Arnold Schwarzenegger...$65,000.00 down payment on Maid's tony digs! Skirt chaser payola!

At the crack-of-dawn this morning, news wires started reporting that Arnold Schwarzenegger made a $65,000.00 down payment on the luxury home currently inhabited by his love-child's mother known to her close friends as "Pat".

According to news reports, an initial $60,000.00 was paid upfront on the home valued at $268,000.00.

Just a few months ago, the former Governor coughed up an additional $5,000.00 towards the purchase of the four bedroom home situated in a residential enclave just outside of Los Angeles.

Curiously, one news outlet dredged up an old Television clip of the former bodybuilder, when he appeared in his prime as a contestant on The Dating Game.

One of his quips to the bachelorette has clearly come back to haunt him.

For example, at one point during the course of the show, Schwarzenegger innocently asked a contestant on the other side of the screen:

"What does this expression - Hanky-Panky - mean?"

It means that when you get caught with your dick in the wringer, 'ya pay up, Arnold!

Arnold Schwarzenegger...acting career on hold! Maria Shriver hires divorce attorney!

In the wake of the scandal which has rocked Hollywood - who knew? - Arnold Schwarzenegger has just announced through his agent that the former Governor has nixed his plans to return to movie acting to deal with some personal issues.

You don't say!

In recent days, Schwarzenegger was also excited about an animated series about to launch - known as the Governator - but inside sources have confided that those plans are on hold at the moment, too.

Meanwhile, word out of Maria Shriver's camp is that the celebrated journalist (a member of the well-known "Royal" Kennedy clan) has signed on a high-powered divorce attorney to represent her interests in what now appears to be a vigorous fight over the couple's assets.

Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned!

In addition, some State Authorities are questioning whether Schwarzenegger used State funds to pay for security details for his "extended" family, while he was Governor of California.

You know what the say.

In the past twenty-four hours the shit has really hit the fan as the dust continues to stir up on the heels of revelations about the love-child scandal now plaguing the Austrian-born actor.

Images circulating Internet in wake of scandal!

Arnold Schwarzenegger...maid's great tats titillated! Pat's entry-level position!

After the initial shock of the revelation that the former Governor fathered a child with his ex-maid at his mansion in Brentwood, the jokes started flying fast-and-furious on the late-night talk-show circuit, tabloid gossip shows like TMZ, and in the gossip rags at the check-out stand at the supermarket.

"Patty was blssed with great "tats" so Arnold must have had a lot of fun playing with those," one irreverent news outlet joked.

Allegedly, the woman in the center of the firestorm was paid $1200 a week to cook, clean, do laundry, and carry out a hand-ful of chores.

Hmmmmm!

What kind of chores?

Reports are filtering out that the woman in question  - Mildred Patricia Baena - had her sights set on the terminator who was easy prey given Schwarzenegger's weakness for women with big knockers and tight attractive asses.

And, you thought all body-builders were gay, eh?

Not!

Allegedly, the macho chauvinist did not learn that the child was his own, until he was a toddler.

After-the-fact, when the information was first revealed to a surprised Arnold, he apparently did the honorable thing and began to pay for the upkeep of the child.

And then some, apparently.

According to the latest news reports, the child's mother is living in the lap of luxury outside of Los Angeles, in an upscale home which boasts several bedrooms and a swimming pool..

One of the many perks of successfully snagging a big-name celebrity!

I guess you could say that "Pat's" job at the Brentwood home was an entry-level position.

Missionary or doggie-style?

Although photographs of the teen born out of wedlock have not been published to protect the privacy of the young man (for once the media has acted tastefully in the wake of a scandal) insiders say that the love child bears a striking resemblance to the Austrian film star.

No word on whether Arnold's out-of-wedlock son also speaks with a heavy European accent.

Now, that would have been a dead give-a-way, alright!

The home of Mildred Patricia Baena who has been named as the former housemaid and lover of Arnold Schwarzenegger. Mildred, 50, known as Patty, is said to have mothered a son by Arnie while she worked for the family. She left after working for Schwarzenegger and his estranged wife, Maria Shriver, for two decades. She received a severance payment upon leaving. According to celebrity websites Schwarzenegger did not know he was the child's father until the boy was a toddler. Baena lives in a four-bedroom home with a pool in an upscale area of Bakersfield, with the son she had with Schwarzenegger and three other children. Baena -- who is said to have been divorced since 2008 -- has continued to receive financial support from Schwarzenegger and has not been at the home since Monday.

Scandals of the Privileged Few! A novel by Julian Ayrs! Chapter 2!

According to the rumors, the owner of the grand old Victorian mansion with the intricate antique gingerbread trim, fell victim to hard times and was forced to unload the three-acre property at No. 8 Stone Canyon Trail for a song.

On the heels of the distressed sale, a posse of slow-poke contractors and well-heeled snooty decorators turned up on the secluded estate one fog-laden morning to work their magic.

The sudden flurry of activity out-of-the-blue raised an eyebrow or two when the loud dusty construction first started up - but – it wasn’t until a squat Mexican gardener puttering around in the garden revealed the extent and nature of the renovations underway that the shit really hit the fan.

Blueprints – lifted by a neighbor with connections at City Hall – revealed that the historical landmark was rezoned to make way for rental units on the site.

The mere thought of an apartment complex standing ramrod straight in their midst, was enough to trigger a knee-jerk reaction among the staid old guard, who sprang into the fray bent on halting the intrusion on Cypress Ridge about to transform the terrain before their very eyes.

“There goes the neighborhood,” one disgruntled resident muttered under his breath, one fine day when he was out walking the dog.

When the word leaked out that the lone buyer was a reclusive European Countess, the rumor-mill shifted into high gear, and the tongues began to wag.

The scuttlebutt ran the gamut.

"The mysterious dragon-lady is sole heir to a fabulous fortune," one gushed.

“Old money,” another asserted in a hushed reverential tone of voice.

"Money doesn't talk, it screams," another lamented.

"Obviously, the bitch is highly connected", one angry long-time resident sneered, when a petition to halt the project was mysteriously stalled in its tracks.

Speculation about the Countess's personal affairs behind closed doors reached a fever pitch.

Without an ounce of proof one scurrilous character took it upon himself to spread a nasty rumor.

The chi chi Countess was allegedly a lipstick lesbian who once-shared her exquisite four-poster bed - replete with hand-crafted Queen-size pillows and pricey designer sheets - with legendary screen Goddess Greta Garbo.

That juicy bit of gossip stuck - go figure - shortly after a lawyer representing the interests of the aggrieved parties confided to a couple of his partners that a stern letter to the Countess failed to engender any meaningful settlement talks.

“I want to be left alone. That was her one-line response,” he hissed to all within earshot, as he threw up his hands in the air in disgust.

A scant few months later three qualifying tenants settled into their tony suites, as a handful of disgruntled neighbors gazed on with their noses totally out-of-whack.

Reginald Bartholomew scrutinized the documents once again carefully.

Sure that he crossed his “t’s” and dotted his “i’s” - he was inclined to flip off the gold cap on his elegant fountain pen - and affix his John Henry to the historical document he was about to sign into law with a flourish.

It was a remarkable accomplishment for preservationists.

Henceforth, influential developers intent on tearing down Historical landmarks within San Francisco proper, would find it virtually impossible to achieve their self-serving greedy ends in the future at the expense of the will of the people, the community-at-large, and the environment most of all.

“A toast is in order,” Bartholomew chuckled to himself, as he strode out the door to celebrate with his partners, who were grinning from ear-to-ear at the prestigious Royal Oak Club on Nob Hill.

Union Square was teaming with excited tourists as Brad strode across the plaza in the direction of the exotic archway splashed in red and gold that marked the entrance to festive Chinatown on Grant Street a-hop-and-a-skip-away.

First up?

A stop into a quaint little shop to pluck up a package of incense, an ornately-decorated box of loose Jasmine tea, and a chocolate-covered fortune cookie at the local bakery.

On the way out the door, he gave a nod to a photo of former President Bill Clinton, which graced the wall over a counter stocked with a dozen-or-so delicious bakerd treats.

A few strains of the old rock 'n roll hit - "I Ain't Superstitious" - rumbled around inside his head for a second or two as he proceeded to crack open the cookie.

Uh-huh!

Like it or not, no matter what the message surreptitiously tucked inside said, he'd take it to heart.

Therefore, here were rules to follow, for good reason.

For example, if he rustled up an upbeat message, Brad would carefully fold up the forecast and insert it neatly into his wallet next to his billfold for good luck.

In contrast, an ominous warning - hinting that he may encounter "interesting times ahead" - was summarily tossed into the trash.

In the latter case, the appropriate ritual ensured that any negative influences predicted, were sure to fizzle out.

Silly?

Uh-huh!

But, nonetheless, he never tempted fate.

"Step on the crack! Break your mother's back!"

He laughed to himself.

Thank Buddha for the healing power of meditation!

Admittedly, it was tough spiritual assignment, alright.

Being "empty" and existing in the "now" - free of the tendency to grapple with surreal notions about reality and illusion - was a tough row to hoe.

An old Chinese proverb sprang into mind!

Before enlightenment
Chopping Wood and Drawing Water
After enlightenment
Chopping Wood and Drawing Water

The incense, on the other hand, helped set the mood.

But, more importantly, the sweet-smelling stuff hid the pungent tell-tale aroma of marijuana from his landlord's super-sensitive snoz!

A big fat doobie relaxed him.

Nope, Brad wasn't hooked on the high, in spite of constant teasing from his buddies that (on the contrary) he was pot-head all the way.

The attitudes of society had changed considerably over the years, anyway!

In the 60's, a dude was liable to be sentenced to seven years behind bars for mere possession in Canada, for instance.

Today, cops strode by tourists toking up at trendy sidewalk cafes, and snickered at each other knowingly as they looked the other way amused.
An overzealous pig might write 'ya up a ticket, on the other hand, when least anticipated.

Heck, last night Craig Ferguson teased one of his guests about the pleasures (and merits) of dropping acid and munching on magic mushrooms!

"What kind of high do you experience," he quizzed the surprised actress, who played along nonetheless.

Surely, he was pulling her pretty leg?

Brad just might pay his doctor a little moolah under the table to rustle up a prescription to purchase medical marijuana so that he wouldn't run the risk of getting busted.

A couple of his former room-mates - who were suffering from complications of A.I.D.S. swore by it - in spite of spirited arguments from Government attorneys that the leafy green stuff had no medicinal benefits whatsoever.

Needless to say, when his spare time permitted, Brad often joined in with activists at the non-profit organization - Americans For Safe Access - when they marched in the streets in support of the cause and denounced the DEA para-military-style raids on pot dispensaries in West Hollywood and elsewhere in the Golden state in recent months.

Once, Brad actually posted a feature-length article on the issues, on an Internet web site which was highly-trafficked.

Alongside a publicity still of former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger taking a toke on a joint at Gold's Gym at Venice Beach in his early body-building days, Brad scrawled the following cheeky caption:

"Don't Bogart that joint, Arnold!"

The hunky terminator must have a sense of humor - because he didn't react angrily - or demand that the incriminating publicity still be taken down from the "Tattler" blog site.

At this point, Brad's thoughts drifted to a life-long friend who recently passed to spirit in Canada.

Whenever he spied Tiffany pour a stiff shot of whiskey, a guilty look spread across her face.

Then, she'd let out her signature giggle, and utter up lame excuses.

"For medicinal purposes," she'd cackle.

"Pour me a jigger, please," he'd respond, quick on the uptake.

Misery loves company, after all!

Then, just like clockwork, the winsome twosome would drift off into a stupor as the sound of the waves caressing Sunset Beach just outside the bay window, ushered 'em both into a deep soothing sleep.

Gosh, how he missed her!

Proposition 8...High court denies appeal! Governor not required to litigate!

I'm staying out of this one folks!

California's highest court refused to force the Governor and the State Attorney Generals office to lodge an appeal on a same-sex marriage issue that is currently pending before the courts.

The State's Supreme Court was asked by a conservative group backing Prop 8 to issue a finding that State representatives were required to take up the cause of a ban on same-sex marriage which was voted into law by ballot initiative with a nod from the voters in California by a majority.

To the frustration of some, the Justices didn't back their refusal to hear the matter with any explanation.

In response to the critics, Jerry Brown's staff in the State Attorney Generals Office noted that their office has the right to choose which cases to challenge or defend.

In this instant case, Jerry Brown publicly took the position that he would not back Prop 8 because it was unconstitutional, in his estimation.

The Governor's office was in accord when fielded questions Wednesday.

"The Governor, like any litigant has complete discretion over his own litigation strategy, including whether or  not to appeal an order," Andrew Stroud, counsel for Governor Schwarzenegger, wrote in response.

"Here, the Governor exercised his discretion and decided not to appeal," he concluded, with little more ado.

After the Nation's first trial court on the issue, a Federal District Court Judge in San Francisco ruled on August 4th (2010) Prop 8 discriminated on the basis of sexual orientation and gender and violated the right of equality of marriage to same-sex couples.

At that time, Judge Vaughn Walker questioned the legal standing of a party in the action to file an appeal of his order with the higher court.

With that in mind, the Judge stayed his ruling to allow a  Prop 8 Supporter - Project Marriage - the opportunity to approach State Officials for backing on the issue in the appeals arena.

The refusal of both the Governor and the State Attorney General to step into the fray means that their chances of overturning the ruling on appeal (when it is heard by the 9th Circuit in the near future) are iffy.

In fact, legal eagles are speculating that the appeals court may throw out the Prop 8 proceedings on procedural grounds without ever deciding the constitutionality of the initiative.

In that event, the Justice may be pleased they weren't forced to handle that hot potato!

The Expendables...big, loud, ballsy! Cliche waste of celluloid!

The credits were smart and slick, and a dynamic score built up a helluva-lot of suspense in the opening scenes, but once the Expendables began to unravel (!) on the silver screen, it was obvious that a few once-celebrated careers were most definitely (out-of-whack) or on the wane.

In the build up to the World premiere, Sylvester Stallone trotted out his cocky old self on all the high-profile tabloid talk shows, to promote his new bag of celluloid tricks.

With a whimsy of snake-oil-salesman smoke-and-mirror chicanery, the still-attractive hunk, managed to convince TV viewers that it just may be a hoot to travel down memory lane with his paunchy over-the-hill gang of body-builders.

For example, in a sly effort to pack the movie theatres, the aging Lothario actually waxed poetic about his once-masterful action-hero days.

If "The Expendables" is Sly's vision for the future - and the much-ballyhooed return of action! thrills! and adventure! to the genre - then the biz is in trouble!

There were a few commendable bravado moments on screen - indeed - which flashed forward-and-back now-and-then, but most of the pickings were pretty slim.

The flick had a lot of firepower, alright, but it was predictably pre-packaged and Fed-Exed from the special effects team at the studio.

Call it formula flim-flam.

Hollywood Action Hero Film 101.

Even the popcorn was wasted on this doozey; after all, I fell asleep in my comfy theatre seat about twenty minutes into a thin plot that went nowhere fast, man!

If it wasn't for an - overly-loud in-your-face explosion or two - I probably would have slept right thru.

In fact, that was probably part of Sly's failing here.

There was too much emphasis on visuals and smash-ups - and not enough focus - on plot or story or character development and - blah blah blah.

Well, with Rocky, what did 'ya expect?

Stallone must have texted this baby, from one over-the-hill hunk to the next, until the script was finally hammered out eventually piece-by-sorry-piece.

If what Mickey Rourke said was true the other night on Jay Leno - about crafting his own dialogue for his scenes - then he gets the nod for being the one lone talent in a cast of misfits that couldn't act (or fathom) their way out of a paper bag these days.

Oh, with one exception.

Eric Roberts, in a smaller role, stole scenes (that's how good an actor he is).

But, when you get right down to the nitty-gritty, there wasn't much to crow about in that department.

Sure, the Expendables boasted a cast of action-hero heavyweights from an inglorious yesteryear.

Except for Rourke & Roberts, it was all mere fluff, I dare say!

In fact, when Arnold Schwarzenegger strode in at one point in a surprise (?) cameo, he managed to sully his whole career in an acting stint that was so stinko bad that it rates a "Razzy" this year.

And, it just may ruin his bid for President!

As to the action, well, a dash of explosions here - a tense moment or two there - does not an entertaining (or critically-acclaimed) film make.

One astute men's room critic hit the nail on the head after flushing the toilet on his way out the theatre door.

"That didn't make much sense at all, did it?"

Heck no!

Flush twice, it's a long way to the Executive offices.

Governor Schwarzenegger...equipped to handle gay nupitals! Licenses in stock!

California is "well-equipped" to perform gay nupitals, according to Governor Schwarzenegger, in response to a directive put forth by a Federal Court on Wednesday in respect to the thorny issue of same-sex marriages in California.

Huh?

When Judge Vaughn Walker overturned the ban on gay marriages, Protect Marriage - an appellant in the proceeding - argued that permitting gay nuptials at this stage of the legal proceedings would be an administrative hardship for the state because higher courts they have appealed to could later invalidate the marriages.

So, the obvious reaction was forthcoming from the Court.

Would it be a hardship?

Quick on the uptake - though initially reluctant to jump into the fray - the Governor fired off his response (with a touch of villainous glee, I expect).

"As the Court has pointed out, California already issued 18,000 marriage licenses to same-sex couples (before the ban was imposed by virtue of Prop 8) without suffering any resulting harm," Schwarzenegger's office eloquently noted in their written arguments to U.S. District Chief Judge Vaughn R. Walker.

"Government officials can resume issuing such licenses without administrative delay or difficulty."

If my memory serves me well, though, didn't ARNOLD actually veto a bill in recent years which would have ushered California out of the dark ages and into a golden era of equality for all (straight and gay) in respect to tying-of-the-knot ceremonies down at City Hall?

So why - pray tell - has the Governor now chosen to dust off his own tuxedo and take a stand for the inalienable Constitutional rights of same-sex couples?

An upcoming election, dahlinks, of course!

OMG!

And, not to forget, that the racks in San Francisco and West Hollywood are well-stocked with dozens of tuxedos in - delicious plum, vivid sky blue, rich shades of wine, and pristine white (for the virgins in the crowd) too.

Patent leather shoes, penny loafers?

No problem, will that be cash or Visa, Sirs?

In tony Beverly Hills, there will also be a myriad of fashion accessories to scoop up, too: rainbow cravats, silk pocket puffs, ivory gold-trimmed cuff-links (with matching studs (!), and more ruffled silk shirts in a dizzying array of pastel colors than you can shake a big stick at (wink wink)

Downright spiffy, you girly-man, you!

If we could only sort out the snags in medical marijuana!

Barack Obama, Arnold Schwarzenegger & Gavin Newsom...3 wise men bearing gifts?

Don't let the stars get in your eyes!

Best t*ts in dirty politics today!

They were  three men with distinct personalities and individual styles which matched up with their social and political aspirations.

Above all, each was voted into power by constituents who were not only a bit starry-eyed - but praying in their heart of hearts - that dirty politics and the old boy's network were part of a bygone era about to get the boot.

The candidates made a slew of promises, danced the old soft shoe, then fenagled their way into the living-rooms of the unsuspecting (remember the old tale of the wolf in sheep's clothing?) who were expecting radical changes overnight and assurances that each of their "Saviours" was in for the long haul.

Of course, their names are Barack Obama, Gavin Newsom, and Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The political postures the winsome threesome were drawn to - suited  'em - and dovetailed nicely with their unique persuasive skills.

Barack, known to be agile of mind, was capable of selling an Eskimo snow.

Of the three, Obama was the true political gladiator, humanized by the experience.

In fact, the PREZ was man enough to admit error, omission, lack of foresight (you name it).

Gavin, the aw-shucks Mayor, would have his supporters believe he was down-to-earth.

Just the kid next door!

That must be quite a neighborhood!

And then, there was  the larger-than-life Austrian (Schwarzenegger) who bulldozed his way into office after he mesmerized Californians with his superstar aura and promises to terminate those who got in his (and the voters) way.

Shall we call them the three wise men or Curly, Larry and Moe?

They're the three stooges, alright.

Pray that the next election delivers up a more lovable (reliable) cast of characters, eh?

Never trust a politician who can't give a cool thumbs up!

Olympics...protesters disrupt Vancouver Streets! Schwarzenegger hands-off torch...

Budget cruncher hands off Olympic Torch

True to form, protesters in Vancouver took to the streets - one thousand strong - to underscore their displeasure about the folly of the cost of the Olympics (and its impact on the environment) at a time when financial straits are hurting a lot of Canadians around the country.

As I noted in a post earlier this week, opponents to the games were gearing up for a full frontal attack to be launched on the day of the opening ceremonies.

They did not disappoint!

The rag-tag posse of disgruntled protesters swept through downtown Vancouver yesterday chanting catchy slogans.

"We ain't got no tickets!"

"Homes not games!"

Although they were well organized (and nimble on their feet) the men in blue were out in full force, too, and managed to hold the upstarts back without any disruption at the commencement of the Olympic celebration.

It was one of the biggest organized rallies ever in Canada against the world games.

The protest was described as an "action against capitalism & colonization".

"There's never been an Olympian protest like this. This is a first," said Chris Shaw, a spokesperson for 2010 Watch who participated in the landmark event.

The main thrust of their protest pertained to cost.

According to the group - Canadian citizens are taking it on the chin and bearing the brunt of the multi-million-dollar games - which will ultimately only profit land developers and corporate sponsors for the Olympics.

In one tense moment, a masked man clad in black dashed forward with an anarchist flag to taunt police, but was quickly pushed back.

A spirited bank of Canucks - in opposition to the anti-Olympics protesters - sauntered into the melee as well sporting their own brand of patriotism.

Wearing banners with the red maple leaf etched boldly on their face, they proceeded to shout down the party-poopers.

"They say protest! We say party!"

The protesters managed to get their message out, nonetheless.

In fevered speeches, organizers denounced Canada's failure to sign treaties with the aboriginal First Nations, cutbacks in funding for education and the arts, and development of tar sands oil in Alberta.

The arts issue inspired another chant.

"With glowing hearts, we Kill the arts!"

Some grumbled to anyone within earshot that their children would be payng for the Olympic folly for decades to come.

Earlier in the day, protestors managed to disrupt the carring of the torch ceremony twice, by blocking the streets along the celebrated route.

Meanwhile, in an upscale part of town, Governor Schwarzenegger managed to hand off the torch to the Canadians to uproarous applause.

Guess the the protestors were worried that if the tried to interfere that he'd terminate them!

Like Arnold, I'll be back.

Arnold Schwarzenegger...sword play holds sway! When push comes to shove...

My Kingdom for a steely-hard sword!

That Arnold can be a tough negotiator!

Just ask the State Legislators he fought hand-over-fist with during the recent California Budget crisis.

Yup, that one was a squeaker!

After quite a bit of sparring (and fancy footwork) - the cigar-toting muscle-flexing former body-builder - ended up ruling the day, though.

Even still, the Governator revealed bright-and-early today, that he has heavy artillery at-the-ready in the event political foes (feisty constituents, too) push his burly back to the castle wall ever again.

Yup, the yodelling upstart cum-California-glad-handing politician, bragged in a tweet earlier today that the glistening showy blade he once packed in the fantasy feature - "Conan the Barbarian" - is but a few inches - um - away.

Heed the words of Shakespeare, Arnold, who once quilled:

"Keep up your swords for the dew will rust them."

And, be wary of strange bedfellows, too!

Arnold Schwarzenegger...Quote! Does the Emperor have no Clothes?

I was channel surfing the other day when I stumbled on a VH1 special on the "worst" quotes of all time - which looked like a hoot - so I settled back for a laugh or two.

One of the silliest quotes popped out of the mouth of former U.S. Vice President Dan Quayle.

Go figure!

Nothing would surprise voters when it comes to old potato head, eh?

On a trip overseas while acting as a goodwill Ambassador, this little ditty popped out of his uneducated mouth.

"I wish I was able to speak Latin American so I could communicate better with the locals," he confessed straight from the heart.

Poor Mr. Quayle was clueless about the fact that the citizens of the Latin American country he was touring, actually speak Spanish.

Reporters jumped on that one like flies on sh**.

In Latin, it all boiled down to one little phrase, Dan.

Carpe diem!

Another zinger was attributed to the mouth of bodacious babe Paris Hilton.

When an acquaintance dashed up to inform the heiress at a premiere event that her book was No. 5 on the Wall Street Journal's top-ten list of best-sellers, she responded wide-eyed:

"What's the Wall Street Journal. Is that good?"

Ask Daddy big bucks, Paris, he'll know fer sure.

Then, there was the little gem that clued fans in on how clueless Pop Singer Britney Spears was.

"Is this chicken or Tuna," she asked her boy-toy during a pig-out binge on a reality TV show.

Duh!

But, Arnold Schwarzenegger hit the jackpot with this slip of the tongue

"Gay Marriage should be between a man and a woman."

Oh, does that mean that the "gay marriage" bill he vetoed rendered all marriages between a man and woman in California null and void?

OMG!

Inquiring minds want to know!

Barack Obama...Schwarzenegger takes swipe at Presidential Candidate! Big Bruiser has some nerve...

As Barack Obama heads into the home stretch of the Presidential race, you have to wonder if he has the strength to make it across the finish line.

After all, Arnold Schwarzenegger is quoted as having said about Barack:

"He needs to do something with those skinny legs."

Arnold, I'm sure he'd rather have slender gams than be thick in the head like you!

Blogging...top hits for Paris, Obama, Phelps and Elvis!

Well, I find it totally awesome that web surfers are still hankering to yuck it up over a post about Paris Hilton and the "wrinkly old dude".

Although the tidbit peaked in the mainstream media over two weeks ago, the hits keep coming.

Just goes to show 'ya - contrary to the scuttlebutt - self-styled Paris Hilton continues to pique the public's curiosity!

The post I penned on Barack Obama's "stolen prayer" has held sway, too, if the blog stats are any indication.

Web surfers are still clicking on the commentary, daily.

The fascination with Elvis - and the subseqeunt efforts of fans to rustle up a star for the legendary crooner on the Las Vegas strip - boggles my mind, too.

Of course, there is one no-brainer.

Both die-hard fans - and the public-at-large - are still hungry for every scrap of news about Michael Phelps they can focus their grubby little keypads on.

Trailing behind in their wake, posts drumming up interest include features on:

Arnold Schwarzenegger...budget mess signals lack of leadership!

Give a man a couple of inches and he thinks he's a ruler...

News reports logging the negative impact of the current budget crisis in California are quite disturbing to read.

While politicians like Arnold Schwarzenegger loll around on their fat a** - smoking foot long cigars and plotting on how to "best" their enemies in Sacramento over the issues - the lower classes are forced to suffer.

For example, pending the approval of a budget, it has been announced that funding for Medi-Cal clinics have been suspended. Of course - this means that the poor and disadvantaged in the State - may be without health care until the "deadlock" is freed up.

In addition, agencies that provide services for the disabled (which are funded one hundred percent by the State) may face life-threatening hardships, too.

I expect that home-owners and renters - who rely on a tax credit about this time each year - will also be shut out in the cold (no checks will be issued) until that "girly man" in the State Capitol gets his act together.

Arnold, you lack leadership skills!

Get off your high horse, roll up your sleeves, and get thee into negotiations.

Have you no conscience, Sir?

DEA Protest...House Judiciary Committee to hold hearings! Supreme Court cracks open door; LA City Council drags feet...

A rag-tag band of protesters met in front of the Federal Building this morning (March 25th, 2008) to protest the recent DEA raids on pot dispensaries in the Los Angeles area this past week, and the ransacking of a home owned by one of the distributor's, Virgil Grant.

"They grabbed cash, the marijuana, and various documents in the house, such as passports, records, and such," he noted in frustration to the crowd who were all revved up and ready to take their anger to the streets.

When I arrived at 255 East Temple in downtown Los Angeles at approximately 11:00 a.m., there were just a handful of protesters present, and one lone media type setting up to shoot footage of the rally.

Within minutes, a pleasant security guard strolled over and pointed out that no filming was allowed on Federal property; subsequently, the young lady set up her camera on the sidewalk, as instructed. The guard then asked what group was involved with the protest, signaling that the FEDS were unaware that the event was about to descend on them.

Caught with their pants down, for once!

The rally proceeded in quite an orderly and upbeat fashion; however, one officer was a bit testy. When a couple of protesters strayed off the curb, she barked out at them to "get out of the street", and gave a hostile look like she'd bust 'em in two minutes flat. I tell "ya, there's nothing worse than a female officer who thinks she has a set of ba**s.

Yeah, I know, former Police Chief Daryl Gates liked their upper body strength.

When a small posse of officers suddenly appeared from inside of the Federal Building to observe on the sidelines, she backed off.

Shortly after I pointed out that "Americans for Safe Access" were holding the rally to protest against the recent DEA raids - as if by clockwork - protesters started to filter out of the woodwork onto the busy thoroughfare - waving signs - and loudly chanting,

"DEA. Go Away"

The media started to drift in, and were immediately captivated by the strident messages being flogged to fascinated passers-by who honked their horns in support as they cruised by.

One read, "Patients are not criminals".

Another, "Prohibition creates crime".

A favorite of many, "Stop DEA oppression of State Law"

As I reported in my post yesterday (DEA Protests; March 24th, 2008) California residents overwhelmingly voted in favor of Proposition 215 - a compassionate measure to allow patients the use of Marijuana for medicinal purposes.

But, since the initiative passed a few years ago, no State Official - not even joint-smoking Governor Schwarzenegger of "Pumping Iron" days - has stood up to the FEDS on the issue, or taken any legitimate action to protect medical marijuana users from demeaning busts.

In fact, since the Supreme Court ruled earlier this year that marijuana continue to be deemed a banned substance, without any medicinal properties, the FEDS appear to have taken it as a cue to have a field day and crack heads!

For example, in recent months, there have been reports of abusive conduct by Federal Agents, destruction of property, and a pervasive bold-faced effort by the DEA (well-documented on this blog and in the National media) to crush the patients who take marijuana for medical purposes, and those who supply it.

Interestingly, a couple of the suppliers at the rally today noted that they have been paying taxes on their sales, and making a concerted effort to meet all the criteria required by State Statutes, in a good-faith effort not to run afoul of the Law.

As one protester noted - the fact that the State Franchise Board accepts "taxes" on the sales - tends to infer that there is a "backdoor" acceptance of the dispensaries and the services they are providing.

In my opinion, if the State is not willing to stand up to the FEDS, and support the initiative voted in by California residents, they should give the tax money they've collected to date (allegedly hundreds of thousands of dollars) back.

That's logical, isn't it?

Instead, it appears that monies from the State coffers are being used to effectively "close down" the pot dispensaries with the specific aim of squelching the whole medical marijuana movement in the process.

A case in point...

It is alleged that local law enforcement - the LAPD, for instance - are assisting the FEDS with their raids.

"All the City Council has to do is tell the LAPD to stop, and they will have to," argued one advocate at the rally this morning.

Why don't they?

Don Duncan, one of the organizers of the event - and a cornerstone of "Americans for Safe Access" - met with City Council this morning (March 25th, 2008) and it appears there may be hope on the horizon. More later, on that.

In the meantime, it is important to note that a Supreme Court ruling this past week, appeared to open a crack in the door towards legalization of marijuana outright.

Originally, Felix Kha Kha, sought the return of 8 grams of medical marijuana that was seized by police in June of 2005 in an unrelated criminal matter.

In a ruling issued by a lower court that rejected law enforcement's claim that federal law preempts the state's medical marijuana law, the Appellate court asserted,

"We do not believe the federal drug laws supersede or preempt Kha's right to the return of his property." The court further stated that, "it is not the job of the local police to enforce the federal drug laws..."

The Feds appealed to the California Supreme Court.

On Wednesday, March 19th, the California Supreme Court decided not to review last year’s landmark return of the property decision in "Garden Grove v. Superior Court".

By affirming the appellate court’s decision, the Supreme Court has made protection against seizure of medical marijuana by law enforcement legally binding throughout the state of California.

In sum, Law Enforcement is barred from confiscating marijuana prescribed for patients legally entitled to medical marijuana - and in the future - all seized pot must be returned forthwith, or a reimbursement must be shelled out to compensate for the loss of the illegally-seized marijuana.

Mr. Duncan also noted that the "House Judiciary Committee" will be reviewing the conduct of the DEA in upcoming hearings.

In fact, last week, Judiciary Committee Chair - Rep. Conyers (D-MI) - pledged to investigate the DEA’s recent and ongoing tactics threatening the safety and security of state-sanctioned patients, providers, and innocent third-party landlords.

In a prepared statement, Conyers noted,

"I am deeply concerned about recent reports that the Drug Enforcement Administration is threatening private landlords with asset forfeiture and possible imprisonment if they refuse to evict organizations legally dispensing medical marijuana to suffering patients. The Committee has already questioned the DEA about its efforts to undermine California state law on this subject, and we intend to sharply question this specific tactic as part of our oversight efforts."

Since the DEA began raiding medical cannabis dispensing collectives in 2002, Congress has never held a hearing to investigate the goal of these raids, how much these raids are costing taxpayers in both dollars and precious resources, or what impact these raids are having on patients and the state and local governments attempting to regulate the distribution of medical marijuana in accordance with state law, according to Americans for Safe Access attorneys.

The hearings should prove to be very fruitful once they are launched.

In addition to the aforementioned issues to be raised during regular oversight hearings, ASA and its members are also asking the House Committee to conduct a comprehensive investigation concerning DEA's activity in California and in other medical marijuana jurisdictions to determine the extent of potential wrong-doing and abuses - with the ultimate aim of ensuring that individuals who are in compliance with state and local regulations are not targeted by federal raids, imprisonment or threats of asset forfeiture, in the near or distant future.

Until then, Americans for Safe Access, continue the "good fight", while Governor Schwarzenegger cowers in the shadows.

Come on, Arnold, terminate those b**tards!

Don't bogart that joint, Arnold!

John Edwards...meets funding requirements!

Well, looks like Governor Schwarzenegger is not the only politician capable of flexing some muscle...

In recent weeks, I penned posts, noting that John Edwards was seeking to raise $500,000.00 by December 1st (2007) so that his campaign would be entitled to matching funds from the Government.

John Edwards’ supporters may be glad to hear the good news!

Over the week-end, campaign Manager - Joe Trippi - send me an e-mail communication noting that the sum of $751,000.00 was raised prior to the deadline.

So, it is onward and upward for Edwards.

Remember, the Democrats will need a strong candidate to stand up against John Paul in the upcoming Presidential Race.

So, do your part today to put the best candidate in the White House.

Governor Schwarzenegger...thanks me!

Last week I wrote a post in support of Governor Schwarzenegger's objective to divest pension funds with financial interests in Iran...(September 25th, 2007)

Imagine my surprise when I received an e-mail from the former bodybuilder slash actor, thanking me for my support!

In his unexpected, but welcome communication, Arnold said,

Thank you for taking the time to send me your kind words of support. I appreciate hearing from individuals who care about the future of California.

I am working hard to make state government more responsive and responsible to the people of California. My initiatives include providing the highest level of state education funding in California's history, improving California's business climate to continue our record job growth and protecting future generations with historic commitments to our infrastructure and environment.

Again, thank you for your words of encouragement. Your willingness to add your voice to the civil discourse will help me ensure a better future for our great state.

Sincerely,

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Now, if I could just wangle an autographed 8 X 10 glossy for my trophy wall!
