Paris Hilton...breaks up with Boy-Toy! Crass commercial plugs muddy image!

Cy Waits & Heiress Paris Hilton kaputzky?

The word out of the Paris Hilton's camp is that the pretty heiress has broken up with her promoter Boy-toy (Cy Waits).

Though cute - Paris, never date a dude who is prettier than you! - the studly Lothario was a bit of an opportunist in my estimation.

For example, when the bodacious blond sashayed out and plunked down in the hot seat on the Dave Letterman Late Show recently, the clingy heart-throb hung in the wings nearby anxious to get his mug on camera!

When Dave made a comment about his "Members Only" leather jacket, the camera turned on the young entrepreneur to reveal that he was literally squeezed into the pricey outerwear.

Uh-huh!

Too tight.

Fashionistas around the country were sneering.

Paris, you're better off without him, 'cause he was dead weight.

At this juncture, I only have one bone to pick with Ms. Hilton.

Lately, whenever she saunters out for an appearance on the talk-show circuit, she is quick to plug a product.

Paris, you're starting to sound like a huckster.

Honey, you've got more class than that.

So, stop it, eh?

And, how was your day?

Dame Edna...MAC cosmetics promotion boosting sales!

I was scurrying through the retail thoroughfare in the lower levels of the oh-so-opulent Caesar's Palace, when I glanced up and was amazed to find myself staring into the face of that bodacious babe, Dame Edna!

MAC recently launched a cosmetics promotion - starring the outrageous lady from down-under - in outlets around the country.

"The brand consists of lipstick, rouge and nail polish. Mac will feature the products until they run out," a pretty young sales woman noted when I queried her about the novel line.

Dame Edna is a popular show gal who tours regularly - known particularly for her infamous naughty chit-chats with rapt audiences during her side-splitting performances - wherever she appears on the glitzy entertainment circuit.

According to her bio, she was born Edna May Beazley in the rural city of Wagga Wagga.

Her stage career began humbly enough when she first sauntered into the glare of the spotlight on December 19th in 1955 - as Mrs. Norm Everage (just an average Australian housewife) - from Moonee Pondsa (Melbourne).

The Dame swears that the lilac-coloured hair she is known for is au naturel.
Yes, she's a blue-haired lady!

Ubiquitous diamond-studded cat-eye glasses are also her stock in trade.

She traverses the globe - kibitzing non-stop with crusty old world leaders - as she jet-sets between her luxury residences in London, Sydney, Los Angeles, Switzerland and upper crust Martha's Vineyard.

Allegedly, Dame Edna is a friend and confidante of the Queen.

Elizabeth, silly!

Now that a few of her beauty secrets are out-of-the-bag, can a juicy (insightful) tell-all be far behind?

Starbucks...troops not coming home, according to staff!

I zipped into Starbucks tonight to grab one of my favorite snacks - the breakfast sandwhich - which I am fast-becoming addicted to. Built with peppercorn bacon, very tasty!

One of the service helpers asked the elegant woman in line in front of me if she would like to buy coffee for the troops. Under their new promotion, if a customer buys 6 lbs. for the men in the trenches, he or she gets 1 lb. of java free.

"Do they actually get the coffee," she chided the starbuck's server.

Yup, the young gal nodded in the affirmative.

The woman was a curious one, though. She probed further, "Do they have coffee grinders, too?"

"Oh yes," the fast-talking saleslady responded, quick on the uptake.

"We send 'em everything."

The woman turned and gave me a disbelieving look.

My turn.

When she asked me to make a contribution, I teased her a little.

"I thought the troops were comin' home?"

"No," she replied matter of fact. "They'll be over there for a while."

Huh?

Does Starbucks have an inside scoop on things?

Do tell, Jim Donald, we're all ears.
