San Francisco...trigger-happy security guards upset residents!

Recently, some San Francisco residents have been up-in-arms over hired security guards who patrol the downtown streets - sporting a uniform similar to one worn by the San Francisco Police Department - and packing a gun.

Because the cocky cop look-a-likes have no police training - or formal knowledge of the law (especially in respect to Civil Rights) - concerned individuals have been rallying to end their rein of cowboy-style justice in the Bay area.

Though some local shop-keepers have supported their presence in the neighborhood - after all, SF Police Officers are not capable of taking on the task of copper-on-the spot 24/7 in the mean streets of the downtown city core - others lament that without proper training they are a disaster waiting to happen.

Indeed, in recent weeks, one resident was fatally shot by a security guard who many thought was trigger happy and out-of-line.

Personally, I have found that rent-a-cops - and security guards - are not qualified to carry a gun or function in a capacity as citizen protectors.

In fact, I have written articles in the past on security guards at - Safeway, Pavilions, and Ralph’s - underscoring their lack of judgment, tendency to bully individuals and overstep their authority, and so-forth-and-so on.

When you consider that the large percentage of these guards are uneducated and lack the intelligence to act responsibly in the setting they’ve been hired to inhabit as local super hero, it’s obvious that the public at large is at risk.

Indeed, many of the guards are flunkies.

They couldn’t pass the police exam, or land a post as a Sheriff, so they took the job that was the next best thing.
If the truth be known, many of these losers probably have psychological problems to boot.

For example, they may have been pushed around when they were kids.

Or, a handful of them may be impotent.

So, a - uniform, badge and gun - are used to bolster their manhood.

That is a dangerous proposition from the get-go.

I agree that the cop wannabees should hang up their monkey suits and turn in their guns.

Until they do, no Citizen will be safe or free of harassment on the streets of  San Francisco.

Pavillions...loss of customers due to employee stupidity!

At the crack of dawn, the morning light wakes me up without fail, so I head over to Pavillions to pick up the newspaper, pluck up a light snack, and wait for Starbuck's to open at six.

Occasionally, I zoom into the parking lot early, so I listen to the morning news on the radio.

Without fail, during the course of the week, it does not escape my attention that Pavillions is losing shoppers on an almost daily basis because their employees are too stupid to figure out the obvious!

For example, although the Pavillions outlet in West Hollywood is open 24 hours, only one door remains available for customer use in the middle of the night (for security reasons I guess).

Because that "main" door is on the side of the building about fifty feet away from the street, many customers are not aware that is open during off hours, when the other doors are locked tight.

Consequently, time and time again, I have witnessed individuals walk up to the street entrance (where the garden shop is situated) then jump back into their car and drive off when they determine the glass-sliding-door is locked.

Well, it's pretty obvious, isn't it?

How is it that I have noticed the problem - and subsequent loss of shoppers - but no one at Pavillions has?

Because they're morons with IQ's of about 2, that's why!

All the Manager has to do to resolve the problem is post a notice at the front door stating the hours of operation ( midnight to six o'clock a.m) - and likewise - note that the side door is open twenty-four hours for all-night shoppers to access.

Duh!

Couple the aforementioned shortcoming with the fact that most employees at this Pavillion's outlet have little or no personality (and no communication skills to speak of) and it's easy to fathom why this grocery store is fu**ed!

Vons...employees @ Vegas grocer courteous & outgoing! Kudos...

In one post this past week I was a bit harsh with the locals in Las Vegas on the heels of a couple of annoying frustrating encounters with clueless unskilled store employees at a handful of local retail outlets.

Subsequently, I thought it only fair to also mention occasions when workers act in an exemplary fashion, too.

After all, these selfless giving individuals - who toil away daily - are role models to look up to.

For example, before I started off on the next leg of my journey in the Mojave Desert, I popped into Vons to snatch up some snacks to nibble on.

A down-to-earth woman stepped out from behind the cooler in the Deli section and greeted me with a broad smile.

“Anything I can help you with, dear?”

Then, she offered me a free sample of chicken just rousted from the oven.

The butcher behind the meat case grinned and gave me a cheery hello, too.

When I got to the small line at the check-out - a gentleman with a few more items than moi - beckoned for me to go ahead.

Smooth sailing at Vons.

It used to be pleasant like this at Pavillions in West Hollywood until an unsavory element took over.

I confess!

All the folks I crossed paths with at Vons in Vegas were midde-class white Americans without any "attitude" or delusions of grandeur.

Maybe that was why the service was so prompt, courteous and professional!

Maybe I need to re-think where I shop on a regular basis, eh?

Kudos to Vons.

West Hollywood Pavillions...finally gets message! Hires white male security guard...sigh!

After the fiasco with the Popcorn Mafia at the New Beverly Cinema last night, I zipped over to Pavillions to snatch up a snack just shy of the witching hour.

As I strolled through the front doors, I pinched myself.

Was I dreaming?

Right off-the-bat (in plain view) I caught sight of newly-installed security guard.

And, guess what?

He was tall, white, and standing at his post in a respectful dignified manner!

At long last, Pavillions woke up, and smelled the coffee.

In recent weeks, shortly after a long drawn-out renovation, Pavillions threw its doors open wide once again.

But, the celebratory mood subsided - and turned to anger - when long-time Caucasian residents continued to encounter rude imposing African-American security guards on duty daily who harassed them when they shopped.

To many, it was obvious, that the posse of gruff uniformed employees were racist.

Although many complaints were uttered up - and I penned a couple of posts on the controversial issue - Pavillions proceeded to cast a blind eye to the ongoing problem.

In view of what has finally unfolded before my very eyes, it appears that Pavillions has finally fathomed the intriguing (complex) social strata that is at the heartbeat of West Hollywood.

Now that I have published this post, I expect all the girls (and local females, too) will be darting in to Pavillions to get a gander at the tall handsome security guard, who fits into the terrain comfortably.

Sorry, folks, I saw him first!

Pavillions...fraud! Deceptive business practices! Theft at cashier's desk...

When you head to the check out at Pavillions, it may be a good idea to keep track of the charges being inputted into the cash register.

This is especially true if you plucked up some produce or cleaning solvents because you were under the impression the goods were on sale as advertised at the stall, by eye-catching flyer, or in a splashy TV blurb.

The truth of the matter is that quite a few of the Pavillions sales are a scam designed to lure shoppers into the store!

It is doubtful Pavillions intended to follow through in good faith.

For example, over the past couple of days when I procceded to cash out, my eagle eye caught the clerks ignoring sale items and charging full price.

Just yesterday, in fact, I encountered a frustrating experience which signalled how dishonest (and deceptive) Pavillions management is.

I spied bottled water on sale for 99 cents.  In fact, how could I miss this reduced item, since the tag was about six inches by six inches in size and placed directly where the product sat in neat rows in the cooler.

But, when I attempted to ring the item in at the automated cashier, the price rang up at $1.76.

I called over the box boy standing a stone's throw away and pointed out the error.

Oh, we was quick on the uptake, alright.

"The sale is for bottled water in plastic containers," he snidely remarked.

So, I trotted back to the refrigerator, re-checked the price, and snatched up the spring water in a plastic bottle.

Once again, the item rang up @ $1.76.

Liar!

On the second occasion, he simpleton couldn't even be bothered (too lazy or too embarassed?) to haul his sorry a** back to the display to verify the price.

The skinny as-a-rail loser called over to another employee to check the price (again!).

The word back?

Now the price was two bottles for $3.00

Huh?

At this juncture, I basically hinted at where he could put his bottle of water with the floating price tag.

Needless to say, I have posted this Consumer Alert, to warn customers who shop at Pavillions to keep their eye on those thieves at the check-out stand.

They'll rob 'ya blind!

Walgreens...CVS & Safeway el cheapo outfits! Bag, please...

If you've sauntered into CVS, Walgreens, Pavillions or Safeway in recent days, you’ve probably noticed an alarming low-class trend.

After the cashier has rung up the items and collected the cash - instead of neatly packing the purchases in a bag with a store logo etched on the face - the ill-mannered clerks snarl at the shopper.

“Do you want a bag?”

Huh?

Personally, I’m not a magic act - and thus - not inclined to hanker up to the idea of juggling three or four bulky objects in my bare hands as I head out the front door and down the street to my waiting vehicle.

Especially when you consider that some dim-witted security guard with half a brain will give me (and other shoppers) the once-over if they spy us waltzing out the door without a bag and receipt in hand.

As far as I’m concerned, if the stores in question need to scrimp on shopping bags, they shouldn’t be in business.

If I am forced to interact with the morons they install at the counter to handle the simple transactions, the least they can do is provide a bag to make the whole process a little more consumer friendly.

These el cheapo outfits are not only a shopper’s nightmare, but a disgrace to the community at large.

The self-serve automated check-outs are looking better each day!

Pavillions...insults customers to save face! Sagging profits pay-back...

Low-life Pavillions' employees insult customers!
(older blond hag on cashier the worst)

Oh, those a**holes at Pavillions will never learn, will they?

As I noted in a past post, the employees at the West Hollywood outlet have an IQ of about  2, between the lot of them.

Post:  02/22/10

http://ijulian.blogspot.com/2010/02/pavillionscashier-jumps-to-conclusion.html

For example, in recent weeks on my consumer alert page, I warned readers (and shoppers near-and-far) about their racist African-American security guards, harassment of customers while they were innocently shopping (at whim) for the week's groceries, male employee closet-cases trying to put the make on customers in the men's room, and so forth and so on.

One day, I focused on Pavillions' tendency to jump to conclusions about the habits of some of their customers, who are regulars and long-time residents in the neighborhood.

For instance, at the crack of dawn - a posse of residents stream into the grocery store, snap up a bit of fruit, maybe grab a coffee and doughnut - then proceed to plunk themselves down in the Starbuck's cafe to read the paper (after they've paid for the items).

One employee (after-the-fact) - with a bad attitude and looks to match - would then stride through the cafe and assume that the customers didn't pay for their snacks (and what-not)  when he spied empty wrappers and half-full cups of java on their tables.

As I noted in my post, a number of loyal patrons started to get annoyed about being "falsely accused" (by inference, for starters) that they were gobbling up their morning breakfast in the cafe without paying (in spite of the fact they had their receipts in tow to prove otherwise).

Instead of recognizing the error of their employee's despicable unprofessional (unjust) conduct (which amounted to defamation of character and which warranted disciplinary action) Pavillions proceeded to post a rude insulting sign on the side panel of a partition in bold-faced type:

ATT:
CUSTOMERS
PLEASE PAY BEFORE EATING
THANK YOU

Yup.

They're trying to toss the blame on the customer when - in fact - it rests squarely on their own drooping shoulders.

In view of the fact I penned a post enlightening neighborhood shoppers and residents about the stupidity of the cashier and the false assertions, Pavillions should have taken extra precaution not to misjudge (or jump to conclusions) in the future.

Instead, they chose to slap their customers in the face with their insulting sign.

No wonder Safeway (owner of Pavillions) has suffered  a loss of revenue over the past quarter.

Shoppers (and locals alike) are turning away from Pavillions in view of the disturbing conduct of the a**holes in their employ.

As far as I am concerned, they're a useless gang of low-lifes, as evidenced by their revolting conduct.

Losers, the lot of 'em!

Pinky Vodka...exotic cocktails anyone? Thirst-quencher in Vegas...

One weekend during the splashy Gala Opening at Pavilion's in West Hollywood, one of the salesman (a handsome smartly-dressed dude) was on hand to tout the therapuetic virtues of Pinky Vodka.

Oy veh!

Although shoppers weren't treated to spiked-up cocktails ringside the cantaloupes and squash on sale, there were a number of mixers offered up with the specific aim of getting the creative barkeep ideas flowing pronto!

In addition, the company - Pinky Vodka - handed out (freebies!) delightful cocktails recipes to consider as the festive reason rolls 'round in the months ahead.

Heck, in the hot desert oasis whre I am sprawling by the pool right now, I'm about ready to toss some of  the mouth-watering ingredients together myself.

Give it the old college try, in fact!
