Ryan Seacrest...signs million-dollar pact with Clear Channel!

This past week - Ryan Seacrest starting rolling-in-the-hay - after he signed his John Henry to a 3-year pact guaranteed to rustle up a few million in his checking account already brimming with big bucks.

Clear Channel announced that Ryan will continue to host his top-rated radio show at Kiss FM (102.7) for the next three years.

The cherubic Seacrest will also helm the popular American Top 40 count-down show in the heady capacity of Producer.

The MySpace friend (can 'ya spare a mil, Ryan dearest?) has the option to green light and develop other media projects including-but-not-limited-to a record label, a handful of Live Concerts, and the lucrative production of TV and Radio Shows.

Robert W. Pittman - Clear Channel's Chariman of Media and Entertainment - had noting but kudos for the DJ with the infectious grin and the soothing tones.

"He (Seacrest) is a true visionary who has firmly established himself as America's currator of Popular Culture."

Quite an image to live up to, but I am sure Ryan will manage it, somehow!

Congrats Seacrest!

Cosmopolitan Hotel...non-Vegas-style luxury digs! December 15 blow-out opening!

In spite of a couple of stalled Hotel projects and a glut of empty rooms on the glitzy strip, the owners of the tony Cosmopolitan - slated to throw open its doors on December 15th - remain pretty optimistic about their ability to compete.

According to the German Bankers that are funding the project - "standing out" - will be the key to their success in the high-stakes realm of Hotels & Gambling Casinos in the desert Oasis.

"Polish without pretense," is how management is describing the "Cosmopolitan" experience.

For starters, guests will be shielded from all that is usually gauche in Sin City.

In fact, at the Cosmo, the world-weary traveller won't be forced to traipse through a tunnel-full of tacky casinos in order to check into their suites at the upscale respite from it all.

Elevators are located a few feet away from the front desk - for example - ready to whisk their pampered charges to their reasonably-priced digs above.

City rooms, studios, and premiere suites - unlike most Vegas Hotels - also boast furnished balconies six-feet deep (that run the length of the space in about seventy-five percent of the rooms) so that the savvy traveller has more leg room (if you get my drift).

All accomodations are sparked up with eye-catching fixtures - a state-of-the-art flat screen TV - and a dizzying array of digital technologies sure to keep even the most active Silicon Valley dude thrilled.

The interior design by David Rockwell is liveable yet hip.

For those who are keen on being ever-mindful about the time of day - a three-tiered bar affords the opportunity to sip on an exotic cocktail - while checking out the action on the electric Vegas Strip outside.

In essence - the Casino "Cocoon"- has gone by the way of the dinosuar!

Ah - there is a breath of fresh air on the Hotel trail - in Vegas now!

The developers have also managed to offer up a dream venue inside expected to be a blast from the get-go.

For example, inside two twin towers, there are a dozen fantasy setttings to become totally immersed in by way of eight video columns which offer up a myriad of fantasy adventures throughout a 24-hour cyle!

Just pick one, dudes!

Take a rustic walk in the park on a fall day - where gold and crimson leaves flutter by at arm's reach - or saunter into a cascade of frothy bubbles for a sensual bathing of the senses!

The Hoteliers intend to lure in the music crowd , too.

At press time the Cosmopolitan staff noted that they are going to be unveiling the perfect DJ booth expected to attract big headliners in the biz.

In what is described as a restauarant neighborhood, hungry foodies with discerning tastebuds will have 8 eateries to choose from (a Manhattan-style pizzeria & a pricey Greek Restaurant, for instance).

In an adjoining neighborhood, rotating artists will be exhibiting their artistic creations, which should lend an artsy-fartsy atmosphere to the environs.

For the opening night blow out, rooms are expected to garner $300 a pop.

But, in the days that follow, a regular Hotel suite will be cost 'ya just $135.00 nightly.

Book me in, eh?

Prince Wiliam...shocking remarks of Royal Observers!

In the wake of the media frenzy over the engagement of Prince William and Kate Middleton - a handful of so-called Royal oberservers have scurried out of the woodwork and into the forefront - to toss in their two pence worth.

Shockingly, some of their comments have been insulting to a less-fortunte sector of society, to say the least.

For example, on one E-News broadcast, a coiffed Brit was quick to point out that Lady Diana made deliberate efforts to ensure that William and Harry were made aware of  life beyond the four walls of the Palace (something the Buddha had to find out for himself).

"She took them to visit the homeless and A.I.D.S. patients," the huffy blueblood noted matter-of-fact.

An okay observation, alright.

But her follow-up remarks were quite disturbing.

"She (Lady Diana) wanted to make them aware that there was a seamier side to life."

Say what?

The inference that those who are inflicted with A.I.D.S. - or that the homeless are part of a seamier side of life - jolts the sensibilities.

What an outrageous notion!

Lady Diana was bent on enlightening her two young Princes about the less-fortunate in the world.

I trust that the uppity uppercrust will take pause - and in a moment of compassion and understanding - attempt to fathom that!

Only then, will Lady Diana rest easy in her grave, for a task well done.

Brokeback Mountain...5th Anniversary Screening @ Gene Autry Center!

On Saturday, December 11th, the Autry National Center will present a special 5th Anniversary special Screening of the award-winning film Brokeback Mountain (Focus Films).

After the screening, there will be a staged reading of messages, essays, poetry, and music inspired by the film.

The ground-breaking film explored the clandestine relationship between two young cowboys - portrayed by Jake Gylenhaal and Heath Ledger - coming to grips with their homosexuality in the ruggest western terrain.

The event is part of the acclaimed program - "Out West" at the Autry - which is a series of public events focusing on lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) history and culture in the West with gallery talks, film screenings, lectures, performances and other cultural events.

"Brokeback Mountain helped to bring wide attention to important conversations about LGBT issues in modern Western communities,” noted Autry President and CEO Dan Finley.

“This powerful film resonates deeply with the Autry’s own strong connection to the history of Western films as well as our mission to share and explore the inspiring stories of all the peoples of the American West.”

Brokeback Mountain was produced and released by Focus Features in December 2005.

Directed by respected director Ang Lee who won an Oscar for his efforts.

See 'ya there!

Cher...comments about "old" fans & oxygen tanks insulting! Last gig @ Caesar's...

Rags to Rags

"I'm often mistaken for a Cher impersonator," the sexy sixties pop icon joked to Dave Letterman this week after plunking herself down on the coach on the set of the late night talk fest.

But, it was the asssessment of her audience, that may have offended a few of her die-hard fans, though.

"They're old," she seemed to shudder at the thought!

The fact that these golden-oldies showed up with their oxygen tanks in tow (her words, not mine) caused her to opine that the upcoming gig @ Caesars Palace (Las Vegas) may be her last.

On that note, the Bob Mackie (middle-aged) Barbie, was inclined to protest about the price of the tickets.

"My young fans can't afford the venue," she lamented.

Well, about a free concert or two in park, Cher?

Apparently the award-winning chanteuse is a bit miffed about becoming a joke in the macho set.

After all, folks have reported back that they've heard unkind remarks about her, when it comes to a trek to the glitzy Hotel in the desert oasis.

"I'm going to take 'ya to see that old lady at Caesars while I go off and gamble," two-fisted beer-drinkers have been known to chortle.

OMG!

Has the sultry siren lost her sex appeal?

Meanwhile, Dave was surprisingly keen on tackling all fronts, as he held her captive on live TV.

"Was you son "Chaz" a lesbian before he got the sex change," he probed, as a hush fell over the room.

Cher nodded in the affirmative.

During the course of the conversation the aging cougar admitted that it was a difficult situation from the get-go.

"If I was in a man's body, I'd be so unhappy," she added, without blinking-an-eye.

So, she summarizly gave Chastity the nod.

No word on the scuttlebutt.

Did Momma pay for the expensive transformation?

I laughed when toothy Letterman zeroed in on Cher's love life.

"You dated Warren Beatty," he started off slowly.

"Yes."

"And, Tom Cruise?"

"Yes."

Although there was a perfect opportunity for Dave to quiz her about the allegations that Cruise is "gay", he gave a wide berth, and avoided that potential controversy.

Gosh, he didn't even bring up the subject of Scientology.

By the end of this titillating segment, Dave was posing a mighty personal question.

"Have you slept with 100 men, then?"

The audience roared.

"Well, everyone was promiscuous in those days," Cher offered up in her defense.

When the touchy issue of the Rock 'n Rock Hall of Fame Award reared its ugly head, she remained pretty low-key.

Just maybe, Cher realizes now that her whining in Vanity Fair didn't do much to bolster her image.

Cry baby!

But, the Pop Icon managed to slide in a slight, before she signed off.

"It's all about coolness," she teased.

Say what?

It's not about the music?

News at 11 as protests from rock 'n rollers stream in to the Tattler and elsewhere around the Nation!
