clandestine goings-on to bait Sherlock Holmes, without doubt.

However, in the second missive, the disgruntled employee made an unusual demand.

I would have to meet face to face (by way of telephone) before permission would be granted to use the e-mails in an all-inclusive fashion (with body & content intact, identity of the author revealed, evidentiary proof proferred up, etc.).

I balked!

Didn't pass the smell test, if you know what I mean.

For this reason, I have chosen to publish the e-mail communications verbatim without revealing the identity of the individual.

After all, the allegations are serious, and may be of import in any ongoing or upcoming investigation regarding the alleged illegal (& wrongful acts) at the USCIS office back East.

That said, here goes!

E-Mail Communication # 1:

Dear Mr. Ayrs,

I read your blog about USCIS and Rob Cowan. I am one of his former employees who were retaliated against for opposing his practices. There is another one, name witheld, who was terminated illegally for reporting wrong-doing along with me and others. Those articles are posted on the INTERNET. Mr. Cowan has not only been retaliating against the immigrants, but he also goes after the employees who oppose him. They get their documents and credentials stolen and destroyed also. I noted that the behavior of Mr. Cowan was to be reported to the FBI and a lawsuit was to be filed. To your knowledge, were those things done? If you were like more information, please contact me.

Name Withheld

E-Mail Communication # 2:

Dear Mr. Ayrs:

We need to talk face-to-face via the telephone as to what you want to post. I have to tread carefully and for good reason. I don’t know what Cowan has on someone or who that someone is, but he has gotten away with anything and everything for as long as he has worked at Legacy INS/USCIS and the entire management has known it. I have seen him get people arrested who opposed him and have other managers kicked out of this facility and moved to other facilities or fired. He has violated every prohibited personnel practice in the book and has gotten away with everything. I want to know who is covering him and why?

In this area, I have seen other federal directors of other agencies indicted for doing less than he has, but no one will touch him on anything. Do you have any insights? I knew that he was going after any staff that opposed him and it was completely allowed, but exactly what did you do to get on his bad side? Who did you tell about it? I know who I told about it all and nothing has been done. I am curious as to whether we both went to the same people.

My cell phone number is: number witheld

Name Witheld

Whew!

Stay in touch as the intriguing tale continues to unfold at The Tattler & Pop Culture.

P.S.
If you conduct a search on google on Robert M. Cowan and click on "images", you'll stumble on a reference to the shady USCIS employee with my photo inserted. Curious, eh?
