"How dare she," was the general consensus from an irate mob of mop-headed music snobs, who ranted on Twitter that Sean - Lennon's son - was disrepecting both piano and his father by posting a candid shot of Lady Gaga pounding on the keys.
On tweeter angrily sniped:
"Why would you let Lady Gaga play on John's piano?"
For starters, he's dead!
Duh.
Notwithstanding, as Sean astutely noted in his defense:
"Pianos are meant to be played. Why is everyone so uptight?"
Indeed, just betcha, John would be thrilled that famous artists in their own right have the magical opportunity to tickle the keys of the precious Steinway that once brought him so much joy and inspiration.
The celebrated instrument was a present to Yoko from John.
In the off-beat publicity still, the singer wears a body-fitting suit and thigh-high fishnets, in true "bad romance' style.
Frankly, if I were Yoko (the piano stands in plain view in her home), I'd make it a point of photographing musical artists passing through the doors in the memory of the spirit of John.
Lady Gaga is known for being a big John Lennon fan.
At the Human Rights Campaign's National Dinner in 2009, for instance, Gaga played John's inspirational ballad "Imagine."
Perhaps these disgruntled Lennon fans should take a gander at the lyrics of "Imagine".
In spite of the fact they claim to be die-hard respectful fans, their actions indicate otherwise, go against his philosophies, and sure to make John turn over in his grave.
