Kendra Show...Eddy comes out! Gay is OK!

Were fans of the Kendra reality show going to be thrust onto a roller-coaster ride of emotions last night - alongside Eddy - once he opened up his yap and confided to his parents that he was gay?

As it turned out - no!

There were a truckload of anxiousnail-biting moments lurking in the wings, however.

The first scenes of the entertaining reality show unfolded innocently enough.

When Kendra dropped Eddy off at the home of his parents for a previously-arranged dinner date in the sedate suburbs - the thought of "coming out" at long last - wasn't necessarily on the top of his "to do" list.

When push came to shove (wrong choice of phrases perhaps?) - an old Greek proverb must have jumped into Eddy's mind for some inexplicable reason - though.

Carpe Diem.

Roughly translated?

Seize the day!

Eddy gushed to Kendra later in the evening - after he "came out" successfully -  that a serious case of the willies just about blew it on each occasion the opportunity arose to blurt out the truth about his sexual orientation to his parents.

For example, in one heart-to-heart - when his Mom asked him if he'd met anyone special - instead of jumping in like a dirty shirt - he passed on the opportunity to open the flood gates.

I suspect that when Kendra's outgoing pal hesitated a bit during the course of the low-key conversation with his mother - that his loss for words now-and-then - signalled that something was up to the intuitive woman.

You know what they say.

A mother always knows!

The producers heightened the drama somewhat for the viewers at home (tugged at their heart strings) by facilitating a couple of potent story-telling devices that succeeded in setting up a cliff-hanger that was tough to turn away from.

It packed a wallop, alright.

Instead of cutting-to-the-chase after the initial ground work was laid out, for instance, the surprising plot twist

When Eddy finally blurted out that he was gay , for instance, there was a dramatic pause as the skilled camera-man panned around to capture a reaction shot that was priceless.

The earth literally stood still for a moment or two before she uttered up her response calmly.

"We knew, dear," she confided tenderly.

Funny that!

Why is that the individual "coming out" is always the last to know?

At this juncture, Kendra and Eddy trotted off to the Fiesta Cantina for an exotic drinkie-pooh to celebrate "out-ness".

In episode two, I expect Eddy jets off to New York City to rustle up a sugar daddy.

Do I see a sequel to "Midnight Cowboy" far off on the silver screen?

Stay tuned!

Ricky Martin...gay! Twitter mixed reactions hilarious, touching, surprising...

Ricky Martin's announcement on his Official Web site (and by way of tweet) that he is "gay" - triggered a lot of frenzied commentary on Twitter this afternoon - that ranged from congratulatory to downright hilarious.

One tweeter quipped:

"OMG!  Ricky Martin has a blog?"

Another tweeter chuckled:

"We knew, dude. Thanks."

On the humorous side, a handful of tweets were so precious, I just had to pass 'em along!

"I thought he was a ladies man. Now he's a man's man," another posted with an obvious smirk on their face.

One of my favorites?

"Ricky Martin admits he's fabulous! You go, girl."

It was a bummer (wrong choice of words?) for others with a crush on the Pop star.

"When my friend on facebook heard the news she was heartbroken."

What rock has she been hiding under for the last decade?

Some were in the dark, I guess.

"Whether it was obvious or not, it still took courage to come out," asserted another.

But, those folks appeared to be in the minority, judging by the comments posted.

"How many people actually thought he was straight?"

"We we supposed to think he was straight?"

Others congratulated Ricky for busting out of the closet.

"Welcome to the club!"

"Ricky Martin came out of the closet. #abouttime."

Some were playful!

"Shock news! Ricky Martin not pretending to be gay – he really is gay!"

"Ricky Martin has come out of the closet? Shocker... Who saw that coming?"

A handful sighed and wondered what the fuss was all about.

"Ricky Martin is trending. Is he still considered a celeb?"

In restrospect, it appears that a large percentage of music-lovers (Joe public, too) knew that Ricky was gay and that he was trying to hide the fact.

Ricky appeared to be one of the lone few who didn't have a clue about the fact that most folks have been keenly aware of his sexual preference for years.

Talk about a pink elephant in the room!

The end scenario?

Ricky rides off into the sunset with Prince Charming.

Or, hooks-up with a tattoo artist from Silver Lake!

Post: Ricky Martin gay!

Ricky Martin...admits he's gay! Pop Singer says he's a "Fortunate Homosexual Man"...

Frolics on the beach with studly dudes raised suspicions!

After years of skirting around the issue - and in spite of adopting two adorable young children with no visible main squeeze in sight  - sexy Pop Icon Ricky Martin continued to remain mum about his sexual persuasion.

Last week, when I penned a post on the subject of interviews, I noted that years ago Walters put Ricky on the "hot seat" when - at the height of his poplularity in the glare of the spotlight - she pointedly quizzed:

"Ricky, are you gay?"

In my own post, I noted that Ricky's awkward silence - and refusal to cough up an answer - "said it all" - in the eyes of millions of viewers (and die-hard fans) watching on the edge-of-their-seats at home.

Years ago, when I was working on General Hospital one day as an actor (Ricky had a role on the daily soap for a short stint) I overheard Ricky whispering sweet nothings to a male pal in the green room.

So, I've known that he was a closeted homosexual man for years!

Today, the handsome performer (formerly of Menudo) announced to the world on his official web site - that he is indeed - "gay".

"I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man," Ricky said.

"I am very blessed to be who I am.".

Ricky said writing his memoir and thinking about his two twin sons led him to go public.

"To keep living as I did up until today would be to indirectly diminish the glow that my kids were born with. Enough is enough. This has to change. This was not supposed to happen 5 or 10 years ago, it is supposed to happen now. Today is my day, this is my time, and this is my moment," he wrote.

"These years in silence and reflection made me stronger and reminded me that acceptance has to come from within and that this kind of truth gives me the power to conquer emotions I didn't even know existed," he continued.

"What will happen from now on? It doesn't matter. I can only focus on what's happening to me in this moment. The word "happiness" takes on a new meaning for me as of today. It has been a very intense process. Every word that I write in this letter is born out of love, acceptance, detachment and real contentment. Writing this is a solid step towards my inner peace and vital part of my evolution."

Walters fessed up about the "error of her ways" just recently.

"In 2000, I pushed Ricky Martin very hard to admit if he was gay or not, and the way he refused to do it made everyone decide that he was," she told The Toronto Star.

"A lot of people say that destroyed his career, and when I think back on it now, I feel it was an inappropriate question.".

Ricky also alerted followers on "Twitter" about his decision to  officially "come out".

The bombshell tweet was simpled titled: "my life".

In anticipation of the big step forward - to break the ice a tad? - Ricky was inclined to post another tweet a couple of days earlier which should have signaled to many what was on the horizon.

"Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter. M.L.K.Jr.," he wrote.

The initials - M.L.K.Jr. - refer to Martin Luther King, Jr.

Ricky a proud pappa!

"Don't Ask - Don't Tell"...Soldiers have right to shower free of intrusion! Policy changes...

The battle rages on - not on the front - but in the locker rooms on military bases around the globe.

Once again, the Government was pressured to re-visit the controversial - "Don't Ask - Don't Tell" - policy which has rankled many in the ranks from day one.

Under the current rule of Law, originally enacted during the Clinton Administration, Military officers are barred from asking service members about their sexual orientation (or trying to determine it by dubious means).

Likewise, the Military's charges are required by law to keep their sexual orienation to themselves (not flaunt it or openly practice their sexual preference on base).

Although Barack Obama made a promise to take a second look at the policy on the campaign trail - with the aim of ending an on-the-fence "wish-washy" concept (typical of Bill Clinton) many found ludicrous - the President has stopped short of fulfilling it.

This past week, the Government appeared to be going in that direction, when the Department of Defense implemented stricter guidelines in respect to the thorny issue of discharging gay and lesbian soldiers under the "Don't Ask - Don't Tell" policy.

In a nutshell, the changes (effective immediately) raise the standard for charging that someone is gay.

Now, only Generals have the authority to approve discharges.

Insiders note that the revisions are basically a "stop gap" measure designed to maintain the status quo until Congress has the opportunity to debate whether the "Don't Ask - Don't Tell" law (instituted in 1993) should be repealed.

In recent days, some officers (who spoke anonymously for fear of retaliation) complained that if an officer didn't "like you" - a rumor might be launched with military-style precision - with the ultiimate aim of ousting the "accused" unjustly.

Under the new guidelines, clandestine accusations from the shadows, would not hold any water.

Someone who charges that a service member is gay or lesbian must  now testify under oath.

Only an officer can begin an investigation, lead one, and dismiss a service member if it is determined the allegations are true.

Under the old policy, Homosexuality (for either sex) was defined as "demonstrating a propensity or intent to engage in homosexual acts."

Now, the law stipulates that "the love that once dare not speak its name" arises from "engaging in or attempting to engage in a homosexual act or acts" or a statement by the individual that he or she is gay.

The changes apply to all "open cases" currently under review, too.

Since "Don't ask - Don't tell" went into effect military records reflect that thirteen-thousand members have left service.

"I believe these changes represent an important improvement in the way the current law is put into practice - above all - by providing a greater measure of common sense and common decency to a process for handling what are difficult and complex issues for all involved, " defense secretary Robert Gates asserted in a press conference on Friday.

Of course, the logistics of co-habitation - on the base and in the trenches - remains a touchy one for all military personnel.

Straight soliders complain about the prospect of having to share quarters with a homosexual.

And, likewise, have been quite vocal about their reluctance to shower with a soldier who is a sexually active gay man or woman.

Personally, I am inclined to take sides with the heterosexual soldiers when it comes to the issue of the body politic.

If I was a blond bimbo babe in uniform, I wouldn't warm up to the idea of showering with a bull dyke, for obvious reasons.

A straight solder also has a right to shower in privacy (or alongside a fellow straight dude) without fear that some gay guy is surreptiously stealing glances at his naked studly bod.

The situation is comparable to straight guys who constantly "cop feels" with women they're attracted to.

It's common sense!

If a male employee in a company in anywhere (USA) kept ogling the "boobs" of a secretary at the water cooler, he'd be brought up on charges of sexual harassment (I dare say!).

The critics who chuckle that straight soldiers need to "grow up" are the ones that are missing the point.

Even the military appears to hold the view that I do, when you consider the fact that an official put forth the notion that housing arrangements (two to a room), should be overhauled, too.

In fact, the top Officer at the Marines - General James Conway - announced this past week that he would not force Marines to share rooms with gay service members if Congress repeals the loopy "Don't ask" policy.

The General asserted for the record that an "overwhelming" number of Marines would be opposed to bunking with someone of a different sexual orientation.

Did he poll the officers or has he arrived at the numbers off-the-cuff, though?

"The Marine Corp may be inclined to phase out double-bed bunking accommodation in favor of single rooms for service members," he stated  matter-of-fact with no qualms about it.

Conway has been an outspoken opponent of the call for a repeal of the "Don't ask - Don't tell" law.

Why?

"I think the policy works," he testified at the Senate Armed Services committee meeting last month.

3 Star commander Army Lt. General Benjamin Mixon was rebuked for urging service members and their family members to lobby their elected officials against the changes in effect now.

If my memory of history serves me right, the Greeks actually promoted the practice of "gays" in the military on the assumption that homosexual men would fight valiantly (and fiercely) to protect their country and their male lovers on the battlefield.

Conway, on the other hand, argued that Marines worried that allowing gays to serve openly would harm unit cohesion and discipline.

Personally, I hold the position that if a soldier can pass muster on his or her capabilities alone, he or she should be allowed to serve.

As is the case in the heterosexual community, sexual misconduct would not be tolerated in the "gay" ranks, and would warrant discharge if proven in a fairing hearing in a court of law.

Yeah, there's no life like it!

Barbara Walters...fascinating! Gushed over 1st Lady's arms! Lady Gaga choked on sex query! Lambert a "homo"!

Surprisingly, the one-hour Barbara Walter special opened with bodacious Pop Icon Lady Gaga,

Personally, I expected teasers throughout the night - crafted to entice fans to to remain transfixed in front of the old boob tube - in anticipation of an insightful reveal of the naughty chanteuse as promised by the undisputed Queen of insightful probes.

So, if you dashed in the front door a few minutes into the special - or sauntered out to walk  the dog at the stroke of ten - you  may have misssed an honor that Lady Gaga accorded the talk-show legend.

Shortly after being introduced, the platinum beauty (looking more Italian than ever) slipped off her ultra-chic dark sunglasses and confided that she rarely dropped that barrier for just any showbiz sucker.

Barbara was in top form last night - all decked out in a chic black cocktail dress which accentuated her trim toned physique- sparked up with an elegant necklace which begged closer inspection.

More importantly, Barbara WAWA didn't beat around the "bush".

No pun intended!

"It's been reported that you like women," Barbara started off slowly, as she tested the waters with Lady G.

Before the flavor of the month could respond, Barbara pounced with a second question, in a sort-of surprise sneak attack.

Have you had sex with women?

Were it not for the thick white pancake make-up, fans - for the first time ever - you may have actually caught the outrageous stage performer blushing!

For a moment, it appeared for all-the-world that she'd answer the ball*y query, too.

But, when the slightly-quirky pop star opened her sensuous lustily-painted lips to speak, for some inexplicable reason, a half-expected bona-fide no-holds-barred confession was not forthcoming.

Gosh, she appeared to utter from the depths of her soul, that's quite a personal question.

For a split second, the poker faced lady was anything but;  in fact - in essence - the chart-topper was literally reduced to a shy awkward virgin reticent about - well - talking turkey!

A disappointment, when you consider that  Gaga is usually  the playful sex kitten on stage, flaunting her sensual brand of passion without any qualms or holding back.

In contrast, a few moments later, Adam Lambert shot from his swivelling hips.

"Yes, I am a homosexual."

Who knew!

On this newsbite, Barbara clearly caught the tail end of the comet.

Ho Hum!

Lambert didn't offer up any  excuses for his controversial stage persona in recent days, but frankly, admitted he let his passions get the better of him (in an unrehearsed fly by-the-crotch adrenalin rush) on stage that fateful night at the American Music Awards - which ultimately -  caused the swish-buckler to be banished from ABC airwaves.

"I wear my emotions on my sleeve," he confessed somewhat poignantly.

At the close of the interview, he had a message for American TV viewers (and critics).

"Deal with it."

Never to be caged in (or hankering to be too predictable) Barbara spun off in a new direction at this juncture and focused for a brief duration on the sports arena.

Brett Favre's flip-flopping football career was great fodder (and thus) established in the eyes of Barbara that he was not only a candidate for "hero and myth-maker" but ripe for the title of one of most fascinating (10) people of the year.

After all, the stud's unique brand of rise and fall theatrics (on and off the gridiron) was the stuff that legends are made of.

When Barbara announced an upcoming spot with Sarah Palin, an announcer noted  that the most-fascinating individual would follow after the spot with the perky politician.

Ah, the suspense was over; obviously, Sarah Palin was not going to be "the" most fascinating person of 2009 (just one of ten singled out by the veteran newsie).

I admit, Palin is the most intriguing gun-toter, polar-bear killer, and in-law hater.

But, one of the ten most fascinating?

Poppycock!

In the somewhat low-key segment,  Barbara asked point blank if Sarah wanted to be President.

Her reply was a tad evasive.

Fresh from commerical break, the upstart from the great white north, admitted she didn't know why people found her fascinating.

Say what?

Do they?

"There's alot of  bull-crap out there,"  she guffawed, when  reminded of the mean barbs  she was forced to endure on the campaign trail in her rented Republican monkey-suits.

If you ask me, most of the celebrated dung was being flung from her party.

In response to a query about Dave Letterman, she was hard-nosed and to the point.

"He's a sexist," she retorted without batting a pretty eyelash.

T*t for tat, eh?

Her life was "kind-of a reality-show", she sighed.

When asked what most she'd like to change about herself, her answer was swift.

"To be more patient," for starters.

What does she dislike most about her appearance?

Bearing five children tooks its toll, she admitted, so the old bod suffered some fall-out.

"Don't make me go into details."

Palin's idea of a perfect day goes something like this:

Snow is falling on the ground, it's a wonderful beautiful Alaskan day, and all family members are at home and enjoying each other's company.

Except for Levi Johnston, of course!

Talk about squeaky-clean bull-crap!

Time to move on, wouldn't 'ya say?

Michael Jackson was singled out in the top ten, too, in spite of his untimely demise.

Instead of focusing on the pop star and his music, Barbara chose to focus on his adorable kids, his conscientious efforts to provide a good home, protect the children from prying eyes of the media, and be a good father (in spite of the storms raging on outside of the family compound).

In that segment, Ms. Walters closed with one stinging criticism from Michael (which appeared to come straight from the grave).

"I didn't like being called wacko-Jacko!"

The well-thought-out top ten list also included a talk show host notorious for being outspoken and expressing unpopular views.

A governor's wife was also applauded for the way she handled her husband's indiscretions.

And, the intriguing list would not have been complete without an actor in tow.

Yawn!

Finally, the big moment arrived.

The most fascinating person, in the final analysis, appeared to have been catapulted into her  heady status by virtue of her muscular eye-catching arms alone!

Any ideas?

Yessir!

The prestigious title was bestowed on the 1st Lady, Michelle Obama - who, by Walters' accounts - was shaping up to be so much more than the sum of her toned body parts.

When asked to describe the past year of her life, the Mrs. Obama  was quick on the uptake, in a refreshing on-camera moment which was not unlike a breath of fresh air.

"It's been a whirlwind. I visited eight countries, planted a garden, got a dog, and now getting ready for the first Christmas in the White House."

But, there had been humanitarian accommplishments, too.

"We began to lay a foundation for the health of kid in this countrys. One in three children, you know, are obese.  African-American children suffer most from this problem, with hispanic children right behind."

Now, Barbara wanted to talk about the famous Michelle Obama  arms.

Could they?

"Certainly."

"Do you feel pressured about keeping them up," Barbara amusingly quizzed in so many words.

Michelle prefaced this part of the conversation by noting that - In spite of her hectic schedule - her personal routine hadn't changed much.

The busy homemaker  started to work out and get in tip-top shape after Maria was born, in fact.

"It was a bit of revenge because Barack always found time to stay in shape and go to the gym. I was resentful of that."

One day, it all fell into place, she explained to Barbara just like that.

"At four o'clock, I would get up to feed the baby. So, I thought, I may as well go to the gym."

Instinctively, Michelle also knew that if she wasn't there at the house, her hubby would get up and feed the baby in her absence.

"The arms took a lot of determination," she asserted, in a last-ditch effort to square away the details.
By the way, Mrs. Obama looked stunning!

A coral-colored gown - which draped off one shoulder with a understated (but elegant) fashion flourish - suited her pretty looks.

A swept up "do" - somewhat reminiscent of the Victorian era - highlighted and drew attention to her  distinctive facial features - in particular -a prominent  forehead, high cheekbones, and strong (determined) jaw.

Kudos!

The 1st lady noted - when asked  - that her downfall tended to be inherent in  the realms of poor food-based habits and low-brow TV programs.

Heaven, to Michelle, is an hour of quiet time - with the dog in her lap - reflecting on life (and day-to-day matters).

In spite of the fact Michelle has resided in the White House for almost a year, the happily-married mom still marvels at the sumptuous White House environs.

Bascially, she feels blessed, when the limo purrs up the front drive of the beautiful home, and the staff greet her with two heartfelt words:

"Welcome home."

At times, just betcha, Michelle pinches herself  to fathom if it's all a surreal dream.

In sum, the President's wife was charming, eloquent, and projected a classy image.

Ah, a 1st lady all American should be proud of, right?

Gay marriage ban lifted...Dudes lookin' for Mr. Right!

Virile Cowboy images high on list of gay erotica...

Well, they are dancin' a jig in San Francisco tonight, on the heels of an Appellate court ruling lifting a ban on "gay marriage".

So, while the legal eagles dissect and interpret the Judges' wranglings - and the mainstream press makes social commentary about the issues - I thought I would get "down" to practical issues.

The Quest? How to find an "eligible" gay man to pin your romantic hopes on!

True, the lifting of the ban may result in a little more openness among a handful of shy dudes who have been lurking around in the closet 'til now, but I am inclined to hazard a guess that there will be a couple of potential catches not so noticeable on the old "gaydar".

As fate would have it, I stumbled upon Laurie Mitchell's insightful book - "So, Is he Gay?" - in a used-book store - "Out of the Closet" - of all places. Imagine that! So, I thumbed through the sticky pages to find a handful of pointers for all you single folks out there on the look-out for a studly single homo guy to get hitched to.

Well, for starters, appearance may signal a few tell-tale signs, don’t ‘ya think?

According to Ms. Mitchell, a gay man stands out in his neatly-ironed shirt and perfectly-fitting - clean, never frayed or patched - designer jeans. In contrast, be on the watch for rumpled clothing and obvious "worn" spots in the trousers - where car keys, change, and a wallet have worn through - 'cause this means you're wasting your time on a die-hard straight dude.

To a gay man shoes are important; so, they are always coordinated with the rest of the chic ensemble, never worn down at the heels. The dude who chases chicks will have ones with thick soles - for comfort, not style - according to Mitchell. And, are usually paired with a shirt and pant toss up. He often refers to his wardrobe choices as "rags" - which they are (my notation, not hers).

Strike up a bit of chit-chat 'cause the non-heterosexual's career choice will signal a lot, too. One of the "boys" will be in antiques, a hotel desk clerk, or in gainful employment where fashion or theatre is involved, she asserts. The straight guy, according to Mitchell - first and foremost - is an engineer. That may conjure up macho images to some, but forget it. I say, be practical: what's the dude goin' to do with a pen** anyway, if he's not that way inclined?

Speaking of which, she correctly notes that the slang term - "uncut" - means "uncircumcised" to a friend of Dorothy. But, to a randy straight stud, the colorful word fathoms up images of sensual down-and-dirty "adult videos". Good target on that one, Ms. Mitchell.

If you stumble across a potential love interest in a park, keep your eye out for a foo-foo dog because it's a dead give-a-way. He-man types love big dogs that slurp them full in-the-face, that they can wrestle with, I say.

Gays use a loofah (bet you don't know what that is; confession, I do) while his true male counterpart prefers an old-fashioned washcloth, notes the author.

And, from me, another astute observation. At the Laundromat, straight guys just "heave-ho" all their soiled clothes into one giant machine - colors and whites - alike. Detergent? The dudes just dump it in with nary an afterthought.

In contrast, I have noticed gay men not only separating, but painstakingly mixing loads at extra expense. Later, fluff and fold downtime is used to surreptitiously cruise all the available bachelors in the coin wash.

Mitchell says there are distinct personality differences, too. On the dominant side, a gay male pursues fun first, getting laid second. I'm inclined to contradict; force of habit, I guess. Meanwhile, she contends that the straight arrow has a big focus on getting laid first and getting ahead, second.

Guess that's why he always grabs for the remote? (my offering)

Gays notice the details (there's a specialty magazine to facilitate that) while straights are into the "big picture". I'll add, where it matters most, in the chest.

A Gay filmgoer pines for Brad Pitt or Leonardo DiCaprio. Meanwhile, the heterosexual man is not threatened by actors - Sly Stallone, Bruce Willis, or handsome Harrison Ford - even if there are partial nude scenes of their studly buffed bods onscreen. (my observation)

When it comes to country music, the square-dancing gay LUVS Tammy Wynette. Straight cowboys prefer Hank Williams Jr., she contends.

And, what of the ever-changing fickle pop music scene? The "girls" may go for talented cutie Justin Timberlake. The straights, who knows? Somethin' tells me their tastes are all across the board! Depending on their girlfriends, I guess!

A sure sign he's gay?

He strikes up a conversation with you at the urinal in the men's room.

Likes what he spied below the belt, I figure!
