San Francisco...Hilton workers walk off job! Angry protest in streets...
I was strolling along the street doing a little window shopping just a short while ago, when I was confronted with an angry mob of Hotel workers protesting in front of the upscale Hilton in downtown San Francisco.
The situation has been bubbling over for while now.
In fact, when I was in town in January, a highly-vocal gang of protestors disrupted the lobby.
Although, the disgruntled employees eventually packed it up kit 'n kaboodle - and headed back into negotiations - it doesn't appear that there is a solution in sight yet!
In January, I reported Union reps were pushing for continued health care coverage with low co-payments which the Hotel is opposed to.
In fact, Hilton reps have taken the position that workers in the Bay area should help their end to cover ever-rising costs thrust on the providers in recent days due to the current economic climate around the country.
During that wild and raucous protest, the AFL-CIO President - Richard Trumka - was arrested.
Consequently, the issues were catapulted into the National spotlight.

The main issues - as you can well imagine - continue to focus on Insurance coverage and benefits.
What else?
Neither side appears to be willing to budge, so it may end being up a long fiery dispute, played out on the streets in the tony climbs of picturesque San Francisco.
As usual, tourists will gingerly step their way through the ka ka that is is otherwise known as union and hotel management negotiations.

American Idol...Pop Icon dames pitch-hit in Judge's hot seat! Abdul stewing...
"Everyone is expendable"
In spite of the fact American Idol big-wigs in the executive suite pooh-poohed any notion that the Paula Abdul switcheroo in the eleventh hour wouldn't hurt the perky little sexpot's chances for a second grab at the brass ring at Fox - they've definitely moved on - to bask in the glow of a different musical beat.
Starting the seventh week into the highly-rated talent showcase, a bevy of Pop Icon Superstars (of the glamorous female persuasion) will take up the celebrated task of judging the aspiring singers each week on Fox.
Victoria Beckham, trophy wife of soccer stud David Beckham, will grace the Idol stage when it revs up in January, for starters.
It'll be a ratings double-whammy for Fox if studly Becks trots in on the chanteuse's bejewelled arm, eh?
Producers have scooped up Katy Perry, too.
So much for Paula Abdul.
Who?
Winston Churchill once quipped:
"Everyone has his day and some last longer than others.

Paula Abdul...the quote of day? A nod to Mary McNamara quip @ Los Angeles Times...

On the heels of a tweet (in which Abdul warbled her Idol swan song) I whipped up a post to hasten along the startling news to die-hard fans and rapt industry-insiders.
Boo Hoo!
Today, the dailies were awash with a lot of rumor and innuendo, understandably.
Was the green-eyed monster (taunted & egged on by a lucrative Seacrest deal) holding-out for too much moolah - potential replacements snickered on the sidelines - as they rubbed their hands in glee and kept their eye on the brass ring?
Was nutso Paula being pushed out the door at the behest of ruthless money-grubbing suits in starched shirts only concerned with the bottom line?
Just maybe, the bimbo babe's negotiating ploys lost steam, in the gathering musical-chairs storm?
Mary McNamara - a journalist at the Los Angeles Times- offered up the best little ditty which gets a nod for the quote of the day.
"Just how much is a reliable train wreck worth?"
Whoopsie-daisy, Paula!
