Royal Wedding...Wills & Kate coverage scores big in hits! Google Analytics don't lie!

Whew!

What a rush this afternoon when I checked my blog stats at Google Analytics.

The software monitors my hits (and misses!) at - "The Tattler" - and orchestrates a chart or two which focuses on the number of visitors to the site, the percentage of web cruisers landing on my blog by virtue of reliable "search engines", and the flow of traffic ups-and-downs (and what-have-you).

In a nutshell?

My featured up-to-the-minute coverage on the Royal Wedding on Thursday triggered an avalanche of hits.

Uh-huh!

My numbers, exposure, and rank went through the roof!

So, don't believe those bozos that say "Americans" - for starters - weren't that anxious (or inclined to perch in front of the old boob tube at 3 a.m.) to capture the dazzling ultra-chic Royal Wedding of the Century broadcast live from Jolly Old England by a myriad of probing media outlets here and abroad.

I have the "goods" (evidence & documentation) in hand that proves otherwise!

I expect when I report on my account of things later today - on the nuptials, the fashion statements, the snubs, you-name-it - there will be another surge into the stratosphere.

George Michael...hot single! Download free! Royal's Charitable Gift Fund!

When George Michael isn't stalled at traffic stops stooped over the wheel in a drug stupor, he's usually drumming up tunes in the recording studio for die-hard fans chomping-at-the-bit for whatever scrap of song he's inclined to toss their way.

Tonight, the sexy bad boy of Pop unveiled his latest musical musings, which will benefit a Charitable Gift Fund set up by Prince William - and his blushing bride-to-be - Kate Middleton.
George has invited music-lovers to download the just-released single, with a low-key plea that guests who snap up the generous offer, donate to the Royal couple's humanitarian fund-raising project.

The Charitable Gift Fund has been set up to support five causes that are dear to the hearts of the winsome twosome about to trot to the altar at the end of the month amidst a swirl of media frenzy and a throng of well-wishers expected to pack the bustling streets of downtown London two-or-three-feet deep.

"I'm incredibly happy for William, incredibly happy for his partner, and I'm absolutely sure that Diana would have loved the whole thing. I really hope she would have loved this track," Michael gushed.

In contrast to the tired remake Elton John offered up at Lady Diana's funeral (the Pop Star raised eyebrows when he dedicated a flat rendition of a song he originally wrote for Marilyn Monroe) Michael has offered up a heartfelt soulful ballad in the romantic vein that touches.

On the Piers Morgan talk show tonight, George Michael appeared to be relaxed and at ease, and downright comfortable in his skin.

I laughed when I spied the horn-rimmed glasses on the end of his pretty snoz, though.

I wear a pair of specs that are similarly-styled.

But, when I am out at a cafe - or strolling down the street and catch sight of potential date heading in my direction - I quickly slip off the old-fashioned eyewear.

Vanity!

If the lyrics ring true, just maybe, George has stumbled on true love for once in his long-suffering troubled life, eh?

Prince William's engagement...triggers fashion knock-offs!

On the chic heels of Prince William's engagement announcement - knock-off artists sprang into action - to fill the potential demand for all-things Kate Middleton!

For example, quick-as-a-wink, a cheapo version of Kate's engagement sparkler (the ring that once graced the finger of Prince Willie's mother Lady Diana) was being hawked on HSN (by an enterprising Carol Brodie) for a posse of young lovers to scoop up for their own upcoming trot down the aisle of wedded bliss.

Issa - a popular fashion house for the tony elite - was quick on the uptake, too!

Within hours of the future Royale's appearance before the frenzied fleet-street press - the top brass was drawing attention to the fact Kate was gussied up in one of their own understated - but elegant - saphire blue frocks.

Once Ms. Middleton is firmly entrenched in the uppercrust society of the super rich - and the International Jet Set - will she go the way of Lady Diana before her or the Duchess of pork - er - York?

Chelsea Clinton...stigma of Marc's felon father! Whitewater & Lewinski loom large, too...

Does love truly conquer all?

Pretty in Wang!

This past week, the big media focus was on the bride-to-be - Chelsea Clinton - as she dashed 'round New York City (and a tony enclave by the quaint name of Rhinebeck) to tie up all the loose ends for a weekend wedding - that some insiders joked - ended up being  a stimulus package for a host of local businesses tied to the "marriage game" that Barack Obama himself could never have matched dollar-for-dollar.

Uh-huh.

As wedding guests sober up this morning, wipe the cob-webs of sleep (and booze) from their eyes - and the receipts come rolling in - it is elementary (Dr. Watson) that the joining of two houses is a good thing for the economy.

Rumors abound that the high-profile celebration - though shrouded in secrecy for weeks - ended up costing the Clinton's quite a pretty penny.

No matter how you cut it, the "Wedding of the Year", was probably the costliest one to date (except for the Liza Minnelli/Dave Guest fiasco that Liza - with a "z' - unwittingly footed the bill for) around the country in recent days.

For starters?

Chalk up a dazzling Vera Wang designer wedding gown with matching frilly frocks for a gaggle of giggling bridesmaids, a dozen-or-so top-of-the-line Tuxedos (and Black-tie accessories) for all the males in the wedding party, a live band and rehearsal hall (to work out the kinks), and a security detail to keep watch over the whole kit 'n kaboodle throughout the course of a glitzy starry-eyed night sure to attract aggressive interlopers.

Then, 'ya have to figure in those pretty white tents - that local news station copters buzzed hourly from above - which rang up a princely sum as they sufficiently sufficed to house (at last count) 400 upscale guests who supped on pricey entrees washed down with exotic cocktails and fine wines of the rare and imported kind.

And yes - there was mouth-watering wedding cake - and they ate it all up, too.

But, whose penny was it?

Today, as the curious focus on the groom - and the news leaks out that the groom's father is a convicted felon accused of bilking investors out of millions - one has to wonder.

Do birds of a feather flock together?

Does scandal beget (or chase after) scandal?

In spite of the passage of time, the machinations of Hillary (the Whitewater scandal) and Bill (the Lewinsky Affair) continue to hang like a poll over the Clintons.

So, what of the offspring?

In the grand scheme of things, do the black swans swim joyously together or quietly hide their shame until the storm eventually blows over?

Chelsea Clinton Wedding...Wang was the thing!

Chelsea a Princess Bride in Vera Wang stunner!

No, mother did not wear tights, or a pant suit for that matter.

Instead, Hillary Rodam Clinton (U.S. Secetary of State) remained loyal and true to long-time pal - Oscar de la Renta - and made her grand entrance in an elegant wine-colored designer gown whipped up for the special occasion of her daughter's much-anticipated wedding.

As to Chelsea, well, right up until the 11th hour - the scintillating particulars - managed to remain shrouded in total secrecy.

What would you expect from the daughter of a former President?

Unfortunately for the Clinton's , a not-so-elusive Chelsea, got caught by ever-alert paparazzi slipping into Vera Wang's studio on the eve of the momentous occasion set to unfold in Rhinebeck (NY) on Sunday.

In two seconds flat, the tongues of uppercrust socialites were chattering, Wang is the thing!

Vanity Fair editors were miffed.

Sightings at Oscar's studio (de la Renta, silly!) had 'em firmly convinced that strong-willed Chelsea was going that-a-way for the crowning fairy-tale touch.

Women's Wear Daily got it right, though, after spying Chelsea at Wang's in a floppy chapeau that didn't quite manage to cover-up enough.

Ouch!

The floor-length gown subtly-imbedded with a smattering of jewel-like facets - and eye-catching shimmering waist-band fashion flourishes - surpassed all expectations of even the toughest discerning critic.

To many, the up-and-coming Wang - orbiting exclusively in her own exquisite fashion sphere - was a plum choice.

No surprise.

Since her brand was first introduced in 1990, the Wang persona - classical, full of whimsy, romantic - has become synonymous with wedding ensembles dripping with prestige, luxury, and hints of staggering social connections.

Tiers of white tulle bustled beneath a hand-stitched organza overlay in harmony with a gem-encrusted waist-band smacked of regal ambitions, for example.

And, a floor-length veil that draped (just so) over an elegant up-swept "do" - as the Princess Bride was escorted down the aisle by her father to the side of her husband-to-be - was truly the crowning touch.

Congrats Vera Wang, fashion Queen of the new millennium!

Clinton mobbed by well-wishers on eve of Chelsea's Wedding

Chelsea Clinton... marries beau Marc! Pomp & circumstance prevailed in tony Rhinebeck (New York)...

Quaint Rhinebeck (NY) setting for Chelsea's tony wedding!

Snap of lovebirds day before nupitals!

Chelsea is  no longer a single working gal!

Just moments ago, Secretary of State - Hillary Clinton and hubby (former U.S. President Bill Clinton) - issued an upbeat notice to the presss acknowledging that their little girl - Chelsea - marched down the aisle on Saturday July 31st and tied the knot with her longtime boy-toy Marc Mezvinsky.

After weeks of secrecy (and a truckload of frenzied media attention) the two lovebirds finally exchanged their vows at an exclusive estate on the Hudson River - once owned by eccentric multi-millionaire - John Astor IV.
Uh-huh.

Chelsea wed straight-laced Marc Mezvinsky after weeks of secrecy and a build-up that had celebrity watchers flocking to the small village of Rhinebeck for the evening's nuptials.

"Today, we watched with great pride and overwhelming emotion as Chelsea and Marc wed in a beautiful ceremony at Astor Courts, surrounded by family and their close friends," the Clintons beamed.

More than 400 guests allegedly turned-out at the historic estate to catch the solemn exchange of vows  up-close and personal.

"We could not have asked for a more perfect day to celebrate the beginning of their life together, and we are so happy to welcome Marc into our family. On behalf of the newlyweds, we want to give special thanks to the people of Rhinebeck for welcoming us and to everyone for their well-wishes on this special day."

Security was tight, but that didn't stop lookie-loo's of the highest calibre, from trotting into town for a little star-gazing.

Today, a few disgruntled locals whined that the pickings were slim.

Ted Danson and Madeleine Albright were spied openly in the streets, yes, but that was not enough to satiate their hunger for a gander at a handful of the high-profile celebs that were expected to slip into town for what was being billed as the undisputed "Wedding of the Century".

"Where's Streisand," some wondered aloud to each other.

Probably having a quiet tete a tete over a bottle of Clinton Vintage Wine with slick Willy somewhere cozy and private on the 400 acre estate.

While we're on the subject of vino, one Rhinebeck neighbour was surprised to thrust open her front door at the crack-of-dawn today, and stumble upon a gift from the Clinton clan.

In a thoughtful note, the Clinton's apologized for any unexpected disturbances the wedding may have caused in the neighborhood in recent days, and proferred up a bottle of wine to help wile away what just may be a noisy night ahead.

Tucked inside was a pass, guaranteed to expedite their comings-and-goings 'round the quaint village, while security is tight over the next forty-eight hours or so.

Indeed.

Officials restricted airspace over the estate and the upscale enclave will remain a no-fly zone until 3:30 a.m. on Sunday (August 1st).

Roads were also blocked off,  so the gift bag to potentially inconvenienced neighbors, was sure to alleviate a headache or two.

The Beekman Arms, the oldest Hotel in the country, proved to be the best perch for star-gazers to alight last night with cameras and leather-bound autograph books in tow.

The cocktail party tossed there by the Clintons attracted - chic high-profile guests, family, and friends - who turned up in their Sunday-best to toss back an ale or two.

No sight of Chelsea throughout the course of the day, though.

Inside sources whispered in my ear that the anxious bride-to-be was taking in a swirl of spa treatments alongside her gaggle of giggling bridesmaids.

On the other hand, one black sheep of the family stood out like a sore thumb.

Roger Clinton - Bill's sibling rival - was caught on camera by one network newsie  shuffling down the main street with it all hanging out.

Unlike Hillary & Bill - who were blessed with lodging at the Amy Leibowitz estate - I expect that Jolly Roger was booked into the local Motel 6 (twenty miles down the main strip).

Chelsea Clinton and Marc Mezvinsky were teenage pals in Washington, before they both packed up their bags, and headed out West to enroll in prestigious Standford University where love - obviously - blossomed.

Although it was rumored that Chelsea once dated Jake Gyllenhaal, nothing came of that alleged fling.

The groom - an investment banker - is the son of former U.S. Reps. Marjorie Margolies-Mezvinsky (Pennsylvania) and Ed Mezvinsky (Iowa).

Congrats Chelsea & Marc!

Chelsea drags a** to keep up prior to big day in Rhinebeck!

Chelsea Clinton...paparazzi swarm in frenzied build-up on Wedding Day!

Chelsea's big day thanks to Daddy!

Slick Willy approves of son-in-law!

The celebrity sightings started last evening in the tony enclave of Rhinebeck, New York - as guests who were invited to Chelsea Clinton's much-ballyhooed nupitals - began arriving to attend a well-planned rehearsal at an estimated cost of $250,000.00.

Bill Clinton, casually dressed in a black "t'" and slacks nabbed a lot of attention - for instance - when he stepped out of a chauffeured limo and proceeded to stroll through the throngs all smiles into one of the many quaint local establishments that dotted the picturesque main street.

In his wake, the locals kibbitzed and chatted each other up about the high-profile celebrity guest list.

In the mouths of many?

Gossips tittered about  Barbara Streisand and Sarah Jessica Parker - surely two of the most highly-visible celebs - to saunter into their little neck of the woods in recent years

When a shot of Babs filled the TV screen in my hospital room this morning,  alongside a report on her invite to the wedding, a big bouncey nurse voiced her blatant disapproval.

"Why did Chelsea invite her to the wedding?"

I pointed out that the Diva was one of slick Willy's big financial backers in his last bid for the Presidency.

At which point, I noted that Barbara once slept overnight at the White House.

"I think she had the hots for Bill, don't you," I was inclined to tease from the comfy confines of my hospital bed.

The nurse let out a belly-laugh at this juncture.

"I just betcha!"

One local was sure she caught sight of fashion designer Vera Wang.

That little tidbit added feul to the speculation that Chelsea would sashay down the aisle in one of her exquisite creations.

"The Bridesmaids will be wearing Wang, too," another asserted from the sidelines.

But, Hillary - it's been rumored - has remained loyal to long-time pal - Oscar De La Renta - in that fashion regard.

Big "O" sightings abounded around town, too.

Was Oprah Winfrey really in their humble midst?

Gifting shiny new cars - left, right and center - no doubt.

No Steadman in sight, however.

At dusk, after rehearsal broke, there was a flurry of activity as guests shuffled off  to an old Historic Inn for cocktails with the Clintons.

"Oh, look. There's Madeleine Albright," cried out one excited bystander.

Meanwhile, media hounds jockeyed for position, and mused about the details.

After all, it's all about the details!

Although most struggling American couples (first starting out) shell out approximately $24,000.00 for their special day at the local chapel, the scuttlebutt persists that the Clintons have gone way over the top with a spiffy  "once-in-a-lifetime" ceremony expected to run up receipts in the neighborhood of 2 to 3 million smackeroos.

In retrospect, it appears that staggering sums of moolah the former President drummed up from speaking engagements around the globe in recent years (emoted at an estimated $100,000.00 a pop) may come in handy when the well-turned-out Barista presents the bill.

In one respect, the Clinton's may have lucked out.

Insiders whisper that the menu will be predominated by Vegan dishes, in view of the fact, Chelsea is a big fan of Vegetarianism.

American voters may recall press clips of Ms. Clinton nursing bumper crops in the organic garden on the White House roof, and later shuffling around the state-of-the-art kitchen, whipping up nutritious Vegan meals for the1st family.

How much could a few lousey vegetables (and tofu) cost in the grand scheme of things?

The wedding march is expected to strike up at 6 p.m. this evening.

But, invited guests may not be beaming in the church aisles, unless they first pass muster with a security detail that is handling the evening's blessed event with military-style precision.

At the door of the Church, armed guards will scan guest lists and photos, to ensure there are no gate crashers at-the-ready to hitch a joy ride on the High Society event of the year.

Pssst!

See 'ya at the kitchen door!

Harrison Ford...& perky Calista Flockhart tie knot! No longer living in sin...

Superstar couple tie knot!

Big box office draw - Harrison Ford - married his long-time sweetheart (Calista Flockhart) in the lofty elite climbs of Sante Fee (New Mexico) on Tuesday.

One has to wonder what prompted the ceremony - the knot was tied at the Governor's Mansion - in view of the fact the two highly-independent career-minded actors have been co-habitating in sin for the past eight years.

The celebrity couple boast one son.

The Indiana Jones star is no newcomer to parenting, however.

The former carpenter - who toiled at odd jobs before stardom struck - has two children from two former marriages and is the proud grandfather of three.

Congrats!

Will Harrison crack the whip in the bedroom now?

Prince William...wedding bells ahead? Handsome Royal says "Kiss me Kate"...

Just like his father before - Prince William - has been dragging his feet when it comes to commitment.

In fact, Prince Charles waited so long to marry, folks started to speculate he was "gay".

And what of practical down-to-earth Prince William?

Imagine that, dating a pretty Brit for nine years, with no engagement in sight.

Until now, that is.

The Royal scuttlebutt has turned the glare of the spotlight on the handsome couple in recent days as insiders titter that an engagement is finally in the offing.

Will the Prince do it in true romantic style - on bended knee - perhaps?

Or, plop a sparkler in her champagne glass when his beloved - Kate - has innocently turned her head away at the dinner table at some swank upscale watering hole.

Critics wonder why the Prince has been taking so long to pop the question.

I say, if they're going to commit to each other for life, there is no pressing need to tie the knot until the moment is absolutely oozing with  "romantic" possibilities.

After all, the Prince is ripe for marriage at the age of 28.

Curiously,  his crush is the same age.

Kate Middleton is the daughter of a former pilot who married a flight attendant many moons ago.

Gossip mongers wagged their tongues when Prince William was overheard addressing Kate's father as "Dad" on a recent vacation.

Meanwhile, on these shores,  U.S. publications - People Magazine, for instance - have been touting Ms. Middleton as the next "Royal Princess".

Polish up that tiara, eh Jeeves?

Prince William is currently in training in the Royal Air Force in Wales to be a helicopter pilot.

Spies on the Royal trail have whispered that Ms. Middleton has been co-habitating with the Prince in his rented digs.

Trying out the role of dutiful wife?

Ellen DeGeneres...uses humor to oppose Proposition 8. Unlike, Brad Pitt!

Lip service in support of gay marriage...

Sometimes the way you approach an issue can make all the difference in the world.

And, without doubt, a bit of levity never hurts.

Take the case of popular talk-show host, Ellen DeGeneres!

Instead of following Brad Pitt's misguided cue (which consisted of vulgar displays of moolah and pretentious statements to the media) the perky little blond lesbo - who recently got hitched to her long-time gal pal Portia de Rossi - used a bit of humor to get her cause across to loyal fans who surf regularly to her upbeat web site.

"I'm FOR gay marriage," she blogged.

Gee, I didn't know, Ellen!

"In order to protect that right, please VOTE NO on Prop 8."

And the punchline?

"Spread the word. I'm begging you. I can't return the gifts. I love my new toaster."

Don't worry, Ellen, if Prop 8 goes through (drats!) I'll buy 'ya a new one.

And, a pack of pop tarts to go along with it.
