Jackie Evancho...wacko mentally-imbalanced fans worse than Grobanites!

A couple of weeks ago, I penned a review of a PBS Special - which featured a young songbird by the name of Jackie Evancho - who placed second in a karaoke-style talent show on the old boob tube last season.

Although I did rave about her range, I was inclined to point out that as a stage performer the little "angel" left a lot to be desired (in a nutshell).

With maturity, and proper coaching, I expect the young chanteuse will reach her true potential one day.

On the heels of the critique, her fans were livid!

Judging by a few of the responses, anyway, which were quite hateful (and irrational).

If you thought the "Grobanites" were wacko over Josh Groban - well - the Jackie-O's take the whole "fan worship" thing to a bizarre level of lunacy.

Notwithstanding, not one irate reader was capable of intelligently articulating their rage in any meaningful or constructive way, in the wake of the critique.

When her fans attempted to post comments "anonymously" at the Tattler, the deceitful behaviour spoke volumes to moi!

Cowards!

By the way - Happy 4th of July - eh?

Natalie Cole...holds court @ Saks Fifth Avenue book signing! Beverly Hills!

In spite of inclement weather - drizzling rain in LA LA LAND - fans turned out at Saks Fifth Avenue in tony Beverly Hills this afternoon - to get a glimpse of legendary chanteuse Natalie Cole.

The madding crowds weren't disappointed!

In fact, when Ms. Cole first strolls into a room, her magnetic personality just about knocks folks dead-away, alright.

The tall, slender, graceful beauty carries herself with such grace!

Today, Nat King Cole's daughter sported glittery-silver skin-tight pants and matching shoes which caught the light and sent a million little rainbows here and there about the upscale environs of the trendy upscale retail outlet.

Her chic blouse - with design flourishes (a bow tied elegantly at the neck) - also  underscored a taste for fashion that cries out the "feminine touch".

How did Ms. Cole end up alighting at Saks to sign her new book?

"We've had a long association with Natalie," the burly Manager (who was smartly turned-out in a well-tailored black suit with tasteful matching accessories) beamed.

Ms. Cole was in her element, too.

In fact, at one point she was inclined to make a suggestion that a life-size poster be adjusted a tad, to ensure the paparazzi in tow were able to snatch up coveted publicity stills on the sly no problem.

Meanwhile, fans waited patiently in line for the opportunity to meet their heroine, and have her affix a "Joan Henry" in her signature scroll.

The best of the Yuletide season to 'ya, Natalie!

Connie Francis...chanteuse performs @ historic Castro Theatre! October 16th!

Connie Francis - a knock-out beauty in her hey-day (even now!) and legendary box-office star of yesteryear - glides into town for a one-night appearance at the historic Castro Theatre in San Francisco.

The charismatic charmer - who was the biggest-selling female pop artist in the 50's and 60's - was often teamed up with heart-throbs of the era (to engage in a little fun onscreen hi-jinks) which usually resulted in spectacular box-office results.

Because I was blessed with older sisters - one was a dead wringer for Connie when she got all gussied up - I was often dragged along to local movie houses to catch her latest screwball flick and bask in her eternal glow.

Ms. Francis made her film debut in - "Where the Boys Are" - a hilarious comedy about glorious Spring Break, teen-age temptation - and a truckload of boys - of course!

And, the raging hormones were kept at arm's length!

Wink! Wink!

The film was adeptly directed by Henry Levin (1961).

The pretty songbird is expected to belt out a roster of old standards such as "Where the Boys Are," "Stupid Cupid," "Don't Break the Heart That Loves You," "Everybody's Somebody's Fool," "Mama," "My Heart Has a Mind of Its Own," and many more!

A 21-piece orchestra will back up the legend.

See 'ya there!

Beyonce...cat fight with Etta James! Meow...

Do 'ya think its natural?

Etta James is going to whup Beyonce butt.

Shortly after the dumpy warbler stormed the stage at a gig in Seattle this past week, she was all primed up and at-the-ready to spew venom at the pretty young chanteuse, too.

Allegedly, James was annoyed with the airhead singer because she had the audacity to bellow out the standard - "At Last" - at the President's Neighbourhood Ball a couple of weeks ago.

Since James first belted out the smoldering tune in 1961, it has become a sort-of signature song for her repertoire of hits.

"The great Beyoncé," James wickedly muttered to herself.

"I can't stand Beyoncé. She has no business up there, singing up there on a big ol' president day, gonna be singing my song that I've been singing forever."

Then, the over-the-hill performer proceeded to knock the president, too.

"You guys know your president, right? You know the one with the big ears?" she ranted before a shocked audience.

"Wait a minute, he ain't my president. He might be yours; he ain't my president. But I tell you that woman he had singing for him, singing my song - she's going to get her a** whipped."

Beyonce is such a little sprig of a thing, just betcha old flubber-face would snap the popular young Diva in two, eh?

As to Etta's performance, well, one critic put it this way.

"James celebrated her successes Wednesday night at the Paramount Theatre, arriving on stage in a motorized wheelchair. The blues, R&B, soul and jazz diva's seven-song set seemed less a concert than a victory lap around her remarkable career, and it began on an audacious note with a "Come to Mama" moment."

"The sublime "I'd Rather Go Blind" and "I Want to Ta Ta You, Baby" were similarly, well, horny, mixing sex and sax (and trumpet and trombone)."

"The randy edge helped James over a few rough spots, as did her eight-strong Roots Band and, on a sing-a-long version of "Piece of My Heart," with a vocally enthusiastic audience."

As to singing at the White House in the future?

After the acid comments she earmarked for the PREZ, it is doubtful she'll be able to wangle an invitation at any tony soiree in Washington in the near future - unless she claps her yap, shut - of course!

Well, 'ya know what they say about blonds.

Just magnify that a tad.

After all, a bottle-blond-black, is an awesome oddity to fathom, or behold!

Girl, we'll see about that!
