Britney Spears...to sashay into Nikki Beach Par-tay! "Circus Girl" the toast of Vegas!

The last time I spied Britney Spears poolside in the desert oasis was a couple of years ago when I attended the local film festival - CineVegas - at a handful of venues around town.

I was interviewing celebs on the red carpet when I happened to strike up a rapport with a couple of the local paparazzi who plied me with juicy inside tidbits about Ms. Spears.

Uh-huh!

Scandal-ridden Brit was suffering from the blues when she jetted in to town for a respite from it all that week.

"Britney is hunkered down in a Condo upstairs," one of the professional snoops confided in me.

"She's a good friend of the Hotel owner, George Maloof," he underscored, as an afterthought.

I was quite familiar with the scuttlebutt.

Ms. Spear's musical persona was in the dumper and rumors abounded that Maloof was going to sign her to a contract with the specific aim of raising up her wobbling career like a Phoenix from the ashes.

The two outgoing down-to-earth dudes were hanging out downstairs anxious to get a "money shot" before she skipped town.

"Good luck," I chuckled, as I headed off to a chic soiree I was invited to on the pool deck.

Shortly after I sauntered in, there was as definite buzz in the air.

Yup!

Although Britney made a quiet entrance into the par-tay through a side-door, the news swept through the upscale party guests quicker than the speed of lightning, that the scandal-ridden Pop Queen was in their midst!

Britney and I actually exchanged glances!

Now, her handlers have announced that Britney will be attending the Grand Opening of Nikki Beach at the newly-renovated Tropicana Hotel on the weekend, after she performs live! on stage in a much-anticipated Las Vegas concert. (which I expect will be a sell-out).

No doubt, long queues will form at the glittering Hotel on that celebrated evening, when the young DIVA makes her grand entrance into the frenzied swirl of Las Vegas social life!

Jane Lynch...star busting into stratosphere! Deserving success...

Jane Lynch rockets to success!

Jane Lynch is a tall, imposing woman in person, who commands attention.

The first time I crossed paths with the GLEE star was at the CineVegas Film Festival a couple of years ago on the frenzied red carpet for "The Rocker" premiere in the heart of the desert oasis.

Although Ms Lynch’s acting career was not soaring into the stratosphere at that time, it was evident under the intense glare of the spotlight, that the charismatic actress had that indefinable something - the “it” factor - that is a prerequisite in the topsy-turvy entertainment business.

I was also impressed by her down-to-earth unpretentious manner.

What you see, is what you get.

The actress - who has met with considerable success since then -  this year in particular - offered up some great advice for performers stomping at the bit to break into the lofty realms of stardom.

“Just ‘do’,” she responded, when I asked her to offer up a few ingredients to acting success.

“Take an acting class. Get in a play. 'Do'  as much as possible,” she stressed above all else, as a posse of reporters (who hung on every word) scribbled down the quote in their notebooks.

A couple of he paparazzi on hand - turned their searing lenses in her direction - to capture the charismatic performer on tape (and for posterity's sake, no doubt).

When I reflect on that moment, I suddenly realize, Ms. Lynch was definitely in her element and inclined to soak up the entire heady high-energy experience because she was "ready" to make her grand entrance onto the world stage.

Appearances on Saturday Night Live, and a stint on Glee, are just icing on the cake at this juncture.
She’ll be making a lasting contribution in the industry- mark my words - in the next year or two.

Couldn’t happen to a nicer person!

Talented actress honored with likeness at Madame Tussaud's!

Dennis Hopper...honored with Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame! Legal battle complicates life...

Dennis Hopper, the legendary actor who worked with screen heavyweights - Elizabeth Taylor, Rock Hudson, and James Dean in George Steven's sprawling Western saga - "Giant" - appeared frail and under-the-weather in Hollywood earlier today when he was honored with a star on the celebrated Walk of Fame.

Life is complicated at the moment for the seasoned pro, who has been a mainstay on the Hollywood film scene, for over 50 golden years.

Mr. Hopper is currently being treated for prostate cancer and is said to be terminally ill.

I reported on the nasty turn in the actor's health when he was first rushed to emergency a few months ago.

Since that time, Mr. Hopper has been receiving care at a medical facility specializing in the treatment of prostate cancer.

In the interim, his estranged wife stepped up divorce proceedings, which has placed additional mental and emotional strain on the actor ( no doubt).

Although doctors nixed efforts on the part of his former spouse to haul the ailing actor into a deposition hearing - in respect to matters pertaining to the divorce battle that has been raging on in the local courts non-stop - the physican was inclined to give a nod to the outing on Hollywood Boulevard with the ultimate aim of boosting Hopper's overall morale.

Hopper arrived just before 11:30 a.m. and was spied smiling and shaking hands with guests of note before taking his seat in front of the Egyptian Theatre.

Last year, I met Mr. Hopper on the red carpet at the CineVegas Film Festival in Las Vegas, and he was gracious enough to grant me an interview.

CineVegas Festival...Scandal! Festival goers complain Greenspuns locked out all but close friends to Murakami event!

Greenspun's pull boner on Festival Circuit...


The Murakami event slated to premiere at a "blow-out bash" at the CineVegas Film Festival - was being billed as a landmark "Art Happening" for the Festival this year - and a major coup for the Las Vegas local art scene.

However, during the course of the Las Vegas Fest there was a stink in the air; after all, it was quite evident to any fool that the Greenspuns (Mr. Greenspun is the President of CineVegas) had been up to no good.

When a member of the press and a "Royal Flush Pass" patron showed up at the CineVegas soiree at the Wynn for the Murakami "exhibition", they were summarily snubbed for no good reason.

The journalist was not permitted to enter the exhibit in spite of the fact he had a ticket in tow.

And - a "Royal Flush Pass" patron - who is supposed to be granted access to all events throughout the course of the Festival (which one pays through the nose for) was left to gaze from a distance through a glass window upstairs.

Here is how the disgruntled patron described the occasion:

"Tonight was a trip...I was with an invited member of the press..and we went to the Murakami short at the Wynn.
He was not allowed in..to see the event..and I was only allowed to view it from the second floor through the glass...no sound..no viewing.
It was another CineVegas ripoff...for me. I am pissed...yesterday I was just miffed..they embarrassed me to the T...tonight.....this royal flush pass should be flushed.
Tonight was really a private event for Greenspans and their 100 closest friends...you could not buy a ticket to it...you could not get in with a ticket. Don't ask...and be prepared to be treated like shit..we were.
The screening was a Propaganda film...tell you about that tomorrow. Can you tell I am not happy?."

I also had a bad experience with the press staff over the Murakami event which was reported in a prior post.

On the surface, the Greenspuns give the impression that they are open, caring, giving individuals.

However, quite the opposite appears to be true.

The Festival is used to promote themselves, their business, and exhalt their name in the community.

Patronage and philanthropy is one thing.

But, abuse of power - at the expense of others - is shocking, disturbing, and a menace to the public at large.

Shame on Amy and Robin Greenspun for their greedy grip on the Murakami "unveiling" - which ultimately - ruined the credibility and stature of Cinevegas on the Festival Circuit.

To many film buffs around the Nation, their disgraceful conduct amounted to uncalled-for elitism.

"An intellectual snob is someone who can listen to the William Tell Overture and not think of the Lone Ranger."
