Family Jewels...Gene Simmons & Shannon Tweed on the rocks?

"Family Jewels", the reality show, shifted gears last night - at which point - a flood of erratic emotions pulled the carpet out-from-under Rocker Gene Simmons.

Shocker!

After twenty-seven years of being lovey-dovey - and raising two darling kids - Shannon Tweed (a twitter pal) stormed out on her once-smug bed-mate with the crinkly "do".

"I'm going to a Hotel," Shannon managed to utter up, before she slipped out the door of the sumptuous mansion in a bit of a daze.

What triggered the split?

The groupies, according to Ms. Tweed, a former playboy model.

"He's obviously still trying to prove something. But, when will it end," she wondered to her sister, who took her in a scant few hours later when the startling news spread like wildfire in their circle of family and friends.

At one point, the pretty blond fessed up about her worst fears.

"I don't want to be replaced by a younger version of myself," she lamented.

Ouch!

Her children - and a sister - reacted angrily to the musician's selfish immature behavior by the way.

"Why don't you go to a Hotel," Tweed's sibling hissed at Simmons when she strode by him in the hall on her way to pack up a handful of Shannon's personal belongings.

"You suck right now," she angrily spouted off, almost as an afterthought, in he aftermath.

Cut to Gene Simmons down-in-the-dumps and face-to-face with his therapist solemnly discussing the sad unexpected turn-of-events.

"I hate losing control," he confided in the cool-headed blond guiding him through the emotional process.

"I guess because I am a big Rock Star - and rich - that I don't like to have to check in with anyone," he admitted at-long-last.

"Deep down, I know it is all nonsense."

The showdown with Shannon triggered deep-rooted fears and awful truths about himself.

Talk about a dark night of the soul!

"I need her," he finally acknowledged. But, it's difficult to admit."

His son, Nick, was also pissed with him for allowing the situation to escalate.

"You always called us up on things," he reminded Gene.

"Dad, if some guy hurt your mother, what should you do?"

"Confront the guy," Gene shot back.

"Something to think about," Nick mused, as he strode off to leave Simmons to mull over the dilemma.

In the end, Nick orchestrated an outing at a jazz bar, with the ultimate aim of hooking his parents up on the sly at the Nightclub.

What a manipulator, eh?

Once Gene caught sight of Shannon alone across the packed house, he sulked for a moment, then took charge of the situation.

The aging Lothario strode over to Shannon to make peace, you betcha!

In minutes, the lovebirds were hugging and making up?

Well, so Gene thought.

Until, the stilted couple returned to estate, where Shannon proceeded to trot upstairs.

"Where are you going," he quizzed.

"Upstairs to pack."

Without hesitation, Gene took her hand and pulled her into his loving arms.

"I built this home for you and the kids. You're going to stay here forever."

A bit cliche, I know.

And - most certainly - mushy!

The truth of the matter?

Most couples have to make a decision about the road they're going to travel - either with their chosen significant other - or alone in the alternative.

When the therapist asked Gene what he would do to get Shannon back, he replied in two words.

"Almost anything."

Almost?

Well, I guess their future as a couple hinges on that one word, eh?

Once Gene recognizes that refusing to give up his tom-catting (and groupies) may end his precious relationship, he'll have to decide which is more important.

Is it his freedom or a loving nurturing relationship?

If  I interpreted the signals right, at 61, Gene Simmons is about to finally grow up.

Otherwise, the over-the-hill rock star, may end up like Hugh Hefner.

Don't 'ya think?

Ashton Kutcher & Demi Moore...heading for splits-ville? Body language says so!

Are Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore heading for splits-ville?

The body language in a slew of publicity stills lately appears to hint that all is not well - or a bed of roses -  between the once-happy lovebirds.

Has Ashton's role on "Two And a Half Men" (he's working and she's not) put a strain on the once-cozy cougar-boy-toy relationship?

Or, have the paparazzi just caught 'em off-guard now and then, in an off-moment?

Paris Hilton...breaks up with Boy-Toy! Crass commercial plugs muddy image!

Cy Waits & Heiress Paris Hilton kaputzky?

The word out of the Paris Hilton's camp is that the pretty heiress has broken up with her promoter Boy-toy (Cy Waits).

Though cute - Paris, never date a dude who is prettier than you! - the studly Lothario was a bit of an opportunist in my estimation.

For example, when the bodacious blond sashayed out and plunked down in the hot seat on the Dave Letterman Late Show recently, the clingy heart-throb hung in the wings nearby anxious to get his mug on camera!

When Dave made a comment about his "Members Only" leather jacket, the camera turned on the young entrepreneur to reveal that he was literally squeezed into the pricey outerwear.

Uh-huh!

Too tight.

Fashionistas around the country were sneering.

Paris, you're better off without him, 'cause he was dead weight.

At this juncture, I only have one bone to pick with Ms. Hilton.

Lately, whenever she saunters out for an appearance on the talk-show circuit, she is quick to plug a product.

Paris, you're starting to sound like a huckster.

Honey, you've got more class than that.

So, stop it, eh?

And, how was your day?

Gay Marriage...legal in New York! Lady Gaga wept! No more living in sin!

On the heels of a broadcast of a searing documentary on the "Stonewall" riots (which focused on the bloody fight for gay rights in the East Village a couple of decades ago) it is only fitting that the Governor of New York State - Andrew Cuomo - signed a controversial bill into law which grants homosexuals (gays) the right to wed with the blessing of the State.

The measure was approved 33 to 29.

Cuomo affixed his "John Henry" to the historical document just minutes before the clock struck midnight at the witching hour over the weekend.

The law becomes effective in thirty days, at which point, same-sex couples are entitled to trot up the aisle, profess their love, and promise to obey!

Unless, they're related to Kate Middleton, of course!

Needless to say, there was a lot of revelry in the streets of the "Big Apple" last night once the exciting news spread to the four corners of one of the most cultured cities in the United States.

I guess all those decorators and fashion designers have something to do with that, eh?

A few celebrities, who toiled to make the cause a reality, responded accordingly.

Lady Gaga wept!

Ricky Martin enthused that it was time to "celebrate".

And, ever-emotional Rosie O'Donnell cried out ecstatically:

"Happy Days are here again!"

Judging by the polls, the tide has turned in respect to attitudes in the mainstream about same-sex marriages.

Just recently, 53% of U.S. residents voted in favor of the unions.

But, a scant few years ago, only 42% were willing to give a nod to the anxious couples.

"What the state did today brings marriage equality to a new plane. We reached a new level of social justice," Cuomo summarized to rapt reporters on outside of the Senate building yesterday evening.

Silly me!

Gosh.

I thought the good thing about being "gay" was that you didn't have to get hitched!

Dating...pick-up lines that get you in-like Flynn! Only the lonely...

On one of the local morning talk shows, DJ’s were discussing the best pick-up lines to land a date with the fair sex.

It was agreed, without hesitation, that moving in too quickly on the prey was a bad idea.

Looking too desperate (or horny) was not such a great way to start off a relationship apparently (according to the polls, anyway).

Pu**y savvy Don Juans were hip to the fact that surveying the dating terrain from afar for a moment or two was the best approach for dudes anxious to score.

Timing was important, after all.

It wouldn’t hurt for a horn dog to pay attention to an "open letter" to males that recently appeared in a slick monthly magazine.

In that hilarious piece, women revealed what they found attractive in men.

A guy who drinks scotch is sexy, most tarted-up ladies fessed up.

"He shouldn't drink anything sweet or frothy,” the  expert noted.

An un-manly cocktail like that might land you a date with her young brother, instead.

A caller this morning was asked to show his stuff by way of a little amusing play-acting on the live broadcast.

As a laid-back Lothario, he wasn’t half bad.

“Heh, the weekend’s coming up. What are you up to?"

The “heh” softened the approach, I guess.

A way to sort-of slide into home base.

The smooth disc jockey suggested the date-master utilize the fact  actress Jo-Lo’s latest feature film - The  Back-up Plan - was currently screening to maneuver a cozy rendez-vous at the local movie house.

The suggestion caused the dude’s pulse rate to rev up right away.

“The sweat’s breaking already,” he joked.

There’s an old saying which goes something like this.

“A fair maiden was never won by a faint heart.”

When interviewed - a bevy of  pretty gals (and handsome guys) - admitted they were lonely.

“Most people think we’ll be too selective because of our looks.”

Nope.

Time and time again I have noticed a knock-out sitting at a bar sipping on a cocktail alone, because potential dates in the lounge were too intimidated to make a play for their affection (and feared rejection).

Then, some average-looking person was bold enough to walk up, and say hi.

Guess what?

A large percentage of the time, the twosomes departed together, at which point the other folks in the room started kicking themselves.

Want a line that I have used over the years that never fails?

“So, are you into guys with big dicks?”

Works like a charm every time!

Mysteries of the Heart...a love poem!

Between the bows of social grace

I gaze in quiet wonder

as a chorus of elusive emotions

subtly rise and fall
beneath the surface
of
flawless alabaster skin
And, breathe life into a loveless crystal face

Then, in one fleeting moment
Speaks volumes
About the mysteries of the heart
before vanishing into the ether
without trace
or regret

Chastity Bono...pursues sex change! A man in a woman's body?

Even revellers at the weekend Gay Pride celebration in West Hollywood were surprised when the startling news flash zig zagged around the globe.

Chastity Bono announced her decision to have a sex change operation to become a man.

The sexual identity scenario faced by Cher's daughter raises a couple of intriguing questions.

Did Ms. Bono encounter mental and emotional (even physical difficulties) when she tried to pursue a loving lesbian relationship with another woman in her current sexual persona?

Once Chastity goes under the knife - and ultimately transforms into a man - will any relationship she pursues with a woman in the future be considered a heterosexual one?

I applaud her courage in "coming out" on the issue.

When I was a teenager, anyone who declared themselves "gay" (we didn't use that term in those days") was considered "queer" and ripe for therapy.

One doctor, if I recall correctly, asserted that he could "treat" homosexuals and cure them of their "affliction" so that they could go on to live happy (normal) lives in nurturing straight relationships.

Personally, I've always felt that the individual (and society) should go along with the natural inclination (sexual instinct) instead of fighting it (oftentimes with disastrous heartbreaking results).

I recall the wild musings that rumbled around the world when the Christine Jorgensen story broke a few decades ago.

In the "dark ages" of sexual identity - and gender-bending - it was quite a mind-blower.

According to Ms. Jorgensen, it was simply a case of a man being born in the wrong body at birth.

I'm sure glad there weren't any slip-ups like that when I arrived in the world a bundle of joy!

To this day, when Jorgensen's name pops up on the news or in a conversation, it triggers an image of her stepping off an airplane waving happily to reporters and curious onlookers after the transformation was complete.

Many more have paved the way since - so, I expect the journey will be easier for Ms. Bono - who appears to be bent on resolving her sexual identity crisis.

Well, she's got ba**s, that's for sure!

American Idol...Adam Lambert courting cute dude! Yummy, judging by the smooch...

Well, Adam turned up at a trendy watering hole this past week with a young cutie in tow.

Heh, dude, not shoddy!

The handsome young toy-boy was packed into tight designer jeans (looked kind of like the battle of the bulge to me) and sported a finely-trimmed beard that edged the stud muffin's well-sculpted chin.

Judging by the grin on the American Idol-winner's face - he's obviously getting nookie - big time!

There's a bit of wild speculation about kinky role-playing going on between-the-sheets.

As the character on "In Living Color" used to say:

"I'm not one to gossip, but - "

Mother...memories indelibly edged in my mind!

Occasionally, I flash back to my childhood.

One memory of my Mother - though tucked away in the dusty recesses of my mind - remains the Saintliest!

I recall her lovingly washing my wee body in a basin of sudsy lukewarm water as I splashed about and squealed in delight.

In another precious moment, she cradled me in her arms as she sang a popular tune of the day.

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy, when skies are gray
You'll never know, dear
How much I love you
Please, don't take my sunshine away

The other nite, dear
As I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms.
When I awoke, dear
I was mistaken
And I hung my head and cried.

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
You make me happy, when skies are grey
You'll never know, dear
How much I love you
Please, don't take my sunshine away

To this day, I imagine, she was not only singing out those heartfelt thoughts to me, but also to my dear father, Victor, who had just passed away.

J.M. Barrie once said:

"God gave us memories that we might have roses in December."

Kenny Chesney...finds true love! Mrs. Right?

Lay Lady Lay...

One of my sources whispered in my ear that Kenny Chesney's heart is all a-flutter because he has a new gal pal waiting in the wings!

Apparently, the young beauty is from VA.

According to eye-witness reports, Chesney slipped into DC for a romantic sleepover in recent days incognito.

And, she'll tit-for-tat, by jetting down to Knoxville for Turkey day.

"She could be the right one for him," my spy gushes.

John Lennon...spirit plays tricks on me today! Pray for peace...

I just had the eeriest experience this past hour as I sought to transfer a post from blogspot to the wordpress site in respect to a memorial being held for John Lennon later today.

Just before noon - after receiving an e-mail communication from Yoko Ono reminding me that October 9th was the anniversary of John Lennon's birth - I scurried about to pen a post since the former wife of the Beatle was requesting that everyone pray for peace in memory of her late husband at 8 p.m. tonight.(October 9th)

So, it was necessary that I get cracking!

The blogspot post went off fairly well without much of a hitch.

In fact - I managed to post the news flash on the Internet quickly enough to alert fans - that Yoko will be at the Peace Tower tonight at 8 p.m. praying for peace in memory of John.

But - a series of mysterious (mystical?) events transpired - as I attempted to post the news release on wordpress!

Initially, I crafted the post - so that the e-mail message I included within it from Yoko - was outlined in red.

But, shortly after the body of the post was inserted into the edit bay, weird goings-on started to spook the heck out of me!

What was going down, for heaven's sake?

When I hit the publish button - for instance - I suddenly noticed the script in the entire body of the message was now all "red" - not just the section meant to highlight Yoko's message.

So, I hit the edit button, and sought to resolve the screw-ball issue.

After painstakingly initiating edits on the script I wanted "black", I proceeded to click on the publish icon.

Argh!

The post was now split into distinct sections in red and black, and both were all out-of-whack. And, not in keeping with my aesthetic game plan at all!

Then, I noticed that something eerie was unfolding before me, too.

For some inexplicable reason, a rather large gap had erupted on the page - and started to stretch out-of-control with a mind seemingly of its own - between the last photograph in the layout and the contact information posted at the end of the page.

At this juncture - I strategically placed the cursor in the body of the post - and began hitting the backspace button to resolve the problem.

It should have been a snap to edit out the slip-shod space running down the page.

But, out-of-the-blue, the screen image distorted instead and went wide sideways!

How odd!

Because the "save" buttom was now obscured, I was unable to wrap up the edit process.

In sum, I was being blocked from deleting the void-like space!

When I clicked on "home" to check the status of the published post - the gap was several inches in depth now - and posing quite the dilemma.

As I tried to fill in with data - the space not only got larger - but strange distortions started to "freeze" up the entire page to my great dismay!

At this juncture, I threw my hands up and deleted the post.

I was going to start from square one.

Then, something curious happened.

Suddenly, I noticed there was an unpublished post in the queue!

When I clicked on the link to review the body of the post, I shook my head in disbelief!

The John Lennon post was not only intact - but featured the body of my writing in black with Yoko's message in red - as originally intended.

As if by magic!

So, I published the post.

At this point, I thought I'd pen a post about the disturbing hour or so that I wrestled with the computer trying to fathom out the strange events surrounding the John Lennon incident.

And, sure enough, odd scenarios descended on me all over again.

At one point - just as I was about to finish writing this piece, for instance - it disappeared from the screen.

Poof, the post vanished into thin air.

Oh God, I thought. I've lost an hour's work.

After all, there wasn't any icon in the tool bar, signaling it had been minimized by error at the flick of a misguided finger or two.

I thought something was truly amiss, too, because I was forced to use my password and ID to gain access to the site all over again.

But, when I logged back on, a surprise was waiting for me.

Lo and behold - as I whispered a little prayer to myself (God, please let it be there on the dashboard) - I spied the ghostly post in the line-up waiting to be published - undisturbed!

Well, in view of what transpired this afternoon, I would have to surmise that John's spirit has been hovering around.

And, just maybe, was the good-humored musician playing games with me?

Alright, John.

I'll get the message out.

Give Peace a chance.

And love to Yoko, you say?

Oh my God. Electric shivers just raced up and down my spine.

John's spirit is here in the room with me, undoubtedly!!!

Cup of tea?

Ellen DeGeneres...uses humor to oppose Proposition 8. Unlike, Brad Pitt!

Lip service in support of gay marriage...

Sometimes the way you approach an issue can make all the difference in the world.

And, without doubt, a bit of levity never hurts.

Take the case of popular talk-show host, Ellen DeGeneres!

Instead of following Brad Pitt's misguided cue (which consisted of vulgar displays of moolah and pretentious statements to the media) the perky little blond lesbo - who recently got hitched to her long-time gal pal Portia de Rossi - used a bit of humor to get her cause across to loyal fans who surf regularly to her upbeat web site.

"I'm FOR gay marriage," she blogged.

Gee, I didn't know, Ellen!

"In order to protect that right, please VOTE NO on Prop 8."

And the punchline?

"Spread the word. I'm begging you. I can't return the gifts. I love my new toaster."

Don't worry, Ellen, if Prop 8 goes through (drats!) I'll buy 'ya a new one.

And, a pack of pop tarts to go along with it.

Ellen DeGeneres...Portia de Rossi...marry! No tinsel, but lots of style!

A couple of days ago when I penned a post on comments made by the respected Archbishop of Canterbury that "gay unions" were OK with God, I featured a publicity still of effervescent Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi with a caption that read,

"Poster Girls for gay marriage"

Since the duo had not tied the knot at that juncture, I suppose a few folks shook their heads, and were a little puzzled by the notion.

But - you see - occasionally I get these "psychic" feelings about upcoming events!

Thank you Ellen and Portia for confirming my intuitions were correct.

Yes, the handsome - er - pretty couple were wed in a private ceremony at their home in Los Angeles this past weekend.

By foregoing on a big blow-out at a local Church, the lovebirds avoided a carnival-like atmosphere, which would have turned the blessed celebration into a wild circus.

Portia's mother - Margaret Rogers - flew in for the sacred ceremony.

And, Ellen's ma was in tow, too.

The glowing couple exchanged handwritten vows and later posed for photographs for posterity.

Portia was pretty in pink in an elegant Zac Posen designer dress she slipped on for the life-changing event, while her better half - the likable talk-show hostess with the mostest - stuck with an all-white trouser suit which has become her signature look.

Insiders say the newlyweds hugged and kissed and held hands throughout the night.

Ah, young love!

No word on who carried whom over the threshold.

Or, where they'll honeymoon.

Congrats!

Herald Examiner...VD, anyone?

Life is a box of chocolates, for some...

When I opened the Herald Examiner this morning I laughed out loud when I came across the caption on Page 19 of the daily which read,

"Need some last-minute V-D plans?"

In my youth, VD (a social disease) was not something you wanted to entertain the thought of, especially on Valentine's Day!

Was this a sly joke on the part of the editors?

Personally, I'd prefer a box of chocolates or a romantic candlelit dinner, than a dose of you-know-what!

But it's a subtle reminder, I guess...play safe with cupid, eh?
