Chaz Bono...Oprah weeps during interview! Cher accepting sex change!

Oprah Winfrey broke down and exposed her emotional side when Chaz Bono appeared on her talk show this week to discuss the end stages of her sex change transition from woman to man.

When Big “O” quizzed Chaz (formerly known as Chastity Bono) about her mother’s feelings on the subject of the highly-publicized transformation, her  response caused Oprah Winfrey to openly cry.

Apparently, shortly after Chaz started to inject testosterone to enhance her male physicality (so that her body would match up with her legal sexual identity change registered at the local courthouse this year) her voice noticeably changed and fell into a lower register.

Chaz poignantly recalled that the loss of her once-familiar voice upset her mother.

In fact, one day Cher frantically called up Chaz on the telephone with an unusual request.

“Do you still have the outgoing message you recorded on your telephone answering machine before the sex change,” Cher quizzed her son.

When Chaz responed in the negative, Cher was quite upset.

“I’m never going to hear that voice again,” she wept.

At this juncture in the interview, Oprah’s eyes welled up.

Though not a mother herself, Oprah recognized how distressing that scenario must have been for the Pop Diva, when the shocking events unfolded.

"There has to be a period of grieving. She lost a daughter," Oprah summarized solemnly.

It was a rivetting Television moment with no-holds barred.

Meanwhile, Chaz expressed relief over the fact there was a great outpouring of love that washed over her once the decision was made to transition to a man at that particularly stressful moment in his life.

“I literally went through a primal scream,” Chaz acknowledged to the rapt audience, sitting on the edge of their seats.

And, the support also arrived in spades, the day the slated broadcast on Oprah Winfrey's talk-show arrived.

“This morning my mother sent an e-mail in which she addressed me – for the first time – as Chaz,” she confided.

In the final analysis, Cher is coming around, but - understandably - it has been a difficult row to hoe!

Curiously, Cher allegedly didn’t have a problem accepting the fact originally that Chaz may be a lesbian.

But, a man in a woman’s body, was something else entirely to reckon with.

Who knew?

Actually, I recall watching Chastity on the Sonny & Cher show years ago when I was in my twenties.

It never escaped my attention that Chastity was a bit huskey physically - and quite possibly - going to grow up to be a lesbian.

Whether that was the perception of middle America, I don’t know.

To me, there was a pink elephant on stage, but everyone ignored it.

For Chastity’s sake?

Today, it appears that Mr. Bono is comfortable in his skin.

Like Cher – who is adamant that waking up one day in a man’s body would be a troubling dilemma to deal with – Chaz has obviously found her place (is "home").

For those who are interested in how that healing occurred, Bono has pieced together a documentary to enlighten the teaming masses about the tricky transition, on sale now in DVD format.

Catch it if you can!

Scandals...of the Privileged Few! A Novel by Julian Ayrs! Chapter 9!

The bells at the Abbey began to peal, the quaint horse-drawn carriage crept forward along the cobblestone walk, and the Royal couple beamed with joy.

Whenever Prince Constantine and Her Highness Angelie Hightower half-turned in their plush upholstered seats – and glanced at each other adoringly – it was crystal clear to all who gazed on.

The Royal newlyweds were very much in love!

The elegant ceremony was hailed as Europe’s wedding of the century in spite of the fact the quaint Principality was tucked away in a secluded breathtaking climb in the Swiss Alps.

It was such an emotional romantic moment - that even jaded Queen Regina’s violet eyes welled up – when her grandson slipped the dazzling 79 carat Krupp diamond on Angelie's finely-manicured finger.

Meanwhile, across the big pond, Jill kicked off her heels and lounged comfortably in a designer ball gown as her ruby, emerald, and diamond-encrusted tiara caught the light and cast an exquisite spray of magical rainbows this way ‘n that.

Alongside a dozen-or-so well-heeled female co-workers, the Scandinavian beauty tossed back a couple of exotic cocktails – as her boisterous male counterparts downed brewskies in low-key jammies etched with teddy-bears, terry-cloth bath-robes, and medieval-looking gold-pronged crowns.

Royal watchers plunked down $50 a head to party-hearty at the trendy “Cat & the Fiddle” on Sunset Boulevard and toast Prince Constantine and Her Highness Princess Angelie in front of a handful of state-of-the-art widescreen televisions strategically-placed around the popular nightclub.

There was a surreal quality to the electrically-charged festivities.
The National flag fluttered in a subtle night breeze, palm trees swayed, and an upbeat rendition of “Putting on the Ritz” charmed romantics.

Whenever the Queen’s grandson raised his gloved hand – and waved it – there was a child-like quality about the quirky gesture that triggered a number of knee-jerk reactions.

“OMG,” one secretary with goo-goo eyes for the Prince giggled in an aside to her best pal.

“He waves his manly hand like a five-year old.”

Pockets of laughter erupted around the packed hotspot as word spread about the spastic gesture unnoticed ‘til now at the witching hour.

Subsequently, every time Prince Constantine rose to the occasion, all eyes stared intently in his direction as tipsy barflies waited for the hilarious jarring moment to arrive.

“There it is,” one handsome taxi driver squealed ecstatically, as a gloved hand fell into position like clock-work.

“The Prince has no clothes,” one waiter hollered in jest at this juncture as he dashed into the kitchen.

Gales of laughter drowned out the ABC TV announcer’s voice as he attempted to proceed with a colorful blow-by-blow account of the fairy tale celebrations unfolding on International News Wires around the face of the globe.

“Oh, stop,” one plump off-duty Nurse scolded her friends.

“He looks so cute,” a tourist from Hoboken exclaimed just before she scooped up a mouthful of delicious finger food being catered by the quick on-their-toes staff

Although the goofy wave continued to trigger laughter throughout the ceremony for the rest of the evening, everyone was pretty much in accord with regard to “the kiss”.

In fact, Constantine got a huge thumbs-up in the department.

“That smooch was genuine,” one middle-aged out-of-towner excitedly chimed in, as she adjusted her “do” in a compact mirror.

“The expression on their faces said it all,” she summed up to her best friend who was quick on-the-uptake.

“They’re so in love!”

Then, the scuttlebutt revved up.

The general consensus?

Compared to Tom Cruise’s kiss many moons ago, it was a passionate peck that scored high on the Richter scale.

“What a joke. It was obvious to any fool that the top gun’s heart wasn’t in it,” one reporter circulating the garden patio chuckled to all within earshot.

“Cruise is in love with himself, anyway” one jock quipped, as he stepped up to the bar to take his turn at a rowdy game of darts.

As the newsie reached for a brewski, the competitor became fierce.

“Chug-a-lug,” his pals taunted enthusiastically.

“And, L. Ron Hubbard,” a shapely server kidded with disdain as she waltzed by with a tray of empties.

“Look at all those dead soldiers,” Jill – who was now two sheets-to-the-wind and feeling no pain –chuckled.

“Michael Jackson’s suck-face moment on his night of wedded bliss was the absolute worst,” cringed another.

“Lisa Marie was obviously a beard mates,” one regular admonished her from a perch at the end of the packed bar.

“Talk about awkward and forced,” shrieked another at a table nearby which was graced with a mouth-watering fancy-tiered cake whipped up to mirror the tasty one about to be wolfed down at the blow-out reception at Nottingham Palace momentarily.

A roar went up in the “Cat & the Fiddle” when Princess Beatrice alighted from a purring limo.

A wild outrageous hat plunked down on the crest of her pretty head cried out “Fashion Victim”.

No redeeming qualities, no Sir!

In contrast – when the Bride’s sister (Frances Hightower) took a short trek on the red carpet with dainty bridesmaids and handsome male pages in tow – her grand entrance on the World Stage was hailed as a stylish fashion breakthrough!

It did not escape the eagle eye of at least one Royal observer - that whenever Frances was within blushing distance of handsome Prince Harry - she invariably turned a crimson red.

Gossips hinted that the two high-profile Royals were in the throes of a torrid affair.

One reporter from “News of the World” swore up-and-down that after he greased a palm or two, that all the salacious details came tumbling out, at the Bristol Downs Hotel & Carriage Resort on a silver platter.

“A maid walked in unexpectedly one day and caught sight of the young beauty primping in front of a full-length mirror in skimpy silk panties and a sexy see-through push-up lace bra courtesy of Victoria Beckham.

Was it just a coincidence that the Hotel suite flanked randy Prince Harry’s?

English commoners down on the upper crust jet-set seized on the brouhaha surrounding Princess Beatrice’s gaudy hat and the ensuing scandal to trounce the Queen Mother and the Royals in general.

For example, a posse of angry anti-royalists sporting t-shirts etched with nasty disparaging slogans, turned-out in full force in Golden Eagle Square to voice their whole-hearted disapproval.

“Off with their heads!”

An organized band of protesters – bent on barring Royals from remaining seated on the throne in the future without a majority vote at the polls –shouted out their criticisms in plain public view on the carriage route in the form of a hasty note not easily missed.

“To Constantine and Angelie”

“While we wish you every happiness in married life, we oppose your right to inherit public office and will do all we can to ensure that the Queen’s successor is chosen by the British people.”

The anti-royalist sentiment appeared to be growing in the disgruntled ranks.

Although only two-thousand actually protested in the streets on the otherwise festive Wedding Day – snarling upstarts asserted that they were actually twenty percent of the voting populace behind-the-scenes if the truth be known.

Authorities, on the heels of the assassination of terrorist leader Osama bin Laden, did not take the protests lightly, that’s for sure.

The leaders of the gang were also inclined to note that they had a soft spot for Prince Constantine on the other hand.

“I think he’s a man of the people. I’m sure he’d rather be somewhere else, doing something else.”

Even still, an organized gang of anti-Royalists objected to the lavish Wedding ceremony-– replete with a lot of pomp and circumstance - and paid for from the public coffers.

“It was an enormous waste of public funds for people who haven’t been elected,” activist Rachel Schwartz Holford underscored to activists in the streets.

Meanwhile, others took credit for an attack on Prince Neville’s motorcade in recent days, to underscore how simple it was to disrupt busy city streets at the drop of a hat.

The political activists acknowledged pelting Prince Neville’s Royal Limousine with eggs - and defacing the Royal Mansion - to illustrate their point.

Dozens of English subjects - who actively participated in the staging of the angry protests – were subsequently rounded up and charged with a conspiracy to overthrow the Monarchy.

“Prince Neville is a crusty elitist who wiles away the hours trying to drum up new-fangled inventions to transform the Monarchy," one critic complained.

"The Prince is intrigued by transporters for instance (similar to those first-introduced on the Star Trek TV series) and has openly mused about developing one to facilitate on State occasions to save Taxpayers funds (normally wasted on airfare, Hotel accommodation, pricey security details to protect the Prince, and what-have-you).

Constantine’s father is a die-hard environmentalist, after all.

At the Royal Wedding, guests speculated that an aisle of soaring Maple Trees commanding attention in Westminster Abbey was one inspired by Prince Neville who trots the globe participating in green conferences far-and-wide.

No, Sir!

Allegedly, the surprise decorative splash of greenery was the brain child of the newlyweds.

Some old-fashioned sticks-in-the-Royal-mud snickered about Princess Angeli's thoroughly modern approach in that regard.

For instance, Her Royal Highness' (a title bestowed on her by the aging Monarch) decision not to utter up a promise to “obey” her groom sent shockwaves through the horsey set who hissed their disapproval behind-her-back.

Because Angelie is not fair in skin tone – Royal diviners peering into their mysterious crystal balls - have crowned Princess Angeli the Queen of Clubs in their tarot forecasts.

Lady Marquis de Sorbonne – a clairvoyant known to have predicted the death of Lady Diana – seemed to think there may be a loaf in the oven right now.
“I see twins for the happy couple. But, one child may be switched at birth by mistake. Like Prince Harry, there may be doubts about birthright when the child blossoms into a remarkable whiz kid with looks unusual to the Royals.”

The aging psychic predicted in her daily column that a deranged young woman may have a fixation on the Prince which ends tragically.

Meanwhile, Jill was not surprised to learn that in a recent poll, Prince Constantine’s father was not favored to ascend the Royal throne.

Every since his father’s affair in the eighties, which some allege was responsible for the death of Constantine's mother in a icar crash on the Riviera; Royal watchers have been down on Prince Neville’s rise ro power.

The holding tank was smelly and cramped.

Funny that!

It’s easy to take the basic privileges in life for granted.

Like taking a simple piss, for instance.

At the Hollywood Police Department, where Brad waited to be transferred downtown to a facility the other inmates referred to as Twin Towers, it was evident that the asshole Deputies didn’t give two shits about the inmates or their precious right to privacy.

“Those bastards,” Brad whispered to one of the few sane white Dudes who had staked out a claim on the filthy floor to his left.

“A perverse thrill must course their veins whenever they spy a couple of the inmates at each other’s throats in a deadly fight over a scrap of stale bread,” Brad grumbled.

“Boy, your instincts are right on the money,” a sorry sliver of a man shot back.

“Two of the Sheriffs in the County jail head-up one of the worst street gangs in the city. So, watch your back,” a loser the other inmates referred to as "mouse" warned as he scraped a speck of shit off his worn sneaker.

“Flunkies,” hissed one biker-type with an obvious axe to grind.

“Most of ‘em have all the intelligence of a worm. They couldn’t cut it as cops, so they signed on for the Sheriff’s Department," another noted in disgust.

The first day they stride through the door to report for duty, the young bucks are all gung ho, ramrod straight, and ready to play fair-and-square by-the-book.

Within a year or so, though, they’re twisting arms for kickbacks, hitting on the inmates, and stuffing their fat yaps.

“Just try to come in-between those bozos and their grub when they're chowing down," another joked.

“Takes a lot of intelligence, alright, to walk an inmate from his cell, to the jailhouse for a court hearing, and back again,” another scoffed sarcastically.

“They’re so dumb, the Department was forced to paint lines on the floor, so they wouldn’t get lost along the way!. Go figure!”

“It’s what my Dad would call a grunt job.”

A pretty cynical lot, his fellow cellmates, Brad mused to himself.

“When they coined the phrase – “he thinks his shit don’t smell” – they had the Los Angeles County Sheriffs in mind."

“That reminds me,” one scruffy day-worker muttered under his breath, as he staggered to his feet, in a bit of a stupor.

“Guard," he cried out.

“Heh, stop that fucking nonsense” a seasoned inmate scolded from his perch.

“You’ll have those assholes pounding on all of us if you don’t shut-the-fuck up.”

“We’re outta toilet tissue, dude,” he shouted back angrily.

“You’re gonna have your knuckles rapped with a night stick, if ‘ya keep annoying the desk clerk," he growled back.

"Use a piece of newspaper jerk-off!"

In the final analysis, all the posturing was just a lot of empty bravado, alright.

Most of these assholes were all talk and no action.

Black prisoners were particularly good at that.

Paper Tigers!

“When push came to shove, they take it up the ass,” one cynical thief in for grand-theft-auto smirked.

Brad was getting pretty restless at this point and tried to maneuver his cold aching body into a more comfortable position.

“What’s it like downtown at that other facility,” Brad innocently quizzed one dude half-asleep next to the cell door.

“Facility? Boy, does this dude have delusions of grandeur,” a heavyset street tough spat out in his direction.

“I suppose Mommy’s going to come down and bail ‘ya out, eh?”

Brad was about to take a poke back when the inmate next to him grabbed his arm.

“Let it go, Dude. Once you get a rep for being a trouble-maker, things will go bad for ‘ya.”

In response the asshole gave Brad the finger to egg him on.

“It’s a hell-hole in County, buddy,” the soft-spoken dude calmly pointed out on the heels of the tiff.

“Say, you a fag??”

Brad did a double-take.

Just as he was about to respond, the kid explained the overture.

“No, I’m not coming on to ‘ya. If you’re gay, a fag – whatever they call homos these days – you can ask to be housed in K-12. That's where all the homosexuals are held until arraignment, sentencing, and what-have-you."

K-12, get it dude"

"In the eyes of the cops, homos are lower than dogs. They're K-9!"

“Well,” Brad hesitated.

"I'm kind-of bisexual,” he whispered.

“You know what I say about bisexuals," his new found pal quizzed.

“They’re trying to get in on everything. Or, trying to get a-hold of anything they can,” he chuckled, as a couple of the other dudes gave a knowing look back.

“It gets lonely in jail, if ‘ya get my drift, Buddy.”

Brad grinned.

This guy was cool.

Brad extended his hand to introduce himself.

“Brad. What’s your name?”

"Dusty,” he responded back in a lower register.

“So, what gives with K-12?

A couple of the repeat inmates chuckled when they saw Brad perk up over the K-12 scuttlebutt.

“I’d rather camp out in the hole than be housed in K-12,” one sniped.

“I don’t want no fag jumping my bones in the middle of the night when I’m asleep.”

As Gertrude Stein would say:

“A blow job is a blow job is a blow job,” Brad cackled back.

“All kidding aside, that’s why it’s necessary to have separate housing for gays. There is so much ignorance and hatred towards homosexuals in the jails,” Dusty was quick to point out.

Notwithstanding, most guys were hip to the fact that inmates in K-12 were treated better than regular prisoners housed at the Twin Towers facility.

There were two beds to a cell, the food was better, and there were recreational programs to wile away the hours.

But,getting accepted into K-12 required a bit of the old soft-shoe.

Uh-huh.

Inmates were required to establish that they were gay or bisexual by answering a quick question or two.

For example, the Sheriff in charge of K-12 had a list of questions designed to ferret out the fakers.

Ironic that, eh?

Usually, gays hide in the closet to keep their sexuality secret.

At k-12, they were anxious to openly disclose their sexual orientation.

For example, an inmate may be asked who Harvey Milk was.

Or, to name a popular Gay Magazine read in the gay community.

Questions may be about political events such as Stonewall.

Or, be of a sexual nature.

What is a 69?

As the conversation dragged on into the wee hours of the morning, it was pretty obvious that the prisoners ran the gamut from down-and-out drunks, to petty thieves, and even a hardened criminal-or-two about to run out of luck on the third strike.

The experience was a sobering one.

“Don’t let this get ‘ya down, Dude,” one likeable twenty-something drug dealer tried to console Brad.

“Van Nuys is the armpit of the world.”

‘Beverly Hills is the best,” chirped another.

“I shouldn’t even be a guest in this 5-star establishment,” one nerd moaned.

“I didn’t do it.”

A groan went through the cell.

Then, a handful of the cellmates cried out in unison, as if on cue.

“I’m innocent!!”

“Every inmate claims that,” one snotty creep sniffed in the corner.

Suddenly, Brad heard a few footsteps outside the holding area – at which point – keys jangled loudly and one turned in the lock of the door.

Had Melanie come through for Brad at this ungodly hour?

“Anthony Bellini,” a guard with rolls of fat hanging over his regulation belt shouted out from a clipboard with a list of names on it.

“See, I told ‘ya. I’m outta here,” a disheveled inmate cried out.

“Bellini?" the gruff Officer quizzed.

“I am, Sir.”

“There’s an outstanding warrant on file for grand theft. You’re being transferred. Pack up your things. I’ll be back in a few minutes to collect you.”

The rag-tag band of inmates started to hoot and holler spontaneously and raz the embarrassed dude.

“I’m not guilty,” one inmate mimicked him, as he rolled his eyes, and turned back over on his side to catch a few zzzz’s.

“Bullshit!”

Something told Brad it was going to be a cold lonely night.

Chaz Bono...fesses up he's a man inside woman's body! Gender Bender show ground-breaking!

Dave Letterman focused on a gender bender, the audience sat riveted in their seats stunned by the revelations, and Chaz Bono accused her body of betrayal.

OMG!

You had doubts about your sexuality identity, too?

For those of you Dudes who swear that you have been a man trapped in a woman’s body – for half your life – there is hope!

And, a little sexual satisfaction on the horizon, too.

More importantly, it’s okay to be a girly man.

Just ask former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Heh, is that why the terminator split with his wife this past week?

Just kidding.

Not!

All kidding aside, congrats to Dave for offering up a golden opportunity for Chaz Bono to openly discuss his side of things, from a distinct male point of view.

Say what?

In case you were kidnapped by aliens, and out of the loop for the past week or two, I’ll bring you up to speed.

Although Cher’s former daughter Chastity legally-changed her name to reflect a sexual identity change many moons ago, it wasn’t until just recently that Chaz elected to take the final plunge.

Uh-huh!

After a bit of psychological counseling, a lethal dose of hormones, and a smidgen of precise body sculpting, Chaz transitioned from a healthy female specimen to that of a cocky young stud on the sexual prowl.

“Did you mother suspect anything was going on,” Dave quipped, to gales of laughter from the studio audience.

The subject was a delicate one, so a levity (a truckload of it) went a long way to bolster Mr. Bono’s swagger – and ultimately engender - a confident turn down a road less travelled to the delight of Dave who was intrigued to say the least.

In fact, if Dave was confused about sexual relationship issues before the lights went up in the Ed Sullivan Theatre, he was probably less so today in spades, thanks to Chaz Bono’s man-to-man shock jock talk.

After all, the candid spot was not only a revelation - but – an educational one also.

According to statistics at least ten percent of the population is homosexual.

At a minimum, the ratings must have reflected that many hits at least at the witching hour last night (just betcha).

I expect that a curious America also tuned in, as well, if only to take a gander at “what’s become” of the lone daughter of a popular U.S. Music brand by the name of Cher.

For starters, Chaz has become a poster-child for the gay community.

“There are two components to contend with,” Chad underscored to Dave.

“The issues are sexuality and gender.”

Physical body and mind are at the forefront of the issue Bono stated matter-of-fact from the offset of the in-depth thought-provoking chat fest.

Dave sat up and took notice, for sure.

“Transgender individuals are lumped under the Gay & Lesbian Umbrella. Is it a good fit,” Dave probed from his easy chair on the podium.

For now,” Chaz acknowledged in so many words.

Aren’t they one and the same?

No.

And, that was the problem that Chaz was forced to grapple with from an early age.

“I was born in a boy’s body,” Bono asserted without blinking-an-eye as the audience tuned in all ears.

“Up until age twelve or thirteen, since there wasn’t much difference between boys and girls, it didn’t really pose a problem. But, when puberty came along, I became painfully aware that the feeling I was experiencing was not normal.”

When Dave quizzed Chaz further about the yearning to transition from unfilled woman into sexually satisfied male animal, Cher’s son was pretty upfront and responded with rapid-fire no-holds-barred insights that resonated.

I half-expected Chaz to crack open a brewski, loosen his tie, and bark out his opinion man-style.

“Fuck ‘em!”

But, the transition wasn’t easy, and certainly nothing to crow about early on.

Surprisingly, when the interview headed in a highly-personal direction, there weren't any pregnant moments prompting Dave to hide under the carpet for putting one heel in his mouth.

For example, in a bold-faced effort to turn the issues inside out to better shed light and understand them from within, Dave took a curious line of questioning to ferret out answers to nagging questions viewers must have been asking at home.

“If I was a man attracted solely to women sexually, and felt like I was a woman trapped in a man’s body one day out-of-the-blue, would I suddenly be labeled a lesbian?”

In response, Chaz noted that whatever sex an individual was attracted to before a physical body transformation takes place, their preference would remain the same.

That was a crisis that Chaz had to deal with - which eventually prompted Chaz to undergo surgery - to become a man physically (mind, body, and soul).

“I was attracted to women. Because I was a woman physically, I was perceived as a lesbian. In fact, I was a male trapped in a woman’s body who preferred to experience women in a heterosexual way,” Chaz struggled to explain to Dave.

Got that?

Now Chaz is a hot-blooded heterosexual, if you’re to believe his theories and back-up arguments, in support of a highly controversial (provocative) sexual identity issue.

For me, Chaz’s current incarnation epitomizes the persona of a gay male – physically and in mannerisms, for starters– so unlike the dyke image I once held in my mind’s eye until recently.

The fact that Chaz’s current girlfriend is bisexual – tosses an intriguing monkey wrench - into the scenario.

There were moments when Chaz also attempted to transform Dave a tad.

“Homosexual is an old term. The community refers to same-sex relationships and transgender ones as gay,” Chaz chastised Dave who was in the dark until now.

Bono referred to her situation as a "condition" which prompted Dave to probe further with a gleam in his eye.

If you took a magic pill, is it possible to be cured, he quizzed half-jokingly?

Chaz responded emphatically in the negative.

To me, an individual – either male or female – is cured when at long last they are comfortable in their own skin.

Amen!

Chaz Bono...LA TIMES spotlights Cher's "son" on red carpet! Cher's hairy legs!

Much in the tradition of the New York Times - the staff at the LA TIMES cast caution to the winds this weekend - when they opted to publish a red-carpet publicity still of Cher's "son" at the "Burlesque" premiere in Hollywood earlier this week.

Chaz Bono was pictured beaming (in her new sexual skin) alongside current girlfriend Jennifer Elia.

Christina Aguilera was dazzling in an emerald green gown that flattered.

Other cast members - Julianne Hough, Cam Gigandet and Stanley Tucci - were well-received by a gaggle of paparazzi who snapped away at a fever pitch!

Was it just me, or did the photograph of Cher give off the impression she has hairy legs?

Inquiring minds want to know!

At her last opening a few weeks ago, the atmosphere in the lobby was electric, as fans patiently waited for the concert hall doors to swing wide open, so they could once again bask in the glow of their Pop Icon favorite - the one-and-only - Cher.

For a run-down on Cher's long-and-winding road to super-star status, check out a prior post, which includes detailed biographical information on the former Mrs. Bono who is mother to two sons Blue & Chaz.

Two sons, you wonder aloud?

 Yessir!

A local judge just granted Chastity's request for a name change to Chaz after undergoing a much-publicized sex change.

Cher...dinner & show @ Caesars Palace in Vegas! Sweet Deal kicks off September 19th

The unsinkable, non-stoppable, songbird - Cher - returns to the Colosseum (Caesars Palace) tomorrow night after a brief hiatus from the stage.

For a limited time only, ticket-holders can snap up tickets for a special discounted price which includes dinner.

Expect all the old hits ( such as "I got your Babe") to send toes tapping, hearts racing, and headlong down memory lane.

Undoubtedly, a few of the more recent chart-stoppers (Believe), will wow the audiences and die-hard fans, too.

The publicity still for the live! stage performances underscore just how "timeless" (and firmly entrenched in the hearts and minds of the American people) her persona and beauty have become!

Undoubtedly, there will be a number of dazzling costume changes for the Pop chanteuse - and a dizzying array of fabulous hairpieces to match up with 'em - sure to make any drag Queen envious!

I remember the early days when Cher and Sonny starred on their CBS Variety show.

At the top of the show, Cher usually sashayed out; then, a gasp would erupt from the rapt audience - followed by uproarious applause - at the sight of Mrs."B" in the latest outrageous Bob Mackie designer gown.

At this juncture, Cher would maneuver a little turn and joyously scream,

"Let's hear it for the dress!"

In fact, in those heady days when censorship was a tad tighter on the airwaves, each week there was a big brouhaha over racy outfits that often caused a multitude of migraines for the CBS execs. Indeed, on occasion, a dress appeared to be nothing more than a skimpy band-aid pasted on here and there about her tanned slender body.

Throughout the opening number, Cher was inclined to flip her long silky strands to one side, as she ceremoniously licked her lips.

Yes, the perceptible personality quirks stuck, and were great fodder for impersonators to take a poke at ever after.

Once the top brass at CBS got a gander at "The Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour" on its debut in August of 1971 as a five-week summer replacement series, their collective gut instinct was that this was the hot ticket the network was searching for.

So, when "Sonny and Cher" skyrocketed to dizzying heights within weeks on the old boob tube, a pact was signed to return in December to replace "Chicago Teddy Bears" - on Friday nights.

By 1973, the slot became a consistent top-ten winner - due to the fact it was a high-caliber show which featured talented popular regulars such as - Terri Garr, Freeman King, Peter Cullen, The Unknown Comic, Ted Zeigler, and Chastity Bono (the couple's tot).

By 1973, however, the tabloids were rife with stories of wild scream fests, missed gigs (including one subbed by Johnny Carson) and reports of Cher trying with a black eye. When the show finished eighth in the 73-74 season, Sonny filed for divorce - and on the heels of the decree - the final episode of the 'Sonny & Cher' was taped.

In the aftermath, CBS signed Cher to star in her own variety series.

Not to be outdone by his ex, Sonny proceeded to sign a deal with ABC for his own shot on the airwaves backed by the same producers, writing staff, and regular players from the previous weekly variety show.

In a jab at Cher, Sonny joked,

"We'll have all the same players," then clucked, "We'll be missing one, actually".

Sonny’s shot at the big-time was a dismal failure, mostly due to the fact Cher - the cog that kept the wheels spinning - was out of the picture and unable to bolster his morale and the ratings. In sum, the writing was uneven and the guest stars were run-of-the-mill. In short order, Sonny's solo stretch limped into the sunset.

In contrast, the Cher show debuted on Sunday February 16, 1975 with popular guest-stars (and close buds)Elton John, Bette Midler and Flip Wilson.

"I'm scared to death,” Cher said at the time about her own humble offering.

"I'm so afraid of that first walk-out. Here I am alone, naked to the world (huh?). What do you think world? Do you forgive me?"

The series was produced by a long-time writer for "Laugh-In" - George Schlatter - and always started with Cher draped in a dark cape crooning inaudibly at a lone piano in a lackluster start-up.

Then, without warning, Cher suddenly threw off  the veil - and as the music thumped up tempo - the little whirlwind proceeded to strut onto the front of the stage revealing her latest navel-exposing Mackie gem.

The first-nighter was thrilling, but the show quickly slumped in the weeks that followed as the shtick failed to stick. At this juncture, Cher opted to go back to "square one” and team up with Sonny for a follow-up show.

But new problems surfaced in her life.

A quickie marriage to Greg Allman turned into a nightmarish fiasco.

What was the lady to do, with a bundle of joy on the way?

In view of the unusual events unfolding, the CBS censors were inclined to look closer at the new spot which was now slotted into the "family hour". With that foremost in their mind, the network complained to the star that her clothes and image were not appropriate for a recent divorcee.

"Suddenly I should start coming off like Julie Andrews?" Cher asked incredulously.

Over the next few weeks, the show's ratings fell steadily, as did the quality of the writing.

"Sonny and Cher" hovered near the bottom of the ratings for most of the second year before limping off the air without so much as a bang. In fact, Sonny and Cher were now a total write-off to the Network, and canceled for good after hosting four different variety series between them in just six years.

Amen!

But, Cher hung in there!

One night I was at the Backlot in West Hollywood a number of years ago when she arrived with Elton John in tow. The idea is laughable now, but back then, the gossip-mongers wagged their tongues about a potential sizzlin' hot affair between the dynamic pop twosome. Well, maybe the clothes-horses talked about frocks and wigs into the wee hours of dawn.

Not much else was goin' down, I betcha.

Like the energizer rabbit, Cher has gone on and on and on.

There have been so many "final curtains under her belt", I can't count!

Her return to the Colosseum on Saturday should be a hoot.

Bob Mackie designed all her outfits, so that's worth the price of admission, 'fer sure!
Prior to the start-up of  her last gig at Caesar's a few months ago, it was revealed that Cher had a novelty "john" installed in her high-end dressing room.

Imagine that, a potty that actually opens its lid automatically and blows up a waft of fresh air into the nether - um - regions.

I've heard of bl**-jobs, but this is taking it to the max, don't 'ya think?

Did you know that Cher used to practice signing her signature for hours on end when she was a pimply-faced teenager because she knew she would be famous one day.
Amazing confidence, when you consider her humble beginnings.

Born in El Centro in California in 1946, Cher was a sad fatherless child. And, her mother was an eight-times-married failed show-biz performer who struggled by on occasional singing gigs and brief movie roles.

According to biographers, Cher delightfully watched her mother’s nervy career pursuits from the sidelines and pined to be in the spotlight, as well.

For personal reasons, the starry-eyed youth ended up dropping out to take acting lessons in Tinsel town.

She stumbled along her new path without a lot of to-do until she met an intriguing man - Sonny - who would change her life at the age of seventeen.

The moment was a turning point for the shy teen.

Cher met her future husband at Aldo's Coffee Shop, the place where celebrities used to hang out. Since Cher was basically a nobody with fantasies about pop stardom - Sonny, a bit of a celebrity at the time - swept her off her feet.

In fact, shortly after their first encounter, Cher became attached to the homely - but engaging character - and moved in with him. In those early days, they both swore up-and-down that their relationship was platonic. In spite of the fact they shared an apartment, Cher alleged they slept in separate beds. (!)

Cher's mother tried to separate them, but to no avail.

Curiously, one day out-of-the-blue, they did an about-face and professed their love for each other!

In spite of their long drawn-out break-up years later, Cher noted in one biography - "The First Time" - that Bono was the ultimate love of her life and that the two remained amicable despite their personal differences and subsequent hardships.

Cher confessed in one intimate moment,

"What you saw on TV with Sonny and Cher was a good representation of our personal life, always laughing and having fun".

Perhaps the solid footing between the two is the reason why Sonny and Cher hit gold with their single - "I've got you Babe" - when it first hit the charts.

For some inexplicable reason, the song - and the curious couple - resonated in the hearts of teenagers and parents alike, around the nation in those innocent days.

"The Beat goes on" and "Baby Don't Go" followed, boosting their image in the industry somewhat, too.

Sonny's off-beat attire and Cher's far-out fashion schematics - featuring festive blousy pants that hugged the hip, skimpy tops, shaggy hair and fur vests - appealed greatly to the hipsters and fans who wanted to emulate them.

Life turned in a different direction after their daughter Chastity was born in 1969, though.

The intense spotlight caused problems; consequently, the home life of the winsome threesome became hectic and unstable.

On stage Cher was calm, but she noted to the press that - "backstage was turbulent" - and that she felt trapped.

Cher stated in her biography,

"The only way I could continue life happily was to split with Sonny and bring our show to a premature end." She continued, "This devastated our fans, as well as CBS executives, but it had to be done, I was simply, unhappy with my life."

In the end, stardom pulled Cher's marriage down; but, the media attention on Cher propelled her into the super stratosphere as she dated new beaus. Usually, quite young!

The brief marriage to Allman ended up in divorce due to the musician's addictions to booze and heroin.

When that sad scenario ended, it appeared that at 33 - the unemployed single mother was all washed-up - career-wise.

But then, as if by a miracle, Cher was cast in a movie called 'Silkwood', opposite film great Meryl Streep.

Cher recalls poignantly,

"I will never forget the time Silkwood premiered in New York. As soon as my name was mentioned, the audience laughed. I felt bad, but you can't argue with these things, it's just a natural organic response from the audience."

However, Cher had the last laugh when she was nominated for an Oscar!

In fact, by 1987, Cher was in such demand that she found herself in three important feature films at once, "The Witches of Eastwick", "Suspect" and "Moonstruck".

At 41, after twenty-five years in show biz, Cher was on top again.

To her surprise, she sauntered back into the music arena in a stupendous way with a surprise hit - "If I could turn back time" - in which she flaunted her sexy appeal - in an enticing risqué outfit as she wantonly pranced around on a ship full of young soldiers.

The result?

She garnered a big buzz in headlines around the globe, once again.

In the nineties, Cher re-invented her music persona, in fact.

But, as she was riding the crest of a wave of success, tragic news struck.

Sonny was killed in a skiing accident.

"I was in London in January 1998 when I heard the dreaded news. Chastity rang me and brought the news of Sonny's death. I dropped everything and fled to Heathrow Airport and the media watched my every move. Even though we'd been apart for 24 years I couldn't ignore the fact I spent a quarter of my life with this guy."

Full of remorse during her reconciliatory eulogy at his funeral, Cher praised the man who had been father, partner, friend, and foe - displaying a side of herself the world had never seen. Though hurt by endless criticism that her appearance at the funeral was an attention-seeking devise (they didn’t look like crocodile tears to me) Cher continued to mourn openly and pay tribute to Bono in a sentimental CBS documentary.

By March 1999 - looking as glamorous as ever - Cher was ruling the Top 40 charts and holding the number one spot four consecutive weeks with her new title song, "Believe".

How to define Cher?

Well - she's a survivor - first and foremost. Then, a pop singer, TV Star, Academy Award-Winning Actress, Disco Diva, home decorator, fleeting expletive tosser at Awards Shows, and a fashion icon.

Although Cher's been written off countless times in the past, she just springs back and conquers anew each year, each decade.

For an original ugly duckling, you've come a long way, Babe!

Now, for more glorious moments in the sun in Las Vegas.

See 'ya there!

Schwarzenegger...have 'ya got the ba**s?

News flashes in recent days have tended to focus on a surprising subject.

Ba**s.

Ah, the male anatomy!

For example, in my report on Chastity Bono's decision to pursue a sex-change operation, I applauded her for having the ba**s to go through with it.

Then, the following day, Schwarzenegger rustled up some controversial headlines when he special-delivered a bust (?) of a set of testicles to a political opponent in Sacramento, which included a hand-written note which teasingly taunted:

"You'll need these."

Without so much as a grunt, the gift was volleyed back into the Governor's court, thank you very much.

Understandably - the Lakers' b**s have not only been scrutinized up-close and personal on the court(and off) this season - but analyzed left, right, and center also.

Go figure!

I can't help but wonder where the spotlight will fall tomorrow.

Especially if it turns out to be a slow news day.

Haiku and the art of Zen Twittering anyone?

Chastity Bono...pursues sex change! A man in a woman's body?

Even revellers at the weekend Gay Pride celebration in West Hollywood were surprised when the startling news flash zig zagged around the globe.

Chastity Bono announced her decision to have a sex change operation to become a man.

The sexual identity scenario faced by Cher's daughter raises a couple of intriguing questions.

Did Ms. Bono encounter mental and emotional (even physical difficulties) when she tried to pursue a loving lesbian relationship with another woman in her current sexual persona?

Once Chastity goes under the knife - and ultimately transforms into a man - will any relationship she pursues with a woman in the future be considered a heterosexual one?

I applaud her courage in "coming out" on the issue.

When I was a teenager, anyone who declared themselves "gay" (we didn't use that term in those days") was considered "queer" and ripe for therapy.

One doctor, if I recall correctly, asserted that he could "treat" homosexuals and cure them of their "affliction" so that they could go on to live happy (normal) lives in nurturing straight relationships.

Personally, I've always felt that the individual (and society) should go along with the natural inclination (sexual instinct) instead of fighting it (oftentimes with disastrous heartbreaking results).

I recall the wild musings that rumbled around the world when the Christine Jorgensen story broke a few decades ago.

In the "dark ages" of sexual identity - and gender-bending - it was quite a mind-blower.

According to Ms. Jorgensen, it was simply a case of a man being born in the wrong body at birth.

I'm sure glad there weren't any slip-ups like that when I arrived in the world a bundle of joy!

To this day, when Jorgensen's name pops up on the news or in a conversation, it triggers an image of her stepping off an airplane waving happily to reporters and curious onlookers after the transformation was complete.

Many more have paved the way since - so, I expect the journey will be easier for Ms. Bono - who appears to be bent on resolving her sexual identity crisis.

Well, she's got ba**s, that's for sure!

Cher...Diva returns to Vegas August 30th!

The unstoppable flawless Cher will explode onto the Las Vegas stage on the evening of August 30th.

Undoubtedly, there will be a number of dazzling costume changes for the Pop chanteuse - and a dizzying array of fabulous hairpieces to match up with 'em - sure to make any drag Queen envious!

In fact, I understand that the last time Cher was performing during her stint in Sin City, a well-known female impersonator was on stage elsewhere in town, with her best impressions of the mega star.

Gosh - who knows - maybe a handful of the out-of-towners jotted down the wrong reservation number and end up in a swirl of falsies, hair extensions, and tucked-away d**k.

Sounds like a scene out of LA CAUX AUX FOLLES, doesn't it?

Cher will wail - "Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves" - this time around and any outfit inclined to conjure up the theme.

Yeah, she'll excite the crowd with "Half Breed", too

Did you know that Cher used to practice signing her signature for hours on end when she was a pimply-faced teenager because she knew she would be famous one day?

Amazing confidence, when you consider her humble beginnings.

Cher...Las Vegas Diva headliner! May 6th.

The unstoppable flawless Cher will explode onto the Las Vegas stage on the evening of May 6th - my birthday!

Well, actually I share the "B" day with George Clooney.

Guess it's pretty obvious that any male born on this auspicious day is handsome, irresistible, charismatic, charming and - um - I guess you get the idea!

Undoubtedly, there will be a number of dazzling costume changes for the Pop chanteuse - and a dizzying array of fabulous hairpieces to match up with 'em - sure to make any drag Queen envious!

In fact, I understand that while Cher is performing during her stint in Sin City, a well-known female impersonator will be taking the stage elsewhere in town, with her best impressions of the mega star sure to tantalize.

Gosh - who knows - maybe a handful of the out-of-towners will jot down the wrong reservation number and end up in a swirl of falsies, hair extensions, and tucked-away d**k. Sounds like a scene out of LA CAUX AUX FOLLES, doesn't it?

The Las Vegas extravaganza should be a hoot, though.

Curiously, in recent days, it was revealed that Cher had a novelty "john" installed in her high-end dressing room in Vegas for the upcoming gig. Imagine that, a potty that actually opens its lid automatically and blows up a waft of fresh air into the nether - um - regions. I've heard of bl**-jobs, but this is taking it to the max, don't 'ya think?

I trust Cher will avoid wailing - "Gypsies, Tramps, and Thieves" - this time around; and, any outfit inclined to conjure up the theme. A little tired now, don't you think, Cher?

And, stay clear of oddities like "Half Breed", too. The political climate has changed since your hey-day, Ms. C. Be politically correct, please!

The humor can stay, though. And, the muscled back-up go-go boys are a must!

Did you know that Cher used to practice signing her signature for hours on end when she was a pimply-faced teenager, 'cause she knew she would be famous one day?

Amazing confidence, when you consider her humble beginnings.

Born in El Centro in California in 1946, Cher was a sad fatherless child. And, Mom was an eight-times-married failed show-biz performer who struggled by on occasional singing gigs and brief movie roles. According to biographers, Cher delightfully watched her mother’s nervy career pursuits from the sidelines and pined to be in the spotlight, as well.

For personal reasons, the starry-eyed youth ended up dropping out to take acting lessons in Tinsel town. She stumbled along her new path until she met an intriguing man - Sonny - who would change her life at the age of seventeen.

For some inexplicable reason, the song - and the curious couple - resonated in the hearts of teenagers - and parents alike - around the Nation in those innocent days.

"The Beat goes on" and "Baby Don't Go" followed, boosting their image in the industry somewhat, too.

Sonny's off-beat attire and Cher's far-out fashion schematics - featuring colorful hip-hugging pants, skimpy tops, shaggy hair and fur vests - appealed greatly to the hipsters and fans who wanted to emulate them.

But then, as if by a miracle, Cher was cast in a movie called 'Silkwood', opposite film great, Meryl Streep.

Cher recalls poignantly,
"I will never forget the time Silkwood premiered in New York. As soon as my name was mentioned, the audience laughed. I felt so bad, but you know, you can't argue with these things, it's just a natural, organic response from the audience."

Even though we had been apart for over 24 years I couldn't ignore the fact that I spent a quarter of my life with this guy."

Then, a pop singer, TV Star, Academy Award-Winning Actress, Disco Diva, home decorator, and fashion icon.

Although Cher's been written off countless times in the past, she just springs back and conquers anew each year, each decade.

For an original ugly duckling, you've come a long way, Babe!

Now, on to Vegas, for more glorious moments in the sun.

See 'ya there!
