MTV Awards...Robert Pattinson best deep-throater! Justin Bieber nabs jaw-dropper honors!

The spirits were high (at a fever pitch), the schmoozing was rife with superficial moments, and the bewitching sequel to "Twilight" once again swept Pop Culture's most coveted award!

And, there were scintillating titillating thrills, courtesy of a wayward Vampire.

For instance, when sexy Robert Pattinson was declared winner for - "Best Kiss" - he sighed that he wasn't in the mood to kiss his main squeeze of the month - at which point - he was inclined to plant a wet sloppy one on studly co-star Taylor Lautner.

Golden Boy Launtner - known for his washboard abs and impeccable pecs - was totally taken by surprise (or was he?).

Vampires don't discriminate when it comes to fresh blood, after all!

Pattinson - a respected Brit - also got the nod for "Best Actor" for his performance in the popular blood-thirsty thriller (Twilight) which took North America by storm over the past three years!

Meanwhile, Kristen Stewart - sometimes a bit press-shy - was honored for her portrayal of the lead in Twilight's "Eclipse" also.

On the heels of the announcement that the best-seller (effectively adapted for the silver screen in a trilogy) was named best flick for the third year in a row, hunky Lautner was quick on-the-uptake and gushed for the cameras and fans in attendance alike.

"The fact we're standing here is a testament to all the hard work that went into Eclipse," Lautner asserted boldy, as his co-stars nodded in agreement

Justin Bieber - pop flavor of the month - scored with fans when his project - "Never say Never" - beat out the competition for "Best Jaw-Breaking Moment".

A handful of silly award categories (Biggest Badass star?) - and a gaudy Popcorn Trophy - underscored (to moi at least) that the celebrations were all tongue-in-cheek.

In fact, one actor said it all, when he stressed what an honor it was being singled out.

"This will look very nice in my downstairs toilet," chortled Tom Felton ("Best Villain" for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part I)).

Nuff said.

'Til next year.

Robert Pattinson...puts bite on Kristen Stewart! "Promise Ring" a stunner!

The fairty-tale romance of Wills & Kate - and the much-anticipated upcoming Royal Wedding - has stirred up passionate pangs in young Lotharios around the globe.

Was that what inspired Robert Pattinson to put the bite on Kristen Stewart last night at the premiere of the hunky Brit's new flick "Water For Elephants"?

According to the paparazzi, Robert and Kristen - not only dove into a waiting limousine together after the screening - but were spied falling into each other's arms for a bit of heavy kanoodling!

Was Kristen simply rewarding Robert for giving it the old College try?

For his acting - in the new feature-length release - silly!

No doubt Pattinson's intentions are nothing short of honorable, though, when you consider this week's latest tabloid fodder.

Allegedly, the popular hearththrob - who broke into the stratosphere big time in the "Twilight" vampire franchise - wowed his pretty Miss with a pricey sparkler as a "promise" to follow through on his unwavering romantic intentions.

The sexy suitor surprised Kristen with rose-gold bling - studded with dazzling diamonds - which set Pattinson back a whopping $17,000.00.

A handler, who chose to remain anonymous, whispered on the sidelines that not only is Robert a mature young man with sincere intentions - but also, a Vampire - once-on-the-prowl and now ready to settle down with a special lady.

Is a trot down the aisle in Kristen's future?

Or, do Robert & Kristen intend to make a mad dash to City Hall - out-of-the-blue - to make it official before the prying press can catch wind of the intensifying relationship?

People's Choice Awards...kicks off New Year with glitzy bash!

While critics and academy members were gearing up for the Golden Globe Awards and the Oscars - the little people at home in their armchairs in front of the TV and below the floodlights at the local theatre - were busy rustling up their faves for the much-anticipated People's Choice Awards.

Last night, the industry turned out amidst a lot of fanfare to celebrate their choices!

Among the winners?

Jane Lynch was a shoe-in for favorite comedy actress.

But, some were surprised when Conan O'Brien edged out Big "O" and snatched up the coveted statuette for Best Talk show!

"I've been loving the new show, and we're very comfortable doing it, but I like things to evolve," he noted after graciously accepting the award.

In that event, I expect viewers may expect some transformations over the next few months, eh?

Although Johnny Depp has been in the dumper with film reviewers - in large part due to his last role in the box office flop in the big-budget fiasco - "The Tourist" - fans remained loyal.

Uh-huh!

Depp was named favorite male actor!

It was a no-brainer, of course, when "Twilight" scooped up the nod for best film category.

Don't underestimate the voting power of a gaggle of adoring giggling female fans!  No doubt Robert Pattinson's sexy screen persona boosted the ballots a tad with the teeny-bopper set.

By the way, Kristen Stewart was chosen as favorite Movie Actress.

Neil Patrick was all smiles when he strode to the podium to accept an award for his role in "How I met your Mother".

The kid's longevity in the biz has been simply amazing, hasn't it?
Katy Perry and Eninem scored big as female and male music artists respectively.

The popular People's Choice Awards were broadcast live on CBS and hosted by hilarious Queen Latifah - a heavyweight in the industry - oh yeah!

Insiders whisper that he's so shy, he'll probably invite the cast of the box-office hit on-stage, to assist with the Teen Choice duties.

What about his trainer?

Eminem just won best Rap Artist!

Twilight...Jacob takes beating! Wedding Bells for Bella! Victoria bites dust!

Jacob took a beating, Bella - in true biting-the-upper-lip acting style - wrestled with doubts about her future, Victoria's revengeful nature got the best of her, and a slew of blood-thirsty characters signaled the Pacific Northwest is a trouble spot bound to trigger a sequel or two in the Twilight series.

At around 9:45, the AMC theatre was relatively empty - but then - a steady gaggle of giggling girls suddenly dashed through the door last-minute (make-up touches in the ladies's room?) and into their seats to prime themselves for the much-ballyhooed event.

A screening of the latest sequel in the Twilight Series, of course!

Eclipse.

Once the title page for the 3rd segment in the Vampire saga sprang to life on the widescreen there was an endless stream of screaming throughout - specially when gooey-eyed fans spied their favorite characters - when they sauntered on screen into spotlight.

OMG!

These passionate twi-hards even squealed when the credits for  Taylor Launter, Kristen Stuart, and Robert Pattison crawled along at the end of the flick on a mundane black background.

Probably the biggest uproar occurred when Victoria got her comeuppance.

The applause and cackles of approval were deafening to the ears!

In this sequel, there is a big focus on what amounted to - in human terms - teen angst.

Before you could say "fashionista" - the characters began to make their entrances on screen in a truckload of designer threads - sure to be the envy of any Abercrombie & Fitch aficianado.

The Vampy fashion smorgasbord was a feast for the eyes!

But, the style went far beyond that!

In this fantastical Vampire thriller, going in for the kill, was no idle matter.

Indeed, the filmmakers have the honed the "Art of the Kill" and refined it to perfection.

This time out, "Twilight" is more violent in nature - and for this reason - took a departure from the fluffly image that went before it.

Much to the relief of die-hard fans - who have no doubt been getting testy about the proliferation of "cold hard stares" with no follow thru - Eclipse goes for the jugular.

So, just as I was about to fall asleep amidst the adoring sweet young things in the packed theatre all around me, I was jolted wide awake and managed to coast through on adrenlin rushes half-way through the picture and on to the end of the flick.

There were  quite a few impressive fight scenes where snarling wolves - vicious-looking characters, indeed - fought ferociously with a posse of half-naked studs flexing big time here-and-there about the wild terrain.

I wonder what Freud would think of this mixed imagery?

For romantic twi-hards, Edward and Bella were set in a field of flowers at one juncture, where the pretty young lovers whispered sweet-nothings and discussed plans for their upcoming wedding.

In a heart-to-heart, Bella quelled Edward's fears that his headstrong future mate, may be giving up too much for his sake.

Not!

In one touching moment, Bella succinctly spilled the beans.

"I'm doing this for me," she softly confessed in so many words.

"Eclipse" is a visually-stunning feature that mesmerizes one moment (and stupifies the next).

In the final analysis, it's a "surface" flick, that speaks volumes about a culture.

All style, and no substance, is the bite that kills Twilight's "Eclipse".

Twilight...frenzied fans swarm Theatre! The Kiss! Red carpet correction!

I stand corrected!

A few days ago when I posted a press clip on the premiere of  "Eclipse" - the 3rd Vampire tale in the ongoing saga - I referred to the glitzy unveiling  tonight at a local theatre as a Red Carpet Event.

Not!

The producers pulled the rug out from under moi!

Those sly dawgs.

In keeping with the Vampire theme, the set decorators were instructed to roll out a black carpet, instead.

Black is tres chic, after all.

All the twi-hards were issued black wrist bands - a coveted blessing - because if a fan was lovingly caressing one, it meant he or she were in like Flynn.

A  gaggle of giggling girls straining forward amidst the crush to inch along the packed queue  have adorned themselves with a riot of Twilight accessories.

Now, the die-hards wait breathlessly for a nod from the ushers.

Psssst!

Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart get intimate.

The muscle-bound actor (who plays Jacob) chuckled heartily when he was asked by an interviewer about the "kiss" that unexpectedly unfolds in a surprise storyline twist.

"We're friends, so it was a bit awkward," he noted in so many words.

"After the kiss, Kristen suddenly realized what happened," he added sheeplishly.

"Do you realize that we just kissed," she uttered in an OMG! moment.

Then, what of Edward?

The ecstatic fans at the Nokia will find out first-hand a few hours from now.

Lucky blood-suckers, all!

A Hunka-Hunka burning love!

Twilight...Vampire tent city! Fans brave elements for red carpet glamour!

In front of the Nokia Theatre bright-and-early this morning - motorists and pedestrians alike (scurrying along the bustling city streets to work) - were taken aback when they caught sight of a gaggle of shelters which had unexpectedly sprung up overnight.

Upon closer inspection the driving force behind the rag-tag settlement became crystal clear.

Bejewelled Twilight twi-hards - with tickets in hand - were queuing up for the red carpet premiere of "Eclipse" slated to unfold in all its vampy pomp and circumstance on Thursday.

Eclipse officially opens Nationwide on June 30th.

One fan was asked if they were on team Edward (Robert Pattinson) or team Jacob (Taylor Lautner).

Oh, team Jacob, of course.

"Because of his great body," she gushed.

Robert Pattinson, don't quit your day job.

Fans who lined up last year to catch the screening of "New Moon" noted that Vampire city is much-better organized this year and a lot less scary.

"It's clean. Last year, we crouched in the dirty street, and felt like homeless people."

The gathering twilight masses are not comprised of twilight campers exclusively either.

"I was surprised that so many older women (twenty-something) turned out alongside a posse of infatuated single males," one enthusiastic starry-eyed fan chirped.

Eclipse is the third edition of the Twilight series.

On Thursday night, die-hard twi-hards who remained vigilante, will be treated to up-close-and-personal interaction with the glamorous young stars of the film, and a screening of the much-anticipated Vampire thriller on the night before it officially opens Nationwide to the public.

OMG!

Guess I'll drag out my pup tent and head down that-a-ways tonight!

See 'ya there!

Glee...soundtrack tops Eclipse on charts!

As the popularity of endearing hit show "Glee" soars, so do the sales for the lastest album soundtrack, "Journey to the Regionals."

In fact, "Journey" topped Twilight's "Eclipse" on the Billboard Charts, which was a phenomenal accomplishment in my estimation.

In the battle for supremacy between two major entertainment venues - the film and television mediums - it appears that tantalizing bill-of-fare on the miniature screen is surging upwards into lofty new realms.

Or, has the trend simply been triggered by tough economic times?

Robert Pattinson...Eclipse nude scene titillates Jay Leno! Star charismatic & earthy...

Jay continues to scoop big ones!

Boyish actor at height of fame!

Fans camped out in the street for days, the actor's down-to-earth parents watched amused from the sidelines, and a talk show host - a tad more in-the-face than usual - was all over the dreamy heartthrob like flies on sh**.

And, the studio audience went positively gaga when the Twilight star trotted out on stage!

Of course, the much-anticipated interview was focused on flavor of the month, actor Robert Pattinson.

Pattinson - in elegant grey suit and chic ultra-tin tie - plunked down opposite the big-chinned Leno and wasted no time in engaging in some quick upbeat repartee.

"My father's favorite film is Jaws," he laughed.

The handsome star chuckled that his Dad often glanced over the scripts when they flew in.

His take on Twilight?

"A mixture of  Jaws and Superman."

The audience roared.

Yes, Pattinson not only gives "good interview", but has an earthy boisterous sense of humor to boot.

At one point, the cameras panned beyond the footlights and shone the spotlight on his pretty mom and proud father, who casually gazed on from the sidelines slightly amused by all the fuss.

Although the "promotional road" is tough, Pattinson was fortunate that his father kept in touch, with a round of e-mails that the star referred to as slightly traditional in some respects.

"My father always starts off his notes in a slightly formal way."

"Dear Robert," he read from one in his hand that typified that.

Pattinson, a chip off the old block, is often treated to his Dad's advice without fail.

"Kissing a lady's hand is very refined," Robert quoted from one poignant missive.

"I impressed your mother that way."

The Twilight actor sported a slightly shorter "do" than usual on the Tonight Show at NBC at the witching hour last night, and boasted a bit of fuzz around the chin that suited his dark dangerous looks.

At one juncture, Jay congratulated the English thespian on the success of his films.

Spontanteous applause rocked the packed theatre in response.

Then, after buttering up Pattinson (one of my aunties used to call it "soft-soaping when I was a kid), he dove in for the kill.

"So, there's a nude scene in Eclipse," Jay interjected in a sly effort to rustle up a reaction out-of-the-blue.

"How does your Mom feel about that," he probed further.

Without skipping a beat, Pattinson pulled a funny.

"She's seen it all before," the outgoing Brit quipped.

"But, a much smaller version," Jay was quick to wickedly joke.

On the subject of filming nude scenes on the set, Pattinson was quite flip.

"Well, they give 'ya this little robe to toss on," he recalled.

"But, the moment you take it off, the whole body starts failing."

What, no boner?

"I started convulsing," he grinned.

The scenario he depicted was quite an entertaining one which the rapt studio fans lapped up.

"Although, there were six or seven guys hanging about (they're members of the crew, Robert) - no one looked at his sexy frame- except for the camera-guy who glanced through the lens to set the shot," he noted for the record.

Suddenly, he perceived the "reverse humor" in being ignored in that moment of truth while he was "starkers" (an English term for being in your birthday suit).

"Heh, I'm sitting here naked, I want some respect," he imagined himself demanding of blase film dudes.

Interestingly, when Mr. Pattinson is not emoting (acting in a scene on the silver screen) a distinctive accent comes to the fore in his conversational voice not normally evident (or prevalent) before.

Like the Beatles before him, there is something particularly endearing about that.

Actually, Pattinson's unique persona is quite captivating, in fact.

Evidently, judging by the way jaded talk show biggies - like Jay Leno last night - gush at the golden opportunity to pick the kid's brains at the peak of a sizzling film career that continues to remain hot!

See 'ya June 30th at the screening of Eclipse!

Twitter...over capacity for 2 hours! Boo Hoo! No tweet on Pattison cock tease!

Gosh, it's been two long-drawn-out testy hours, and still no Tweetville in sight!

According to a web site dialogue box at twitter, the popular social hub is over capacity.

And, thus, I have not been able to tweet juicy gossip about Robert Pattinson the cock tease!

Or, get the jump on Twilight's exciting plot twist in Eclipse.

Oh, well.

News at 11 (in the traditional forum)!

Robert Pattinson...a cock tease! Prenuptials, please! Twilight character pops question!

Twilight hunk Robert Pattinson confessed that his character will pop the question to Bella in the upcoming sequel.

However, the sexy actor was tight-lipped about all the delicious romantic details.

On the subject of a potential mate in his own future, Pattinson was quick on the uptake.

"There would have to be a prenuptial," he chuckled mischievously.

Something tells me, the Brit - like Hugh Grant - is the type to slip in-between the sheets and skip the formalities (and co-habitate in "sin").

As to the "swoon" factor, Pattinson confided to one probing reporter recently, that the film's success is due to the fact the romantic dramas are sexy "without showing a lot of actual sex."

Fans pine for that moment before sex and the tipping point before it goes over, Pattinson slyly asserted.

"I mean, everybody likes that. That's the best part, for a relationship."

Robert, when I was a horny teen dude in the throes of out-of-control raging hormones, that's what us guys used to refer to as a "cock" tease.

By the way, according to insiders, Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's may throw sexual caution to the wind, and dive in to test the passionate erotic waters in Eclipse.

The much-anticipated sequel is slated for wide-screen release on June 30th.

MTV Movie Awards...wild & woolly! Sandra Bullock lipstick lesbo kiss! Vampires score big!

The poor man's Julia Roberts!

The MTV Movie Awards were - wild and woolly, prone to lapses of judgment, rife with high-spirited hi-jinks - even poignant at times.

A lipstick lesbian, the alter-ego of Tom Cruise (in a show-stopping dance routine with Jennifer Lopez prettying up the theatrical terrain), and a bobbing Mark Wahlberg loose-as-a-goose caused tongues to wag at water coolers around the country the next day.

The racy ribald humor and streak of rat-a-tat expletives (for the most part nipped in the bud by quick thinking censors - except for a zinger or two - that broke through the shackles intended to harness them) didn’t surprise many.

What do you expect from a network hell-bent on churning out hip edgy hip material to satiate the robust free-wheeling organic tastes of their enviable demographic.

Hands down, MTV gets the nod for hustling up a smattering of precious television moments, that the competition will be struggling to match 'til network television doomsday.

Just around the corner, I expect.

Today, it was no surprise, then - to happen across a news clip in one of the morning papers - which reported that MTV was inclined to apologize for the raunchy material that splashed out over the airwaves non-stop to the delight of rapt viewers.

Ho-Hum.

Business as usual.

In true Hollywood style, the brass at MTV milked the much-anticipated musical extravaganza, for all it was worth.

To entice Sandra Bullock out-of-hiding, for example, the suits created a special Movie Award sure to drum up a ratings blockbuster if the scandal-ridden gal graced the stage with her presence.

Unfortunately, opportunistic starlets - like Scarlett Johansson - seized on the moment to thrust themselves into the glare of the spotlight.

In one of those awkward - you had to be there off-the-wall moments - the lipstick lesbo strode up to the stage begging for a kiss.

Say what?

Talk about queer!

Good sport that she is, Sandra plunked a deep one (somewhat reminiscent of the tongue probe that Al Gore surprised Tipper with) on her pouty lips.

Yeah, a real gagger.

That out of the way, Sandra uttered up one of the sanest sentiments of the night.

“Can we get back to normal now?”

When Tom Cruise gyrated on stage - with shaved head and bizarre wardrobe get-up - many anticipated another golden “couch” moment in spite of the fact Oprah was nowhere in sight.

Surprise!

The former mega-star - struggling for credibility in Tinsel-town after he slipped through the cracks in recent days for head-shaking screwball antics - pulled off an entertaining performance with a slightly out-of-character Jennifer Lopez at his side.

Wonders never cease.

The show continued at a dizzying pace - jokes jolted, fizzled, titillated, struck a chord or didn’t - go figure!

Uh-huh!

The smorgasbord of visual and audio delights was nothing short of a zany parade, with something for everyone, amidst a zoo-like atmosphere that stuck to the wall.

But, the big winner of the night was Twilight.

The sequel - Eclipse - nabbed 5  trophies - to the delight of fans who went wild at the mere mention of their cult hit!

Yes, the Vampire genre continues to propel the industry forward.

For MTV, it's a good marriage with  the Twilight franchise.

Both, will suck the life out of you, if you let ‘em.

Robert Pattinson...Madame Tussaud's wax figure life-like! Fans ecstatic...

Today, the wax museum unvieled their spanking new likeness of Twilight star, Robert Pattinson.

Gosh, what a well-tooled piece of work!

The sculpture ain't bad, either.

I expect fans will be dashing off to catch the celebrity attraction at Madame Tussaud's in the heart of New York City (Times Square).

The figure took four hours to craft at a staggering cost of $220,000.

The wax dummy features the Twilight heart-throb with infamous "do" and outfitted in a casual stylish ensemble consisting of a chic t-shirt open at the collar and skinny straight-legged trousers.

No, Mom jeans for the Twilight hunk, dudes!

By the way, Tussaud's has no qualms about ticket-holders touching their celebrity look-a-likes.

So, if you're inclined to plant a big kiss on his pretty face - or run your fingers through his lustrous locks -  you go girls (and boys!).

See 'ya there!

Twilight...Gus Van Sant or Sophia Coppola to direct final chapter? Heart-throb sought...

Vampires?
(I could milk that one dry)

Word out of the Twilight camp at Summit is that the money men are flaunting untold riches at Gus Van Sant (Good Will Hunting) and Sophia Coppola (Daddy's talented girl) to helm the final chapter of Twilight.

Well, as final as final is, by Hollywood standards - that is!

Whispers abound that the last book to be adapated for the silver screen may end up a cliff-hanging two-parter.

Needless to say, an Oscar Award-winning director is bound to scout down their own talent for any high-profile project they are inclined to undertake, like it or not.

Hence, the rumor, that producers are anxious to put the bite on an exciting up-and-coming heart-throb to raise the stakes (and blood pressure of frenzied fans) a tad.

Or, was the dismal opening of - "Remember Me" - a death knell for sexy Robert Pattinson?

News at 11!

Robert Pattinson...Remember Me forgettable! Twilight star sexy & Pierce Brosnan excellent...

In the film - Remember Me - Robert Pattinson's character (swoon) quotes Gandhi.

"Whatever you do in life will be insignificant. But, you have to do it."

Unfortunately, in one respect, I don't believe that is true.

There are many individuals who will will achieve something significant in their lifetime.

That's why the Almighty brought them into the world to walk the face of this mortal coil.

On the other hand, it may be true that nothing significant was accomplished in the afore-mentioned feature film, starring a popular heart-throb (Twilight actor Pattinson) and former night-time TV series actor (Pierce Brosnan).

In view of that, and for good reason, it may have been more prudent to have shelfed the script with the aim of mining fresher territory.

Remember Me is not all bad, though. Just mostly.

It is difficult, for instance, to imagine that the puzzle-like melodramas that dove-tailed so neatly as they unfolded on the silver screen were ever based in reality (so far-fetched and ludicrous are the notions that stretch out in a sticky cobweb everywhere ensnaring all within its treacherous reach).

However, there are moments when the drama sparks with such intensity that the filmgoer can't help but be drawn in.

In those scenes - both Brosnan and Pattinson - managed to stretch their acting muscles admirably.

Were these scenes just a fluke, or did the overall impact of the message (and credibility of the potboiler) falter because of a lack of talent on the part of the scriptwriter (or was it a case of too many cooks spoiling the broth)?

In a nutshell, too ambitious!

If the producers had trimmed the fat, Remember Me, might have been a love story (on a myriad of insightful levels) that was fondly worth recalling.

Instead, the memory will go out with the morning trash.

The eye-candy factor played well, though.

Not surprisingly, single women dashed into the theatre (almost breathless) anxious to plunk down in their comfy seats for an up-close-and-personal rendez-vous with their flavor of the month.

Pattinson didn't disappoint.

The carefully-selected wardrobe lent an air of danger - but not so much so - that pubescent young girls (the foundation of his fan base) felt threatened.

In Remember Me, fans will have to grapple with a bad-boy persona, though.

Yeah, the dude smokes like a chimney, swigs the ale down like a drunken sailor, and dives in for unprotected sex without nary a thought.

I wonder if his dance card is full this weekend?

Yup!

Guys eat him up, too.

Something about rough trade, I guess!

By the way, there is a twist at the end, which will send you for a loop.

Ah, life's ironies.

In the final analysis, Remember Me is a Greek tragedy, lifted from the history books.

heart-throb cleans up yummy!

People's Choice Awards...Ashton Kutcher web celeb! Johnny Depp, Lady Gaga & Twilight nab top nods...

Demi's boy-toy darling of the web set!

The Lady tramples the competition!

Johnny Depp was astonishingly hailed best Actor of the Decade, ubiquitous Lady Gaga music breakout artist (Pop Artist, too) and Twilight - natch - was given a high-five for best-loved movie by the films biggest die-hard fans otherwise known as "the people".

Ashton Kutcher - that clever cad - nabbed Web Celebrity honors!

After that stint on twitter with Ted Turner & CNN, no wonder, dudes!

The kid's got balls.

Um, do 'ya figure, that's why Demi jumps between the silk sheets with the studly actor?

Rule No. 1, if a performer is hankering to succeed in the entertainment "biz", talent isn't always a sure-fire way to land smack dab in the glare of the spotlight.

No, sir!

Charisma, looks - and that something known as the "it' quality - are so much-more important in the grand scheme of things!

So, to hell with the critics, eh?

Julian Ayrs 2nd Annual Worst & Best-Dressed Men (2009)...Adam Lambert, TMZ cub reporters, Barack Obama! Style, it's that...

Mr. Blackwell infamous for fashion haikus

Last year, when Obama was triapsing about on the campaign trail - vigorously pursuing the role of Commander-in-Chief - I penned a post with a handful of fashion tips so the upstart from Chicago would cut a fine sartorial path for potential supporters.

A blogger stumbled across the fashion spread, and hinted to his readers, that I just might be the fashion wit, to fill the shoes of legendary Mr. Blackwell.

Blackwell - formerly a well-respected fashion designer - was King of the Haiku quips - so when he passed to spirit last year there was a cavernous tongue-in-check void to fill.

So, I took up the delightful task and and unveiled my 1st Annual Worst and Best-Dressed lists for Women and Men at the end of the year.

Can it really be a year later since the first platform shoe dropped with a thud?

Yup!.

So, yesterday, I posted my 2nd Annual Best and Worst-Dressed list for Women - Cher, Sarah Palin, and Pop Icon Lady Gaga (in a special category) - among 'em.

Post:  12/31/08

http://ijulian.blogspot.com/2009/12/julian-ayrs-2nd-annual-worst-best_6091.html

Today, I offer up my 2nd Annual list of Best and Worst-Dressed list, featuring the man-about-town who often curried favor (and the down-on-their scruffy heels dudes who did not)).

10 Best Dressed

Adam Lambert

Adma Lambert is a Peacock in heat!

When he struts on stage - his electric persona charges the stadium - for starters.

A large part of the performer's appeal is a collection of rags that not only screams out sex! and sensuality! but a distinctive ahead-of-the pack unique style that's difficult to resist.

I expect there'll be an eclectic line of high-end T-shirts on the horizon that will be snapped up by die-hard fans and dedicated followers of American Ido, to boot.

Bill Hemmer

One of the few men that manages to look sexy in specs!

Maybe it's that sensitive mug behind 'em that grabs, 'ya.

Notwithstanding, the well-heeled anchor turns heads for other reasons, too.

Bill dons tastefully-tailored suits and sporcoats - and unlike many male animals of the species - manages to select ties and accessories that match up smartly.

Wouldn't kick him out of bed for eating crackers, would you?

Nick Lachey

Nick has the dark looks that the dames go wild over and the kind of fashion savvy that makes his contemporaries green with envy.

Although he is particularly studly and handsome in pricey designer suits with fashion accessories like - elegant ties and quality belts with tasteful shoes that round out the ensemble - he is also able to saunter into a no-man's land where other dudes should not venture ever.

Above, he smartly teams a light-colored patterned jacket with a pale dress shirt, for a look that is decidedly carefree and dapper.

Jimmy Smitts

Years ago, when I was blessed with a regular part-time gig on LA LAW, I always marvelled at how smart the male characters were turned out on the set.

Of course, all the appealing actors - Harry Hamlin, Jimmy Smitts, Blair Underwood - were fortunate to have a wardrobe crew with great taste working feverishly on their behalf behind-the-scenes and (at the time) a major studio behind 'em with bottomless pockets to jazz up the image of the popular hit show.

But, Jimmy Smitts has never been a slouch in the "style" department.

Over the years, he has always cut a fine swath, in his high-profile career.

His choices run the gamut -  but ultimately - he's fully aware of his true assets.

Therefore, Smitts is inclined to snatch up designer suits that accent his dark good looks, imposing frame, and outgoing personality.

Brad Pitt

Clothed (or not) Brad Pitt is the kind of eye-candy that appeals across the board - to women and men - alike.

Don't 'ya hate him?

Whatever the latest fashion trend, he's capable of tossing it on his buffed silhouette without much thought, and come up the stylish winner.

Whether he's in an expensive tailored suit at a private viewing at the local art gallery, or tooling around town in casual duds doing chores, Pitt always exudes a great fashion sense for that particular moment.

Like a bottle of wine, Pitt is getting better with age, too!

Barack Obama

The caption reads "Dress like a Winner".

And, it's obvious to many, that Barack Obama - at this stage of the political and social game - is one!

Especially, when it comes to sartorial spendour.

Barack has an  enviable closet-full of suits, fancy-dress shirts, and elegant ties sure to keep the local drycleaner busy.

Although his bicycle garb appears a little goofy to some - to me - it's part of his charm.

If anything, it underscores the man's confidence, too.

In the final analyis?

It's style - not the clothes - that make the man!

Brian Williams

When it comes to style, it's the subtle details, that matter.

Brian Williams is a prime example of a man-about-town with an eye for fashion sensibilities.

Check out his wardrobe pictured above.

Just the right amount of cuff is showing at the arm of his suit jacket.

And, of course, the collar is not only pressed to perfection, but also provides the perfect frame for his correctly-knotted (tastefully-pattterned tie).

Kudos, Brian!

Prince Charles

Take a gander at Prince Charles and it's obvious right-off-the-bat that the man is a clotheshorse.

When it comes to suits, in particular, he's strictly Saville Row.

Just betcha Camilla would be hard-pressed to find a tacky boldly-pattered cravat on his tie rack.

Pocket handkerchiefs are a subtle touch that underscore a man's attentiion to detail - and, of course - draw  attention to fashion savvy.

The man who-would-be King has it in spades!

Viggo Mortensen

Viggo has appeared in a dozen or so screen projects which run the gamut - from gangster films and fantasy bill-of-fare - to romantic thrillers.

Consequently, he's sported a multitude of fashion attitudes that have tended to suit the handsome leading man.

Recently, at a screening of the "The Road", I was thrilled to get an up-close take on the talented actor.

Unlike many spoiled movie stars who turn up in jeans and sloppy t-shirts with baseball caps askew to one side, Viggo displayed a remarkable sense of style.

The tailored dress slacks - and designer sport coat teamed with a chic pullover - was a breath of fresh fashion flair that turned heads.

A litlte bit of star quality didn't hurt, either.

David Beckham

I suppose you could say that Becks is the best-dressed undressed man!

Right down to his sexy skivvies - straining at the seams in all directions - the man's discerning taste is totally cock-sure.

With Pop Diva Victoria (Posh Girl) on his arm, on a night on the town, he usually puts in an electric appearance that is none too shabby, either.

Becks is especially manly - and charismatic - in high-end suits by Italian designers with a smattering of accessories that excite and delight the fashion senses.

10 Worst-Dressed List

Jon Gosselin

Is Jon Gosselin with child?

If not, what's with the loose-fitting mu-mu?

I expect those baubbles at his neck are worry beads.

If my image was down the dumper, I'd be say a few Holy Mary's, too.

With all the big bucks reality TV has tossed his way, Jon should try to conjure up a new image, with the help of a handful of Hollywood's top make-over wizards.

A jog along the trendy trail at the Beverly Hills flats is worth considering.

Who knows, maybe he'll hook up with a socialite, with an eye for the glare of the spotlight (and torrid scandals).

Howie Mandell

If you didn't recognize the "Deal or No Deal" TV Host, you might mistake him for ther Maytag repair man in that loopy leather (OMG) cap and polyester "one-size-fits-all" overshirt.

Meanwhile, that scraggly fringe on his chinny-chin-chin, is a wild-'n-scary  discombobulated mess to beat the band!

And, the clashing earring (what were you thinking?) says it all:

Fashion faux pas!

TMZ Cub  Reporters

On the gossip trail under the cover of dark, it's a-okay to downplay a splasy entrance,  and hide the bling.

But, on a Nationally-televised hit show?

Do the cub reporters on TMZ really have such little fashion sense?

Max, for example, flip-flops from show-to-show - passable duds on one broadcast one night - unsightly pukey mis-matches (like the off-color plaid number he chucked on buttoned up to the neck) the next.

Recently, Harvey Levin and one of his top-notch gossip spies,  admitted to sharing t's.

Is the budget on the show that strapped, or does just about anything blow?

Heh, Harv, find a sponsor to outfit the kids.

They're a sight for sore eyes, 'ya know?

James Caan

Judging by the wacko expression on Caan's face, I expect the sculptured collar tips featured above, are considered kind of nifty to the former heavyweight actor of yesteryear.

Notwithstanding that glaring gaffe in fashion protocol, it's obvious the freckled-faced  firecracker doesn't bother to pass himself before a mirror before exiting the front door.

If he did meet the challenge, just maybe, he'd notice that his lapels are spreading wide and the jacket is pullling at the shoulders.

What does that hint at Vegas hotshot?

Your jacket is too small!

Instead of reaching for the booze, James, why  not drop into a local haberdashery and get outfitted for the
New Year?

If anything, you'll be stimulating the economy!

Simon Cowell

Didn't bare hairy chests go out with Italian gigolos back in the sixties?

Ah yes, the Roman Spring of Mr. Cowell.

Does the American Idol afficionado think that this fashion disaster cuts it in tony Tinsel-town?

So, you think you can dress, eh?

Not.
Ron Howard

Opie, I love 'ya, but the grizzly- man look has worn a little thin

And, the bland polyester windbreaker screams out over-the-hill gang!

If you're inclined to shuffle around like a bag man, at least pamper your skin a little, for your wife's sake.

It's screaming for moisturizer, dummy!

Otherwise, in two seconds flat, you'll be given Clint Eastwood a run for his wrinkles.

Robert Pattinson

Handsome is as handsome does, alright.

Yeah, the heartbreak kid hhas  got the looks and a smattering of that special "something" often referred to as the "it" quality.

But, Robert, you look like an unmade bed!

Hook up with "Details" or "GQ"; they'll set things right.

In the meantime, a little pressing (or hair-combing) wouldn't hurt.

Bob Dylan

It was tough going.

In fact, I nearly posted legendary folk singer - Bob Dylan  - on the worst-dressed women's list!

Ah, the scarf  pictured here is a subtle reminder of his checkered past!

Yes, I get a bit nostalgic for those heady bohemian (unisex) days, too.

Donald Trump

I imagine when you meet Mr. Trump in person that he smells of bar soap and stale hairspray.

So, the stuffy suits - and over-the-top accessories he sports  ad nauseam - only add to the fashion victim's snake charm.

In fact, didn't Trump inspire the phrase  "Sharkskin Suit"?

The golden rule in business and finance is to "Dress for Success".

So, "The "Donald" opted to trump 'em all, and "Dress for Excess".

If clothes make the man, Mr. Trump is a boyscout.

Jonas Brothers

Not one, but three fashion victims.

Bad taste must run in the Jonas family.

There are a multitude of fashion faux pas here - buttons that pull too tight at the jacket, a riot of colors that clash, pant legs that drag the floorboards - you name it.

Maybe they should re-title their band "The Three Stooges'.

Since a couple of the boys have their sleeves rolled up, I suggest they get to work on their fashion persona; after all, it's sagging miserably.

Bottom line, it's not cool to be out of the fashion loop (on the teeny-bopper scene, for starters).

As they say in Show Business, that's all folks!

'Til next year, be well, eh?
