Karate Kid...kicks a**! Justin Bieber soundtrack bootstraps up mood!

Beiber music sets mood!

Filmgoers keen on sitting ringside while teens kick the bejesus out of each other will be snapping up tickets for the remake of Karate Kid this weekend.

And rooting for the underdog a short while later when the predicatable plotline - after a few short introductory scenes - sends the "Kid" headlong to meet his destiny as he - subsequently -uncovers the meaning of honor along the way.

In this chapter, Jackie Chan takes on the role of King Fu "Master" and fills the shoes of respected actor Pat Morita (previously cast in the role) quite admirably.

Jaden Smith turns in a stellar performance in the part that propelled Ralph Macchio into superstar status on the Hollywood scene when he took a stab at it.

Justin Bieber's soundtrack works well with this material and signals a future in film scoring in the event it is a career endeavour the young Pop Icon is intrigued about pursuing.

Even still, this time out, Karate Kid - though vastly entertaining - can't come close to the original.

A classic now, the martial arts film, remains untouchable having stood the test of time.

The Clash...a thrill a second! Action-thriller must-see for Martial Arts fans...

Normally, I am not inclined to snap up a ticket for a Martial Arts Film, especially not one with English subtitles that requires that I manipulate my motor skills at break-neck speed to ensure I don't miss any juicy detail.

The Buzz on "The Clash" was so persistent, though, that I actually hung out in line with all the regular folks to catch the flick.

The foreign film did not disappoint!

Within minutes, the intense action-thriller revved into high gear, hauling the captive audience along for a delicious heart-pounding wild ride.

The Martial Arts Masters didn't hold back - in fact - on one occasion the fight scenes were so realistic and gut-wrenching that filmgoers cried out unexpectedly in the dark below the footlights.

Ugh!

Movie buffs found it difficult to suppress their emotions (and raw responses) as the lead characters also chewed their way through a a dozen-or-two henchmen in about two seconds flat (in the eye-popping opening scenes) and spat 'em out without ruffling their chic designer threads.

When a bit of witty unexpected off-the-wall dialgoue interspersed with the high drama - the ambitious "Clash" - soared into Classic Film heaven.

Unlike some U.S. action-adventure features, the actors were able to keep the ticket-holders on the edge of their plush seats with - mind-boggling thrilling jabs, kicks, head-butts, and lethal spins - which were jarringly realistic.

The gang-leader (with the unlikely name of Phoenix) captivated fans with her strident, dangerous, sensual persona.

The male stud who played opposite her, turned in a remarkably gritty performance, that is bound to nab him International stature and rustle up a roster of film projects to keep his lithe powerful bod in action for a decade or so.

The soundtrack was phenomenal!

Frankly, I was so mesmerized, I didn't want the film to end!

I'll be there for the sequel, 'fer sure.

Now, if they could only sign on Angelina Jolie, to make way for a naughty Martial Arts three-way!

Kinky, I know!

Fan gets physical...PDA ban lifted for a sec!

Old-fashioned Courtship preferred...

Last night I slipped into The Abbey for about thirty minutes to check out the scene.

After all, the trendy watering hole on Robertson in West Hollywood is quite the social whirl around 6 p.m. on Sunday evenings.

Good-looking, fashionably-attired patrons are inclined to sip on exotic cocktails, engage in a little cruising, and occasionally shake their booty a bit when an upbeat popular hit strikes up over the powerful loud speakers strategically placed around the artfully-decorated bar.

After chatting up a handful of acquaintances, I sauntered out into the street, homeward bound.

To stay in shape, I usually stroll around the pristine neighborhood on foot - rather than hop in my wheels. After all, burning a few calories here and there, keeps my lean bod in shape!

As I headed up Santa Monica Boulevard, I suddenly spied two handsome young men making a beeline for me.

Or, was it my imagination?

I half-expected that when they neared my position on the sidewalk - that they would skirt to one side - and let me pass. Surprise! Instead, the duo strutted right towards me, and summarily, blocked my path!

Was I going to finally have the opportunity to try out my Karate on real live subjects, at long last?

Finally, when one of the dudes got about "this-close" in my face, his eyes went wide as he stared into my eyes and gushed -

"I want a hug!"

Well, in my youth, public displays of affection (PDA's) were greatly scorned upon. But, what the heck, I was in a good mood.

A fan is a fan, right?

Needless to say, at the back of my mind, I thought the request odd in the bright light of day!

As we hugged for a sec, his friend chimed in, "He wants 'ya".

Sorry, dude! A lone hug would have to suffice.

After all, I'm one of those old-fashioned types.

I prefer to be wined and dined a bit before I'm inclined to jump in the hay!
