4th of July..dazzling fireworks displays @ Caesars & Stratosphere in Vegas! Chic Azure Pool Party!

Thursday evening the Vegas Strip was already throbbing to the holiday beat as out-of-towners started to swarm into the desert oasis to hunker down for the 4th of July weekend ahead.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors  Bureau was quick to note to all within earshot that 292,000 travelers are expected to zip into town over the next three days (the staggering numbers are up by 3.2% from last year).

According to polls, tourists have pinned their hopes on extravagant fireworks displays to blast 'em out of the doldrums, as the economy continues to act sluggishly (in spite of the efforts of politicians on the hill!).

Uh-huh!

Tourists are betting on Las Vegas to deliver up those thrills!

If you haven't book a room yet, last-minute room rates are running at $52 - $352 nightly at Planet Hollywood, the Cosmopolitan, Luxor, and MGM Grand.

By the way, if you manage to roar into town, check out the extravagant spectacular fireworks display which is slated for Caesars Hotel on Sunday evening (July 3rd) at 9:15 p.m.

The Stratosphere is also offering up a pyrotechnic dazzler on the 8th level of the free-standing tower (at Sahara and Las Vegas Boulevard) which will feature $3.00 shots, tasty entree specials, and a round-or-two of Bikini Blackjack!

At sprawling Mandalay Bay Mystic Roots will entertain at 9:00 p.m. with fireworks to follow (Monday, July 4th).

The El Cortez is tossing a down-to-earth soiree keen on a classic car show, sizzling-hot music, and pizza.

Nascar fans will undoubtedly scoop up tickets ($15.00) for the annual "Night of Fire" at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway where they'll be entertained by Nascar-sanctioned stock-car racing , a Jet Car burn, fireworks, and an appearance by Robosaurus (a 40-foot-tall fire-breathing car-crushing robotic dinosaur).

At Rhumbar at the Mirage, there will also be a patio party featuring cocktails like the "Pink Sugar" and the "Sparkling Cosmopolitan".

Luxor will attract big crowds (thirsty-ones, anyway) with their 100 ounce Flagpole Daiquiri consisting of three patriotic-colored components such as Strawberry Daiquiri (red), Pine Colada (white), and Coconut Banana (blue) for $35.00 a pop ($25.00 per refill).

The chicest pool party on Saturday and Sunday will attract the trendy with-it crowd at the Azure Luxury Pool on the strip.

The $15.00 cover includes music and entertainment, exotic cocktails, Kobe Beef Burgers, ribs, and an All-American hot dog favorite.

See 'ya there!

Contacts at DNA Magazine in Australia invited me to - SPLASH! - a venue party at Sydney's Ivy Pool Bar hosted by Hautes Vacances.

Darn, I'm languishing hundreds of miles away on the West Coast of Calfornia, and unable to take the plunge.

But, Aussie bums - down under - should mark the calendar!

DJs Adam Love and Jason Barry flap the platters for what is expected to be an afternoon of sexy boisterous fun in the lazy  mid-day sun.

Against the sizzling sensual Splash! backdrop, DNA intends to unveil this year's much-anticipated swimwear edition

Uh-huh!

Studly male models will be flexing their stuff amidst a wild sea of hot 'n horny dudes yahooing on the sidelines poolside and at the bar where exotic cocktails and trendy ales are expected to flow throughout the high-energy event.

Kick one (or two) back for me, eh?

Holly Madison...peepshow star appears poolside @ Wet Republic! July 4th...

Holly Madison makes a big splash tomorrow poolside at Wet Republic for the raucous 4th of July festivities!

The peepshow star has garnered quite a bit of attention in recent days due to her titillating - um - high public profile in Sin City (and elsewhere).

I expect the dip at the MGM Grand will prove to be a feast for the eyes (and then some).

In her current Vegas extravaganza (Peep Show) the ingenuous starlett plays a nubile Bo Peep who invites adventurous fans on a journey of sexual discovery by way of a handful of erotic choreographed dance numbers featuring flimsily-clad schoolgirls, cheerleaders, and cowgirls.

Hee-haw!

See 'ya there.

Insert your trim sexy figure anywhere poolside!

Wild Wild West...comfy affordable suites! Free WiFi! Pool! Cafe gratis!

Surprisingly, the Wild Wild West's "Days Inn" suites in Vegas, turned out to be a great deal!

Just across the bridge from the glitzy strip - on Tropicana - the little hide-a-way is affordably-priced, boasts a few perks (such as free 24-hour WiFi access & sparkling lagoon-style pool), and within shouting distance of all the adrenalin-rushing night life.

By the way, if a tourist is quick and snaps up a suite overlooking the pool, the exotic-looking nightscape of Aria (@ the spanking new City Center Complex), New York New York, and the Luxor Pyramid will take your breath away under a starry night sky.

Although the parking lot is situated on a dicey part of Tropicana don't let that put you off when you drive up.

Once inside the compound, particularly poolside, the environs are quite restful and put the weary traveller at ease right away.

Nearby, there are a handful of fast-food outlets - McDonald's, Jack-in-the-Box, Wendy's - for folks on a limited budget unable to spring for extravagant buffets at the upscale Hotels on the main strip.

One of my favorite features at the Wild Wild West?

The one-way mirrored windows fronting each suite which allow the liberated guest to stretch back on their beds stark naked without any of the staff (or guests) strolling by on the walkway any the wiser.

I've turned into such a dirty old-man, I know!

By the way, there is a jacuzzi at one end of the pool, for dudes and gals on the prowl looking to hook up for a romantic dinner (or - what-have-you - as the Big Lebowski might quip), a dance, or cocktail or two at one of the watering holes uptown.

See 'ya there!

Steve Wynn...Beach Club at Wynn Resort may boost traffic & sales!

A few months ago, amidst all the hoopla of the approaching grand opening of Aria, a wrecking ball began knocking down walls at the front end of Steve Wynn’s resort Hotel on Las Vegas Boulevard.

The mercurial entrepreneur - a mainstay on the Vegas scene - wasn’t going to be left behind!

Wynn announced that he was pumping several million dollars into renovations with the specific aim of creating a swanky Beach Club.

When I cruised by Wynn’s Encore early this afternoon, and spied the almost-finished play spa, it struck me that Steve was either a great visionary or just managed to luck out on a good idea that was going to transform his resort from the image of an exclusive Ivory Tower beyond reach of the common masses to one that would have a more widespread appeal to regular tourists, businessmen on-the-go, you name it.

For example, Wynn’s original Hotel was set back off the main thoroughfare, and not easily accessible from the strip.

Patrons trundling down the strip on a pub crawl were forced to take a long jog up a curving drive - as they dodged a fleet of elegant Rolls Royces - chauffeuring the rich and mighty in-and-out of the tony establishment.

A bit off-putting for the regular Joe.

Because Wynn has fronted the Beach Club right on the Vegas Strip the Resort will obviously be transformed in many respects as a result.

Undoubtedly, Mr. Wynn will be rustling up a lot of street traffic, which will boost sales and the overall popularity of the Wynn.

Good on you, Steve!

Swimsuits...for sizzlin' hot daze in sun! Fashion 2008.

Ah, the lazy days of summer are upon us.

And, fathoming a big splash under the sizzlin' mid-day sun may require a bit of fashion savvy.

The confident male animal will be strutting about the beach - and kickin' up sand - in sleek, snug, sexy suits in a myriad of enticing rich colors that add zesty pick-up to even the heartiest of hang-over doldrums this season.

For the adventurous dude the gamut may run from retro inspirations to boxer-inspired baggies and surfer chic.

For women, the key word is "skimpy".

And, eye-catching hues like Fuchsia take center stage.

Of course, a woman with discerning style may take a bolder fashion step forward in jewel tones - emerald, purple and sapphire blue - for instance.

Ah, the right palette to strike accord throughout the upcoming season.

But, for the fashion adventurous, there are a wild array of snazzy geometrics, pretty prints, and tactile offerings in metallic bling; crowd-leasers, sure to engender a stand out fashion statement amid the beach throngs.

A classic black swimsuit (pictured below) will always garner favor in mixed circles - after all - they're simple but always elegant.

Or be bold - strike out on your own - with a pretty little black halter-neck one-piece. Magic time!

While there is a return to the classic one-piece - solid or two-tone - cut-outs, monokinis, and stylish maillots will be out front sparking chit-chat at poolside and shorelines around the country.

While lower leg lines embracing a retro look may appeal to sum (that's okay), the big attention-getters are the skimpier, bikini models, similar to those posted here.

Saunter into the daze of summer with style, eh?
