Chelsea Clinton...paparazzi swarm in frenzied build-up on Wedding Day!

Chelsea's big day thanks to Daddy!

Slick Willy approves of son-in-law!

The celebrity sightings started last evening in the tony enclave of Rhinebeck, New York - as guests who were invited to Chelsea Clinton's much-ballyhooed nupitals - began arriving to attend a well-planned rehearsal at an estimated cost of $250,000.00.

Bill Clinton, casually dressed in a black "t'" and slacks nabbed a lot of attention - for instance - when he stepped out of a chauffeured limo and proceeded to stroll through the throngs all smiles into one of the many quaint local establishments that dotted the picturesque main street.

In his wake, the locals kibbitzed and chatted each other up about the high-profile celebrity guest list.

In the mouths of many?

Gossips tittered about  Barbara Streisand and Sarah Jessica Parker - surely two of the most highly-visible celebs - to saunter into their little neck of the woods in recent years

When a shot of Babs filled the TV screen in my hospital room this morning,  alongside a report on her invite to the wedding, a big bouncey nurse voiced her blatant disapproval.

"Why did Chelsea invite her to the wedding?"

I pointed out that the Diva was one of slick Willy's big financial backers in his last bid for the Presidency.

At which point, I noted that Barbara once slept overnight at the White House.

"I think she had the hots for Bill, don't you," I was inclined to tease from the comfy confines of my hospital bed.

The nurse let out a belly-laugh at this juncture.

"I just betcha!"

One local was sure she caught sight of fashion designer Vera Wang.

That little tidbit added feul to the speculation that Chelsea would sashay down the aisle in one of her exquisite creations.

"The Bridesmaids will be wearing Wang, too," another asserted from the sidelines.

But, Hillary - it's been rumored - has remained loyal to long-time pal - Oscar De La Renta - in that fashion regard.

Big "O" sightings abounded around town, too.

Was Oprah Winfrey really in their humble midst?

Gifting shiny new cars - left, right and center - no doubt.

No Steadman in sight, however.

At dusk, after rehearsal broke, there was a flurry of activity as guests shuffled off  to an old Historic Inn for cocktails with the Clintons.

"Oh, look. There's Madeleine Albright," cried out one excited bystander.

Meanwhile, media hounds jockeyed for position, and mused about the details.

After all, it's all about the details!

Although most struggling American couples (first starting out) shell out approximately $24,000.00 for their special day at the local chapel, the scuttlebutt persists that the Clintons have gone way over the top with a spiffy  "once-in-a-lifetime" ceremony expected to run up receipts in the neighborhood of 2 to 3 million smackeroos.

In retrospect, it appears that staggering sums of moolah the former President drummed up from speaking engagements around the globe in recent years (emoted at an estimated $100,000.00 a pop) may come in handy when the well-turned-out Barista presents the bill.

In one respect, the Clinton's may have lucked out.

Insiders whisper that the menu will be predominated by Vegan dishes, in view of the fact, Chelsea is a big fan of Vegetarianism.

American voters may recall press clips of Ms. Clinton nursing bumper crops in the organic garden on the White House roof, and later shuffling around the state-of-the-art kitchen, whipping up nutritious Vegan meals for the1st family.

How much could a few lousey vegetables (and tofu) cost in the grand scheme of things?

The wedding march is expected to strike up at 6 p.m. this evening.

But, invited guests may not be beaming in the church aisles, unless they first pass muster with a security detail that is handling the evening's blessed event with military-style precision.

At the door of the Church, armed guards will scan guest lists and photos, to ensure there are no gate crashers at-the-ready to hitch a joy ride on the High Society event of the year.

Pssst!

See 'ya at the kitchen door!

Madeleine ready to catch the bouquet!

Barack Obama...last chance to dine with President June 18th! Contribute 5 bucks or more...

Looks like some of the Clinton "style" has rubbed off on the Barack Obama team!

Like slick Willy & wily Hilly before him, Barack is now rustling up campaign schemes to generate big bucks in the Washington arena.

Why not a chance-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dine with "King Tut" himself?

And, on this occasion, James Carville has been trotted out to orchestrate the fundraiser - natch - on the democrat-favored World Wide Web.

Here's a peak an e-mail invitation I just recently from the Obama camp (verbatim) to get you up-to-speed.

Dear Julian,

Just when I thought I've seen everything...

The Republicans have dragged out Newt Gingrich to headline a fundraising dinner.

President Obama and the Democratic Party are leading this country into the future.

Let the has beens and never weres in the Republican Party fight among themselves.

We want you to join us for a different kind of dinner.

No Newts allowed.

There is less than a week for your chance to win a free trip to Washington, DC on June 18th to meet President Obama, have dinner and go home with a photograph with him.

The dinner is on June 18th and the deadline to enter is less than a week away.

Enter now - the more times you give the more chances to win.

Contribute $5, $10, or more and be automatically entered for a chance to win a free trip to Washington DC to join President Obama on June 18th, and go home with a photograph with the President.

Sincerely,

James Carville

P.S. Even if you don't win coming to Washington to have dinner with the President, if you contribute $35 or more, you get a free "Proud Democrat" eco-friendly grocery tote. Act now - the deadline is less than a week away!

A tote that's eco-friendly?

Golly, you suckered me Barack, hook line & sinker.
Count me in!

Oprah, better pass on this high calorie pig-out!

Hillary Clinton...truth about the post for Secretary of State?

Barack needs s tune-up already...

Some whined and complained that the Secretary of State issue dragged on too long.

It all started with a rumor that streaked around Capitol Hill in the blink of an eye.

The Secretary of State post was being offered to Hillary, those with their ears close to the wall excitedly whispered, to anyone within earshot.

But, no one would officially confirm or deny.

Then, a couple of days later - after the buzz subsided a tad - the team for the president-elect announced the plum role in the new administration would be hers for the taking if Hillary pined for the post.

At this juncture - a game of cat-and-mouse - ensued.

Finally, amid of lot of fanfare, Hillary appeared arm-and-arm with Barack and publicly accepted the Secretary of State post.

Personally, I think a secret pact was made between the two long ago.

If you recall, Mrs. Clinton was all spit-and-fire and reluctant to throw in the towel during the presidential race, even when her staunchest supporters had given up hope.

Then, there was a mysterious "closed-door" meeting on the heels on her announcement to continue with her bid for the Oval Office, come hell or high water.

Me thinks Obama and the Democrats promised her a part in the new administration if she would throw in her pantsuit.

What say you?

But, when the final decision was made on the Secretary of State job, there was one stumbling block.

Slick Willy's murky associations overseas - and questionable financial ties with foreigners of dubious proportions - unsettled a few.

From the get-go, I expect Hillary was inclined to jump in full-throttle and utter the quip - "I'll give it the old College try" - but was held back 'til a probe of her hubby was put to bed.

Did slick Willy pass muster?

Temporarily, yes.

Even still, many voters may be inclined to wonder after the Whitewater scandal and the Monica Lewinski brouhaha, if you can teach an old dog new tricks.

Notwithstanding, there may be another reason why Obama plucked Hillary up by the bootstraps in spite of the obvious reasons for passing on her as a potential candidate.

In the wake of Prop 8 protests - and a backlash against the Black Community - it occurred to me, God forbid, that Barrack may have chosen Hillary to appease gays who have become disenchanted with him.

After all, Hillary has always savored a good rapport with the LGBT community.

Because the feisty politician is pro-gay and pro gay-marriage, many in the gay community may now be pinning their hopes on her.

Surely she''ll strong-arm Obama about the issues, once she's firmly ensconced in the corridors of power in Washington, eh?

Personally, I think it was a mistake to have chosen Hillary for a couple of reasons.

Because Hillary is part of an old regime in Washington that voters thought they were casting out when they voted for Obama, the 44th President may be in for a bumpy ride at the hands of skeptical supporters when he takes his seat in the Oval Office come January.

Worse than that, I expect that Clinton skeletons will rattle his new administration in the new year -and ultimately - cast doubts on his ability to make sound decisions.

Gosh, looks like Barack is not as savvy or smart or as sophisticated as I originally thought.

Maybe he's just a puppet and someone else is pulling the strings?

Barack Obama...to name Hillary Clinton as Secretary of State?

The big buzz around Capitol Hill today is that Barack Obama met with former Presidential hopeful - Hillary Clinton - to offer her a post in his administration as the Secretary of State.

Wild rumor or cruel joke?

Hillary Clinton...not proud of slick Willy?

Did she say orange?

Intriguing, that!

At the Democratic National Convention last night in Denver, Hillary noted in her much-anticipated speech - which tripped trillingly off the tongue - that she was a proud mother, proud Democrat, and proud American.

But, there was no mention of being a proud "wife".

Is slick Willy currently in the dog house?

Bill Clinton...foot-in-mouth disease again? Hillary to pull out!

Ah, no more hanky-panky in the White House?

Well, did slick Willy put his foot in it again or were his stunning remarks yesterday a sly attempt to ease the pain a little for Hillary as she possibly winds down her campaign?

While valiant Hillary stumped amid strident supporters who stomped for the presidential hopeful at rallies around South Dakota and Montana, the former president was holding court in another part of the state waxing poetic about his own political career.

"This may be the last day I'm ever involved in a campaign of this kind," Bill confessed in Milbank, South Dakota.

Are they going to yank the plug on 'ya, Bill?

"I thought I was out of politics," he rasped, "Till Hillary decided to run. But it has been one of the greatest honors of my life to go around and campaign for her for president."

But what about that knife in her back, eh?

According to the campaign team, as of yesterday, Hillary is still in the "rat" race.

In that event, maybe the reason Mrs. Clinton dashed from the stage yesterday was not due to a frog in her throat as alleged - but rather - to rustle up a bit of rope to hog-tie Bill, don't 'ya think?

Today, many are asking if Bill 's musings were just the old - " foot-in-the-mouth disease" - interrupting the political flow ad nauseam once again.

Or, if the wise old political owl was signaling Hillary's swan song to engender a graceful exit from the political stage?

If so, it was a hatchet job.

Abraham Lincoln once said,
“A house divided against itself cannot stand.”

Democrats...squabbling turns off voters; Slick Willy gets bad press!

Can Hillary, the "nutcracker", keep "Wild Bill" in line?

Heading into the home stretch on the campaign trail, there has been a big flap over the contentious mean-spirited behavior of Democratic hopefuls, Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. In fact, gentle slaps we witnessed earlier on in the bid for the Presidency, have turned into near lethal punches. No knock outs, yet, though.

On the Dave Letterman show - on a three-way split screen - Hillary accusingly pointed a finger at Obama and criticized him for his former "slum landlord ties", while Barack - not to be outdone - lamented that while he was trying to prevent jobs from going overseas, wily Hillary was on the payroll at Wal-Mart - reaping in questionable spoils.

Dave Letterman was squeezed into the middle panel, tossing this way 'n that, trying to act as referee and get a word in edge-wise. Hilarious skit!

Meanwhile, Slick Willy has been making the rounds on the campaign trail, much to the disgust of the pundits, the press, and many Americans.

In fact, some have labelled his actions "demeaning" and "disingenuous".

Yeah, he was grabbing the headlines alright, and casting a long shadow over Hillary's strident speeches to voters elsewhere in the country. Some argue that he is a clever conniver who is using the occasion to tout his own accomplishments in the White House!

In one ambush, as he strolled through a swarm of reporters, he stopped and accused the press of fanning the frenzied flames, exacerbating the race issue, and focusing on the dispute between himself and Hillary.

He then retorted, "Shame on you. Shame on you!"

Yeah Bill, you chastised 'em, after you put your own two cents worth in. If you felt that strongly about the issue, you would have walked on and simply uttered to all within earshot - "No Comment".

When Obama raised the issue of "Wild Bill" recklessly loose on the Nation, his hubby just shrugged and sighed, "That's him. Not me".

If she can't curb her pit bull now, what will it be like when they're back in the White House?

An operator on a Cable Car the other day joked to me, "Well, the Democrats may as well enjoy the party while it lasts. They're not going to win. All that squabbling between 'em. And, they're not even talking about the issues. Each wants to be a first. Hillary, the first woman president. Obama, the only Black man to make it into the Whitehouse."

Then, as he shifted the gears on the trolley, he cackled, "They wouldn't vote in the Jew. What makes 'em think they will vote in Obama?"

Strong words.

I wonder what a cross section of America thinks?

Obama gives Hillary a gesture!

Presidential Candidates....need sense of humor!

In recent days, Bill Clinton appeared on the Charlie Rose talk show, and was visibly agitated about comments candidates made about his hubby, Hill.

Not since the heady days of the smoking - er - blue dress...have I witnessed slick Willy so incensed over an alleged "attack".

Actually, there has been a tendency in the Presidential race over the past few weeks for candidates to be awfully touchy about silly issues; in fact, as soon as comments on the campaign trail have hit the sounding board, all of 'em have reacted ferociously - taken swipes, defended their positions - whatever.

It strikes me that the candidates are awfully sensitive, overly-so.

If you ask me - Obama, Clinton, and Edwards - have all engaged in conduct which smacks a lot of grammar school shenanigans...you know, that - "he said, she said" - kind of mentality, stuff.

Grow up, folks, you're in a Presidential Race.

Barack Obama..."that black guy running for President".

Apparently, Barack Obama showed up on voters' doorsteps back east a few days ago, to meet constituents face-to-face.

The Presidential hopeful caused quite a stir, what with the gaggle of reporters in tow - snapping away, and jotting down quotable quotes - and a team of ubiquitous security guards protecting their charge.

When one woman stepped outside and caught the tail of the hurricane, she was taken aback, to say the least.

"What's all the commotion about," she asked?

Her neighbor responded,

"It's that black guy who's running for President."

In a flash, she was elbowing her way through the throng, to get a gander at the long-shot for the next Presidential Race.

Although Obama's been racking in the big bucks, and breathing down Hillary's mercurial back in the process, the polls tell a different story.

Obama's not much of a blip on the radar screen.

Without doubt, he'll have to engage in a few clever maneuvers with the staff who man the polling stations.

For starters, he's gotta ensure that below his name, it states in bold face type, one of two things: "The Black Guy", or, in the alternative - "No relation to Osama bin Laden".

To keep confusion to a minimum, please!

Some critics argue that Obama faces a major dilemma: one candidate's on the right, another is on the left, but - he remains perched loftily above.

To many, it's evident that Obama needs to conjure up a platform based on solid, American values - one that potential supporters can relate to.

Yeah, Americans are down-to-earth folks; they're meat 'n potatoes, kind of voters.

Bottom line, the young dandy needs to find a slogan middle America can sink its teeth into.

How about,

"A chicken in every pot?"

Hillary got the voters' attention with Baby Bonds, so why not!

One of the glaring problems with the Presidential hopeful is that he doesn't push hard enough - least of all, manage to get under Clinton's skin - or that of anyone else, for that matter.

Hill treats him like a naive young lad, and for the most part, the majority of Americans think he's namby-pamby.

At a photo op in Massac County, Barack posed in front of a Superman Statue in downtown Metropolis, home of DC Comics.

What was the subliminal message supposed to be?

Once you've had black, you never go back?

Most assuredly, it would be off-base to infer any kind of "super" manhood...for obvious reasons.

For example, in the hood - when asked about Hillary Clinton - he responded with gems like - "She's tough" - that sort-of-thing.

Terms like tough, when referring to a woman, often conjure of images of the "B" word.

But clearly, Obama's too much of an Illinois gentleman, for that kind of mud-slinging.

In spite of the fact he was given the opportunity to seize the day, he wimped out!

Yeah, standing up to a woman with ****, can be pretty intimidating.

But isn't it time you came out swinging, Mr. Obama?

In today's dailies, reporters across the board criticized the Illinois Senator, for taking gentle swipes at Hillary in the night's debates.

Yup, you're no contender, Sir; you're not even close to a knock-out.

And, what about that photograph in the LA Times?

Mr. Edwards, a little fey, "this-close" and up-personal, in-the-face of opponent, Obama - well, you get the idea.

The image of the two smacked of an interracial couple, right out of West Hollywood, or more obvious environs in San Francisco, or Palm Springs.

Say, the innuendo might just land Obama some pink votes!

Speaking of votes, let's get real.

Mr. Obama, it's high time to do the math...

Although they won't openly admit it, most Afro-Americans plan to cast Obama's way in the secrecy of the polling station. Heh, he's one of their own, right?

Who's kidding, who?

But if Barack wants a fistful of votes, above and beyond that, he's got some campaigning to do.

I mean, it's pretty obvious that Mrs. Clinton will land the female vote, fair and square; and a bushel-full from some girly-men, here and there.

And, there's a bevy of votes from cronies loyal to Bill, lurking in the shadows.

So, maybe it's time to do so rat *******, as the Watergate gang would say.

Mr. Obama, announce that you're all for gay marriage.

Promise to tax the rich and give back to the poor (most Americans).

Then, give them some razzle-dazzle about affordable health care.

Promise to fix the environment.

Go one step further, tell them you're a good friend of Al Gore.

Why not offer up tax breaks for Americans who invest in our children's future by purchasing an electric car?

Of course, you've gotta get the immigrant vote; so, map out your plans to open up the "gates".

Finally, with a touch of conviction in your voice, tell 'em you'll end the ongoing War in Irag.

Quicker than you can say "oil, smoil", you'll be elected!

One piece of advice, though.

First and foremost, remember to take a nod from the Master, slick Willy; for instance, be careful what you say, and how you say it.

Essentially, leave a lot of wiggle room!

With some skillful wording, you'll be able to waffle later, if the occasion arises.

With this in mind, you may be able to muster up great triumphs, too, on the pettiest of issues.

For example, didn't you feel a ripple of admiration for Bill Clinton when he remarked - with a straight face, mind you -

"It depends on what "is", is?"

You got it, it's all semantics!

Finally, don't map out too much of your plans to the public; take a pointer from Hillary, she's a whiz at this.

To paraphrase Bill, "if they don't ask, don't tell".

Remember, electable politicians "sit on the fence".

And, work on the "image", Mr. Obama.

Somehow, try to look or sound "Presidential" - yeah, with a large "P".

A word of advice?

Americans love passionate, uplifting speeches.

And, they're really into "sequels".

If you can fathom a follow-up to - "I had a Dream" - well, you've cinched it, man.

Welcome to the Oval office, you deserved it!
