NBC Today...shallow female anchors a yawn! Bless Martha Stewart for trying...

I was flipping through the channels on the old boob tube this morning when I spied a news flash on Ricky Martin underway on the 10 o'clock segment of the Today show.

One of the overly-coiffed, shallow female anchors - with all the personality of a slug - was droning on about the recent announcement by Pop Star - Ricky Martin - that he is "gay".

Ho-hum.

Essentially, her report was a watered-down scoff of juicy tidbits gleened from sizzling coverage that flew at lightning speed around the Internet last night by other relevant writers.

After quizzing her equally boring side-kick (on what amounts to a fluffy over-rated morning show) as to why Martin chose to "come out" now, the two proceeded to twitter  non-stop as if they were experts on the topic of homosexuality.

Well, one gal theorized, he is Catholic.

And, the fact he was once adored by nubile young  girls when he was a pop icon with Menudo, must have figured into his reluctance to reveal his sexual preference, too (they concurred).

Uh-huh - the other host with the unattractive stretched-face nodded - in agreement.

"Also, he has those two adorable kids to think about."

They really are his kids the pushier reporter was inclined to pipe up.

"He had a surrogate, didn't he?" the other probed further.

In response, the snippier anchor nodded, then quipped with smug satisfaction.

"We're NBC. We do our research."

Balonie!

Don't these frigid newsies realize that they come off like a couple of condescending bit**es?

Where NBC dredges up these losers, I'll never know.

With bimbos like this populating the terrain, no wonder men are gay, or cheat on their wives!

Not even Martha Stewart could save the Today show this morning.

In spite of the fact I love to cook with honey, too!

Patti LaBelle...appears @ Macy's to tout bedding collection! Del Amo Dec. 2nd...

This past week, retailers have rustled up the star power of a posse of high-profile babes, in a bold-faced effort to boost sales in the sagging economy.

For instance, this past week, pop culture Icon - Lady Gaga - sashayed into Best Buy to sign autographs for her new album release, the Fame Monster.

Wal-Mart was inclined to feature exclusive footage of Miley Cyrus backstage during recent tour performances to peak interest in cocktail dresses the perky young starlett affixed her moniker too, as well.

Tomorrow night, heiress Paris Hilton, will alight at Macy's at the Galleria (Glendale) to push her new fragrance, Siren.

So, savvy - Pattie LaBelle - opted to roll with the dice, too, and lent her signature to an exclusive line of bedding to be parcelled out in the Home Furnishings department at Macy's.

Look out Martha Stewart!

Ms. LaBelle will be putting in a much-anticipated appearance this evening at the Del Amo home store at 6 pm, so toss on your party dresses - gals - and get thee to Macy's straight away!

If you're looking to save - um - face between the sheets (at least)!

Mohammed Gadaffi...pitches tent in Martha Stewart's neck-of-woods! Protests @ United Nations disrupt proceedings...

Gadaffi in less bohemian salad & tent days!

As soon as known-terrorist - Mohammed Gadaffi - touched down on these shores the controversies began to rear their ugly head!

For starters, a failed attempt to pitch a tent in Central Park,  forced the defiant rebel to seek refuge beyond the fringe of the inviting NYC cityscape.

Unfortunately, for the tony town of Bedford, the ego-maniac from Libya set his bizarre sights on a country acre or two owned by high-profile financier Donald Trump just short of the outer reaches of the wilderness.

Consequently, night-before-last, Gadaffi's handlers were hoisting a large canvas structure on the rustic estate, with the specific intent of securing shelter from the impending storm.

Not so fast, bozo!

The neighbors in the upscale community - Martha Stewart, for one - must have been screaming bloody-murder.

Because, on the heels of the militant's arrival, city officials were inclined to pay the foreign entourage a visit - and in the process - give 'em a tongue-lashing or two.

On one talk show a fuming resident lamented that Gaddafi and his outlaws didn't play by the rules.

"They trespassed on my property. Cut down trees." he angrily snorted on 360 (CNN).

After further questioning from TV cutie - Anderson Cooper - a spokesperson for the city wisely noted the town of Bedford (and its residents)  had two options they could pursue.

The city was within its legal bounds to file a criminal complaint from the get-go because the builders of the off-beat structure did not abide by applicable rules and regulations set down by the City in recent years.

A permit was not obtained, for instance.

In the alternative, the townsfolk are also legally entitled to file "moving papers" with the Supreme Court, to force an injunction  (and hence)  put an end to Gadaffi's tent-city lunacy.

Meanwhile, Gadaffi continued to make waves early today when he arrived at the United Nations in downtown Manhattan with a gang of thugs in tow.

Protestors interrupted the normally easy-going gathering - and caused  many to speculate in the wee hours of the bid for peace -  it it was going to be tough-going the rest of the unpredictable day.

You betcha!

As luck would have it, Gadaffi was slated to speak second-up on the agenda, on the heels of the President's well-received appearance at the mic a scant few moments earlier.

To prevent any altercations - or unpleasant moments in the event the two crossed paths by accident - there was a lot of behind-the-scenes maneuvering on the part of intense Washington handlers to manipulate the proceedings to their political advantage.

For example, normally the speaker "next up" to the podium is queued-up and at-the-ready to stride forward, to ensure there are no delays or glitches.

On this instant occasion, it was not until after President Obama exited, that Gadaffi was allowed access  to the floor of the United Nations asssembly.

The delay was so obvious - that a handful of politicians wondered aloud if  Gaddafi (last minute) was being physically-prevented from basking in the glow of  his much-anticipated moment in view of the loud protests.

But, eventually, he strode confidently to the platform and commenced with his speech.

Actually, it was more of a rambling rant about the preamble to the United Nations charter, punctuated by a jab or two at a couple of Super Power Nations he accused of hi-jacking prestigious UN Benefits to their own advantage at the exclusion of others.

For the most part, he sounded like a madman.

As to his illegal immigrant status near Martha's vineyard (!), well, I say send in ICE.

In short order, he'll learn a valuable lesson about what happens when 'ya mess with Homeland Security!

Gadaffi roughs it in tony Bedford!

Martha Stewart...I LUV YOU & the moolah raining down from 1-800-FLOWERS.COM!

OMG!

I vividly recall the auspicious moment when Martha Stewart first gushed on a TV talk show about the start-up of a delightful venture to deliver up bouquets of exquisite fresh flowers to customers' doorsteps express delivery around the country with her own signature style.

In fact, the "First Lady" of "Home Design" - perky host of a popular highly-rated TV show on cable - was not only bubbling-over about the launch - but the prospect of establishing a business presence on the ubiquitous Internet where the growth potential (and reach) is limited only by one's imagination.

Fortunately for romantic Martha - the easy-to-remember web address she was seeking for the "Bouquet" service (1-800-Flowers.com) - was there for the taking.

She took!

Now the style maven - with impeccable taste and class - is conquering the highly-competitive flower biz on the at-times fickle blogosphere.

Imagine that!

The demand for her flowers.com offerings (all gussied up in eye-catching gift wrap in Martha's own signature style) have not only rustled up sales at Stewart's site - but at my website - also.

Yup!

A handful of Martha's ads I was approved for to rustle up sales - pretty-up my site, too - surreptitiously sprinkled about select web pages at my hit-getting "Pop Culture" web site drummed-up a smattering of orders for 1-800-Flowers.com.

Holy Mac!

I just about fell out of my leather armchair at the PC bright-'n-early at the crack of dawn - when I logged in to review revenue reports - and spied a balance due for a percentage of sales triggered by the Martha Stewart ads at:

In fact, I was so thrilled, that I embarked on an ambitious overhaul this morning with the specific aim of ensuring that the lovely Martha & her precious fragrant spray of exotic flowers @ 1-800-Flowers.com elicits more '"face time".

Heck, Martha's not a bad-looking gal, 'ya know?

Martha Stewart...fresh flowers anyone?

Martha Stewart for 1-800-Flowers.com`

Of all Martha Stewart's creative business ventures, I particularly warm up to the concept of fresh flower delivery.

But, I must admit, snuggling between the style maven's high-thread-count sheets is pure luxury, too.

I expect that when a bouquet of flowers is gifted to some lucky soul - and arrives at the unsuspecting recipient's door - that the token of love (or friendship) is beautifully-wrapped with subtle design flourishes, the flowers are fresh and fragrant, and the hand-crafted card neatly tucked inside is written in an eye-catching scroll worthy of the status of keepsake.

After all, Martha Stewart is a class act, which is reflected at the heart of her inimitable style.

Though I have a couple of Martha's ads on my website (http://www.julianayrs.com/) I haven't actually ordered any flowers yet.

Perhaps, I should put in a "test purchase" to track a flower delivery start to finish, so I am fully qualified to wholeheartedly recommend the service.

Personally, I prefer lilies at Easter.

Set a vase of 'em on a dining-room table, and a couple of hours later, a heavenly scent permeates the space.

"When you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a lily with the other."

Chinese Proverb

*Just now, out of nowhere, the scent of lilies wafted into the room!
