Kate Middleton...copy-Kates hungry for fashion plate ensembles! Hat style up front!

Every since Kate Middleton was thrust into the glare of the spotlight on the heels of the announcement of her initial engagement to Prince William, fashionistas around the globe have been hungry for the Royal Style as seen through the chic eyes of Her Royal Highness.

While some critic focused on the pretty bride's weight up to the 11th hour (obviously Ms. Middleton was slimming to avoid the ring snafu which eventually unfolded anyway in front of the prying eyes of an intrusive press bent on pleasing their loyal frenzied subscribers) others were inclined to scrutinize every delicious detail of her elegant wardrobe selections.

It was only a given - that in due time - a phrase would be coined to designate the chosen few!

Uh-huh.

According to a titillated press in jolly Old England - across the big pond - Royal Fashion Watchers are now known as Copy-Kates!

Wonders never cease!

And, I expect, that Prince William's famed rambunctious jaunts with his randy young brother - Prince Harry - will rustle up a catchy phrase or two in the future.

How 'bout - Will's thrills?

Nate's...fashion no-no! Big "O's" protege boobs big time!

Nate - that irresistible little cutie that Oprah signed on to host a "Decorating Show" on the OWN Network - screwed up big time yesterday!

The "out" young decorator - who is usually the epitome of style and grace - appeared in a segment this week that definitely underscored that the lad either needs a new fashion advisor or a full-length mirror to ensure that he gets it "right" next time he appears on Broadcast TV.

When it comes to avoiding a fashion disaster that is!

For example, in a segment yesterday, Nate sported a tasteful grey sport
coat, and teamed it with elegant black dress slacks, squeaky-clean white dress shirt, black tie, and - OMG - brown shoes!

Is Nate color-blind, do 'ya think?

Black, wine-colored, or grey shoes would have been preferable!

Although the "top half" was A-okay in my estimation (don't call the Fashion Police on that part of the ensemble, please!) the choice of footwear appeared to be a careless afterthought.

When you consider that his pocket handkerchief was neatly folded - in a line across the breast pocket - it causes one to wonder.

What gives?

For sure, he's headed for my - "Worst-Dressed" list - unless he starts paying attention to his feet!

And you thought Dave Letterman was a bad boy for wearing white socks with dark shoes and a snappy black dress suit!

Lady Gaga...waxes poetic @ Madame Tussaud's! Pop Icon likeness unveiled!

The ever-popular - at-times terribly scandalous Pop Icon Lady Gaga - will saunter onto the world stage as a permanent fixture at Madame Tussaud's Museum this weekend.

In fact, her sculpted wax figure will be trotted out across the globe from the exotic far-east climbs of Hong Kong to the glitzy Las Vegas strip.

At press time, there hasn't been a whiff of insider scoop, on the fashionable threads that will ultimately grace the Monster Queen's luscious bod, though.

Can we expect the infamous meat smock to adorn the Pop Diva's Divine likeness?

Alexander McQueen...dead @ 40! Fashionista Lady GaGa shocked....

He was sought out by the world's most glamorous women - Rihanna, Nicole Kidman, and Sarah Jessica Parker - to name a few!

I often stopped in my tracks at the designer's studio window on Melrose Avenue - to take a gander at his latest innovative creations structured in bold shapes and colors - which appealed to the fashion instincts of the celebrated elite.

The news was shocking.

Alexander McQueen dead at age 40!

A bit of a tyrant (tempermental taskmaster?) in the backstage environs pre-showtime - the talented gentleman was still highly regarded by his fashionista arch rivals - none-the-less.

His legacy?

An influence that will go beyond bellweather trends - and in the final analysis - continue to inspire up-and-coming designers new to the runway.

"His brilliant imagination knew no bounds as he conjured up collection after collection of extraordinary designs. At one level he was a master of the fantastic, creating astounding fashions shows that mixed design, technology and performance, and on another he was a modern day genius whose gothic aesthetic was adopted by women the world over. His death is the hugest loss to anyone who knew him and for very many who didn't," raved Alexander Shulman on British Vogue's  Web site.

Others hailed the designer from around the globe.

For instance, on CNN (Thursday) Lady Gaga - infamous for her eye-catching ground-breaking fashion - spoke of her admiration for the designer.

"His brilliant imagination knew no bounds as he conjured up collection after collection of extraordinary designs."

London's Metropolitan Police confirmed for the record that a 40-year-old man was found dead at an address in Green Street.

Curiously, they would not confirm his identity, although the death was not considered foul play.

"At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee's family," a company rep solemnly uttered up on behalf of the family of the designer

A spokesperson at the Alexander McQueen store in New York said the shop would be closed Thursday and Friday in light of the designer's death.

Lady Gaga...signing album THE FAME MONSTER @ Best Buy! Nov. 23rd (Los Angeles)...

Lady Gaga, the pop flavor of the month, will be appearing at Best Buy tomorrow evening at 7 pm to sign her new album "The Fame Monster".

The ubiquitious stage performer - with the penchant for wild do's and equally bizarre fashion get-ups - must have stellar management 'cause that ggggg-girl gets around!

Last week, the wild-eyed fashionista appeared on an episode of the Gossip Girl, much to the delight of fans!

And, the local art gallery was graced with her presence this past week at a fundraiser, where she wowed art connoisseurs and regular joes off the street alike with a sort-of interactive conceptual piece.

You may want to turn up tomrrow at the retailer - if only to to catch a sneak peak at her latest hat!

A chapeau designed by archictect Frank Gehry caused a lot of heads to turn at the one celebrity turn-out.  I expect that Hedda Hopper - gossip mavon of yesteyear known for her wild stand-out headresses - must be applauding from her grave!

At $7.99, Monster is a bargain, dudes!

The package includes "Bad Romance", "Telephone" feat. Beyonce & "Speechless".

See 'ya there!

GQ...bows to great wall of China! Conde Nast to spread fashion wings...

Chinese fashion-savvy dudes ready to turn the page for GQ?

Where bejewelled greats once strode the Wall of China under a golden sun in exquisite embroidered silks steeped in exotic perfumes, high priests from the jungles of Fashion Avenue in NYC now dare to tread without foreboding.

Conde Nast whirling style dervishes caught unsuspecting big apple fashionistas by surprise recently when they announced with little fanfare that GQ - the trend-setting style bible of 7th Avenue - intends to spread their wings and venture into the far East and set up shop.

Jonathan Newhouse - the Chairman for the publisher - noted that the slick glossy mag will commence with its first issue in October (2009).

Their exciting new entry onto foreign soil was struck by virtue of a delicious copyright cooperation agreement with the all-powerful China News Service.

"GQ is a flagship title for Conde Nast. We believe the magazine will be a success in the Chinese market," a spokesperson for the Executive Board excitedly gushed to media hounds at a press conference in NYC.

Some tongues are panting, understandably!

The Menswear market appears to be ripe for the picking, fer sure.

For instance, visionary Conde Nast astutely took stock of the landscape before green-lighting the foreign arm, and the figures were staggering.

For starters, the Chinese population peaks right now at 1.3 billion.

Notwithstanding, the abundance of male-only children born after the country implemented its family planning policies of the seventies, underscores the potential for big dollar returns (profit) for the savvy fashion mavens at GQ headquarters.

"The wealthier city-dwelling young men are often referred to by the market research firms as "Little Emperors" with a voracious appetite for luxury goods and designer brands," analysts in the field advised on the heels of the Conde Nast announcement.

But, some pooh-pooh GQ (a late-comer?) for not being ballsier sooner.

Vogue, Self, and Modern Bride entered the Chinese market with confidence moons ago.

In retrospect, GQ executives were inclined to lurk on the sidelines and allow the competition to "test the waters" first.

Now, they're hungry for a slice of the style pie.

Will Conde Nast power-brokers want that plain, heated, or with a dollop of rich cream and maraschino cherry on top?

Paris Hilton...billboard large on heiress! Lacking in shoes...

As I strolled down Sunset today and was about to zip into the Internet Cafe, I spied a large billboard of Paris Hilton - superimposed against a picturesque Hollywood Hills backdrop - advertising her designer shoes.

But, something was definitely wrong!

Her pretty face and long elegant neck spoke volumes from its perch on high, but guess what?

Not one hint of a stylish high heel or comfy soft sole in sight.

I suppose true fashionistas know the score!

It doesn't matter what the shoe looks like - or even if the staggering price screaming out from the eye-catching tag inside - will bankrupt the most budget-conscious gal.

As long as it was designed by the ultra chic heiress, eh?

For those who window-shop the old-fashioned way - with an eye towards color-coordination, image, and style - the specifics of a high-end shoe are of utmost importance.

So, I've inserted practical stills of Ms. Hilton presenting one or two of the popular models, both on the runway and off.

Me, I'd rather go barefoot than wear heels, dahlink!

In the final analysis, to paraphrase Gertrude Stein:

"A shoe is a shoe is a shoe."

One pose fits all, I guess!
