In a bid to turn Nikki Beach into a sizzling-hot player on the Vegas Strip the savvy brass at the Tropicana Hotel scored big this 4th of July weekend.

Rihanna was lured to host a chi-chi after-party for the fickle trendy set tonight.

Expect a sell-out packed gang of party-heartiers!

The flaming red-head (!) is expected to saunter in around the witching hour to toast the town that recently welcomed her with open arms.

Say, Perez Hilton was in Sin City last night to kick-off his own brand of 4th of July celebrations, at the Bellagio.

Do you expect he'll sashay in tonight to sniff out all the scoop, gossip, and poop?

4th of July..dazzling fireworks displays @ Caesars & Stratosphere in Vegas! Chic Azure Pool Party!

Thursday evening the Vegas Strip was already throbbing to the holiday beat as out-of-towners started to swarm into the desert oasis to hunker down for the 4th of July weekend ahead.

The Las Vegas Convention and Visitors  Bureau was quick to note to all within earshot that 292,000 travelers are expected to zip into town over the next three days (the staggering numbers are up by 3.2% from last year).

According to polls, tourists have pinned their hopes on extravagant fireworks displays to blast 'em out of the doldrums, as the economy continues to act sluggishly (in spite of the efforts of politicians on the hill!).

Uh-huh!

Tourists are betting on Las Vegas to deliver up those thrills!

If you haven't book a room yet, last-minute room rates are running at $52 - $352 nightly at Planet Hollywood, the Cosmopolitan, Luxor, and MGM Grand.

By the way, if you manage to roar into town, check out the extravagant spectacular fireworks display which is slated for Caesars Hotel on Sunday evening (July 3rd) at 9:15 p.m.

The Stratosphere is also offering up a pyrotechnic dazzler on the 8th level of the free-standing tower (at Sahara and Las Vegas Boulevard) which will feature $3.00 shots, tasty entree specials, and a round-or-two of Bikini Blackjack!

At sprawling Mandalay Bay Mystic Roots will entertain at 9:00 p.m. with fireworks to follow (Monday, July 4th).

The El Cortez is tossing a down-to-earth soiree keen on a classic car show, sizzling-hot music, and pizza.

Nascar fans will undoubtedly scoop up tickets ($15.00) for the annual "Night of Fire" at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway where they'll be entertained by Nascar-sanctioned stock-car racing , a Jet Car burn, fireworks, and an appearance by Robosaurus (a 40-foot-tall fire-breathing car-crushing robotic dinosaur).

At Rhumbar at the Mirage, there will also be a patio party featuring cocktails like the "Pink Sugar" and the "Sparkling Cosmopolitan".

Luxor will attract big crowds (thirsty-ones, anyway) with their 100 ounce Flagpole Daiquiri consisting of three patriotic-colored components such as Strawberry Daiquiri (red), Pine Colada (white), and Coconut Banana (blue) for $35.00 a pop ($25.00 per refill).

The chicest pool party on Saturday and Sunday will attract the trendy with-it crowd at the Azure Luxury Pool on the strip.

The $15.00 cover includes music and entertainment, exotic cocktails, Kobe Beef Burgers, ribs, and an All-American hot dog favorite.

See 'ya there!

LAS VEGAS...Julian Ayrs on-the-town @ BOND! Kendra Wilkinson tonight @ Pure!

Gosh, it seems like Kendra Wilkinson was celebrating her "B" Day in the trendy desert oasis just yesterday.

Is it really time to toast the Vegas beauty once again?

Die-hard fans - and friends alike - will be doing just that tonight at PURE at Caesars Palace on the glitzy Vegas strip.

If you plan on attending the star-studded soiree, then it may be a good idea to trot up to the popular Nightclub early, because the ultra "in" spot will no doubt be pulsating to packed houses tonight.

Last evening Caesars Palace was a mad house - so expect that same tonight in "Sin City" - eh?

If you're unable to crash the event, then take a trek down the crowded boulevard to the "Bond Lounge" (at the Cosmopolitan Hotel) - where a dazzling chic young crowd - is sure to party hearty at the witching hour!

And, if the hunger pangs set in, just saunter over to Henry's Restaurant across the dazzling bar for a bite to eat.

The beef dip I devoured last night at 3 a.m. was just scrumptious!

Meanwhile, fans of pool-playing will be thrilled to hear that one level (or two?) above, there is a cozy billiard room to take advantage of, too

See 'ya there!

Men's Fashion...male animal struts plumage with confidence! 2010 a turning point...

On the runway these past few weeks when Menswear (2010) was unveiled on these shores, in Milan - and even in Copenhagen - it was quite evident that the male animal will be breaking free from the fashion shackles that once held him back.

Indeed, bold ballsy dudes will be strutting their plumage - and showing off a manly portion of  buffed flesh - signalling a turning point in the male style psyche.

In fact, a well-muscled torso appears to be a fashion accessory - not to be coyly played beek-a-boo with - but stridently shown-off with unique individualized ensembles that underscore his style and panache.

Thus, a confident male may go shirtless, when sporting an eye-catching pair of slacks in brilliant hues.

Some studs will go for the muscle shirt and jeans (or tailored dress slacks) with a distinctive macho appeal.

The "look" (for the most part) will feature pristine whites - and a myriad of muted shades - or delicious offerings with monochromatic themes.

For the adventurous guy, knee-length shorts may be paired with elegant dress shirts, draped vests, and long outer-shirts (or bomber-style jackets, classic windbreakers in  vivid colors, and the like).

The man-about-town will strike a pose in chic tailor-made suits, dress shirts (that pop out in lime green, pink, or canary yellow), and understated plain or fanciful ties in luxurious silks, for instance.

Heh, you've come a long way baby!

Oscars...dazzling Governor's Ball! Chic after-party gate-crasher's dream...

Chic Governor's Ball tough to crash, Mr. President!

The red carpets will be ceremoniously rolled out, dazzling celebrities will trip-the-light-fantastic as swarms of paparazzi and gushing fans gaze on from the sidelines, little Gold Statuettes will be touted and bestowed on worthy (!) recipients -  then - it's off to the Cinderella Ball!

Well, not exactly, but the the Oscar afer-party is the biggest soiree to attend on March 7th, when the curtain for the televised Academy of Motion Pictures Arts & Sciences shutters down and the brilliant kleig lights are packed away 'til next year.

1500 winners will trot a few steps from the Kodak Theatre to the Grand Ballroom next door to toast each other with a little bubbly (and in some instances, heal each other's open wounds).

This year, the par-tay hearty - and the chic elite of Tinsel Town - will eat, drink, and be merry amidst a stunning decor lifted from the divine Art Deco era.

Event producer Cheryl Cecchetto glowed with pride recently when she boasted to the media that everything from the lighting design to the servers' outfits was carefully chosen to evoke the feel (and dramatic flair) of the period.

"The Governor's Ball will fuse eclectic and innovative design elements of the era and style," she beamed.

"The overall look will marry artistic originality with the Academy's own tradition of class and elegance."

Think Chrysler building, in New York City, folks!

On the festive occasion, guests will be impressed by the table dressings, charcoal grey tablecloths fashioned with a subtle understated sheen, exquisitely crafted arrangements in purple, and Calla lilies designed by Mark Held of Mark's Garden.

A heavenly touch has been accomplished by virtue of a tasteful interplay of hydranges air-transported in from New Zealand, Rothchild Vanda orchids shipped first class from Thailand, and organically grown roses from Ecuador.

The menu sounds scrumptuous with main entrees such as wild salmon, Taylor Bay scallops, and lusty chicken pot pie.

Before the sit-down supper, well-mannered servers will tour the ballroom with hors d'oeuvres sure to be party-pleasers - black truffle and ricota cheese mini-pizzas, mini kobe burgers, and smoked salmon pizzas with caviar and dill cream - for starters (literally).

Desserts sound YUMMY, too.

Guests will nibble on baked alaska with espresso glace, chocolate sorbet, and toasted meringue.

Following tradition, Wolfgang Puck has created mini-Oscars in delicious chocolate with a fine spray of edible gold dust that will be inclined to wink at guests as the dazzling facets catch the light.

Golly, my invite hasn't arrived yet!

Has yours?

Gremlins at the U.S. Postal Service must have snatched them up, eh?

Wink! Wink!

Las Vegas...Aria Grand Opening a smash hit! Art! Glamour! Walking shoes a prerequisite, though...

VIP's hob-knobbed and uttered up sparkling chatter, a dazzling pyrotechnic display electrically-charged the frosty night air as folks ooh-and-aahed on the strip below, and a mob of excited patrons (of which I was one) charged through a make-shift gate at the stroke of midnight to sample the sumptuous spoils of the strip's toniest new upscale Hotel (the Aria).

And, what was the lament heard most last night?

How do I get outta here!

More on that later.

Shortly after I sprinted through the starter's gate (fortunately I left my camera bag and mad-money purse at home or I would have been subject to a search) and trekked on up to the welcome team - I was  suddenly met with a lot of hoots & hollers, high-fiving, and thunderous applause from CityCenter staff which took me by surprise.

OMG!

What an adrenalin rush.

Of course, I was one of the first fifty guests to enter the Hotel & Casino, so there would be a lot of fanfare and frenzied hoopla, wouldn't there?

After all, Vegas is a city that reccognizes the importance of such auspicious occasions, and prone to celebrate with wild abandon, when they occur.

I was inclined to get caught up in the moment, too, when a wall of paparazzi turned their cameras on me as I swaggered into the tony lobby near the head of the spirited line.

"We're going to gamble, party, and have fun," I found myself gushing into one lens, as a wild round of cheers and clapping egged me on!

Later, a dude from Canada put it best, when he excitedly chirped,

"We were like celebrities, man."

Indeed!

Within minutes, I was swept up into the heady mainstream and rubbing shoulders with a throng of thrilled guests shifting gears into high-energy party-hearty mode.

When a pretty young waitress sidled up to me to offer a cocktail up, my eyes practically popped out of their sockets.

Her chic black party dress didn't leave much to the imagination.

In fact, as I took a closer look to take note of the details, I suddenly realized I was staring at her near-naked chest only slightly hidden by virtue of an exotic wisp of gauze-like material that was basically see-through.

Dudes, you've got to slip into the Aria just to get an up-close gander at these tempting shapely beauties.

Stunning, poised, approachable.

Notwithstanding the sensual delights that beckoned all around, it was the Aria Casino that truly wowed the first-comers last night.

Within minutes of the doors swinging open wide, I found myself amid a crush of revellers anxious to plug some cold-hard cash into the slots or try their luck at Roulette or Black Jack.

There was no shortage of takers - and they came in all shapes and sizes - believe in.

I spied young couples with babies in tow, single dudes in red-hot flaming skin-tight dress slacks, a posse of stylish males in expensive (dark) tailored suits, a dash of jet-setters who  flew in for the night's festivities, and casually-dressed folks in jeans just in for a look-see.

In sum, it appreared, that every strata of society was represented - and likewise - caught up in the hoopla.

At the Gold Lounge (upstairs) a handsome doorman eyed the crowd in search of VIP's, while a smattering of the curious (and a glut of wannabees) tried to crash the gate at the hottest new "in" nightclub on the Vegas scene.

A Lady Gaga chart-topper blared out from inside and triggered an upbeat carefree mood.

Just a hop-and-a-skip away, a shop specializing in Elvis memorabilia, was ringing up sales.

No wonder!

A dozen or so of the T-shirts were beautifully crafted.

I nearly snapped up one etched with sprinkling of mirror images of the King in a gold suit in a cocky stance.

Others, just as eye-catching with fashion appeal, screamed out the nameof  Elvis in a blood-red scrawl on an inky-black background.

Management dressed a few mannikens in Elvis signature outfits such as the Black Leather suit he wore in one rebel rouser feature of his heyday, a gold lame ensemble he was famous for having worn, and the white number with a wide belt and huge buckle studded with gems which El wore in his final days around the Vegas scene.

In addition, the nicely-decorated boutique featured a great array of hgh quality books, knick knacks, and the like.

Nothing in this collection was chintzy, but rather, merchandised with a modicum of good taste.

Of course, the Elvis store is running in tandem with the spanking-new Cirque de Soleil show - Viva  Elvis - which premieres on the strip in the not-too-distant future, if I am not mistaken..

One fan in the line-up out-front noted that Lisa Marie Presley was at the rehearsals the other night ordering the performers around on stage in a bossy control-freak kind-of-way.

"She's packed on about twenty pounds, too" he chortled, almost as an afterthought.

When I headed back downstairs, the chatter among the guests was now a loud roar!

I found it difficult to communicate over the spirited conversations, on occasion,  and found myself a bit hoarse at the end of the night.

At one point, two women tried to put the move on me!

Out-of-the-blue, they strolled right up.

"Hi handsome," the bolder one exclaimed.

We were in the midst of a bit of idle chit-chat about the casino, when the more confident of the two, asked me if I wanted to go for a cocktail.

"We're celebrating her divorce," she quipped.

I joked:

"You're not married to Tiger Woods, are you?"

I chuckled, then begged off with my standard response, when this kind of awkward moment rears its ugly head.

"I'm hooking up with friends in a few moments."

By the way, I couldn't help but notice that the highly-polished slot machine - "Sex and the City" - was drawing quite a few players.

Personally, I was on the look-out for the "Wizard of Oz" video game which I am a bit addicted to.

You get such a warm tingly feeling when the good witch - Glynda - suddenly appears on screen and grants a wish!

All smiles, she often waves her little wand - clicks her heels - then  rustles up 300 credits for ecstatic slot-players  to play on with.

There were quite a few of the old standards machines to play ((such as Monopoly, Cleopatra, etc), but also  a sprinking of new ones to try a hand at.

One one occasion I hit the spin button and won $5.00 - at which point - I decided to pack it in for the night.

Too much free Budweiser makes me sleepy  and cranky for my comfy King-size bed.

As I started to head towards the door at 3:30 am the house was still gyrating and strong!

Boy, oh boy, I sure shuddered at the thought of stepping outside into that icy night air; after all, rather than risk a DUI, I sauntered over to the CityCenter shindig on foot.

But, I ended up on a short adventure, exploring the CityCenter grounds just outside the Casino doors.

To my left, it was a Henry Moore sculpture  that lured me that way for a moment, then a couple of stunning life-size sculptures inside of Crystals  that led me in another.

One unique art work consisted of a half-a-dozen or so tubes in varying lengths - which stood  end to end in such a way - that they triggered a topsy-turvy sensation in the observer when viewed from various angles.

The tubes, filled with spritely-colored liquid, featured whirlpools inside that rose and fell without warning (and reminded me of twisters).

Another intriguing piece consisted of tall pencil-like free-standing poles that were not unlike a line of frosty giant-sized icycles existing in their own realm or dimension.

The rich panelled-wood floors were a feast for the eyes, too.

Exotic arrangements of plants and foliage here-and there-broke  up the monotony of the mall-like interior of one shopping alley.

But,  the night did not start or end without a hitch or two.

As guests were gathering at the front entrance -  security guards hustled to and fro - and facilitated a handful of tools at their disposal in a bold-faced effort to effect crowd control.

From one eye-opening moment to the next, the game plan would change without much warning, much to the chagrin of a few out-of-towerns who were freezing and anxious to trapise through the front doors and snatch up a thirst-quenching drink.

For example, one moment guests were instructed to exit one area, go over an overpass, and head up the driveway to form  a queue  in the paved area normally reserved for vehicles.

A short while later, that scenario was scrapped, and the secuirty team consequently shifted gears.

At one point, everyone perked up a tad when two grunts hauledover  a couple of tables draped in black drop cloth.

"Are you serving us food", one joker cried out with glee.

No, they were being angled to create a sort-of chute so that the guests could be properly coralled - not unlike a herd of cows - and pointed in the right direction at the magic moment to ensure there wasn't a stampede.

Then, someone got the bright idea to secure the area a smidgen more, by erecting two more barriers on either side, as well.

At this juncture, the guards started to look like a bunch of idiot keystone cops reminiscent of the old screwball talkies from the 1920's.

However, all through the controlled chaos, the  security team remained thoughtful, friendly and patient.

Kudos!

When I finally departed Aria around 3:30 am (feeing the pain today, believe me) I continually ran into lost  guests.

'How do I get out of this place," one man cried out to me in exasperation.

Once the long-and-winding road homeward (or Hotel bound)  is started, weary stragglers had a series of paths, stairwells, and open-air squares to deal with.

Most had to back-track, ask for directions from night workers who were on duty sweeping up, or suffer through the confusing maze of  futuria until they finally saw the light - of the moon - in this instance case.

Personally, I found myself teetering a bit in my designer leather shoes at the end of the night; after all, I usually wear practical sneakers.

Near the front of the CityCenter, I was finally forced to waddle through a small garden, hop a retaining wall, and stride about fifty-feet along an unprotected curb to finally make some headway in the right direction..

On the way, as I was crossing at a light, two ladies in an expensive cadillac parked at a red light spied me crossing.

The driver backed up, rolled down the window, and rasped:

"Honey, where are 'ya off to?"

It was a cliche right out of the movie "Precious".

Yup.

Gave 'em my standard response in awkward moments such as this.

"On may way to hook up with friends"

And if I do, what a delightful conversation we'll have over coffee, in respect to Aria.

Afer all, CityCenter is currently the talk-of-the-town!

Fuel the local economy.

Check it out, eh?

Las Vegas...chic CityCenter Hotel turns away locals improperly attired! For construction crews bittersweet good-bye...

News of the completion of the CityCenter Complex on the Vegas strip has been bittersweet.

At long last - a section of the boulevard that was once swamped with ubiquitous construction crews in hard hats holding up traffic (and prone to nasty dust bowl configurations that triggered many a tourist's search for  prettier climbs elsewhere) - is about to transform into a dazzling jewel known as the CityCenter.

Unfortunately, workers who were gainfully employed for months on end, must wrap up their tool kits and move on.

Hopefully, with the holiday season upon us, there will be ample work to keep the home fires burning cozily.

On air at one of the Vegas TV stations, a couple of locals were lamenting to all within earshot, that they were thoroughly annoyed about being turned away from a swank new Hotel ( Mandarin) just opening its doors at the chi chi multi-million-dollar complex.

Security guards rudely barred their entry for failing to dress up for the tony occasion.

"Since when do we have a dress code in Vegas," one disgruntled desert resident wailed!

I expect that if a posse of those cowboys in town for the rodeo shuffle over for an exotic cocktail and a lookie-loo, they'd be wise to don their Sunday best, and scrape the manure off their boots, too.

Meanwhile, condo builders at the site are praying for an economic turn-around, so that a handful of the emptyluxury units will start moving in the New Year.

Although pricey, the residences are quite appealing in design, with quite a few amenities.

Notwithstanding, just outside the perimeters of the residential housing, there are quite a few swank boutiques and trendy eateries to satisfy the most discerning self-indulgent lifestyle.

Ultimately, the desert oasis experiment will either boom or bust.

Barack Obama...tosses a chic dinner party under big top! Hush-hush chi-chi affair piques curiousity...

In the mood for a 3-way, honey?

Guest of Honor

In spite of the fact it'll be held in front of a stately picturesque old house on a soggy south lawn under a big floppy white top - and inclined to rustle up quite a flap in an unexpected breeze from the North - the guest list for the chic little soiree is top secret alright!

Whiz kid Barack Obama is hosting his1st State Dinner since he tossed his feet up on the desk in the oval office - so, of course - it's all about details details details.

The celebration is in honor of India's visiting Prime Minister.

Right about now, a few folks will be double-checking with the U.S. Postal Service, to ensure their invite didn't go astray.

Heck, my box was empty today, so I guess I'm SOL!

Actually, I surmise that Barack Obama is a bit pi**ed off with moi!

No wonder!

A post I published on my blog - rife with reports on speculation that the Prez dallied a tad with partners of the male persuasion in a bohemian phase of his adventurous youth (just ask Mr. Ayres, no relation to me, and he'll fill 'ya in on all the sordid details) - is currently racking up quite a number of hits this week for some inexplicable reason.

Perchance internet surfers cruising the world-wide-web in search of insider-info on the guest list, stumbled upon my tabloid-style expose, instead?

http://ijulian.blogspot.com/2009/06/barack-obamagay-rumors-post-getting.html

Ooops!

Oh well, maybe when the scandal dies down a smidgen, the Obamas will invite me to tea one fine day; after all, last year I named both on my best-dressed lists.

Actually, I shouldn't make light of the environs, since the late evening news just reported that the tent affords a bigger crowd than could normally fit in the State Dining room (140 capacity).

Although the formal, stately aura is lost in a make-shift tent in the garden au naturel, harshest critics note there is an upside.

"It isn't stuffy and the president has the freedom to create a unique opulent (potentially exotic) setting."

Golly, in addition to the Prime Minister (& family members), officials of both State Departments - and hangers-on like Oprah Winfrey, billionaire Penny Pritzker, Obama aide David Axelrod, and Dee Dee Myers - there must be a host of other noteworthy figures about to to break through the social stratosphere (glass ceiling) and trip-the-night-fantastic with the Prez and his better-half.

Just betcha a bit of riff-raff will manage to maneuver crash through the heavily-guarded gates someway somehow.

You know what they say!

It's not who you know (it's who 'ya blow!).

Puff on that Lewinski for a sec.

Uh-huh!

Undoubtedly, there will be a gay man or two (and their beards) in tow!

With none of the well-heeled elite the wiser.

Milan...Men's Collections Spring 2010!

In spite of the fact Spring 2010 is a bit far off, Fashion Designers trotted off to Milan recently to unveil their collections for men on runways that breathed new life into male animal chic.

As a kaleidoscope pulsated passionately in the background, Etro's confident macho male models strutted out in lively pant-and-shirt ensembles etched with wild Hawaiian prints, vivid paisleys, and - on occasion - streaks and splashes of pure unadulterated color sure to appeal to the peacock of the species.

Meanwhile, Roberto Cavalli was inclined to butch up his collection military-style, with the emphasis on male machismo.

Elaborate epaulets and toggles on wide-shouldered jackets effectively pumped up the upper torso to create a flattering virile silhouette.

Subtle industrial hardware flourishes beefed up the "studly" image, too.

In contrast, Marc Jacobs wowed adventurous coming-of-age style-magnet males with lipstick-kiss motifs on blousey shirts, a bevy of shorts prone to rise and fall all over a muscled leg (pleated, on occasion, sometimes not).

Street-smark Jacobs was wise to turn-out a bevy of biker jackets of all practical and fanciful persuasion (kinky, beefy, streetwise) sure to be winners in the mainstream.

Hollywood types - Depp, Pitt, and Pattinson, for starters - may be inspired to pluck up Jacob's quirky elongated Tuxedo on a fashion whim.

Come Spring (probably sooner), flaunting fashion-conscious dudes and a show-off gym bunny or two will undoubtedly snap up a gauzy (see thru) muscle shirt with armholes down to the waist that casually tease potential suitors when exposing a pumped-up pec or two.

Salvatore Ferragamo, one of my favorite chi-chi designers, trotted out chic suits with a big spotlight on subtle Italian tailoring and styling.

Slim double-breasted suits in fine wool or cotton gabardine will be all the rage when the first flower buds longingly strain for innocent spring skies that herald new prospects for the coming year.

Two-tone shoes, built on simple two-lace tie-up structures, made a welcome entry, too.

Ferre didn't surprise much, instead preferring to stray along mostly-familiar fashion territory with signature design flourishes that have been big sellers for that powerhouse in the past.

The stylish man-about-town may go broke over stand-out stand-alone (entree) pieces enriched with gold embroidery (still a fashion rage and revving up on T-shirts and designer jeans) or tooled in sexed-up body-hugging butter-soft leather.

Sleeveless shirts (tailored in all the right places) may entice a muscled chevron (or bicep) to flex a bit for show when a man's on the prowl.

Some uppity fashion editors did not warm up to Alexander McQueen's vision for Spring.

Just maybe, it was because naughty Alex elected to go a bit cerebral in Milan that week.

Instead of flaunting his collection on stage - so that the keen eyes of the critical fashion press could feast upon the offerings in a practical context on the runway as crafted fabric shells shaped and molded to flow in harmony with body parts and flesh - McQueen elected to present an esoteric video of an emotionally-charged artist smearing clay on walls.

McQueen's jumping-off point when under the fashion gun?

The slightly-balmy designer's off-the-wall presentation of the collection consisting mainly of suits and work wear daubed with paint - strung out on (yawn) plain old racks - underscored that it might be so.

I found the novelty fashion statements - decorated with line drawings, abstract prints, and patchworks - were bang on in view of the trends making leaps and bounds in pop culture circles this past year.

The so-called "lived-in-look" critics have turned a blind eye to - merely signal that the male of the species is becoming more comfortable in his skin - real or imagined.

The most whimsical offerings were out of "Costume National" labelled a collection for "Travelers & Curious Explorers".

Ennio Cpasa featured drop-crotch pants (great for hiking jaunts in France , n'est-ce pas?), ensemble pieces with rough edges to toughen up the image, and macho army boots to anchor any of the fashion fantasies about to take flight.

One design adventure - a cropped satin jacket with floral embroideries - hinted at a romantically-inspired trend to surface next year as the economy picks up, the recession is turned back, and the pleasure principle rails the day on the American fashion front once again.

Can't wait!

Belmont Cafe...trendy eatery with surprise guests! West Hollywood.

The Belmont Cafe - at 747 N. La Cienega - is one of those chic little boites just a hop-and-a-skip away from trendy Melrose Avenue.

Usually - there is a swirl of social activity out front - as glittering celebs and a handful of the tony elite purr up in their pricey top-of-the-line autos where a sharp brigade of smartly-attired Valets are ready to do their bidding.

Not to be outdone - a hair's breath away - a pack of hungry photographers jockey for position. If the professional snappers are lucky, they'll snag a candid shot of an A-list actor as he alights from his vehicle or returns later a bit tipsy.

Last evening as I strolled through the gauntlet on the bustling street in front of the upscale eatery, by chance, I happened to gaze up.

Ha! I spied a hilarious sign that would cause Jay Leno to chortle, for sure.

It read,

"We have crabs."

Golly!

Remind me not to sit on the toilet seat in their mensroom in the future, please!
