Barack Obama...does about face! To meet with Arizona Gov. Brewer!

Governor Brewer's hands tied?

The tongues began to wag when President Barack Obama announced that he will meet with Governor Brewer (Arizona) tomorrow at her request.

Just last week, the President appeared to be snubbing the beleaguered politician, when he initially informed her handlers that - in spite off the fact Brewer would be in Washington on other business - that his plate was too full to receive her.

Was a tight schedule the culprit?

Now that Obama has done an about-face - inquiring minds want to know - has the President bowed to pressure (and/or public opinion) in spite of the fact he is obviously still pi**ed at Brewer for signing into law a controversial Immigration law he perceives as flying in the face of the U.S. Constitution and paving the way for racial profiling?

School's Out for Summer...Party hearty, dudes! Glee summer camps popular...

Today, at approximately 8:40 a.m., students snatched  up a few lone items tucked away in their lockers, high-fived their buddies - maybe even signed a year book or two - then headed out to crank up the radio.

School's out for summer!

Uh-huh.

The youth of America are going their own way this sizzling hot summer until a new semester starts up in the leaf-scattered fall.

For some, it means lazy days at the beach perfecting a golden tan!

For others who fell short of passable grades (68 percent were expected to graduate) it may mean hitting the books at summer school.

Argh!

Then, there will be the industrious handful who will take on jobs to pay for their tuition, put some extra cash in their hands, you name it.

When I was a kid attending school (in Canada) the semester ended the last week of June.

Unlike our American counterparts, Canuck yahoos got kinda short-shrifted.

Summer holidays ran July through August.

North of the border, we got two lousy months off - not three - like the yanks bragged about!

Without fail, I anxiously looked forward to summer camp each year - a three-week stint of adventure - in the wilds of Northern Ontario.

A post on one of my fondest childhood memories at Camp Wabanaki may be rustled up by clicking on the link below.

According to a news flash, this summer quite a few fans of the popular TV hit - Glee - are signing up for summer camps around the country which provide workshops for budding performers interested in learning some of the songs and dance routines featured on the show this past season.

Hop to it, the spots are going fast!

Enjoy the lazy days of summer, eh?

Las Vegas...70's Summer Celebration! Flashback @ Freemont St. experience...

Today, a Summer 70's celebration, kicks off on Freemont Street in downtown Las Vegas.

And with it, 100 days of madness, which will showcase costumed performers, enthusiastic tourists (and locals) festooned in garb from the era - including, but not limited to - paisley shirts, head bands, and the ubiquitous blue jean!

Undoubtedly, there will be a poignant disco flashback or two, that will propel guests back to a more innocent place and time in American history.

The stage, according to one local newsie, is getting "groovy" this very morning.

Saunter down there and check it out, eh?

Every week there will be acts to catch on stage throughout the summer months in the funky old part of Vegas!

A highlight of the festivities is a Classic auto show that revs up on Saturday and Sunday this weekend.

Dress up in threads from the era.

Lime green pants, anyone?

See 'ya there!

Justin Bieber...auspicious sign for a pop tune! Heartthrob shirtless...

Tin Pan Alley!

In the olden-golden-days it was often speculated that if a theatre-goer strolled out of a Broadway production on Tin Pan Alley - and whistled one of the tunes featured in the show on opening night - that it would be a hit.

In the modern day, there are other auspicions signs that bode well for a Pop singer.

For example, today a local News Anchor in Vegas noted that his three-year old dances around the house excitedly chirping the Justin Bieber lyrics:

"Baby, baby, baby!"

Uh-huh.

Pure gold!

Baby, baby, baby!

Cher...turns back time! Discounted tickets at Caesar's...

Queen of the thong!

Legendary Pop Diva Cher - is celebrating the 21st Anniversary of her hit - "Turn back Time" - in a novel way.

In memory of the chart-topper (that turned her career around and thrust her back into the sizzling spotlight after a short lull) the unstoppable chanteuse is "turning back time" and offering up concert tickets at Caesar's in Las Vegas at 80's prices!

Such a deal, baby!

I expect a bevy of 'em will be snapped up before the blink of-an-eye.

See ya there!

Al Gore...and wife Tipper to separate! A convenient truth...

After four decades the marriage of former Vice President Al Gore and his wife, Tipper, appears to be kaput.

The man who faced inconvenient truths in the past, has confided that he and lovely Tipper will be going their own ways.

The Gores noted in unision in an e-mail (what, no tweet?) that the split was "a mutual and mutually supportive decision that we (the Gores) have made together following a process of long and careful consideration".

Al Gore was Bill Clinton's second-hand man (VP) at the White House during slick Willy's Presidency.

Unfortunately, Al lost his hard-fought battle in the 2000 presidential election to George W. Bush.

A new door opened for Mr. Gore when he began to focus on raising the conciousness about the environment - by virtue of the the documentary (An Inconvenient Truth) - which he nabbed an Academy Award for (The Oscar).

The project was so well-received that Mr. Gore was honored with a Nobel Peace Prize.

More deserving, by the way, than the one bestowed up President Barack Obama!

With what appeared to be minimal effort, the Gores managed to sustain the image of a happy American couple during the chapter of their lives when Mr. Gore served as Vice President for eight years in the White House.

The Gore's have four adult children, Albert III, Karenna, Kristin, and Sarah.

Congressman Lamar Smith...FBI director asked to investigate Sestak scandal! 13 Repubs join in...

Congressman Lamar Smith and 13 other Republicans sent a letter on Friday to FBI Director Robert Mueller requesting an investigation into the Sestak scandal.

If you recall, I reported last week that Representative  Joe Sestak (D-PA) disclosed that former President Bill Clinton conveyed an offer of an administration post to Senator Sestak - if he dropped his bid for the Democratic Senate Committee - which Senator Arlen Specter was seeking.

Because of the seriousness of the allegations - and due to a potential conflict of interest - Lamar Smith questioned the manner in which the White House had been handling the brewing scandal.

"It's not really up to White House to decide whether they did anything wrong or not,” Smith told Fox News a scant few hours ago.

The Texas lawmaker - a high ranking Republican on the House Judiciary Committee - doubted the ability of the Department of Justice to conduct an "objective investigation” because (in his view) the department was "too politicized."

The congressman said a probe was warranted by the FBI because of "so many suspicions that have been raised."

"If it was a presidential advisory board, which one?" Smith asked in view of the nature of the Sestak offer and the lack of specific details offered up.

If there was a quid pro quo, some argue that the "offer" - in that event - would  require a criminal investigation and prosecution depending on the findings.
