Royal Wedding...bridal gown on display! Prince William & Kate seek suitable digs!

For weeks before the Royal Wedding -  the media pulled out all-the-stops - in a bold-faced effort to scoop up all the delicious details surrounding the scuttlebutt on Kate Middleton's Wedding Gown!

Unfortunately, wild horses couldn't drag the top-secret details out of Royal insiders, so the curious were forced to speculate right up until the 11th hour!

Now, word out of Queen Elizabeth's camp is that the Royal Wedding frock will be on display in full public view at Buckingham Palace, July 23rd to October 3rd (2011).

For a hefty fee, no doubt!

Meanwhile - for some inexplicable reason - the Royal Couple have yet to relax into a suitable love nest in Jolly Old England across the pond.

The Queen's handlers have confirmed that Prince William & his lovely bride Kate will take up temporary residence in a modest apartment at Kensington Palace until suitable digs are given the nod of approval.

Kensington - was not only Prince William's former childhood stomping ground - but also the tony Estate where his much-admired mother -Lady Diana - remained in residence until she passed to spirit in 1997.

Meanwhile, the young Royals remain ever-popular.

A jaunt to the horses races the other day triggered a blitz of photo ops for the paparazzi which caught the frenzied focus of major news outlets around the globe.

The fairy tale romance continues to captivate!

Royal Wedding..Fuss over Kate's Gown! Oldfield design? Not! Prince William ready to trot!

Prince William to sport Military Uniform featuring red tunic!
(though formal morning coat suits future King)

Though the frenzied press is still knocking on doors - in a sly bold-faced effort to get the "goods" on the future Princess's much-ballyhooed wedding frock under lock-and-key out-of-sight from the world-at-large - one thing is certain.

Mike Oldfield did not whip up Kate's coming-out designer gown for the Wedding of the century!

The pressure was so great that the celebrated designer was forced to tip his hand at the 11th hour.

No chic spendiferous gown was crafted out of his studio to boast about!

In spite of the fact, Oldfield was the bookies' favorite (with odds of 1-3) to edge out the leading designers elbowing for the prestigious assignment.

Meanwhile, a curious world gazes on bemused by it all, as the final hours tick away before the big day in Jolly Old England across the pond!

Of course, it you can't land the headliner - just maybe - it's time to settle for second best.

Uh-huh!

Now, the frenzied media has focused its searing lens on the wedding party, young-and-old alike.

Kate's reluctance to spill the beans, has been a blessing in disguise for the Royal couple's minions in tow, after all.

Ladies-in-waiting, the Maids-of-honor - you name it - are stepping forward into the spotlight to model their stylish threads before the Royal heads roll at the crack-of-dawn tomorrow.

The tony elite worming their way out of the expensive woodwork are turning heads - and in the process - rustling up a lot of scuttlebutt about this 'n that.

For instance, Chelsy Davy - a high-profile South African heiress - will dazzle the lookie-loos in the packed streets outside Westminster Abbey with one of two spiffy outfits whipped up for the Royal occasion.

Although there has been quite a bit of chat about the Italian designer Albert Ferretti - who fashioned the exquisite creations - the juicy gossip around town is that Chelsy may very well end up between-the-sheets with Prince Harry (a casual boy-toy boyfriend) on his brother's night of wedded bliss.

Oh, would I like to be a fly on Harry's bedroom wall tomorrow night.

As to the outfits, well, it is rumored that the socialite will don an aqua blue green bias reverse satin short dress with a faille silk jacket of the same color in the shoulder and back.

The jet -set Diva will change into a midnight blue crepe satin gown off one shoulder with cutout detail on the back for a party in the early eve.

Word out of the Palace today is that  Camilla - step-mom to the Princes - will strut stylishly in an Anna Valentine gown; after all, Valentine designed the frock that Bowles wore to her own wedding to Prince Charles a few scant years ago.

With just a day to go, the world still knows next-to-nothing about what Prince William’s bride will wear, to mark her transition from commoner to princess.

There is a distinctive buzz in the air, though.

Some are whispering that Kate fiddled with a few fabrics at home one night - and essentially - designed the gown she is about to ceremoniously unveil to an adoring world!

It is hinted that the gown will have a Renaissance design featuring satin and lace and sure to “include" fashion flourishes and style influences indicative of the unique Emanuel wedding dress donned by Prince William’s mother Princess Diana.

“They’ve done an amazing job at keeping it secret,” gushed Darcy Miller, editorial director at Martha Stewart Weddings.

“The secrecy of the designer is making it more of an obsession” for brides and millions of royal fans everywhere," she added excitedly.

Insiders speculate that the gown will be - first and foremost - a notch above modest.

The future Princess is expected to walk the aisle in a gown that lends a graceful air to her presence - which means - the bride-to-be will avoid making too big of a splash.

Kate will not be donning anything strapless, nor will there be a titillating display of flesh, or eye-popping cleavage to provoke controversy (or scorn) on her special day.

True to tradition, she'll wear something borrowed and something blue, though.

Just wait and see!

The strongest contenders for the wedding-gown commission were Sarah Burton (creative director at the fashion house of  Alexander McQueen) and - surprise - Sophie Cranston (who worked with McQueen’s studio and Temperley) before setting up her small label "Libelula".

The wedding gown may feature pearl buttons and showcase a 10-foot sprawling train.

In a recent poll, Brits voted their thoughts on what color the gown will be, too.

A clear majority (57% ) gave the nod to ivory, while 20%  were of the mindset that Kate will jump-for-joy in white.

Peach, I wonder!

Without doubt, there will be an exquisite hat atop her pretty head, for sure!

What do 'ya think?

By the way, Kate Middleton will have five in her wedding party which shall be comprised of sister Pippa, Lady Louise Windsor, the Hon. Margarita Armstrong-Jones,and three-year-olds Grace van Cutsem and Eliza Lopes.

At press time, details surrounding their wedding threads, were being slowly released.

Jay Leno...puts damper on Royal Wedding plans! You go, girl! Leslie Mann's perky appeal!

Leslie Mann - high on her recent acting stint (a voice-over gig) on the just-released comedy flick - RIO - trotted out from behind the curtain at NBC last night and plunked herself down in the comfy armchair next to talk-show host Jay Leno.

But, a short way into the effervescent interview, Leno put an obvious damper on Ms. Mann's upcoming plans to jet across the big pond to jolly old England to celebrate the Royal Wedding.

"You're invited to the wedding," Leno quizzed the perky beauty, with a touch of envy in his voice.

At this point, Mann's face clouded over a tad - as she hesitated a sec - and stumbled for the words to respond.

"No," she finally fessed up.

At this point, Leno probed a little further in a sly effort to to rustle up the specifics.

Apparently, Mann is heading off to London with the kids and mother in tow, to take up a humble perch in the bustling city streets where the motorcade was expected to purr by.

Jay shook his head in disbelief.

In so many words, he appeared to be saying, that's no good!

Now, the poor little bodacious babe is in a quandary about what to do, given the fact Leno has apparently pooh-poohed the notion.

Frankly, I was surprised about the talk-show host's ignorance, with regard to such matters.

When I was a kid, I distinctly recall my mother dragging me off to catch a glimpse of Queen Elizabeth II, when she cruised by in her stately Rolls Royce along a carefully laid out route in the downtown streets of Toronto.

In fact, thousands of Brits - tourists and lookie loo's too - are expected to do the same when the handsome Royal couple drive by all kissey-face after tying-the knot at Westminster Abbey!

Gosh, I'd follow suit - and wear my Sunday-best even - if I could afford the air-fare and cost of a hotel suite.

Maybe there's a news agency out there willing to spring for my trip - in exchange for some lively reporting on the spot - in the midst of the adoring teaming masses expected to turn-out at the Royal event of the century on April 29th?

Leslie, you go girl!

Prince William...stag party a military operation! Shy Royal sips tea from souvenir mug!

The normally press-shy Prince William sat casually with a reporter this morning and fielded questions on a myriad of topics much to the surprise of Royal-watchers far-and-wide.

Perhaps - it was the well-received highly-publicized interview featuring a down-to-earth Prince Harry on Network television in recent days - that inspired "Wills" to let down his guard and open up to the insatiable prying press at-long-last.

Who knows?

If anything, the Prince turned out to be quite "common", in some respects.

I mean that in a flattering way, of course.

For the most part, the future King was pretty forthcoming with his carefully-uttered responses, for example.

In fact, in one curious instance, Prince William confirmed that there was a sort-of "cat & mouse" aspect to his relationship with the tabloid gossip rags (although he may not have realized at the time that such a revelation was being offered up in a round-about way).

Indeed!

The Prince admitted that a stag party was not only orchestrated by bro Prince Harry - but was actually tossed this past weekend at a friend's Estate in the country - without anyone being the wiser.

"Yeah, we outfoxed the press," Wills jubilantly informed the interviewer.

And, he proceeded to describe the clandestine event this way.

"It was kind-of-like a military operation," he joked.

The Prince sat casually in uniform with a ubiquitous helicopter framing his solid masculine frame in the background.
Even so, he downplayed his ability to maneuvere the craft, and shrugged off the suggestion that he was a skilled pilot, too.

Modest dude, eh?

If you're not up on the scuttlebutt, you may be surprised to hear that Kate & William reside on an Estate close to the remote base, which suits the couple fine.

Today - Prince Willliam was expecting his grandmother (Queen E 2) to trot by - and take a tour of her son's "workplace".

It's doubtful there will be any bottles of champagne ceremoniously christening any of the fleet's ships, though.

Uh-huh.

Prince William views his position as a soldier as - "just a job" - as does his younger brother Harry.

Kate's fiancee displayed quite a keen sense of humor, too, when unfielded questions came his way.

For example, he sheepishly admitted that fellow soldiers coughed up the funds to purchase a souvenir mug - which is etched with his and Kate's images on its face - which he cheekily sips tea out of daily.

Why?

Because he's a good sport, after all.

A hand-made pillow was also crafted for his princely head.

So, in this instant case, William may not have to worry about an old familiar phrase that has haunted Monarchs for centuries.

"Uneasy lies the head that wears the Crown!"

Prince William doesn't plan to wear a wedding ring, by the way.

Apparently, the simple band is usually crafted from Welsh gold, which is scarce these days.

He was quick to note that Kate may sport one on her dainty finger, however.

Perhaps he might consider stringing a wedding band through a chain on his neck alongside his dog tags?

Prince William...Royal Wedding, Harry's stag & Kate's weight loss rustle up media frenzy!

Mike Oldfield designer of the hour?

As "Royal Watchers" titter about Kate's sudden weight loss - and blame chic black fashion ensembles (in part) for slender impressions that hint on the suggestion that she is too thin - rambunctious social climbers fathom ways to crash a wild stag party that Prince Harry is expected to toss for his older brother Wills and a posse of their uppercrust pals.

No question about it!

There will be a barrel or two of potent grog on tap to get well-wishers in the mood to par-tay when the bachelor boy takes the final leap into manhood!

For sure - the festivities wll be held in either Scotland or Wales - some wager!

Others, suggest that a one of the exclusive watering holes in London, will offer up their snobby environs for the wild occasion!

For starters, Queen Elizabeth is expected to be most assuredly out-of-harm's-way when the Prince and his closest buddies tip their elbows into the wee hours of dawn.

In fact, I expect that Q E 2 (Queen Lizzie) will be busy dusting off a fairy-tale glass coach or two - down at the Palace garage - in anticipation of the delightful Royal Ceremony.

Meanwhile tongues are wagging about the latest scoops off the wire.

Fergie - once considered a black sheep of the family, for instance - somehow managed to wangle an invite to the Wedding Chapel.

Apparently, Prince William's childhood memories pulled at his heart strings a tad - enough so - that the Duchess of York may find herself trotting up to the Church on time to attend the blessed Royal event.

According to the scuttlebutt, though, the scorned woman (accused of influence peddling of late) won't be tripping-the-light-fantastic with true blue bloods in the inner sancum (at tony receptions and elite after-parties) as the Royal Couple cruise off into the sunset (happily-ever-after?)

And, what details - pray tell - are still under wraps?

The prying eyes of the fashion press have been kept in the dark about -"the dress" - for starters.

Insiders speculate that Mike Oldfield wlll do the honors, but the Royals are keeping "mum", nonetheless.

Kate observers are predicting that the frock will be understated but elegant, and spun from the romantic yarn of an upcoming fashion star on the horizon, across the great pond.

Expect dozens of knock-off versions to hit fashion houses once the designs have been ceremoniously unveiled (no pun intended).

"No one is tying to fill my Mother's shoes at the Palace," Prince William was inclined to hastily note for the record.

But, the pressure will be on, for sure.

My crystal ball reveals a designer frock with simple lines and exquisite romantic flourishes.

And, once the Royal Couple has kissy-faced on their honeymoon, a moving van may pull up in front of one of William's fond digs of yesteryear.

"I was raised at Kensington Palace. And, I had so many pleasant childhood memories there," the Prince beamed to media snoops in recent days, as he hinted in so many words that the two lovebirds may set up their love nest there.

No doubt, Lady Diana's loving spirit will be hovering overhead, with an approving eye.

Prince William...to wed in June! Royals to splurge!

The Royal Lovebirds!

The inside scoop is that Prince William will trot down the aisle next June to wed main squeeze Catherine Elizabeth Middleton.

Around the Palace, though, she's just plain old "Kate".

The Royals have basically kept the well-kept secret under wraps for a couple of good reasons.

A tough economy forced the Queen to cut-back on expenses earlier this year to avoid the harsh barbs of her staunchest critics, for starters.

News of Royal Wedding wouldn't sit too well just now.

Therefore, because Prince Charles is determined that his son will have a lavish wedding ceremony befitting a future King, the Royals have held back on revealing their plans with the hope that come next spring a stronger economy will bod well for the nupitals to go forward with no expense spared.

Queen Elizabeth and her advisors also take the position that a June wedding will "romance" the world and end up boosting the tourist industry - and sales of souvenirs - as effervescent crowds of well-wishers pour into London for the once-in-a-lifetime fairy-tale wedding.

Pssst!

Better book now, or there won't be any affordable rooms in the Inn, come the 1st of June!

Chelsea Clinton...ties knot in chi-chi enclave amidst celebrity guests! July 31st!

Chelsea to don designer gown fashioned in snow white!
(though not a Virgin)

Quaint Rhineback
(New York)

To the locals, it is being hailed as the wedding of the century.

Nothing but the best for Daddy's little girl!

Though a fresh-faced beauty now, Americans may recall those awkward days in the glare of the spotlight at the White House, when it wasn't always so for the once-gangly young teen who blossommed into womanhood a pretty young woman nonetheless.

Did a surgeon's hand play any part in it?

Of course, I am referring to Chelsa Clinton, the daughter of a former U.S. President.

After a long sensible courtship, Chelsea and her reliable beau - Marc Mezvinsky - are finally headed for wedded bliss on July 31st.

In many respects, the much-anticipated union, is nothing short of a fairy tale in the making.

The handscome couple have chosen to tie-the-knot amdist the luxurious trappings of an exquisite turn-of-the-century estate designed to resemble the Grand Trianon at Versailles.

The Beaux Arts mansion, set atop a high bluff, was built by legendary tycoon John Jacob Astor IV.

In spite of the fact there has been a bold-faced attempt to shroud the high-profile union of the two celebrated families in secrecy, as usual, insiders "in-the-know" have managed to feret out enough details to satiate the hunger of the locals and media hounds craving juicy gossip about all the delicious goings-on in their midst.

Terrapin Restaurant, a popular watering hole in the heart of town, will cater the rehearsal dinner.

There are sure to be ample generous servings of the prime dish (horseradish-encrusted Ahi tuna with miso aioli) to feed the inner circle (a picky lot, by the way) according to sources.

Although the guest list is top secret, it is rumored that President Obama and 1st Lady Michelle have been offered the opportunity to breeeze into town to catch the nupitals under the close scrutiny and watchful eyes of a top-notch detail of seasoned FBI security personnel.

White House staff swear up-and-down that the President will not attend, though.

Ted Turner, feisty talk-show host Oprah Winfrey, and politico Barbra Streisand - are allegedly on the guest list - alongside respected film director Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw.

I guess my invitation must have been waylaid by gremlins at the U.S. Post Office.

Rhinebeck has been dubbed “the Hamptons of the North."

And, is a paparazzi heaven.

Over the years, locals (approximately nine-thousand residents swell the ranks in the quaint Gatsby-style enclave) have managed to quietly mingle with the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Uma Thurman (Kill Bill), and Drew Barrymore (without much fuss).

On the heels of titillating leaks, enterprising gossip hounds have managed to fan the media frenzy, that do the professional proud.

For example, insiders are whispering that a slew of guests will be hunkering down at the Beekman Arms (a ninety-minute drive from the town) which is a Bill & Hillary mainstay when it comes to wining and dining the celebrated elite.

Because Amtrak rattles through the Hudson River side of Astor Courts, a neighbor has speculated, that the wedding party may snap up all available lounge cars to comfortably ferry guests to and from their tony Manhattan digs just two hours south.

Or, was that just a red herring tossed out, to throw snoops off the track?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Chelsea wisely stayed out of dirty politics!

Sandra Bullock...divorce finalized with outlaw Jesse James!

Does Sandra have a dark side?

I guess all the t's were crossed and all the i's were dotted, because - according to the court clerk in Austin (Texas) - perky actress Sandra Bullock and outlaw Jesse James are now legally divorced.

No hitches!

Ms. Bullock will return to smart choices in movie projects, and James - aka celebrity biker - will roar off into the sunset with god knows "what" hugging his tattooed hulk from behind!

I say, good riddance to white-trailer trash, Ms. Bullock.

Stockholm Royal Wedding...Crown Princess Victoria takes vows amidst controversy!

Royalty and dignitaries from around the world basked in the reflected glow of one of Sweden's biggest Royal parties  held in decades.

Although the lavish wedding of Crown Princess Victoria (held this morning) prompted arrivals as early as last Thursday - there was one contingent - noticeably not present.

When a brouhaha erupted with the media over "images" and the rights to broadcast around the globe, three of the major news organizations bowed out.

No matter.

The Royal Court was quick to note that more than 950 guests would watch the couple tie the knot in the exquisitely refurbished Stockholm Cathedral (Japanese Crown Prince Naruhito, Jordan's King Abdullah and Queen Sofia of Spain, were in attendance, for instance).

The wedding came with a hefty price tag of 20 million kronor ($2.6 million).

But, to some, it was worth the investment in Sweden's "image" and subsequent future .

Royalists hope it will boost the waning popularity of the Swedish monarchy that dates back at least 1,000 years.

Victoria, 32, is the oldest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia - and thus - first in line to the throne.

The strong-willed Royal has two siblings (Prince Carl Philip and Princess Madeleine).

She met her new husband  - Daniel Westling - at a local gym in Stockholm eight years ago.

Mr. Westling will henceforth be known as "Prince Daniel", Duke of Vaestergoetland, the palace announced.

It is an honor not bestowed on a commoner since the medieval age.

"This is the biggest wedding in Europe for a long time," Royalty expert Roger Lundgren told a reporter at The Associated Press before the nupitals took place this morning.
The guest list included all the European Royal houses including Belgium's King Albert II, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, Prince Albert II of Monaco and the former Greek monarch, King Constantine.

Prince Edward and Sophie were also on the list, but Prince Charles wasn't, for some inexplcable reason.

Insiders have tittered that Edward and Sopie were invited because they are two British Royals that the future Queen Victoria socializes with.

A posse of high-profile jet-set guests from the Social elite also mingled with the celebrated guests - and included - Per Gessle from 1980s rock group Roxette and golfer Tiger Woods' mother-in-law - Barbro Holmberg.

The dazzling ceremony began at 3:30 p.m. (9:30 a.m. ET) at the Stockholm Cathedral.
Although the vows took about an hour, the fanfare in the aftermath, was quiet spectacular.

The couple emerged from Stockholm Cathedral to a gantlet of crossed swords, gingerly stepped into a beautifully-crafted antique horse-drawn carriage, then proceeded to ride through the town to the cheers of thousands of people lining the streets.

The fairy-tale procession took the handsome couple to Stockholm's harbor, where they boarded a gilt longboat driven by 18 naval oarsmen, which took them across the harbour.

A formation of 16 fighter jets performed a flyby as the Royal Boat approached the Palace landing which was packed with sailors, cheering civilians, curiosity-seekers, and ecstatic well-wishers.

This evening, a wedding banquet crowns the glorious day, naturally!

Congrats!

Ellen DeGeneres to marry...Portia de Rossi. Details, please!

So, the big scoop this week - actually the announcement was broadcast over the boob-tube during a taping of the Ellen show on Thursday - was that Ellen plans to wed her longtime squeeze - Portia de Rossi.

Congratulations!

Details please!

Who will be taking on the traditional role of Bride?

Groom?

Once that tell-tale decision is made, enquiring minds want to know - will there be a flashy diamond ring and an elegant frilly wedding frock for the missus (white, of course!) and a formal black tuxedo for the "other half" assuming the male role?

Two pretty female dolls will grace the high tier of the cake, no doubt.

But, are you leaning towards a best man, or a best woman?

Who will toss the bouquet, I wonder.

Ellen, will you sweep Portia over the threshold in your arms?

And, do you expect to honeymoon in Niagara Falls?

Pssst!

Ellen - the Canuck side is much prettier - more romantic than shufflin' off to Buffalo, fer sure!

By the way, don't forget the pre-nup, eh?
