Pamela Anderson...to celebrate Birthday @ Tao! July 10th (Las Vegas)...

Sexy Siren Pam Anderson isn’t going to let another year of mileage on her voluptuous bod curb her style.

In fact, the former VIP star is tossing a bash at TAO to celebrate the close of another spectacular year (personally and professionally).

Although Ms. Anderson didn’t nab the “Disco Ball” on Dancing with the Stars, for instance, along the contest trail the she managed to silence her critics and wow audiences with dazzling show-stopping numbers each week.

The Birthday Girl Blow-out is being hosted by TAO Beach & the TAO Nightclub on July 10th.

Kate Gosselin...gets boot from "Dancing". Lost spark yesterday morning...

Kate & Tony in happier segments!

To paraphrase a quote from the big ballsy musical "Chicago":

"She had it coming."

And, to many, it was obvious.

Yesterday morning, for instance, a disc jokey made the observation in a one-on-one interview with Ms. Gosselin - that the not-so-nimble cha cha gal - had lost her spark.

There was a pause, then Kate responded in total puzzlement.

"What do you mean?"

The DJ struggled for words.

"Well, you don't seem to be yourself today," he shrugged in so many words.

Of course, the rumors were running rampant, that Gosselin would be parting ways with her handsome upbeat partner (Tony) and bidding adieu to cast & crew alike at "Dancing with the Stars".

Gosselin - for once - was speechless.

Then, fate reared its ugly head last night, and Kate was suddenly faced with the bitter truth.

The perky show-biz novelty was shown the door.

Across the airwaves today, show biz reporters labelled the old heave-ho, one of the most shocking elimination segments of the season.

Did Kate feel betrayed?

Well, she should have seen the "dancing" on the wall.

Each week, the mother of eight managed to scrape by - in part due to a generous at-home audience - that saw her as a bit of mindless entertaining fodder to chew on.

But, even the appetite of die-hard-fans, was finally satiated.

Pamela Anderson and Damian Whitewood stood on the chopping block alongside Kate & Tony nervously as they awaited Bergeron's much-anticipated announcement.

The startling news was a shocker for Kate - so much so - that she had to take a moment to collect her thoughts.

"I need a minute," an emotional Kate told Tom and co-host Brooke Burke, before conceding the race.

Tony was quick on the uptake, handed Kate a much-needed tissue, and offered up a few choice words to soften the blow.

"You know what?  I'm very proud of Kate. She gets a lot of criticism out there and it is difficult."

"I give her all the credit in the world for showing up. As exhausted as she was, she still showed up every single day," he quickly added without hesitation.

"As a teacher, I am very proud of you because I thought you danced beautifully. You showed America it doesn't matter how much things go against you, you still come out here and give it your best."

"My gut feelings are always right and it's OK," Kate finally blurted out.

"I had the opportunity. I'm very, very honored to have been here. I love everyone that I met. It was a great experience."

And, the high drama continues next week, with the remaining stalwart hold-outs.

I'm biting my nails, already!

See 'ya there!

The Show must go on!

Pamela Anderson...drunken starlett stumbles out of Guys & Dolls! Sloppy seconds anyone?

Pamela's horizontal take on life!

Blond sexpot Pamela Anderson shocked onlookers when she stumbled out of Guys & Dolls nightclub in the wee hours this morning - dishevelled and out-of-control of her faculties - with nasty stains spotting the front of her ultra-tight chic party dress last night.

At one point, Pamela hid underneath her wild unruly mane of hair, as she was escorted to a waiting vehicle.

The tipsy top-heavy dance contestant should have called it a night.

Was the former Babewatch star just kicking up her heels (letting down her hair literally?) to release a little tension that had been mounting over the past week @  "Dancing with the Stars"?

Pamela narrowly missed being canned from the hit ABC show last round of the competition when she could barely pass muster with the viewing audience at home.

One gossip monger on a popular tabloid show was heard to mutter last night.

"It's the women. They don't like sluts like that," he spat out in disgust in so many words.

Another host on the tops ratings-getter was indignant about the unkind barb and stuck up for the former babe watch star.

"That's not true."

After her splashy night out on-the-town, Pam may have turned the corner in the regard now.

Maybe folks in middle America just wanted to give a true underdog (like Kate Gosselin) a chance instead of a big pampered Hollywood movie star?

Viewers at home were undoubtedly shocked when they caught sight of one video which captured a shot of  a man on top of the oiled-up starlett inside the night club trying to make out with her on the couch.

The panting horndog may have left some saliva behind on her chest in the wake of his animal passion!

Talk about sloppy seconds!

Want a go?

The line queues over there, dudes!

If a great dane jumped the dizzy dame last night, it's doubtful she would have been the wiser.

Not content to conjure up a big splash at the trendy watering hole, Pamela proceeded to make the rounds at Chateau Marmont Hotel (a notorious lair for night creatures and superstar party-heartiers) and Dominick's eatery.

Yeah, get some food into your stomach, Pam.

And, drinks lots of water; otherwise, you're going to be suffering with green gills and a splitting headache throughout the rest of the day.

Yeah, we've all been there!

Dancing with the Stars...Buzz moonwalks home! Kate Gosselin spared axe! Security tight!

"It's the best show on TV," raved a fan who braved the throngs and tight security (that required a body scan with a high-tec wand) to be up-close and personal for Tuesday night's episode of Dancing with the Stars.

Maybe, the dance lover was anxious to witness the drama in person?

After a tense week for the contestants - featuring  sad teary-eyed break-downs - anything was bound to unfold on stage this evening.

Would Kate Gosselin be given the axe?

Was a former astronaut's day in the sun coming to a poignant close?

In a way, dancers exiting stage right or left, would be a blessing for me (and most journalists reporting on the show).

Let's face it - a two-hour entertainment variety show with ten couples parading by non-stop - is a tough assignment even for a writer capable of lighting speed shorthand techniques.

The ess dancers there are to keep track up, the better for moi!

I confess - occasionally - it has been tough keeping up.

For starters, the blond bimbo babes all look the same to me!

Wigs, make-up, and dazzling body-transforming outfits by wardrobe masters, have added to the challenge this end.

So, take this as a kind of disclaimer.

If you want the exact scores without any mix-ups - or are keen on being abreast of the status of each couple up-to-the-minute, cruise on over to ABC's web site.

Gosh, my occasional slip-ups may be a plus for the network, because they're bound to get an overflow of traffic bouncing off the tattler site to theirs at ABC.

What is important to me is the color - the highlightss and the devastating lows - and the spirit of the competiton.

That's the meat of  "Dancing with the Stars", after all.

To be honest with y'all, two hours sensory overload, is a bit discaboobating!

An hour-and-half would be stretching it, really!

I'd be interested to take a gander at the ratings - and determine when and where the viewing  audience tuned in (or out) - during the course of the upbeat exciting dance competition.

By the way, the male dancers are easier to keep track of  generally - especially when they open their yaps - and end up stirring up controversy or titillating bill-of-fare.

For example,  when a ompeting athlete got excited about the thought of getting down 'n dirty next week on stage with his dance partner, host Tom Bergeron quipped that next week's episode would be pay-per-view.

By the way, thought that Evan's black jacket with a dazzling spray of stardust casting rainbows in the light,  was just FABULOUS darlings!

The black studs on the white dress shirt, and corectly-knotted bow tie, were tasteful stylish flourishes.

A host was inclined to dredge up the details of a "mickey" still haunting one couple.

Why did the winsome twosome break the rules in their quick-step performance?

The male cutie - Derek - confessed that he got swept away in the moment.

I hope he keeps a rubber in his wallet given his lack of self-control!

Wink! Wink!

Backstage, in an intimate moment, dancers noted that Tuesday night (eliminations) was the most stressful for everyone.

The troupe has become quite close-knit, has developed relationships, and feel like family at this juncture.

Niecy joked that she was the big mamma.

"I try to get these thin children to eat," she quipped (a bit envious of their toned bods?).

Two male dancers were spied outside of their trailers.

The spoils of their success?

I wonder if the comfy motorhomes rock from side-to=side (up & down, too) on quiet afternoons during break?

If we're to believe the gossip mongers on the night-time tabloid shows, yes!

Once dancer noted that Erin Andrews was down-to-earth and fun to be around.

In view of the death threats haunting her, not an easy row to hoe,  I expect.

After alot of entetaining segments - sandwhiched in-between slick high-profile advertisements at commercial break - it was time to get down to the nitty-gritty.

Was it my imagination, or did Pamela Anderson nearly faint, when the word came down that she was saved for another round of fancy glamorous footwork?

Kate Gosselin, who many predicted would be shown the backstage door, managed to finesse her way through for a triumphant encore next episode.

In a real cliff-hanging moment, Buzz Aldrin finally got the word.

It would be his last moonwalk home in the arms of his charming wife.

But, what a send off.

The audience jumped to their feet - and clapped and stomped their feet - in recognition of the man's ballsy chutzpah!

"Why did you take on this challenge, Buzz?" the pretty hostess probed.

"I did it for the fighter pilots, the military, and an old geezer - me!

Buzz Alrin, in the final anaylsis, is a gentleman and a scholar.

Not many of us left!

See 'ya next week.

Dancing with the Stars...death threats! Broken Rules! Bondage Themes!

There was a lot of high drama during rehearsals, on stage, and behind-the-scenes tonight on Dancing with the Stars.

Just before the curtain went up on the big Fox ratings-getter, the newswires were reporting that two of the female celebrity contestants on the show - Erin & Pamela - received death threats warning them not to dance "or else".

Though shaken, and emotionally wrought, both troopers followed true Hollywood tradition.

"The show must go!"

Two dancers - in sailor suits - got a total dressing-down from one judge for "breaking the rules".

Len was livid!

"It wasn't a traditional quick-step," he angrly scolded the handsome couple.

"It looked like a vaudeville act, with Gene Kelly returning to Hollywood fifty-years later," he noted with indignation.

Bruno agreed with Len that the winsome twosome didn't meet the criteria, but in spite of that little shortcoming, touted the performance for what it was.

I think Len was right to speak out, after all, it wasn't fair to the other contestants who were restricted by "Dancing with the Stars" rules - and thus - forced to meet the creative challenges imposed on them.

If every couple didn't follow the guidelines, and went their own way, what kind of a competition would that be?

In spite of the glaring misstep, one judge proudly waved an "8" on her score card, as if to spite Len.

Did Nicole and Derek get special treatment?

Just maybe, when you consider that while the other dancers sweated out their rehearsals in stuffy halls indoors at the studio, the darling couple tripped-the-light fantastic on a yacht in the harbour

Inquiring minds want to know!

Tonight's theme was "telling a story".

Ironic, that in Hollywood's dream factory at Fox studios, imaginative storytellers were far-and-few between.

Nicole and Derek chose to go the route of  two sailors slacking off.

There were surprises (at one point, when she held him in her arms, she dropped him without warning and he crashed to the floor dazed), lots of high-spirted fun (she bumped him in the mug with her butt at one point in the slick broadway-style number) and happy-go-luck moments that wowed the audience.

In fact, ecstatic fans jumped to their feet and roared their approval for several deafening moments.

His fair looks, and her almond-shaped face in olive tones (set off by a rich mane of lustrous black hair), were a winning combination.

They were striking on stage, in fact,  as they kicked up their heels and contorted their faces like keystone cops to the foot-tapping tune of "Anything Goes".

One judge quipped:

"When your show goes on the road, I want front row seats."

An Olympic skater - who broke two toes last week - valiantly danced on!

Buzz Aldrin stumbled through his stiff routine and faced critical judges once again.

The audience hissed and booed Len.

The former astronaut can do no wrong with the studio audience (or with viewers at home).

In rehearsal, Jake accused his female coach of treating him disrespectfully.

"Don't shut down, Jake," his partner begged.

They chose an Egyptian theme which was ho-hum.

Chelsea came off like a cheap tart in her torquoise peek-a-boo gown which was festooned with tacky flourishes.

Jake's chocolate brown suit was BORING!

Chelsea, was no Cleopatra, though she struggled to infuse some exotic sensuality into the mix.

Niecy was asked to imagine herself in the sixties in an era when inter-racial relationships were strictly taboo.

"Dancing with the Stars" got a little political at this juncture when her male partner (gay) hinted that scenario was one he was forced to face with his male lover daily.

Niecy broke down at one climatic moment and expressed  how sorrowful it would be not to be able to show love for the person you cared for.

"I can't imagine what it would be like not to be with my boyfriend because of society."

Is she getting some help with a stylist?

Although she wore a flower in her hair once again - her signature - her choices in respect to gown and accessories were vastly improved.

A cream-colored par-tay dress with sequins at the bodice suited her.

But, the long sleeves were a fashion missstep, since they took away from a V-line which would have given the impression she was a lot slimmer than she actually is.

Judges thought her to be a highly emotional dancer.

True!

Her partner, Louis, needed to focus on technique (the judges concurred)

The "wide receiver" for a sports team improved his performance this week most agreed.

"After last week, I needed to re-energize and focus."

His story, about a matador trying to seduce a woman, mirrored life.

The athlete's attempted advances on his dance partner have been roundly rejected!

Dear, didn't 'ya know - once you've had Black - you never go back?

Just ask the hookers who have been dating Tiger Woods!

His pretty partner, in bright red, was nothing short of a spitfire!

"It felt good to get cocky and arrogant," he growled.

Down, boy!

Pamela Anderson faces a curious dilemma.

Though loved by the Judges, viewers held back last week and left her shocked and stewing in the bottom two of the rank and file.

To bolster her morale, Coochie-Choochie gal Charo popped in to coach Pam on flamingo dancing.

"Because of your big maracas, you have to pay attention to your posture and form," she wickedly laughed.

Pam and her partner wowed the audience and judges alike with their dramatic routine danced to the strains of one of my favorite "Animals" hits "Don't Let me Be Misunderstood".

One judge gushed that Pam got the story.

"You have a certain artistry that is great."

Bruno quipped:

"You were like a Bridgette Bardot playing a gypsy Queen. Fantastic!"

Aiden, was given the task of imaging a woman of his dreams, who magically materializes.

"She's killing me," he panted heavily in rehearsal.

The audience oohed and aahed when his wife appeared (by virtue of video clip) unexpectedly on his birthday with 7 month-old baby in tow.

His quick-step, one judge pointed, needed to be carefree (not careful).

Bruno, on the other hand, thought he gave the impression of being happy as a clam.

In a kinky segment, Erin was blindfolded and led around the stage at her partner's sinister whim.

In the rehearsal hall, he stressed that it was his way of gaining her trust.

Her gown was fashioned in glittering silver tones with sparkly flourishes at the bodice

"If you start with a blindfold, you may end up in handcuffs," Bruno cackled.

"There was a sense of danger. It was also breathtakingly artistic," another judge gushed.

The shocking disappointment of the night was the performance (!) by Kate Gosselin.

At rehearsal, she broke down in tears, and noted how difficult it was to let go of the mask she wore to the world.

"It's what I use to help me and my kids survive."

So, the producers brought in an acting coach, to help her "emote".

Kate went over-the-top with an idea she was unfortunately unable to execute successfully.

Her take on Lady GaGa and the frenzied Paparazzi not only fell flat - but rustled up a batch  of bad reviews.

"It was - um - strange," one stammered.

Her bold-faced efforts to channel her frustrations into the routine didn't pan out.

To me, she came off like a child's doll that sprang to life, in need of oiling at the joints.

A cheesy scene from a low-budget B-horror flick?

You betcha!

Bruno labelled it pedestrian, with no passion or drama.

"A bitch from hell," he summarized.

Tom Bergeron quipped:

"And, that was a compliment."

They sure have skewered ideas on "Dancing with the Stars".

It's kind of like a train wreck, though.

No matter how hard you try, you can't tear yourself away from the scene of the tragedy.

Why is that?

Dancing with the Stars...Pam nearly a goner! Beach Boy tribute with Stamos a highlight!

Shortly after the lights went up on the stage of "Dancing with Stars" tonight - the jolts and surprises -  packed a couple of hard-hitting whallops.

Pam Anderson (myself included) was stunned by the news that after the vote count was tallied from the viewing audience that she was relegated to the bottom two!

 And, wonders never ceased!

Buzz Aldrin must have crapped in his pants - when he was given the nod to return next week - in spite of a poor showing with the Judges last night.

Fans demonstrated the obvious!

Wowing audiences at home with dazzling costumes and fancy footwork doesn't always hold sway with fans entirely!

Tugging their heart-strings appears to be the key to scoring big with music-lovers around the country.

But Buzz is no fool!

"The Judges were right," he chuckled (about his performance)

"I was patriotic and served my country. My friends in the space program probably had something to do with this."

When Pamela was quizzed about what happened (???) her response was short and sweet.

"Whoops!"

At this juncture, producers opted to build the suspense by prolonging the outcome.

Fox sparked up the show with skits, a band performance, and a peek at the daily routine of competent co-hosts Brooke Burke and seasoned pro Tom Bergeron.

Shots of Brooke rehearsing lines with Tom, in the make-up room, and announcing contestants on a mic backstage as they sauntered down the stairs into the glare of the spotlight, were a fascinating look at life back stage.

"When I chat with the contestants, that is not scripted. So, I try to engage in a real conversation."

The Beach Boys - considered to be one of America's all-time favorite (best) bands - brought back alot of nostalgia with their hot performance of  "Fun Fun Fun".

Former Soap  star - John Stamos - wowed the folks in attendance with a solid stint on the drums.

In fact, the gig triggered a prolonged standing ovation, that didn't look like it would ever end.

In a hilarious colorful sketch, Len - outfitted as Moses - cited the ten commandments at Fox's hit show
to be mindful of.

For example - Thou shalt not do lifts, Thou shalt not have rhinestones, and Thou shalt honor the judges - were stand-out no-no segments that hit my funnybone.

In a fun twist, the professional dancers (the hired instructors coaching the contestants) were rustled up to dance a special number - with the ultimate aim of letting them strut their stuff - so contestants could see what "dance" was all about.

The vastly entertaining segment was - sexy, upbeat, spirited, choreographed well - and somewhat  reminiscent of boy-band slick schtick.

The light show dazzled!

There were jokes about Bruno and Elton John tom-catting around in France.

"Elton & Bruno loose in Southern France in the carefree eighties? Why, they must have bagged every chick in town," the commentator chuckled.

When a staffer strode up and whispered in his ear, a shocked look spread across his face.

"Elton John, too?" he asked increduously.

On the heels of the recent announcement by Ricky Martin that he is "gay" - the wicked humor was timely - and well-received by the open-minded guests.

In a solemn segment a troup of dancers from Haiti (sponsored by Macys) gave tribute to the victims of the devastating earthquake.

Interested viewers were invited to visit the web site and contribute funds.

www.abettercommunity.com

Neicy (who was saved and will appear next week) giggled that all the tension made her both anxious and hungry at the same time!

At the close of the show, I breathed a sigh of relief; after all, Pamela Anderson (my fave dancer) was spared the axe!

When I checked twitter, I noticed right off-the-bat, that follower Shannon Tweed posted info on how to vote for Pamela in upcoming segments.

Guess Shannon was worried too!

Because Pam was saved  it meant another hoofer went home in her stead.

Unfortunately, Shannon Doherty was a victim of the unkind fickle finger of fate.

"I'm not a dancer," she confided to  the hosts.

The journey was a fulfilling one for her, though.

As it turns out, it worked out for the best.

Yesterday, her partner tore a muscle off the bone during their performance, and would have left Shannon in a lurch with a new partner to trip-the-light fantastic with in future episodes.

Not a pretty prospect, she fessed up.

In a touching closing moment, all the dancers swarmed over the likeable twosome, and smothered them with hugs!

'Til next week, eh?

Pamela Anderson...tigress in jungle print undies! But is it fashion, dahlink?

Art Connoisseurs were a bit shocked when they ran smack-dab into actress Pamela Anderson casting a critical eye at a batch of canvasses on display at a gallery opening this past week.

The former "tool-time" gal and V.I.P. "it" poster bombshell must have been in a mad dash when she headed out for the - um - cultural night on the town.

According to eyewitnesses, the sexy siren forgot to toss on some threads.

An over-sized shirt - cum shift-style sloppy pullover - exposed one shoulder and fell awkwardly about her voluptuous bod.

But, down under is where the prying eyes were glued!

Had Ms. Anderson sipped one-too-many cocktails - which accounted for her dishevelled state - or was she unaware her jungle print panties were exposed and blowing (among other things) in the wind?

Maybe, Pam is vying for a spot on my 10 Worst-dressed list when the New Year rings in?

Pssst!

I've already rustled up five scintillating ladies just ripe for the fashion victim catwalk.

News at 11!

Will the motorcycle Momma get a nod?

Pamela Anderson...reporter at Review-Journal takes unwarranted swipe at VIP star!

On Saturday, Pamela Anderson delighted fans when she turned up at Planet Hollywood for a much-publicized celebrity auction.

To rev up a bit of excitement in the crowd, the former VIP star tossed off her top, then sidled up to the auctioneer to participate in the proceeding with a lot of sensual vim and vigor!

By the time the hammer smacked down and the auctioneer barked out sold, Ms. Anderson helped raise $65,000.00 for her favorite charity, PETA.

Instead of applauding the sexy siren for her compassionate act, a reporter at the Review-Journal (who was penning a blase piece on celluloid artists at the CineVegas Film Festival) chose to take a swipe at the pop icon instead.

Mr. Elfman (who looks like an elf, by the way) used the occasion to help build a foundation for some piffle he was penning for the daily.

On the premise that her "excited flutter of a pep talk" and willingness to "roll around on the car" to pump up sales (her 2000 Viper was being offered at auction) lacked class, he proceeded to compare her to the filmmakers who attended the CineVegas Film Festival this year.

In sum, he quipped that the art house film fest enriched by virtue of the alleged intellectual tastes of the fimmmakers who - "unlike certain people named Pamela Anderson" - were actually talented.

What a load of hogwash!

For starters, Ms. Anderson was not part of a CineVegas event.

Notwithstanding, the boisterous antics she engaged in were all part of her "act".

I worked with Ms. Anderson several years ago on the first season of the popular TV Sitcom "Home Improvement". During the kick off episodes, I had a bit part as a producer in the show within-a-show ("Tool Time") and Pamela played the bodacious "Tool Time" girl.

In private, Pamela is actually quite shy, intelligent, and every bit a class act.

Not unlike Marilyn Monroe (or Mae West before her) the persona one encounters in the public eye is one she cleverly crafted. Over the past couple of decades, the Pamela Anderson "brand" has not only withstood the fickle finger of fate in Tinsel town, but turned the voluptuous actress into a bona fide "star".

Contrary to Elf's empty opinion, Pamela is a smart cookie, too!

In fact, Elfman went way out on a limb with his pap, because - in essence - he was trying to compare oranges with apples. No can do!

The low-brow writer was under the mistaken impression that he was writing an in-depth insightful essay of importance. What the feature amounted to was a lot of misguided tabloid fodder.

Surely, the Review-Journal is not so strapped when it comes to worthwhile news, that they're forced to print Elfman's crap?

In another section of the article, the columnist matter-of-fact states that artist Takashi Murakami (who appeared at CineVegas Festivities at an elitist affair last week which caused quite a scandal in some quarters) is an important twentieth century figure in art circles.

Why, pray tell?

According to Elf, Murakami is being compared to Andy Warhol for "having fused fine art with pop art."

What nonsense!

I was an Art Major and I began my career as an abstract-expressionist painter.

For starters, Mr. Murakami's out-of-whack smiley faces amount to nothing more than silly doodles, worthless "junk".

Whenever his name pops up in a serious art discussion at a gallery opening, qualified experts roll their eyes. Then, an old expression flashes to mind.

"I don't know much about art, but I know what I like."

People who "like" Murakami have taste up the wazoo.

I didn't conjure up the nick-name - "tacky" - for no good reason. In fact, I wouldn't even line the kitty litter box with one of his prints. After all, I wouldn't want to insult my cat.

In conclusion, the whole article on CineVegas reeked of behind-the-scenes maneuvering to me.

The way Elf gushed about this 'n that, for example, inferred to me - at least - that he's either on someone's payroll over there at CineVegas or too fond of the free passes (and perks that go with 'em) to dare cross the powers-that-be.

I prefer to read articles that are written by ethical journalists who endeavour to log in a balanced account of the events.

At a small-town newspaper like the Review-Journal, I guess management can't take the risk of offending potential advertisers with clout, by reporting the truth.

Until they do, their credibility is a big fat zero.

Review-Journal is the best? By whose standard?

Las Vegas..."Band She" rocks at Paris; Midnight with Pamela Anderson, and Lounge Lizards at Planet Hollywood!

Well, on Christmas Eve, the all girl group - "BAND SHE" - really rocked Paris (not the socialite celeb, guys) - at the Hotel of the same name in Las Vegas. The pretty, talented ladies were all gussied up in black and pink - and made quite an impression on the holiday revelers who were out in good cheer!

Meanwhile, down the road at "Planet Hollywood", the management was featuring Karaoke on Tuesday night...gee, was this how Elvis got discovered? Judging by the enthusiastic crowds who jumped up and belted out songs non-stop with gusto - the weekly event should be a mainstay for awhile.

There was a lot of excitement elsewhere on the strip, too.

At midnight, the "Mirage" featured a spectacular light and water show outside the Hotel which peaked with a stunning display of fireworks - flames that roared about 500 feet in the air - which wowed the thronging masses snapping away with their digital cams on Las Vegas Boulevard beyond the guard rail.

When I stopped in to the MGM Grand, a large capacity crowd was also marveling at the "Lion Habitat"; gee, brave tourists can actually walk under a glass walkway as a pride of Lions stride above in all their spectacular, powerful beauty.

Down on the old strip, I stumbled across a great little restaurant in the Four Queens (!) Hotel, which offers up an incredible breakfast special for $4.95. If you've got a big appetite, then the large platter with eggs, ham (replete with bone in the middle, which you can pack away and take home for the dog), hash browns (with a crusty, tasty skin toasted to perfection) toast, and piping hot coffee will start the day off right.

Around the cocktail hour, tourists in the "know", were slipping into the "Golden Gate" down the street for scrumptious shrimp cocktail - at 99 cents a crack. Ah, just like the old days in Vegas...a deal can be had!

At the Casinos I scored quite well with my gambling...granted, it struck me a little odd that folks actually bet on one-arm bandits with names like - "Cops & Doughnuts", "Tabasco, "Wild Pepper", and the like...but, whatever gets you off, eh?
Believe it or not, on a "Wild Wolf " slot machine, I hit a jackpot which paid all my expenses for the day. To date, I'm ahead of the game; but, I don't go hog wild, if you know what I mean.

A handful of Asian tourists asked for my assistance in figuring out the wagering scheme on the betting line; frankly, I was staggered by the sums the joyful lot wanted to gamble each pull of the arm.

Not like some, my strategy is to move on when I win - play a new round with my winnings (for good luck) at another machine - and try for the big pay-outs just waiting to strike. Oftentimes, they do, and have.

I laughed when I noticed a number of hard-core gamblers stroking the front panels of the slot machine - as if with a magic wand - to beckon a stroke of luck. Well, whatever works for ya!

Some old-timers are so stubborn, though! In spite of rising losses, many are inclined to hang on to one lone game - plugging in coins of the realm hourly - waiting for the pay-off, which - sadly - often never does.

The town was purring with quite a few sleek limos last night with brides and grooms in tow; yup, the chapel doors are wide open 'til the wee hours of dawn, in the event some hopeless romantics are hankering for a quickie wedding in Nevada.

What really surprised me was the smoking everywhere! We're so spoiled in California, with our restrictions, and all.

In the Casinos, there are nasty butts in ashtrays everywhere, and folks just smokin' up a storm. Fortunately, the habit - which many deem nasty - doesn't bother me in the least. However, I noticed a handful of visitors - who have smoke regulations in the city's they journeyed from - were obviously taken aback by the puffers in prominence everywhere!

In the next week, there's plenty of entertainment to take in, if you're pining for a quick get-a-way.

Right now, there is an excellent exhibition of photographs from the "Titanic", for instance. In this well-archived show, there are over 300 authentic artifacts on display, which were rescued from the Titantic's final resting place 2 1/2 miles beneath the North Atlantic.

And, there's another more intriguing display which is aptly entitled, "Bodies...The Exhibition". The show - housed at the "Tropicana" - features about twenty-one whole-body specimens, in addition to more than 260 organs and partial body specimens, for your inspection up-close and personal. Critics are calling the unique experience, "...both transfixing and educational".

I'm been informed that the insightful foray explores a handful of realistic problems which occur due to over-eating and smoking; so, definitely - Bodies - is not for the squeamish! If you are fascinated by the skeletal, muscular, respiratory, and circulatory systems - this one's for you.

The truly macabre-minded will undoubtedly take it in on a double-bill with a screening of "Sweeney Todd".

Then, there's the big "Fight" on December 29th...with the two top contenders - St. Pierre vs. Hughes - at "Mandalay Bay". Heavyweights in both show business and the sports arena will be in attendance, with a lot of lookie-loos on the sidelines, catching the blow by blow action.

"Earth Wind & Fire" will be in concert at the "Venetian" on December 31st.

And, Pam Anderson will be at "Pure" (the Baywatch beauty, tool-time girl I worked with on "Home Improvement") at Caesar's Palace.

The Beatles show - "LOVE" - is a big draw right now (Cirque Du Soleil) at the "Mirage", which was directed by Dominic Champagne, with musical bravado by Sir George Martin & Giles Martin respectively.

For die-hard "Back Street Boys" fans, the night will be edgy and wild at the "Hard Rock", when the guys get dirty for a countdown at midnight on December 31st.

For those with off-beat tastes: "Carrot Top" - remember him? - is at the "Atrium Showroom", while the "Chippendales" dancers are still going strong at the Rio.

Well, something to appeal to every taste.

Although I spent the holiday in "sin" city, I managed to get back to my Hotel before the witching hour and caught the Pope's midnight mass on NBC...ah, managed to save my soul by the stroke of twelve.

Happy Holidays!
