Gay Marriage...legal in New York! Lady Gaga wept! No more living in sin!

On the heels of a broadcast of a searing documentary on the "Stonewall" riots (which focused on the bloody fight for gay rights in the East Village a couple of decades ago) it is only fitting that the Governor of New York State - Andrew Cuomo - signed a controversial bill into law which grants homosexuals (gays) the right to wed with the blessing of the State.

The measure was approved 33 to 29.

Cuomo affixed his "John Henry" to the historical document just minutes before the clock struck midnight at the witching hour over the weekend.

The law becomes effective in thirty days, at which point, same-sex couples are entitled to trot up the aisle, profess their love, and promise to obey!

Unless, they're related to Kate Middleton, of course!

Needless to say, there was a lot of revelry in the streets of the "Big Apple" last night once the exciting news spread to the four corners of one of the most cultured cities in the United States.

I guess all those decorators and fashion designers have something to do with that, eh?

A few celebrities, who toiled to make the cause a reality, responded accordingly.

Lady Gaga wept!

Ricky Martin enthused that it was time to "celebrate".

And, ever-emotional Rosie O'Donnell cried out ecstatically:

"Happy Days are here again!"

Judging by the polls, the tide has turned in respect to attitudes in the mainstream about same-sex marriages.

Just recently, 53% of U.S. residents voted in favor of the unions.

But, a scant few years ago, only 42% were willing to give a nod to the anxious couples.

"What the state did today brings marriage equality to a new plane. We reached a new level of social justice," Cuomo summarized to rapt reporters on outside of the Senate building yesterday evening.

Silly me!

Gosh.

I thought the good thing about being "gay" was that you didn't have to get hitched!

Barack Obama...gays born that way! Homo 101 seeks Campus votes!

And Jerry Brown thought Meg Whitman was a whore!

Yesterday, on the campaign trail, Barrack Obama uttered up a few startling comments on the subject of homosexuality, that left a few of his critics wondering what he was up to.

For example, he noted matter-of-fact to a posse of students on campus, that the gay lifestyle was not a "choice" by any stretch of the imagination.

"They (members of the LGBT community) were born that way," he asserted, without any apparent qualms about making such a sweeping controversial statement.

"We're all God's children," he solemnly preached, to all within earshot.

And, on that premise, the President took a leap of faith when he concluded - if you read between the lines - that the Lord intended it that way.

The Almighty doesn't make mistakes, after all.

I expect that when the word gets out today - to religious fundamentalists around the country - that there will be he** to pay for his stance on the subject.

Since Barack is an intelligent gent - keenly aware of the potential repercussions of his actions (especially mind-boggling ones that fly in the face of reason) - it begs the question.

Why the crash course on Homo 101?

For starters, I expect it was a bid for the youth vote, once again.

This time around, though, he is not the Saviour heralding change.

He already blew that one, in the eyes of the innocents, after all.

Just maybe, the gut-wrenching widespread reaction to the tragedy of a teen suicide in recent days, convinced  Obama there was a voting block all-primed and at-the-ready to snatch up from the jaws of hysteria?

News at 11!

One for gays & their supporters on campus!

Proposition 8...court flip-flops! 9th Circuit to hear appeal on gay marriage ban!

"Stays" and being misunderstood at the altar!

There they go again!

In response to a petition to "stay" gay marriages (in California) pending a review by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals - Justices in the higher court with appropriate jurisdiction have put an indefinite "hold" on the ruling of Judge Vaughn Walker who "lifted the ban" last week.

Confused yet?

In a nutshell, no gay man or woman will be able to trot down the aisle with City Hall's blessing, until all the appeals have been exhausted, or one of the parties has tossed the towel into the ring disgusted.

The decision - issued by a three-judge panel at the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals (on occasion nine- member panels may be petitioned to preside over appellate court proceedings) - effectively sets aside Walker's prior ruling which would have allowed same-sex marriages to continue at the stroke of midnight on August 18th (2010).

In a  precise two-page order granting the stay, the Justices noted their intention to expedite the proceedings, which will focus on Proposition 8 and Judge Walker's findings.

In what amounts to a break in normal scheduling, the Justices have announced through a court-house spokesperson, that the controversial case will be heard the week of Dec. 6th (2010).

To avoid any possible hint of impropriety - or scandal - a second panel (consisting of three Justices) will be installed to preside over the legal proceedings.

"We are very gratified that the 9th Circuit has recognized the importance and the pressing nature of this case by issuing this extremely expedited briefing schedule," beamed Ted Boutrous, who is a member of the plaintiffs' legal team.

To catch up on all the proceedings to date, follow the links below.

Proposition 8...U.S. Judge "stays" ban on Gay Marriage 'til August 18th!

The ruling by a Federal Judge to overturn a ban on same-sex marriage appears to be flip-flopping a tad since the controversial ruling was handed down last week in the picturesque City by the Bay.

Although, U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker effectively overturned the Prop 8 ballot initiaive - in his opinion on the complex Constitutional issues - his Honor stopped short of leaving the supporterss of the ban on gay marriages in a legal lurch.

In what appears to be a fair approach to oproblems that have surfaced in respect to appeals - in the aftermath of his controversial findings - Judge Walker has "stayed" (put on hold) his standing order until the 18th of August.

No new gay marriages may be granted by City Hall (18,000 California residents are currently legally married in the Golden State) until that date.

The intriguing "stay" arose when it was determined that sponsors of Prop 8 (who lost their bid to have the initiative upheld) do not have legal standing to lodge an appeal with the 9th Circuist Court of Appeals (based in San Francisco).

Walker conjectured that the sponsors may be barred from appealing the order because they were not directly affected by its findings.

Walker said there was no evidence that the sponsors of Prop. 8 "face the kind of injury" required to have standing to file an appeal.

"As it appears at least doubtful that proponents will be able to proceed with their appeal without a state defendant, it remains unclear whether the Court of Appeals will be able to reach the merits of proponents' appeal," Walker wrote.

With that argument in mind, the Judge issued a "stay" until nex week, with a court directive that proponents attempt to convince either the Governor or the Attorney General to file an appeal to ensure jurisdiction.

Howevr, that may be a difficult task to undertake, since both Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Atty. General Jerry Brown urged Walker to permit same-sex marriages to resume after noting the state was well equipped to handle to gay marriage.

Prop 8 drafters did not publicly respond to Walker's contention that they may not having standing to appeal.

In spite of the foregoing efforts of the Judge to be balanced and fair, Prop 8 supporters waved protest signs outside the U.S. Federal Court on the eve of of the trial's official end, alleging "Judicial Tyranny".

Walker based his ruling on the grounds that Proposition 8 violated Federal Constitutional guarantees of equal protection and due process.

Moral disapproval was not a good enough reason to deny gays what courts have determined is a fundamental right to marry, he noted matter-of-fact in he public record.

Portia De Rossi...changes name to DeGeneres! The female in the relationship?

Portia de Rossi allegedly applied to legally have her identity reflect that she is betrothed to a partner.

Ellen DeGeneres' mate wants to go all the way - and change her name - to reflect her same-sex marital status with the perky talk show host.

Once the paperwork has been processed, Portia de Rossi will officially become known legally as Portia Lee James DeGeneres.

De Rossi's petition was filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court last Friday, according to court sources.

In the application, the legal document notes for the record, that the "Petitioner" (De Rossi) is taking the name of her spouse.

Previously, De Rossi changed her birth name to De Rossi when she first became an actress pursuing a career in Hollwood.

Actors tend to change their name in the event a member of the Screen Actors Guild already has a similar name to avoid confusion, or because the one given at birth by parents, is cumbersome to spell or not appropriate for an actor's image on stage or in the realm of TV or film.

Archibald Leach, for example, later became Cary Grant.

The couple started dating in December 2004, and officially married at the their Beverly Hills estate on August 16 (2008), in a full-dress chi-chi ceremony which was attended by the Who's Who of the Hollywood elite.

Ellen excitedly gushed in interviews that when she and De Rossi became hitched she was elated.

"I couldn't  believe this beautiful woman was interested in me at this age," she giggled in so many words to a reporter at a night-time tabloid news show.

Since Portia is taking Ellen's surname, some wonder if this is an indication that "Ellen" is the man in the relationship.

Would that make Portia a lipstick lesbian?

Inquiring minds want to know!

Proposition 8...folks tweeted like mad 'til ruling came down! Here are a couple...

Twitter fans were tweeting so fast (so hard and so furious) just prior to the Prop 8 ruling being handed down last week - that it was difficult to copy and paste the tweets quickly enough - so they could be scooped up for posterity.

However, in the course of the frenzied excitement, I managed to snap up one or two tweets that best described the mounting tension - and captured the mood just prior to the release of the ruling on the issue of same-sex marriage (and the subsequent ban) - in San Francisco last week.

Newt Gingrich...blasts that Prop 8 Judge Walker is un-American! Kagan unlikely to vote his way!

Gingrich carries big stick!
(casts small shadow)

Newt Gingrich was on the rag today over the landmark ruling handed down yesterday by U.S. Federal District Court Judge Vaughn Walker who effectively overturned the ban on same-sex marriage in the State of California with a flourish of a pen.

In a bald-faced tirade, spewed across his infamous website of hate, Gingrich labelled the Judge's actions downright "outrageous", for starters.

Then, he proceeded to rant that the jurist presiding over the legal proceedings in San Francisco displayed a total disrespect for the U.S. Constitution and for the majority of Americans whom - he asserted - have held firm in their belief that the institution of marriage is a holy union exclusive to heterosexuals.

Newt should take a vicodin and call it a day!

After all, he needs to get his facts straight.

For example, the outspoken politician falsely alleged that in every State - from California to Maine to Georgia (where people have had a chance to vote) - Americans have affirmed that marriage is strictly a privilege afforded one man and one woman.

Newt, same-sex marriages are currently legal in Massachusetts, Iowa, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire and Washington.

A majority of folks here-and-there appear to disagree, so wake up and smell the coffee.

Of course, anyone with an ounce of intelligence is keen to the fact that Newt Gingrich doesn't have much of a clue about the pulse of the American people anyway - beyond his own polluted little pond - much less in Washington or elsewhere.

But - the notion that Congress should rush in - was a real hoot.

"Congress now has the responsibility to act immediately to reaffirm marriage as a union of one man and one woman as our National policy," he keyed into a post angrily.

On the contrary, the issues pertaining to same-sex marriage must go on through the legal process, and a determination has to be made, according to the law of the land.

Judge Walker was just interpreting applicable Statutes to the best of his ability.

What do they say?

Don't shoot me! I'm just the messenger!

Justices in the higher court(s) will - undoubtedly - endeavour to do the same (now that an appeal has been filed with the 9th Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals) until the issue sputters to a logical conclusion.

When it comes to President Obama and Congress drumming up a "National Policy"?

Don't hold your breath, Newt!

Obama and his flat-footed cronies have yet to craft a meaningful Immigration Reform Bill - in spite of a loud outcry and violent protests - that has been tearing apart the country in recent weeks.

But, Newt's misguided lunacy doesn't stop there.

In a parting shot, he piped up:

"Today’s notorious decision also underscores the importance of the Senate vote tomorrow on the nomination of Elena Kagan to the Supreme Court because judges who oppose the American people are a growing threat to our society.”

OMG!

Does't he read the newspapers?

Essentially, Kagan was being touted as a shoe-in for confirmation.

Notwithstanding, is he really that much of an a**hole that he actually believes that anyone who disagrees with his point of view (Elena Kagan & Judge Walker) must be anti-American?

The man needs therapy!

Kagan un-American?
(or just out-of-fashion)

Propositiion 8..."Protect Marriage" files appeal to 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeal!

As expected - at least one party in the tustle over Prop 8 and the gay-marriage ban in California - would end up lodging an appeal with the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals on the the heels of the ruling handed down by U.S. District Court Judge Vaughn Walker.

In view of a court's finding yesterday - in a controversial 138-page ruling that essentially found that Prop 8 was unconstitutional - supporters of the Prop 8 ballot initiative (backed by California voters) found themeselves hot-footing it down to the Federal Courthouse overnight to protect their vested interest in opposite-sex marriage and family values.

Background

http://ijulian.blogspot.com/2010/08/proposition-8judge-overurns-ban-on-gay.html

In a nutshell, opponents to gay-marriage must now convince a higher court that District Court Judge Vaughn Walker erred as a matter of law when he  ruled that Proposition 8 violated Federal Equal Protection and Due Process Laws.

In spite of the fact the 9th Circuit court has no specified deadlines to be mindful of in respect to a review of the issues ripe for appeal, the supporters of Prop 8 and oppositie-sex marriages proceeded to file their deliberate "Notice of Appeal" with the court (based in the San Francisco Bay area) post haste.

The appeal will be randomly assigned to a three-judge panel with little brouhaha.

In accordance with Appellate Court Rules of Procedure, each party in the action will be required to lodge a brief with the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals - at which point - a date will be set by the Court clerk for an oral hearing so that the issues may be clarified further to the satisfaction of the Justices presiding over the proceedings.

A disgruntled party - unhappy with the 9th Circuit Court ruling thereafter - will be entitled to launch  an appeal with the highest court in the land after that which is the  U.S. Supreme Court in Washington (D.C.).

However, the 9 sitting Justices are not required to "hear' the appeal.

A petition for a hearing on the issues may be denied by the court without explanation - at which point - the lower court ruling becomes binding (law).

The Prop 8 supporters are going to give it their best shot, though.

"This ruling, if allowed to stand, threatens not only Prop 8 in California but the laws in 45 other states that define marriage as one man and one woman," said Brian Brown, the Prresident of the National Organization for Marriage, which helped fund the 2008 campaign that led to the gay marriage ban.

Currently, same-sex couples can only legally wed in Massachusetts, Iowa, Connecticut, Vermont, New Hampshire and Washington, D.C.

The appeal to the 9th Circuit filed on the heels of Walker's landmark ruling, was lodged by Protect Marriage, which is a coalition of religious and conservative groups that sponsored Proposition 8.

California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Attorney General Jerry Brown wisely chose to watch from the sidelines and remain out of the fray.

Prop 8...U.S. District Court to rule today! Decision to be appealed...

U.S. Distrcit Chief Judge Vaughn R. Walker is expected to release his decision today on whether Proposition 8 violates the U.S. Constitution.

The Court's decision is expected to be released this afternoon between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.

Earlier this year - in January - Judge Walker heard testimony about the history of marriage, the nature of the homosexual lifestyle - and the influence of gays, lesbians and transgenders - in the political and social system in America today.

The trial lasted for approximately 3 weeks.

Either way, Walker's much-anticipated decision is expected to be appealed to the U. S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

After that, legal eagles speculate that the issues will probably go on to the U.S. Supreme Court for a final determination by Supreme Court Justices in Washington.

In May 2008, the California Supreme Court ruled 4 to 3 that gays and lesbians were entitled to marry under the State Constitution in what amounted to a landmark historic ruling.

A short while later - opponents to gay unions - drafted Proposition 8 to amend the State Constitution to ban same-sex marriage.

California voters supported Prop 8 in the ensuing election thereafter.

In Bush v. Gore, a lawsuit challenged the initiative on the grounds of Constitutionality.

Walker will decide whether California’s ban on same-sex marriage violates equal protection and due process rights guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.

Prop 8...frenzied crowds gather in anticipation of ruling! San Francisco on alert...

A frenzied throng of of Prop 8 detractors, a blitz of media hounds- and a gaggle of just plain old curious folks - have been holding their collective breath ever since a rumor began circulating around the festive City by the Bay that a ruling was about to be handed down.

But, U. S. District Court Judge - Vaughn R. Walker (who is presiding over the controversial landmark case on the issue of same-sex marriage) - has, so far, kept his hand close to this chest.

It should be noted, that the feisty bench-warmer's Chambers were closed on Thursday and Friday.

That could mean one thing.

Just maybe, the Judge finished dotting his "i's" and crossing his "t's" mid week, took two days off to sit on his ruling, and intends to return bright-and-early Monday morning to release (what is expected to be a crushing blow to at least one party involved in the explosive litigation) his well-coddled ruling.

Bets, anyone?

Elena Kagan...media frenzy over sexuality peaks! Supporters scoff "not gay"...

Shortly after President Barack Obama announced that Elena Kagan was his choice for Supreme Court nominee, the Internet was rife with speculation about the perky little politician’s sexuality.

For good reason!

The “gay-marriage” suit - slated for closing arguments in the Federal District Court in June - will probably end up in the lap of the Supreme Court Justices down the road a year or two from now.

Dave Letterman made a quip the other night, for instance, that hinted the Liberal candidate might be a butch gay woman, which caused tongues to wag at coffee coolers at the crack of dawn the following day.

Bill O’Reilly criticized one newspaper for running a photograph of Kagen at the plate on a baseball diamond which inferred that because she played softball she might be a diesel dyke.

At one juncture, O’Reilly threw his hands up in the air in dismay, and called on guest Dennis Miller to voice his opinion on the matter.

“Well, she has a good stance,” he joked straight-faced.

When CBS picked up the story, Kagan supporters sprang into action to squelch the rampant rumors running wild around the four corners of the globe.

“When we were students years ago, I recall her excitedly chatting about a couple of boys, how cute they were, that sort-of-thing,” one long time acquaintance uttered up in her defense in so many words.

I laughed out loud!

Ellen Degeneres often gushes about young studs like the Jonas Boys.

And, fans of Rosie O’Donnell show, can attest to the fact she was always ecstatically blabbing about her crush on Tom Cruise (before she officially came out publicly) .

Bottom line?

Both strong-willed Lesbos with a taste for petty pu**y.

Kagan was also coming of age in an era when homosexuality was strictly taboo in the heartland of America.

In fact, in many respects, it was still the love that dare not speak its name.

A closeted male with his sights set on an executive position at a major corporation often grappled with the dilemma.

Come out, and you might be passed over for a plum job, in a Fortune 500 company.

No wonder, many career-minded homosexuals - with a strong sense of self-survival - chose to live a double-life instead.

There are many instances, for example, where men married - and started up a family - in a deceitful effort to bolster a straight image that would be an entree into the upper echelons of polite society.

Sexual urges for male companionship were pursued in clandestine fashion on the fringes of a shadowy underground gay society behind closed doors.

A few years ago, the Los Angeles Times once reported in the morning daily - that when the police conducted a sweep in the Silverlake area in a bold-faced effort to thwart gays from  prowling for sex on the streets at the midnight hour - a large percentage of the males booked on charges of lewd conduct in a  public place were married (with wives and children at home in the suburbs).

So, the Kagan arguments are flimsy at best.

The fact that the Supreme Court nominee hasn’t stepped forward to resolve the issue publicly - establishes one thing - however.

Kagan definitely doesn’t have any ba**s.

Gay Marriage...closing arguments for Prop 8 legal challenge set! June court drama...

Judge Vaughn Walker - the U.S. District Court bench-warmer presiding over the Prop 8 legal challenge in the Federal Court arena - announced that closing arguments for the controversial landmark case are slated to be heard in June (2010).

Once the lawyers for both sides have argued the issues orally at the Federal Courthouse in San Francisco, the Judge will take the matter under submission, and thereafter render a decision according to his legal findings.

Undoubtedly, the party that does not prevail in the Federal District Court, will remain undaunted - and pursue the issues further - by way of a timely appeal in the 9th Circuit Court of Appeal.

Eventually, the fight for "gay marriage" rights may end up in the lap of the Justices in the highest Court in the land in Washington D.C.
(U.S. Supreme Court).

Stay tuned!

Ellen DeGeneres...Miley Cyrus niave! Fibber at it again...

Shortly after I published a post yesterday afternoon which focused on Miley Cyrus's growing lack of credibility (she's a teller of tall tales, after all) I found myself yelling at the old boob a few minutes later when Miley trotted out on the stage of the "Ellen Show" and proceeded to chat up a storm.

"There you go again."

In a post last week, I reported that Miley shut-down her twitter account, because she alleged threats were received from users who were angry with comments she made in support of Gay Marriage.

http://ijulian.blogspot.com/2010/03/miley-cyrustweet-or-twit-gay-marriage.html

Since that time, Miley has been reluctant to confirm those shocking events on-camera, unless cornered to do so.

For example, when Jay Leno quizzed her about the twitter incident, she tried to change her story.

"Oh, I quit because twitter-users tweet about stupid things, like going to the bathroom," she chided in so many words.

Leno appeared to be taken aback.

"I thought it had to do with the fact you supported Gay Marriage?"

Perhaps it slipped Miley's mind?

After all, the excuse about the "Gay Marriage" comment, is the one she offered up to Parade magazine a few weeks ago.

Miley got a little flustered for a sec, then fessed up that Jay's take on it was correct.

Did she wise up to the fact that - once a comment is made on the record about a particular subject - it's probably best to stick to the original story for credibilty's sake?

No!

On Ellen's show yesterday she claimed there was another reason why she quit twitter.

Arghhh!

The perky talk show host (herself gay) probed further.

"I heard it was because you supported Gay Marriage!"

Good one!

Go in for the kill, Ellen.

In the aftermath, Miley scrambled to sort-out the dilemma she found herself in.

"I was asked a question. So, I gave my opinion."

But her naivete really charged to the fore when she quipped:

"They were saying that love was wrong. How could love between two people be wrong?"

Huh?

Ms. Cyrus has obviously not mingled much with folks in the mainstream around the country - or for that matter, given the issue much thought - otherwise she wouldn't open her yap and make such a silly remark.

The argument for gay marriage does not hinge on the question of "Love" per se.

Contrary to what Ms. Cyrus thinks, the people she was complaining about, don't believe that love is ever "wrong".

Christians in the heartland, for instance, tend to take a cue from scriptures that teach that homosexuality - "a man lying down with another man" - is not only sinful but goes against the laws of nature.

There is a better argument to pursue that has a lot more bite in respect to the issue of "gay marriage".

For instance, there isn't any proof that the passages in the Bible Christians refer to in support of their position, are - in fact - the word of God!

Over the centuries the scriptures have been revised - and quite possibly rewritten - to  meet a specific agenda of the day (or the powers-that-be).

Elsewhere in the scriptures, another passage underscores that when God calls on an individual, it is not necessary for that person to change.

The Lord accepts the individual as they are.

Miley's on the right track in many respects, but needs to step out of her protected shell - get real - and spout off accordingly.

To quote myself:

"If your actions are pure of heart, there is no harm."

Amen!

Miley Cyrus...tweet or twit? Gay Marriage quip ends love affair with Twitter...

Some of my best friends are!

Miley Cyrus thought her heart was in the right place when she tweeted her sentiments on the controversial issue of Gay Marriage last year during the Proposition 8 protests.

With lightning speed, the cutesy Pop Icon was inundated with a smattering of nasty hate mail - slamming her for not only supporting "the love that dare not speak its name" (Oscar Wilde) - but for also having the audacity to spout off about Christ, too.

"Jesus loves you And your partner and wants you to know how much he cares! That's like a daddy not loving his lil boy cuz he's gay and that is Wrong and very sad! Like I said everyone deserves to be happy."

Gosh, out of the mouths of Babe, eh?

The reaction from the angry multitudes in twitter-land was swift and severe!

Within seconds, her site was flooded with acid-tongued barbs, which denounced her views.

"That's the reason I deleted my Twitter account because I said on there that I believed in gay marriage because everyone should have the right to love each other, and I got such hate mail about my being a bad person," she confessed in a high-profile interview with Parade magazine recently.

Good on you, Miley!

I whole-heartedly give a thumbs up to her concluding comments, too.

"There has been so much controversy sometimes about what I've said or done because I believe there are no mistakes because God is the only one who can judge us."

Amen!

You go, girl!

It's not easy being Orange!

Ellen DeGeneres...shhhh! Harry Connick Jr. celebrates birthday of perky talk-show host Tuesday...

love that just out-of-bed look!

Do you think that Ellen is a sexist?

I was just zipping through her press release this morning (touting this week's guest line-up) when I spied an intriguing comment our favorite lipstick lesbo quipped about Dennis Quaid after his rippley-abbed appearance on the hit talk show last week.

For the record (she noted in so many words) that Dennis was quite cooperative.

"Maybe I'll invite him home to do the vacuuming," she chirped without batting-an-eye.

Shame!

Meanwhile, the stellar line-up of high-profile guests continues this week.

And, guess what?

Surprise!

It's Ellen's birthday.

Harry Connick, Jr. - a crooner that the ditzy (but highly-intelligent) stage comic pines after, will saunter in to make "D" Day a very thrilling "B" Day.

Tune in, eh?

Should be tweet, with cake (festive icing) and par-tay hats!!!

But, first things first.

JANUARY 25TH - JANUARY 29TH

MONDAY (JANUARY 25th)

Valerie Bertinelli (the little cutie with a passion for rock 'n roll stars) will chat about her upcoming projects and life's rosy moments for a tad.

In fact, Valerie has promised to share her stay-in-shape diet & exerecise secrets.

ZACHARY LEVI will drift in at some point to tell Ellen all the about the new season for his hit TV show "Chuck".
And, with a thumbs up to Australia, hilarious Ellen will play a wild 'n crazy action-packed game of blindfolded musical chairs.

WEDNESDAY (JANUARY 26th)

Ellen invited a little-known country-music band to make their TV debut on the show a couple-of-years ago.

The band musicians in LADY ANTEBELLUM have become superstars in the interim.

As pay-back to generous DeGeneres, Lady Antebellum will get all gussied up and sashay onto the stage with a lot of thumping and cheering going down from die-hard fans (no doubt).

Ellen and her audience will be treated to an exclusive performance of their hit.

“Need You Now”

They’ll also give Ellen a big scoop - on all the insider-info - in respect to their deserving Grammy nominations (two)!

THURSDAY (JANUARY 28th)

Buffed stud - ubiquitous MARIO LOPEZ - is expected to bounce out on the stage brimming with enthusiasm about this 'n that  as the exciting fun-filled antics on Ellen top out for the week.

Just maybe, he'll share a few juicy backstage moments which may have gone down during the rehearsals for "Miss America" ( which he is hosting on Saturday night).

FRIDAY (JANUARY 29th

JOSH DUHAMEL, a former Male Model of the Year (no wonder he's so stiff), is slated to chat  up Ellen about his latest feature film “When in Rome.”

"White Collar" actor - MATTHEW BOMER - will stride out later in the show with titillating tales to tell, too;  after all, he is playing a mercurial con-man on the night-time TV circuit.

And, as they say at Warner Brothers, that's all folks!

'Til next week, anyhow.

Arnold Schwarzenegger...Quote! Does the Emperor have no Clothes?

I was channel surfing the other day when I stumbled on a VH1 special on the "worst" quotes of all time - which looked like a hoot - so I settled back for a laugh or two.

One of the silliest quotes popped out of the mouth of former U.S. Vice President Dan Quayle.

Go figure!

Nothing would surprise voters when it comes to old potato head, eh?

On a trip overseas while acting as a goodwill Ambassador, this little ditty popped out of his uneducated mouth.

"I wish I was able to speak Latin American so I could communicate better with the locals," he confessed straight from the heart.

Poor Mr. Quayle was clueless about the fact that the citizens of the Latin American country he was touring, actually speak Spanish.

Reporters jumped on that one like flies on sh**.

In Latin, it all boiled down to one little phrase, Dan.

Carpe diem!

Another zinger was attributed to the mouth of bodacious babe Paris Hilton.

When an acquaintance dashed up to inform the heiress at a premiere event that her book was No. 5 on the Wall Street Journal's top-ten list of best-sellers, she responded wide-eyed:

"What's the Wall Street Journal. Is that good?"

Ask Daddy big bucks, Paris, he'll know fer sure.

Then, there was the little gem that clued fans in on how clueless Pop Singer Britney Spears was.

"Is this chicken or Tuna," she asked her boy-toy during a pig-out binge on a reality TV show.

Duh!

But, Arnold Schwarzenegger hit the jackpot with this slip of the tongue

"Gay Marriage should be between a man and a woman."

Oh, does that mean that the "gay marriage" bill he vetoed rendered all marriages between a man and woman in California null and void?

OMG!

Inquiring minds want to know!

Ellen DeGeneres...Twitter Escape! Between tweets, perky talk-show host whipped up a fun-filled fan-packed cruise!

The morning started off quietly.

Not one peep from Ellen (DeGeneres) on the Twitter landscape.

Had she attended a screening of "Hangover", and ended up with one, or was she simply laying low before the curtain went up on her daily talk show?

Suddenly, about mid-afternoon, the perky blond with the infectious grin, breezed onto the Twitter site brimming with a handful of novel ideas for a whimsical holiday Ellen-style.

How about a cruise, she excitedly queried her fans online.

"Yes, " I quipped.

"If the buffet doesn't give us the trots and we loll about in some exotic locale," I added with glee.

On the heels of this brainstorm, Ellen tossed in another teaser.

"How about poker? Last man standing?"

I chuckled out loud.

After pointing out that I was graced with a great poker face (!) I joked that the bosses in Las Vegas also welcomed "whales" to sin city.

Imagine that, Ellen was quick on the uptake.

After conferring with her loyal assistant toiling on the sidelines off-screen, she surprised us all with her flexible no-holds-barred approach to the smorgasbord of choices before us.

"We can do both! A whaling cruise one day. A poker night the next."

The twitter site was all abuzz now.

Indeed, the walls had ears, too.

An alert from Twitter informed me that Texas Hold 'em was now following moi!

And, shortly thereafter, Poker Mom jumped on board, as well.

Meanwhile, Ellen issued a turning-point "tweet".

"We'll call it the Twitter Escape."

After that, the details just started to fall into place.

When to set sail - Ellen wondered express tweet to her fans - July or August?

While I would have liked the outing sooner, an August date was stamped on the itinerary.

After all, that calendar month gelled best with the schedules of all pining for the relaxing get-a-way with their Clown Princess, Ellen.

Fifty EllenFans was a cozy cut-off number for the cruise, all agreed.

Meanwhile, the entertaining banter continued on in an upbeat, entertaining fashion.

Gosh, I don't recall ever having so much amusing interplay with folks on twitter, since I joined a scant few moons ago.

From the get-go, it was obvious that charismatic Ellen was not only a great party-planner, but one to jump in and roll-up her sleeves to get the task done, when the occasion required it.

Around 5 pm when I was forced to log off to honor a prior social obligation, I half-expected that by the end of the business day, EllenFans would wrap for a day or so until the stardust settled a tad.

No, Sir!

When I perused my e-mail late this evening I spied a direct message from EllenFans regarding the much-anticipated outing with Ellen and her adoring flock mid-summer.

Ellen's sidekicks were busy firming up guests for the cruise, securing contact information, and moving full steam ahead.

At the Ellen Show site, fans signing up for the magical cruise that Ellen plans to officially helm, were already gushing about the Twitter Escape.

One staffer was inclined to note for the record:

"Of course there will B dancing @ The Ellen Fans Twiter Escape Aug 21 - 23rd. Someone will be crowned Dancing Queen! or King! R U That Person?"

Who, moi?

Do I look like the type?

Okay! Nuff said, Ellen.

Another excited Ellen cruiser offered up some useful info on the whaling expedition.

"This region is a feeding ground for 13 species of whales, amongst which, the blue whale, the most imposing animal on Earth."

Will there be video?

Ellen's response:

"Yes of course we will film a video of it. That's a GIVEN! :)"

Who knows, maybe there will end up being an offshoot reality TV show!

In the interim, Ellen, looking forward to meeting the Missus.

American Idol...Adam Lambert courting cute dude! Yummy, judging by the smooch...

Well, Adam turned up at a trendy watering hole this past week with a young cutie in tow.

Heh, dude, not shoddy!

The handsome young toy-boy was packed into tight designer jeans (looked kind of like the battle of the bulge to me) and sported a finely-trimmed beard that edged the stud muffin's well-sculpted chin.

Judging by the grin on the American Idol-winner's face - he's obviously getting nookie - big time!

There's a bit of wild speculation about kinky role-playing going on between-the-sheets.

As the character on "In Living Color" used to say:

"I'm not one to gossip, but - "

Los Angeles Film Festival...shamed! The Richard Raddon ghost haunts event. Should gays boycott fest?

Tattler readers may recall from a controversial post that I suffered a nasty run-in with last year with former Director of the Los Angeles Film Festival - Richard Raddon - when I approached the devout Mormon about covering the annual Westwood-based event.

In fact, I am still baffled by Raddon's bizarre conduct, to this day.

Post:
http://ijulian.blogspot.com/2008/06/los-angeles-independent-film.html

Shortly after I published the tell-all on the Internet, I spied a sudden surge on searches for Richard Raddon on google, which piqued my curiosity.

For some inexplicable reason, Raddon was suddenly a "hot potato" in the blogosphere; so, I dived in head-long and conducted my own dragnet on the high-profile film fest organizer to get to the bottom of the "dish".

Within minutes, I stumbled upon a whole heap-load of nasty sh** on the odd-ball local celebrity in the film biz.

A headlining scandal took the cake.

Allegedly, as "gays" in the Los Angeles lower mainland were engaging in a bitter fight tooth & nail over the issues pertaining to Proposition 8 (initiative to ban gay marriage in California) individuals - Raddon, for one - were stabbing 'em in the back by silently donating significant funds to support the cause.

Raddon's contribution to the witch-hunt?

A thousand bucks!

Shortly afterward, a war of words between "gay activists" and "Mormons" hit the fan, and a controversy erupted in the community that led to angry marches in the street and near riots.

Gays got organized in military-style precision!

Before you could say tit-for-tat, a boycott was launched against all businesses and individuals that contributed funds to the Prop 8 initiative, to demonstrate the clout of the pink dollar.

A trendy Mexican diner on Beverly Boulevard in West Hollywood - frequented by gays in the neighborhood for decades - was the first to feel the pinch and cave in.

The Los Angeles Film Festival was also a prime target ripe for levelling.

Unless Raddon was "let go", gays and their vocal supporters, threatened to boycott the Fest - shut-it down - if possible.

Bowing to pressure, Richard Raddon resigned, and justice appeared to rule the day.

However, the controversy was still bubbling on a back burner behind closed doors.

On the heels of the resignation, actor Don Cheadle - a member of the Festival Board - proceeded to urge Raddon not to kow-tow to the demands of the angry mob (along with a handful of other Directors at the Los Angeles Film Festival who held similar views).

This triggered a heated dialogue on various issues which was awash in the press for weeks on end.

When push came to shove, Raddon honored the resignation, and gays breathed a collective sigh of relief.

Now, as the new Festival (2009) prepares to launch in Westwood in the next ten days or so, there remains one burning question to be answered.

Since Richard Raddon supporters are still firmly ensconced at the LA Film Festival - and no doubt still hold their prior views on gays, the Mormons, the right to contribute funds to political causes (no matter how morally reprehensible), and a ban on gay marriage in California - should the gay community launch a boycott this year to ferret the rest out?

Enquiring minds want to know!

Not!
