Britney Spears...to sashay into Nikki Beach Par-tay! "Circus Girl" the toast of Vegas!

The last time I spied Britney Spears poolside in the desert oasis was a couple of years ago when I attended the local film festival - CineVegas - at a handful of venues around town.

I was interviewing celebs on the red carpet when I happened to strike up a rapport with a couple of the local paparazzi who plied me with juicy inside tidbits about Ms. Spears.

Uh-huh!

Scandal-ridden Brit was suffering from the blues when she jetted in to town for a respite from it all that week.

"Britney is hunkered down in a Condo upstairs," one of the professional snoops confided in me.

"She's a good friend of the Hotel owner, George Maloof," he underscored, as an afterthought.

I was quite familiar with the scuttlebutt.

Ms. Spear's musical persona was in the dumper and rumors abounded that Maloof was going to sign her to a contract with the specific aim of raising up her wobbling career like a Phoenix from the ashes.

The two outgoing down-to-earth dudes were hanging out downstairs anxious to get a "money shot" before she skipped town.

"Good luck," I chuckled, as I headed off to a chic soiree I was invited to on the pool deck.

Shortly after I sauntered in, there was as definite buzz in the air.

Yup!

Although Britney made a quiet entrance into the par-tay through a side-door, the news swept through the upscale party guests quicker than the speed of lightning, that the scandal-ridden Pop Queen was in their midst!

I reported on the event at the time.

By the way, I couldn't resist strolling by the vicinity where she was holding court, to get a gander myself.

OMG!

Britney and I actually exchanged glances!

Now, her handlers have announced that Britney will be attending the Grand Opening of Nikki Beach at the newly-renovated Tropicana Hotel on the weekend, after she performs live! on stage in a much-anticipated Las Vegas concert. (which I expect will be a sell-out).

No doubt, long queues will form at the glittering Hotel on that celebrated evening, when the young DIVA makes her grand entrance into the frenzied swirl of Las Vegas social life!

See 'ya there!

Britney Spears..."Circus" comes to Vegas MGM Grand! June 25th!

Just a few weeks ago, San Franciscans maneuvered their way into a frenzied packed concert hall downtown, to get an up-close and personal gander at their Pop Princess!

Although a handful of critics sniped over every little thing - from the pouty star's alleged "lacklustre" robot-like dance moves to her oh-so ho-hum wardrobe struts - the die-hard fans were not disappointed in the least.

Now, the big Britney Spears "Circus" heads into Las Vegas on the 25th of June, and lands at the MGM Grand arena.

I expect the much-anticipated Brit extravaganza will be a sell-out!

See 'ya there, eh?

Enrique Iglesias...pulls out of Britney Spears - er - tour! Diva (Latino Idol) miffed at 2nd billing!

No way, Jose!

Enrique Iglesias angrily stomped his foot, and pulled out of the Britney Spears tour late yesterday afternoon, after the Pop Diva announced to a gushing fan base that the sexy heartthrob would be hitting the road as her warm-up act.

Ooops!

Handlers noted in a terse press statement that the popular crooner was under the impression that the gig was going to be a "double-bill".

Once the disgruntled hit-maker caught wind of - what he perceived as a "step down" in his career - he was quick to cut the ties that bound him to the loopy Pop Star on a rebound in her own career daze.

What a humiliation!

And, you thought Divas only came in the female variety, eh?

Britney Spears...zooms into Castro to greet fans! ABC TV switches gears for damage control!

Bill Graham Civic Auditorium
San Francisco

The big event over the weekend in San Francisco was the free Britney Spears concert in the Castro District.

Wait a minute, wasn't the much-ballyhooed event relcoated to the Bill Graham Civic Center in downtown San Francisco?

Well, yes, in the 11th hour a decision was made by ABC brass to switch venues.

This is where it gets tricky!

Initially, ABC's "Good Morning America" cited security issues as grounds for tossing the Pop Diva's blow-out gig at the indoor location instead of in the throbbing groin of of a neighborhood affectionately referred to by the locals as "gay gulch".

But, after the word trickled back that residents of the Castro District felt "snubbed" by the last-minute Britney no-show (for dubious reasons), the suits did an about-face and attempted emergency damage control.

Uh-huh!

Suddenly, the focus was shifted to dark ominous clouds that had been rumbling overhead in recent days and - of course - cries that inclement weather might force a cancellation altogether!

The clever producers seized on the timely weather forecast to explain away their switcheroo - after-the-fact - which raised a few pretty preened eyebrows in the process.

In fact, over the weekend in the picturesque City by the Bay, a posse of gussied-up Drag Queens proceeded to poke fun at Britney in a sort-of light-hearted roast.

For example, comics at a "Britney Night Drag Show" (at a trendy watering hole South of Market) sashayed up on stage to lampoon the Diva, her propensity to slurp down mocha lattes, dangle cigarettes off the edge of a pouty lip, and play up her baby-doll demeanour for whatever reason that was blowing in the wind that day!

What a hoot!

Heklina - a local celeb (and Icon in her own right) - pointed an accusing finger at Ms. Spears in the wake of all the controversy hovering over Brit's pending arrival in fag heaven.

"This whole Castro appearance, I think, was born in some marketing room somewhere," she blabbed to everyone within earshot.

Needless to say, Brit was anxious to offer an olive branch, in view of the wagging tongues that were chirping incessantly - and not always so favorably - around the pop landscape.

Even the editors at the San Francisco Chronicle must have been miffed; after all, they published in Sunday's Edition, that Britney was performing on stage in the Castro that day.

Ooops!

ABC's announcement was issued too late to prevent a snafu!

Notwithstanding,  it is doubtful many bought their excuses, in view of the obvious.

Hasn't ABC ever facilitated the use of spritely-colored eye-catching canvas tents, when the threat of rain was expected to spoil a staged event outdoors just prior to curtain?

Needless to say, on the heels of her entertaining upbeat stage show (OMG! Brit allegedly lip-synched the tunes in spite of the fact she was indoors!), the perky pop star was inclined to zoom up to the Castro District to mingle with a gaggle of her die-hard fans in the street as she popped in-and-out-of a handful of shops on the look-out for spiffy threads to don.

In particular, Ms. Spears also made a point of slipping into one community outlet, that raises funds for A.I.D.S. research, funding, and assistance to the afflicted.

Good on you, Brit!

Bottom line, Ms. Spears saved herself from toppling over the edge of the Abyss, thankfully for her wildly supportive fans!

BritneyMania...hits streets of San Francisco! Gays burn CD's???

As I headed up Polk Street bright-and-early this morning, I spied a 6' 3" tall muscle-bound stud all dolled-up in a pink satin frock, paired with chic pricey heels, topped with a blond fright wig (a parody of you-know-who?); a bevy of bodacious boy-toys cruising merrily-along; and a line of Britney Spears fans that snaked - somewhat uniformly (with the help of the City's finest) - down-and-around several blocks as far as the naked eye could see.

About every ten minutes or so, when the queue inched forward, the thronging masses roared so loudly that the commotion could be heard a 1/4 of-a-mile-away.

Of course, the Pop Diva - Britney Spears - was about to take the stage live! in a free concert sponsored by ABC TV's popular morning talk show "Good Morning America".

However, up until curtain call, there was still some confusion about where Ms. Britney was set to alight her sexy bod!

This was evident, when I stopped to snap up a soda, and overheard two studly young guys chatting each other up.

"Just think, right now we could be in the Castro District with thousands of hotties watching the Britney Spears concert outside the Castro Theatre," one cutie chirped to his obvious lover.

Not!

Last minute, citing security issues, ABC was inclined to relocate the Spears extravaganza to the Civic Center in downtown Frisco, instead.

As I noted in a post last evening, a few of the shopkeepers on Castro Street also complained about the potential loss of business due to traffic jams (!), which may have figured into things a tad.

Post:  03/26/11

http://ijulian.blogspot.com/2011/03/britney-spearssan-francisco-concert.html

Some dim-wit actually sent me a message to inform me that the concert was cancelled; then, in the next breath noted that it had been moved to the Civic Center.

Huh?

ABC TV never cancelled the show, they simple changed the venue, for security reasons.
Needless to say, dedicated Britney-ites managed to fathom the mystery out, and ended up at the "Church" on time.

Was that God-awful stench wafting over the City by the Bay the residual effects of CD's burning all over the Castro District at the witching hour?

This morning - when I conducted a Britney Spears image search - I also spotted a couple of nasty photo shopped stills that spoke volumes.

Hell hath no fury like a Queen scorned!!!

But, for the most part, the shining multitudes who turned up this morning were nonplussed about the last-minute switcheroo.

Brit followers were elevated into the realms of ecstasy at the thought of being just an arm's-length away.

Provided they passed mustard with the burly security guards at the door.

Because City Officials were adamant that there would not be any "sleep-overs" in the squeaky-clean confines of the impressive Civic Center last night, Diva-lovers were forced to rise (maybe not shine) early to land a coveted spot in the limelight.

"I've been here since 7 o'clock," I overheard one pretty babe in Britney gear flutter to all within earshot.

There was quite a media frenzy too, as helicopters buzzed overhead non-stop to capture an aerial view of the Britney phenomenon.

Curiously, a publicity still of Billy Graham on one wall of the concert hall screamed out to the gathering throngs:

"Jesus forgives you!"

And, Britney's fans, obviously.

Britney Spears...San Francisco Concert! Castro shopkeepers complain!

When news broke that Britney Spears was slated to appear at an outdoor concert for free in the Castro District all the residents of the trendy community were ecstatic!

In spite of the obvious coupe for the City by the Bay - a handful of retailers in the area - complained that a swarm of concert-goers would overwhelm the streets, cause traffic jams, and clog a pathway to their front doors.

Imagine that!

What an absurd selfish notion!

In fact - Good Morning America (who is hosting the free event) - not only intends to broadcast the taped performance on March 29th, but also feature a jazzy "travelogue" (with the specific aim of boosting tourism in the picturesque European-style destination city).

Before all the "star dust" settles, there will be an avalanche of National exposure - not only for the LGBT community - but also for the delightful town with a truckload of charms to offer the savvy world traveller.

Scott Wiener (District 8 Supervisor) gushed to local reporters that it was thrilling day for the Castro District (in spite of the whining of the party-poopers).

"It will bring out a lot of traffic that day. It is a great promotion for San Francisco," he chirped, excitedly.

Indeed!

Unfortunately, due to alleged security issues, the concert was moved to the Civic Center.

The ABC special event will tape tomorrow, Sunday March 27th (between 12 noon and 1 p.m.), and broadcast on Tuesday, March 29th (2011).

The concert has been timed to be air in tandem with Britney's new sizzling-hot album "Femme Fatale".

See 'ya there!

Britney Spears...Castro District street gig revs up! Local fans ecstatic!

This gay old town is all-a-buzz over the sizzling news that still-sexy chanteuse - Britney Spears - will be hauling her pretty a** into the Bay area at the end of the month to entertain live! in front of the historic Art-Deco Castro Theatre.

Britney music enthusiasts are ecstatic!

In the wake of the initial scuttlebutt that floated around the blogosphere and in the mainstream media last week, all the juicy details of the Pop Star's itinerary have managed to leak out, fortunately for us nose-bodies in the biz anxious to be on top of things.

Tongues have been wagging that Brit is anxious to woo back LGBT fans who may have drifted from the fold in recent years to follow wildly popular Lady Gaga during her fall from Grace.

"Good Morning America" will play host to the concert which will be staged smack-dab in the middle of the bustling city.

Of course, Castro Street will be blocked-off, so die-hard commuters are forewarned to take heed to avoid getting caught up in a snarl of traffic on March 27th when the gig will be taped.

Britney's performance is expected to be broadcast a couple of days later on March 29th.

At press time, no estimates of the costs were forthcoming, but - just betcha - they'll be staggering!

But, generous ABC is footing the bill, so who cares?

Obviously, the suits at the Network have their eye on the ratings bonanza that lurks in the wings (and weeks) ahead.

I expect that advertisers are snapping up commercial spots right now - as I spout off at-the-mouth - to be sure they snatch up a piece of the hot-and-heavy action.
Ms. Spears will fly in to San Francisco a few days early, so she can meet-and-greet meet with a handful of local organizations - such as the "Lavender Youth Recreation and Information Center" and the ever-popular "Larkin Street Youth Services" - for starters.

That's the giving spirit, Brit!

According to organizers, a lucky few will land free tickets to the event.

I expect local Radio Stations will be involved in contest give-a-ways 'til curtain call.

See 'ya there!

Britney Spears..."Hold it against me" soars in spins! Allegations of plagerism!

Britney Spears was walking on air when her single - "Hold it against me" - was released to media outlets around the country this past week.

According to Jive Records (her label) Ms. Spears broke all records for single-day spins in recent years on the radio!

If anything, the once-troubled pop star - who nearly slid into oblivion because of a monkey or two on her back a scant year or so ago - has proved one thing.

Uh-huh!

The blond bimbo bombshell is still a force to reckon with in the music industry.

Her handlers knew that when the Diva's star-turn on GLEE scored high in the overnight ratings race.

Fans are hungry for "anything Britney".

One act is crying foul, though!

The country pop duo - the Bellamy Brothers - couldn't believe their ears when a DJ flipped the platter and they heard what they thought were familiar strains of music on the single as it blasted over the airwaves.

"Didn't we already do that," they wondered aloud to all within earshot.

Indeed!

In 1979, the Country & Western dudes scored big on the charts with a catchy lyric that went something like this:

"If I said You had a Beautiful Body, Would you hold it Against me?"

Ooops!

Just a case of deja vu?

David Bellamy shook his head in disbelief.

"If you listen to the lyrics of Spears' single "Hold it Against  me?" you'll find some major similarities.

"Our little song went No. 1 and has since become one of the defining songs of our career," he groused.

But, he stopped short of accusing the Pop Princess of plagiarising their hit.

Of course, folks familiar with show-biz legends, are keen to the fact that Groucho Marx once used a similar phrase for the punch line of a joke on the highly-rated TV quiz show "You Bet Your Life".

I guess, it is always "open season" on material that is in the public domain, eh?

Britney, you go girl!

And, how was your day?

Britney Spears...a pro on Glee set! Mellowed by love...

Familiar face returns to music circuit!

Word from the GLEE set was that Britney Spears was quite the seasoned pro when she turned up last week for rehearsals on the lot.

In fact, the cast and crew literally gushed over the high-profile celebrity who was allegedly down-to-earth and friendly to all who crossed her path.

Britney is obviously thrilled with the star-turn on the top-rated Glee - or, just maybe - a secret lover is fanning the passions in her little love next at home these days?

News at 11!

Britney Spears...to appear on Glee! Fan requests underscore popularity!

Word from an inside source is that Pop Diva - Britney Spears - will be warbling on the popular ratings-getter "Glee".

The blond bimbo babe may have her die-hard loyal fans to thank for the gig.

Producers at the studio have confirmed that Britney is the performer most requested to appear on the hit music-comedy show (and has always topped the list in that regard).

The ever-popular chanteuse is slated to roar onto the boards sometime in the not-too-distant future.

Stay posted!

Britney Spears...circus hits Vegas! Concerts September 26th thru 27th @ Mandalay Bay...

Circus bimbo babe returns to Big top!

Britney Spears and the final act of her Circus Tour splash down at Mandalay Bay this weekend much to the delight of die-hard fans!

Many are viewing the concert dates as a "comeback tour" for the once-troubled pop icon.

According to the Sun (London/U.K.):

"It is an all action, eye-melting pop spectacle which even leaves the crowd out of breath."

MTV.com - a tad critical (and stingy with rave reviews) on occasion - noted that Britney's "Circus" extravaganza was not only a sightr to behold, but the biggest show under one roof.

As for Pop Teen's  fashion get-up?

Ho-Hum!

Notwithstanding, I expect the lusty lass will play to sold-out houses.

See 'ya there!

Teen Choice Awards...Britney Spears honored for achievements! Twilight's Robert Pattinson nominated...

You know your ass is dragging on stage when the industry starts honoring you with a trophy (and a gesture to the back door) for your contributions to the Entertainment Industry.

Yup!

Britney Spears will become an official member of the over-the-hill Pop Icon gang, when she blows into the Teen Choice Awards celebration to pluck up her Ultra Choice Award for her extraordinary contributions the passing music parade.

Teen heartthrob Robert Pattinson is likely to nab the Best actor in a drama category.

In fact, Twilight and its cast rustled up the most nominations - twelve - in total.

Twilight competes with - Australia (!), Confessions of a Shopaholic, He's Just not that into you, and the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 - in the Best Romantic film genre.

In addition to Twilight, nominees for Best Drama include: Angels & Demons,The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (Brad Pitt vehicle), Obsessed, and Slumdog Millionaire (my fave choice).

The winners of the coveted awards were determined by votes that were cast online by a select sector of the pop culture realm - 13 to 19 year-old teens - natch at:

http://www.teenchoiceawards.com

The awards ceremony (taped Sunday August 9th) will be broadcast on Fox tomorrow night.

Check your local TV listings for the Teen (angst) Awards, eh?

Britney Spears...in-between sheets with Agent! Talk about protecting a meal ticket...

Is this the kind of gal a dude takes home to meet Mom, Jason?

The news flash zipped around the globe in about two seconds flat!

Britney pregnant?

Naw!

Fell flat on her tush in the midst of a high-energy gig?

Nope.

Britney has crawled between the designer sheets with her - egads - Agent?

I say, the couple that eats, works, copulates, and snoozes together, are in for big trouble in little China!

The truth?

Just betcha her Agent can't afford to lose his big meal ticket.

Why do I think that?

In a recent report of celebrity earnings, it was duly noted that Brit (boo hoo) only rustled up about a measly million or two greenbacks. last year.

No doubt Jason Trawick opted to pull out all the stops.

By slipping into the private (oh so public) perimeters of her topsy-turvy (mostly turvy) life, maybe "the suit" figures he'll be able to steer her mental & emotional selves onto a more stable nurturing landscape away from the hangers-on.

In the alternative, if the Pop Diva's career fails (flavours of the month often run out or lose favor with the fickle public) at least he'll have palimony to feather his nest somewhere down the line.

Unless Brit cries foul and uses the old "Louisiana" (home State) rule of law.

In that event, a division of property may amount to simple traditional hetero (breeder) standards.

What's yours is ours and what's mine is mine.

My advice?

Brit, settle down with a boy-toy or man-stud with no interest in the business.

And, with stacks of his own cash, naturally!

What do they say?

God bless the man that's got his own!

Amen

Judging by the bod, Jason won't be out late carousing, Brit!

AFI Dallas...Britney Spears electrifies nightlife; celebrity brings out ugly side; Father of year is...

Britney breezes into dust bowl!

As the AFI shuttle bus turned the corner, we were suddenly swept up into a thong of trussed up teens heading off to the American Airlines Stadium to catch the Britney Spears concert.

In fact, Dallas fans felt so privileged to have the charismatic star in their midst, that all stops were pulled out in a bold-faced effort to sidle up and bask a little in the glow of her celebrated light.

A ticket - whether it be for a whopping $2000 in the front-row-seat - or tagged at a paltry $150 up in the boondocks - was definitely an entree into an exclusive social set many were pining for if only for one night.

Unfortunately, a few ugly personality traits reared their head, as the scenario unfolded before me.

Ah, fame and celebrity bring out the worst in people.

For example, one AFI photographer, had been quite congenial and buddy-buddy with his fellow paparazzi (even inclined to glad-hand all the AFI staff and guests when he made his round through the Festival lounges and red carpet events each day) up 'til last evening.

When he caught wind of a chi-chi party Ms. Spears may be attending, he surreptitiously slipped out a back door so he could crash it on the sly with the specific intention of getting a jump on exclusive publicity stills.

Tsk! Tsk!

In contrast, one local sportscaster landed the glorious honor of "Father of the year in" in my eyes, when he generously gave up his ticket to ensure his 14 year-old-daughter could party it up in the Fox Network suite (center row at the high-energy concert) with her best friend as when Britney strutted her stuff on the welcoming Dallas stage.

Moi?

Well, there wasn't any intense desire to follow the madding crowd.

After all, at a party hosted by CineVegas last year, I was able to mix-and-mingle with Ms. Spears when she quietly slipped in unnoticed by fans and the paparazzi.

The classy sophisticated party-goers in attendance barely batted-an-eye and left the - at times, harried pop chanteuse - alone.

Some people have impeccable manners, you know!

Britney Spears...just a Louisiana girl fighting an unjust misdemeanor!

When I read this past week that the Britney Spears' attorney was going to fight a misdemeanor charge of driving without a valid California license - on the grounds that the Pop Icon is a Louisiana resident with a valid driver's license in that state - some bells went off in my fuzzy head!

After all, the jury in the case must now decide if Britney is a golden state transport, or still just a down-home Southern Comfort sort of gal.

First, I'll note for the record, that it is my understanding that once a licensed driver moves from one state to another, that they have ten days to notify the DMV and apply for an in-state license.

Ah, but that is where the boner - um - bone of contention lies.

Although Britney apparently started to fill out an application, she didn't follow through.

Her pappy - fresh in from the moonshine state for the contentious tar 'n feathering at the expense of the state - testified on the witness stand that she held a valid Louisiana license, alrighty.

Her legal eagle also huffed:

"She is a Louisiana girl, born there, lived there and is going back there as soon as things are straightened out here."

Oh, forgot to mention that.

The defense team has argued that she was just in Tinsel Town to sort out the legal snafus surrounding custody issues - after which - she intends to spread her - uh - wings and fly-away back home.

Maybe that's why, Britney remained at home, far from the prying eyes of the lookie-loos.

"Do you blame the girl for wanting to go back home?" lamented her attorney, emphatically pointing out to the court that the paparazzi's hot pursuit of her, was enough to unsettle any self-respecting lady.

And, if you're wondering just what kind of young lady she is, just take a gander at last week's issue of In Touch magazine.

There's a candid shot of Britney - looking for all-the-world like a hausfrau - dusting up a fury in her upscale digs.

Good therapy, I guess. Gets the cobwebs out!

In his closing statements, the prosecutor took a jibe at Britney and what he labelled her "Louisiana state of mind , in a deceitful attempt to sway the Jury.

"Every significant life event for Spears - her marriage, the birth of her children, her divorce - occurred in Los Angeles."

He overlooked one event which may be the deciding factor.

Her birth. It took place in Louisiana.

If maintaining a Louisiana license gives Britney a sense of security, I say "go girl".

Home Sweet Home...

Blogging...fame! Oddballs come out of woodwork...

A few months ago, I noted that blogging foisted me reluctantly into the spotlight.

I never expected the phenomenon; after all, my profile shot is quite miniscule compared to the rest of the content on my blog site.

Unlike many post-it folks - my blog is not a vanity site - where I am inclined to splash a rash of publicity stills of moi across poorly-designed pages screaming out the obvious.

Me! Me! Me!

In view of the fact quite a few bloggers use monikers on the Internet, and cruise anonymously about the World-Wide-Web, maybe my modus operandi jars web surfer sensibilities a tad.

Golly, it's him in the flesh. He's a real person!

Of course, from the offset, I was keen to the fact that there were thousands of blogs out there vying for public consumption.

For this reason, I always endeavoured to offer up informative posts on topical subjects, a bit of social commentary, political news, and - oh my God - a dollop of celebrity dirt!!!

On occasion I walk the line - get a little outrageous - and the sh** hits the fan.

Maybe that's why people stare.

Dude, he said what?

Uh-huh.

A psychic foretold I'd be famous one day for "telling it like it is".

Well, maybe, that prediction has come to pass.

Yeah, the truth is hard to swallow, for some.

Maybe that's why all the eyes are focused on me now.

The other night, for instance, I waltzed into a movie theatre to catch a flick.

When I strode into the lobby - all the theatre-goers went silent - and acted like there was an elephant in the room.

On occasion when I stroll through The Abbey, too, jaws drop.

One night, I overheard a woman with her back to me, wonder aloud:

"What is everyone staring - "

At that moment, she half-turned and spied me over her shoulder strolling by.

Her voice trailed off - at which point - a dazed expression swept across her face.

At CVS when I stop in for a pomegranate Tea late at night - it's the only really good thirst quencher I know of in a pinch - the staff fumble around and make fools of themselves.

When I stroll up to the counter to pay, they totally lose it!

I want to utter up a tired old expression.

"Take a picture. It lasts longer."

The paparazzi wised up to that scenario a long time ago.

If I pop into the Internet Cafe to check e-mail, curious onlookers glance at my screen, ad nauseam.

Are they seeking lay-out tips or trying to get a scoop on my next sizzling post?

Meanwhile, I pretend not to notice the bizarre behaviour.

Now, it makes sense to me why celebrities react so negatively to fans and strangers when they're are out on-the-town for a respite from it all.

If a handful become recluses, it's easy to fathom why.

At times, the way people act, 'ya feel like you're from another planet.

Britney Spears must go through he** when she ventures out.

The creepy part has started, too.

Gawkers - with stalker tendencies - tend to lurk around when I am quietly having a light snack out-of-doors.

And, a strange character with an eerie light in his eye, pays too much attention when I occasionally dash down to the library for a book or two.

I hate to be rude, but judging from his odd-ball demeanor, it appears to be a better bet to take a wide berth.

On occasion, pedestrians and shoppers stop dead in their tracks, when I alight from my car.

There he is, they seem to be saying to themselves.

How can I capitalize on this chance encounter?

Lately, I've entered a new phase of my fame, too.

I used to hear people whisper behind my back:

"Do you know who that is?"

Then, there was a new line of query after that, for about a month or two.

"Do you know how old he is?"

At that juncture, curious spectators tended to surreptitiously inch forward a bit, to scrutinize for tell-tale signs of a nip 'n tuck here and there.

Nope, I haven't had any work done.

Not yet!

I expect that phrase three of my ten minutes of fame is on the rocky horizon.

When I'm in line at Starbucks, or Gelson's, I expect I'll hear astonished musings in an entirely different vein.

"Is he still alive?"

Yup, over my dead body!!!

CineVegas Film Festival...Britney Spears, Bill Pullman attend 10th Annual celebration at Palms!

Britney Spears in more innocent days

CineVegas tossed a glittering soiree at the Palms Place Pool last night to celebrate their glorious 10th Annual Film Festival.

It was a blow-out!

Scantily-clad showgirls dazzled the well-heeled guests with mesmerizing fire displays, smartly-attired caterers offered up delectable finger foods (the pastries were divine; a zillion calories, at least!) to the high-spirited party-goers, and a popular DJ revved up the mood with an eclectic mix of scintillating sounds.

Given the high profile nature of the event, it's evident why Lifestyle's reporter Robin Leach slipped in unnoticed to take notes from the sidelines.

Dennis Hopper, meanwhile - with Fest Prez Robin Greenspun in tow - circulated the exotic pool patio and delighted film buffs with his down-to-earth accessible demeanor.

"He's so cool," one young dude gushed to his pals.

Bill Pullman - who attended a screening of his new project - "Your Name Here" - escaped my radar initially.

But when I scouted the landscape for news tidbits, I spied the casual handsome actor posing with fans for photos and streaming videos.

The Big Buzz?

Britney Spears made an entrance with little fanfare.

My new paparazzi buddies tipped me off that she jetted into town yesterday morning and was happily ensconced in a condo upstairs at the Palms. Rumors persisted that high-profile Hotelier - George Malooth - planned to take the young pop icon under his wing and launch her career in a fresh new direction.

The tony elite were pretty reserved in her presence, but a few of the guys found it difficult not to steal a glance or two in her direction (myself included).

Ms. Spears was fairly low-key, and mingled and mixed a bit, although somewhat aloof at times (unless she kicked up her heels a bit after I departed for more relaxed climbs, like a warm comfy bed!).

Wouldn't you be in her designer shoes?

After all, across town, Kevin Federline was being honored as the "Father of the Year" by Prive Nightclub at the Planet Hollywood Resort.

My shutterbug pals dashed over to cover the heart-warming event for their agency shortly after they snapped up a handful of shots they were pining for on the red carpet earlier.

Speaking of parents, Mimi Rogers appeared on the red carpet with her young daughter, Lucy.

The gracious film star was looking fabulous in a sparkly understated party dress that turned heads.

Ms. Rogers noted that she was at Paramount Studios that morning working on a couple of episodes of a popular new show and that in the next few months a few independent films she's featured in will be released as well.

When I asked her if she found the Indie projects good for exploring and experimenting with her craft, the response was a definite yes.

Her young one is quite pretty, with wide luminous eyes, and porcelain skin.

Immediately, I surmised one day she'd be modelling or pursuing an interest in ballet or dance; after all, she has the beauty and physical stature for both artistic pursuits.

Believe it or not, the likable kid wants to be a chef!

What kind of food does she like to cook?

"Italian," she responded to my querie with a touch of passion in her voice.

When I asked if she was interested in boys yet, she was a bit shy about discussing the subject. But, happily noted that her favorite celebrity is George Clooney. And, after her mother prompted her a little, she admitted that her all-time favorite actor is Cary Grant.

Ah, the young lady has great taste in men, eh?

A handful of local Vegas performers turned up to bask in the glow of the event, natch!

Nathan Burton, the magician, was thrilled that the Casino where he's performing just installed a wide-screen image on the outside of their entertainment complex, touting his dazzling Magic extravaganza which has been reeling the fans in.

Burton was inclined to tease that in the future he'll be unveiling a new segment for his show featuring 100 bodacious show girls. But, the cad was tight-lipped about the specifics.

Guess I'll have to snap up a ticket and catch one of the shows!

A number of filmmakers were making the rounds at the pool party, too. Being the great promoters that they are, many of the up-and-coming auteurs were inclined to pump hands, and excitedly chat about their projects, with the specific aim of rustling up some interest.

An engaging young director - Jonpaul Lewis - will be screening his three-minute film titled - "Jack the Ripper" - in a segment of shorts on June 17th and 18th.

The tale focuses on a suspect most historians are unfamiliar with who allegedly escaped to America.

That's all the info I can disclose, folks!

You'll have to check out the novel teaser for a proposed full-length feature, yourself!

Also, Gary Sax at Triathlon Pictures, noted that he may have a project in the works about women in sports. I'll keep you posted on that one, which appears to be marketable, in my estimation.

Three of the showgirls hired for the event were wearing what amounted to a lot of colorful paint!
A make-up artist spent about three hours adorning their nubile sentient beings with eye-catching erotic body art which left little to the imagination.

Of course, I posed the obvious question. Are you wearing a cup?

"A pastie," one of the ravishing beauties laughed.

And she confessed, it was held in place with a little bit of American magic: glue!

The ladies have worked in various shows around town and are all single, guys!

"It's hard to be married in the business'" the one dancer confided.

Hear that, Britney?

RAGE...nightclub, Sunday dance party!!! West Hollywood.

When you slip into RAGE - suddenly - you are swept up into a sea of toned sexy twenty-somethin' bods - amid a swirl of scintillating fashions - undulating to the latest pop beat.

On Sunday nights, in particular, there's a lot of high-energy, in-your-face gettin' down on the dance floor, sure to conjure up an adrenalin rush.

Maybe a handful of politicians should drop by and take a gander; after all, there's no racial tension here. Attitudes are left at the door, and a crowd of party-goers - Asians, Latinos, Blacks, and Whites - all mingle and mix for a night of sheer unadulterated fun.

Last night, there was quite a bevy of young beauties on hand - sipping on exotic cocktails, chatting up friends, and sashaying about - casting come-hither looks.

Oh yeah!

In my youth, I wiled away many an hour here; then, usually headed home blasted.

Uh-huh, they didn't call the bar on the corner - "Lost on Larrabee" - for no good reason!

Warning: the trendy crowd is prone to rush the dance floor when the likes of Britney, Justin, Madge, and Alicia pop up on the wide-screens overhead, amid a jubilant laser light show.

Get there early, no cover.

See ‘ya!
