Sarah Palin..."Blind Allegiance" expose! Queen of Tea Party potboiler!

Between the scandal sheets!

Poor Sarah Palin!

The former John McCain running mate - who ran against Obama's ticket in the last Presidential race - was pretty adept at keeping her innermost scandalous secrets in the closet.

And, with a slick posse of handlers on hand along the campaign trail daily, it was pretty much a snap for the charismatic upstart to prevent damaging gossip from floating out onto the political terrain and spewing over the vicious blogosphere where nasty pundits were laying in wait hungry for the the dirt.

Notwithstanding, staunch strident supporters were always at-the-ready - quick-as-a-wink- to leap into action and extinguish fires when they flared up now and then.

But, with a tell-all expose about to be published (and released) on May 24th, it appears that Sarah's fifteen glorious minutes in the sun are about to be eclipsed by the dark musings of Frank Bailey and a pack of wolves howling at the moon.

Go, figure!

Bailey is a former aide, who lived it up with Palin, so he could write it all down for posterity.

Now, his detailed chilling side of things is about to be released under the auspices of "Howard Books".

Due out on May 24th, the potboiler titled - "Blind Allegiance" - is expected to toss a searing spotlight on the Queen of the Tea Party circuit - and ultimately - knock the folksey Alaskan flat on her Republican ass.

Curiously, Ken Morris (a published author) and a high-profile blogger (Jeannie Devon) collaborated with Bailey on the much-anticipated page-turner.

Not surprising, eh?

When there are skeletons in the closet, a ghost whisperer or two, to shake out the cobwebs of intrigue!

Just betch, it's on the bestseller list, first week out on the shelves!

Tell-all no joke for Queen of Tea Party!

Barack Obama...jets into San Francisco! Horns of dilemma!

Once again, President Obama is jetting into the picturesque bay area to lock "horns" with the captains of Industry on the West Coast.

Actually, on the heels of a controversy over the President's reluctance to engage in a little show-and-tell by coughing up his elusive long-form birth certificate - stirred up by irascible White House hopeful Donald Trump - Obama has reiterated once again for the record that he doesn't have any horns!

"And, I became a man in Chicago," he quipped at the podium last week on the heels of the "birthing" issue which was recently resurrected - ironically - during the sacred Easter holiday season.

However, Governor Brewer nixed all that when she got cold feet and vetoed a bill to force the President's claw - er - hand.

Did Brewer back down for political reasons (with an eye to the future) or because she just doesn't have the balls anymore to fight with the big boys on the hill in Washington?

Meanwhile, the President will rub elbows with enterprising Facebook owner - Mark Zuckerberg  - and other technology leaders shortly after he touches down on the tarmac.

The spirited talks - mostly behind-closed-doors - are expected to put the spotlight on Government investments in research and development, education, and clean energy," according to Barack's handlers.

The president is slated to arrive Thursday evening, then fly out of San Francisco International Airport on Friday morning, on a precise no-nonesense time-table.

Will Barack dawdle a moment-or-two at SFO to take a gander at dazzling spanking-new Terminal 2, which was recently transformed into a jet-setter's hop-over paradise?

By the way, the President has invited fascinated voters to get involved virtually - on the Internet this intriguing time-around.

Barack is now utilizing the potent power of the world-wide-web (and its ubiquitous presence) to rustle up - a younger, hipper, more technologically-advanced demographic - which will undoubtedly help him land the election in 2012.

While the White House insists that the President is only trying to reach out to Americans who would not generally turn to traditional media sources for information, Facebook has been exploiting the situation in a sly bold-faced effort to play a major role in President Obama's political campaign next year.

It's good for business, after all.

The heck with the country, eh?

Do you suppose the hornless one owns stock in the popular social hub?

Only the Winklevoss twins - and Mark Zuckerberg - know for sure.

Dancing with Stars...Bristol Palin scandal! Fans irate over ballot-stuffing!

In recent weeks, in spite of less-than-stellar dance routines, Bristol Palin has managed to finesse her way to the top of the "Dancing with the Stars" hopeful heap much to the chagrin of  hateful detractors sharpening their daggers on the sidelines.

What accounts for this remarkable phenomenon?

Tea Party Republicans have allegedly hurt the integrity of the ballot-box at the ABC website - by casting excessive double (and maybe triple votes) on her behalf - according to angry viewers who are livid at the prospect of the tarted-up little tramp winning the coveted glitter ball.

Indeed!

On a couple of occasions when I tuned in to catch the top-rated glitzy entertainment bill-of-fare - I couldn't help but notice that the plump homely-looking contestant - with no star quality to speak of - was a mediocre dancer at best!.

Is dirty politics at the crux of it?

There outta be a law.

Newsmax...novel Webcast online gimmick! Kicks off with Sarah Palin!

It wasn't labelled spam!

But, the screaming e-mail - inviting me to participate in an unprecedented series of web discussions and debates October 12th thru November 2nd - landed with a thud just shy of it.

In bold - red, white, and blue type (a sensational attention-grabber, don't 'ya think?) - Newsmax touted an exciting landmark political event - replete with a lineup of the Nation's most respected and powerful voices.

The "Queen of the Tea Party" circuit - for example - will kick off the campaign.

Uh-huh!

Sarah Palin is slated to take center stage on October 12th and run off at-the-mouth for the much-ballyhooed campaign:

"Make America Great Again"

According to the public relations folks at Newsmax, they have taken a cue from a Palin superhero of yesteryear.

Allegedly, the event is in honor of President Ronald Reagan’s immortal 1980 pledge to restore:

“The great confident roar of American progress and growth and optimism.”

But, I have an inkling that the launch is a well-orchestrated attempt to win over the madding crowd of voters, who traverse the Internet in search of political certainty.

"As you know, Governor Palin has been a passionate and much-needed voice in these times. She has helped organize a powerful grass-roots movement toward restoring sensibility, personal freedoms, and accountability in America," a copy-writer breathlessly gushed in the press release.

And, as I humbly key in this post, it appears that the organizers at Newsmax are endeavouring to accomplish so much more than that, though.

"We are reaching out to the very folks you turn to when you want the real story on matters that affect your family, your country, and your freedoms."

Indeed!

Newsmax has arranged for a series of exclusive online interviews with high-profile citizens which will broadcast October 12th thru November 2nd.

According to insiders, Dick Morris - a top political strategist and the man "Time" magazine referred to as “the most influential private citizen in America” - has agreed to participate in this important program.

Also on the roster?

A sit-down chat with Mike Reagan, best-selling author, syndicated columnist, and eldest son of President Ronald Reagan.

Although Mike's book ("New Reagan Revolution") won't hit the presses 'til next year, he'll share his thoughts on the subject during the the Newsmax presentation next month.

Why?

To fuel up Americans, so they will hopefully recognize the need to "take America back" now!

You go, girl!

Sarah Palin...controversial perks! Lack of transparancy incenses officials...

 $5.00 a handshake
(Sarah, you did good)

Another controversy has reared its ugly head in the Palin camp!

When a couple of students stumbled on a proposed iternary for a potential  Sarah Palin speaking engagement in the trash - with a list of demands - Officials were incensed!

For starters, the particulars appeared to be a bit excessive in nature for a appearance on campus:

* 2 first class tickets
* Private jet policy
* Deluxe hotel suite
* Pre-screened questions

In addition, there was a stipulation that the facility provide bottled water with bendable straws.

The price tag (though not listed on the trash cast-offs) for the engagement?

$100,000.00 smackeroos!

But, what really irked the Officials was the lack of transparency.

That paperwork should have been recorded and filed and not just tossed in the garbage bin away from prying eyes.

Did Sarah Palin request that the terms and conditions be shrouded in mystery?

Sarah Palin...if Fidel Castro likes it? Queen of tea party attacks Obamacare...

What can I say?
(She gives me a boner)

At a rally today in Mesa (Arizona) feisty Queen of the Tea Party - Sarah Palin - stormed the stage and wasted no time launching full-frontal attacks on the "left", "the mainstream media", and even communist leader Fidel Castro!

It was either that time of the month, or Palin was - quite frankly - "mad as hell and not taking it anymore".

At the top of her speech - tirade? - the former gun-toting beauty Queen from the Great White North - didn't beat around the proverbial bush about the impact of the upstarts who have become known as the "Tea Party".

"It's a good thing," she hollered to a packed house of supporters (for the most part) who jumped to their feet and roared their approval.

At one point, when a heckler nearly pushed Sarah to the brink, she held back instead of lashing out and managed to avoid a nasty bit** fight.

After collecting her thoughts, she rustled up an invitation instead (tongue-in-cheek?).

"Stick around, Sir, You might learn something."

When the commotion persisted off-camera - and it appeared from Palin's reaction that supporters were interceding on her behalf in the bleachers - she huffed that it was okay for the individual to speak up.

"That's what America is all about, the right to protest."

I expect someone is cursing security in the aftermath of the embarrassing incident (in spite of the fact Sarah maintained her "cool").

The mere mention of "Obamacare" sent the audience into a tizzy.

Indeed, a loud groan signaled the disgust of tea party afficiandos in the auditorium.

"If Fidel Castro says it is a good thing, then something is wrong," she shouted out to supporters who responded with a raucous round of hoots and hollers.

At this juncture, a scuffle apparently broke out in the crowd, somewhere in front of the podium (off-camera).

"There you go again," she snipped with a touch of anger in her voice.

The incident was glaring enough to cause Palin to seize the opportunity to take pot-shots at the press.

"Now, if there was a fair mainstream media present that might be called violence."

In response to recent allegations over the past week that tea party members were engaged in violence she stressed that it was not the case.

"That's BS."

"We get involved," she added.

"We don't believe in violence."

She accused the Democrats of twisting and distoring the facts and "changing the focus".

Meanwile, John MCain stood behind Sarah Palin with a plastic look plastered all over his face.

Anxious to move on, Palin turned her thoughts to the candidate she was there to support in the upcoming primaries.

"John MCain spoke up. He didn't go with flow."

"Dead fish go with the flow," she quipped.

She's been killing them in Alaska for years, so she should know, eh?

"They say the tea party is the party of  'no'", she hissed.

"Party of 'no', what is wrong with that?"

In fact, she asserted in no uncertain terms, that John McCain was actually leading with "ideas".

"Become part of no?," she quizzed in an afterthought.

"How 'bout - "not just no" - but hell no!"

Sounded like a lot of do-do to me!

At this point, Sarah launched into her proud to be free, ra-ra America, mantra.

"We're not going to apologize for being American."

Before inviting McCain to the podium to address the supporters present, Palin compared the World War II Hero to Ronald Reagan and Barry Goldwater in what amounted to a glowing tribute.

At the mic John McCain gushed that Sarah Palin was simply magnificent.

To avoid the likelihood of throwing up all over the television I flipped the channel.

Talk about rhetoric!

Palin lip service!

Sarah Palin...at rally in leathers! Republican make-over magic...

When I casually mentioned in a post on Justin Bieber's appearance on the Dave Letterman Show, that his fashion statement would trigger wardrobe sales at retail outlets around the country the next day, I didn't expect Sarah Palin to be at the head of the line.

Uh-huh.

With an obvious nod to Justin, Palin turned out at a Republican rally in Arizona (with wrinkly-old white Dude Senator John McCain in tow) sporting a chic leather jacket with all manner of snazzy eye-catching zips and snaps!

Justin Bieber
(Post)

I half-expected the reality-show celebrity to take a cue from Cher.

"Let's hear it for the jacket."

Talk about an about-face!

On the campaign trail last year, Ms. Palin dressed-to-the-nines (at Republican expense) in conservative suits and tasteful wardrobe ensembles that projected a prim-and-proper image voters around the country were inclined to warm up to.

So, what gives with the biker chick look?

After all - on the last occasion I took high "tea" at the Empress Room in Victoria - the well-heeled crowd in attendance there were suitably attired in threads that were decidedly understated and elegant.

Maybe "tea party" afficianados are hankering to transform their image (youth-an-ize it) in a sly bold-faced effort to lure a demographic with a bit of clout (and less snoozing power) at the polling stations.

And, as Columbo would say.

"There's just one more thing."

Sarah, your jacket is "too tight".

I didn't need to be a detective to fathom the obvious up.

The leather folds stretching taut at the seams screamed it out.

Just maybe, Palin scoffed the jacket out of Crystal's closet?

Talk about incestuous!

Sarah, you're an uncooth cougar, alright.

Sarah's "Born Again Christian" look!

Health Care Reform Bill...Victory for President Barack Obama! 216 magic number...

President pitches reform in 11th hour!

When the 216th vote was cast in favor of the Health Insurance Reform Bill earlier today, it was a magic number for President Barack Obama.

The hard-fought battle to reach out to millions of uninsured Americans had been won!

The President - who had been watching the vote count from a perch in the Roosevelt Room at the White House - jumped to his feet when the threshold was crossed, high-fived his Chief of Staff (Rahm Emanuel), and hugged members of his team in the midst of a raucous burst of applause.

It was a widely-held view that the bill (a year in-the-making) was dead in its tracks months ago - but the oh-so-buoyant (some said bogged down) piece of legislation - managed to rise up from the ashes like a Phoenix.

Many attribute the outcome (a historical political & social event) to the dogged-ness of the President (who wouldn't take "no" for an answer) and the stick-to-it tenacity of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

In fact, at a caucus meeting on Saturday night, Ms. Pelosi was being hailed as the major driving force behind the measure, responsible for it passing the House with a 219-212 count.

Not surprising, Republicans were unanimous in their opposition to the complex bill (along with 34 dissident Democrats).

The legislation awaiting the President's approval would extend coverage to 32 million Americans who lack it now, ban insurers from denying coverage on the basis of pre-existing medical conditions, and cut deficits by an estimated $138 billion over a decade.

If the final analysis, insurance coverage would extend its current reach, to include 95 percent of all eligible individuals under the age of 65.

Will Barack Obama sign it?

You bet your sweet bippy!

But, it is not all smooth sailing, just yet.

A second measure - which effects changes to the first - has been slated for consideration later this evening.

A Senate spokesperson asserted there were enough votes to pass it.

After reviewing a handful of the clauses, I was surprised to learn (for the first time) that under the terms of the "Bill", most Americans would be required to purchase insurance or face penalties if they refused.

To me, it appears a little unconstitutional, for starters.

A large piece of the money (moon) pie would be devoted to subsidies to help families (with incomes up to $88,000.00) pay their premiums, however.

The sweeping changes may not bode well for individuals in other social scenarios, though.

Also, critics have speculated that insurance carriers and health care providers, may face higher taxes (or smaller pay-outs on claims).

For good reason, throngs of protesters mobbed Capitol Hill tonight, with the cry of the day.

"Just vote no!"

Their shouts fell on deaf ears, though, as lawmakers and regulators (and a gallery brimming with attentive spectators) focused on the important business at hand.

In fact, the "framers" of the Health Insurance Reform Bill, compared their efforts to those of the past achievements of U.S. greats who crafted the legislation for Social Security and Medicare.

"This is the civil rights act of the 21st century," boasted Representative Jim Clyburn on behalf of  the state of South Carolina.

Others took a dismal view of what they deemed a fiasco and a fraud upon the people.

"We have failed to listen to America," wailed Representative John Boehner of Ohio.

Consequently, he vowed to launch a nasty fight for control of Congress in the mid-term elections.

Medicaid, the federal-state health care program for the poor will be affected, too.

Coverage would be required for incomes at the Federal poverty level.

Also, coverage for childless adults would kick-in for the first time starting in 2014.

The insurance industry will now have to come to grips with regulation by virtue of the Government's newly-instated jurisdictional powers.

Carriers would be forbidden from placing lifetime dollar limits on policies, from denying coverage to children due to  pre-existing conditions, or canceling policies when a policyholder falls ill unexpectedly.

Parents would be able to keep children up to age 26 on their family insurance plans (which represents a three year extension).

A new high-risk pool would offer coverage to uninsured people with medical problems until 2014.

In the 11th hour, Obama's team struck an accord with anti-abortion lawmakers, that succeeded in lifting a long-standing stumbling block in the final stretch of the negotiations.

The President issued an executive order pledging that no Federal funds would be used for elective abortion, which satisfied Rep. Bart Stupak of Michigan and a posse of like-minded pro-lifers.

On the sidelines, opinions varied as to whether the reform bill was a move forward, or not.

"I know this bill is complicated, but it's also very simple," asserted House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) in a bold-faced effort to smooth over waters with the disgruntled few who complained about the complexities of the reform bill.

"Illness and infirmity are universal, but we are stronger against them together than we are alone. In that shared strength is our nation's strength."

On the threshold of Barack Obama's victory, Representative John Kline (R-Minn.) expressed frustration.

"Perhaps it's time for Washington to stop talking and start listening. I'm listening to the thousands of citizens who traveled to our nation's capital this weekend to tell us, in no uncertain terms, they want us to kill this bill."

Others were jubilant when the winning vote was cast.

"This is a historic day and we are happy warriors," Representative John Larson (D-Conn.) beamed to CNN reporters.

To some Republicans, it was a hollow victory.

"This trillion-dollar tragedy is just bad medicine," Rep. Lee Terry (R-Neb.) said.

At the top of the news hour, reports are already flooding in, in respect to the potential ramifications (both negative and positive).

Sarah Palin...$100 thousand tea party speech bid for Presidency! Nervous Ice Queen strikes chord...

Scarlett Lady appears at Tea Party Convention for big bucks!

The horse everyone was betting on trotted out of the gate and sped down the well-beaten track at a good pace for about twenty minutes or so, inspired a few heartfelt emotions that sent the frenzied ticket-holders to their feet roaring approval, then sadly stumbled and lost her way momentarily just before catching stride at the finish line.

Too late?

The event was much-ballyhooed.

Sarah Palin - fresh off a couple of scandals - stridently made her way out onto the stage amidst wild applause to deliver a key note speech with a $100,000.00 price tag at the Tea Party's first National Convention.

And, when you consider the cost to supporters, it was evident - that contrary to Palin's assertions - the high-profile event was not populist but elitist instead.

Attendees paid through the nose ($549 a pop) to sit up-front and egg the tarted-up broad on (do you suppose the clothes were rented once again?).

That, they sure as heck did.

On more than one occasion, a cross-section of American voters jumped to their feet, and vigorously flaunted their approval.

And, at the end of her speech, thunderous applause was followed by a chant that swept all up in the heady moment.

"Run Sarah. Run Sarah. Run Sarah. Run!"

Palin's second bite at the apple?

You betcha!

Frankly, I think she should let sleeping Polar Bears ly.

The perky little bundle of energy started off the night's farce with a round of thanks and got tea party tottlers all  warm and tingly inside when she used a myriad of hokey moments laced with soppy sentimentality to lure everyone into the fold.

"God Bless America. It's Great to be an American," she shouted out to the effervescent supporters.

"Do you love Freedom," she quizzed the excited throngs in the packed house.

"I salute all the men in uniform."

When servicemen in the crowd responded with a boisterous roar, she beamed.

"Thank you."

Tongue in cheek, the former Alaskan Governor welcomed C-Span.

"You weren't invited to the Health reform summits, but glad to have 'ya here," she sang out like a cheerful little songbird.

The spitfire facilitated all the gimmicks within her greedy grasp to nab the attention of folks from the heartland who tend to wear the old red white and blue on their sleeves.

In a nutshell, the Republican icon described tea party advocates as real people (not politicos, oh no!) with common sense conservative principles

Out-of-the blue she cried out enthusiastically:

"Happy Birthday, Ronald Reagan."

Do you suppose she knows he's dead?

Of course, she would have been remiss in her duties if she neglected to thank the TP's host city.

Nashville has sweeter tea, she teased, after noting Alaska sipped on their own brand of Ice Tea.

Judging  from the response of the locals, something mind and mood altering must have been surreptiously slipped into the mix.

Drunk with adoration?

When Palin gave kudos to Scott Brown, she melted into a gooey-eyed teen with a schoolgirl crush.

"He was just a guy with a truck (and a  penchant for posing nude) who realized one day that things were not right."

She theorized it was the grass roots route that landed him in the Senator's seat in Massachusetts.

And, shortcomings on the part of the Democrats, that cinched the deal.

Washington needs to stop lecturing and start listening, she undersccored to the hyped-up crowd below the floodlights, with an obvious sly reference to Barack Obama and his methodology.

In fact, she boldly accused Obama, Pelosi, and Reid of being involved in an agenda that was out-of-touch.

"There are big problems around this country," she cried out with passion.

At this juncture, a quiver in her voice revealed that she was - in fact - nervous.

Perhaps that is why she raced through the speech - in a running-off-at-the-mouth kind-of-style - without stressing any of the salient points with a hand gesture, for instance, which may have rustled up a smidgen of eloquent drama often achieved by the greats such as former President John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King.

Suddenly, without warning, a lack of reading and comprehension skills interrupted her flow (and crediblity) as she headed down to the finish line.

It turned out to be a dead give-a-way.

For example, on two or three unfortunate occasions, she tripped up when words failed to flow trippingly off the tongue.

In fact, as she attempted to regain balance and composure, it was obvious to moi that Palin was not the sole author of the speech!

Clearly, she contributed a couple of folksy quips, but the bulk of the attention-getter was obviously put together by a clever speech writer out to tie up all the loose strings required to deliver up a neat and tidy package.

The invisible hand behind-the-secnes whipped up a couple of notions that resonated.

For instance, McCain's former running mate noted that politicians with the best ideas, would surely win out.

In that regard, she noted that a candidate should put their faith in their ideas and realize that  in the final analysis, the Tea Party was not a top-down operation but a ground-up call to action.

Palin also focused on "the people" a lot.

"This is about the people," she assured the attentive audience in one segment of the speech.

"People have to change the way of doing business in Washington," she predicted for the future.

In a slap at Obama, she elaborated that a charismatic guy with a teleprompter wasn't going to cut it.

In contrast, she hailed Tea Party members who got involved - went to town hall meetings - penned op eds, etc.

Right on cue, she criticized the political double-talk.

Palin thought it disingenuous that the war was referred to by the Democrats as an overseas contigency operation (which sucked big time to her).

"National security has to call it the way it is."

At this juncture, she leapt into full-frontal attack on the events of Christmas-day past.

Security did not work!

Palin got quite a reaction when she expressed her annoyance over one particular aspect in the aftermath.

"Before the terrorist was interrogated, he seized on our 1st Amendment Rights, and pled the fifth," she raged in so many words.

In what amounted to a low blow, Palin hurled a biting criticism in the President's direction, that must have stung.

"We need a commander-in-chief - not a professor of Law - standing at the lecturn."

APPLAUSE!

The keynote speaker sequed into the issue of foreign affairs momentarily, too.

"We need a policy so that we can recognize friends from enemies."

Although many politicians are afraid to broach touchy subjects (which may lose votes) Palin had no qualms stating for the record that Iran should be sanctioned.

The shop-a-holic (keen on blowing other people's wads) quoted Barry Goldwater at one point.

"We're not conquered just by bombs, but also neglect."

American must stand with peoples and democracies which reflect our values and interests - was one comment - that touched a chord also.

"Foreign policy is not about resolving personalities."

APPLAUSE!

How about winning popularity contests?

That is right up the former Ice Queen's hunting trail.

Norm's Restaurant...the pulse of American heartbeat! Artery-clogging chow...

Years ago, Norm's restaurant used to be the place to drop into for breakfast in WeHo.

There were fringe benefits, after all.

Just next door, a stream of hot body-builders flowed through Todd Tramp's gym for concentrated work-outs daily, then usually ended up at Norm's next door for a plate of chow.

Yes, the eye candy was enough to make the senses swoon!

Norm's is well-known for its breakfast combos - one of which, the Four Deuces - consists of two fluffy pancakes, two eggs (as you like 'em) and double portions of bacon strips (crispy!) and sausage links (real greasy, dudes!).

The T-bone steak 'n eggs special (teamed with a side order of biscuits and gravey) is a popular special, too, at reasonable cost.

Truckers, pensioners, and grunt workers pop in often - in part due - to the generous servings and a bottomless coffee jug (with the worst watered-down java in town).

Of course, the high-calorie vein-clogging bill-of-fare here, was always a no-no for the jocks and the lifters from Tramp's gym, especially when they were in training for an upcoming competition.

The fat-conscious buffed dudes were more inclined to gobble up scrambled eggs made with whites only, cottage cheese, fresh fruit of the season, and lean entrees that provided nutrition and energy.

Smart body fuel, in the final analysis.

Unfortunately, when Tramp's gym was shut-down, the passing parade moved on.

If a hungry dude saunters into Norm's Restaurant on La Cienega Blvd these days, he'll likely notice right-off-the-bat, the once-thriving fiftie's-style diner is a pretty dismal eatery to alight in during the course of the day and into the early evening.

After midnight, when nightclubs are in full swing up and down the club strip, things can still get frenzied and lively though.

Occasionally, when I am in Santa Monica, I'll drop in to the location on Lincoln Boulevard for a bite to eat.

My waistline can tolerate the food offered up provided it is not on a regular daily or weekly basis.

If you want to know what middle America is thinking, or are inclined to check the pulse of the common Joe, just listen in on one of the coversations going down at the counter at Norm's.

Yesterday, I sat there amused, as I took in all the banter these working stiffs were offering up.

"I know you're a democrat. So,  'ya won't mind at all if I knock  George Bush," one dude chortled to a rapt audience hanging on every word.

"He belongs in jail," another quipped.

"And, not even a good one. One in Yemen," he added with a dash of glee as a ubiquitous gold chain caught the early morning sun and sent a million little rainbows this way 'n that.

In response, another rabble-rouser levelled an insult at the former President, too.

"Bush is a Nazi."

The diners roared in response.

I was quite surprised to hear one man admit that he actually voted for George W.

Americans smear Bush a lot, but rarely ever admit they put an x by his name, first time out at the polling booth.

Curious, because he got into office, didn't he?

Someone must have voted for the man.

"Reagan was just as bad. He ruined the Unions," another man piped in when the laughter subsided a tad.

The saviour, Barack Obama, did not escape criticism either.

After a brief conversation about Social Security and Benefits - and a spirited discussion about collecting SS checks early - one dude accused Obama of the unthinkable.

"He's dipping into Social Security to pay the bills. You'd better collect now because the money may not be there when you retire," another cynic joked.

Chances are if they continue to eat the high cholesterol blue-plate specials at Norm's, they'll  keel over and die of a heart attack long before then.

I don't know if it was a tall tale - or an exaggeration - but one toothy overweight driver boasted that he was pulling in $110,000.00 a year (plus) delivering packages for UPS (or was it Fedex?).

Pretty good pay for unskilled grunt work, eh?

At this point, someone recognized me at my perch across the counter, and a little bit of whispering started up all around me.

As they grew silent (worried that I might quote them?), I realized I'd gleened all that I could for posterity's sake.

So, I headed out, with a grin on my face.

Yup.

Norm's, is a piece of Americana, where you can check the pulse of the heartbeat of the Nation.

The period architecture is worth taking a gander at, too.

Anne Kilkenny...e-mail offensive to Palin? Zimbio leaked it...

Sour notes...

The first day Anne Kilkenny's e-mail started to worm its way around the Internet, Zimbio (where my blog is fed to) posted it right away for web surfers to take a gander at.

When I first perused the little missive (!), I thought it was a hoax.

Because word about Sarah Palin's past indiscretions were leaking out each new day the sun rose on the horizon, I figured the unexpected reveal was a public relations ploy to release a bit of the dirty laundry to lessen the impact when the media got wind of it.

Actually, I don't know what the fuss is all about, either.

Once I figured the e-mail was legit, I was a little put off by the fact that it was so passive, in its approach.

I mean, voters appear to either love Sarah or hate her.

In Kilkenny's expose (if you will), I found her discussion about the various issues raised, to be balanced.

The Alaskan resident - now being referred to as a gadfly - criticized where she felt it was due and gave credit where it appeared there should be some.

When I read in the morning paper that Ms. Kilkenny received a lot of vitriolic hate mail on the heels of its release on the Internet, I was surprised.

The e-mail communication amounted to milquetoast to me.

Apparently, some "attackers" have hurled insults her way, too.

One Palin supporter was inclined to accuse the middle-aged mother of being jealous of the former beauty Queen, for instance, for not having been the most popular school girl in class herself.

Oh, pooh!

Why do people always have to resort to kitchen-table psycho-analysis?

Voters should accept the fact Kilkenny tried - as best she knew how - to shed some light on Sarah.

Nothing more. Nothing less.

Good on her!

Sarah Palin...extremist views trouble for McCain!

Palin breeders...

A couple of days ago I penned a post noting that Sarah Palin may lose her bid for VP because of her ignorance about global warming.

As usual, a couple of readers who responded "anonymously", demonstrated their inability to read and comprehend English.

I was not suggesting that her stance on the topic of "global warming" in-of-itself would turn voters away - but rather - her "ignorance" about the scientific facts which clearly establish the woman is "stupid".

Do American voters really want someone dumber than Dan Quayle holing up on Pennsylvania Avenue in these troubling times?

Notwithstanding, her views on the subject do - however - rustle up one more strike against her among a few she has racked up.

For example, her position on abortion is skewered.

While many are inclined to support a candidate who is opposed to abortion - the fact that the Ice Queen won't budge in the event of a rape or birth arising from incest - underscores what an extremist she is.

A hard-core nut case, in fact.

Meanwhile, I expect that she'll continue to spread her legs and plop out babies 'til doomsday.

No, Palin is not educated about birth control, either!

Speaking of education - the mother of five - is entertaining the lofty idea of teaching "creationism" in schools.

Is the subject matter to be foisted on the students in a Bible-style study group?

Or - will there be a scientific approach to the material - along the lines of those courses that broach the topic of Darwinism in learning institutions already?

By the way, Sarah, will these fire-side chats be from an exclusive Christian point of view?

Or, will the curriculum you've mapped out include perspectives on other religions such as Judaism and Buddhism?

I expect there will be a chapter on Mormonism, too. How about Scientology?

In the event Palin is keen on discussing the issues in detail - well - I'm sure voters will be all ears.

Since the Vice Presidential hopeful is from a backwater neck-of-the-woods, her reluctance to recognize "gay partnerships" doesn't surprise many, either.

I expect Palin's image of a gay man is the stereotypical one, after all.

Correct me if I'm wrong - but I expect in your mind's eye, Sarah - the local town fag is a hairdresser with a limp wrist who toils away eight hours a day to make split ends meet.

No matter.

You're perceived as a red-neck, gun-toting, environment-trasher - who prays on Sunday - and stabs friends, business associates, and neighbours in the back the rest of the week.

Why do I say that?

After Palin was announced as McCain's running mate, reporters from various news organization scrambled to get the "goods" on her.

According to a couple of journalists, Ms. Palin is known to be quite a mean and vindictive person.

After she clawed her way to the top - those who crossed her along the treacherous climb - suffered dire consequences afterwards.

Palin sounds like a real cu**, doesn't she?

In the event she lands in the White House, McCain's handlers will have to keep foreign leaders out of her stormy way, especially around that "time" of the month.

With her mean streak, in a testy moment, she's bound to push the panic button and blow us all to kingdom-come.

But, she doesn't just vent her anger on humans.

Palin actually sued the Federal Government in a sick self-serving effort to wrangle polar bears off of the endangered species list.

Yup, she's a real Christian, alright.

A hypocrite all the way!

Her ties to the "oil industry" (her hubbie works for BP Oil) may also pose a serious conflict of interest down the rocky political road ahead.

Frankly, in my opinion, McCain needs his head examined.

His choice of Palin for a side-kick was quite a reach.

Even for a man who is inclined to remain in Iraq for the next hundred years!

John McCain...picks "hockey mom" extremist for VP ticket. Sarah who?

Sarah sets sights on ice - um - glass ceiling!

When the breaking news splashed across plasma screens around the country - for most Americans tuning in - the media jolt was startling.

Uh-huh!

On the heels of an announcement by the balmy ex-fighter pilot - that Sarah Palin was plucked up from relative obscurity to be his toasty second-in-command - voters were left scratching their heads.

Was this a clever ploy by McCain to gender ingest his political landscape?

Or - was it just a whimsical "throw of the dice" - calculated to blast wide-open a glass ceiling fraught with a million cracks by virtue of Hillary Clinton's failed bid for the Vice Presidency?

Meanwhile - a handful of frenzied analysts in the mainstream media - theorize that McCain's surprise "turn-of-the-screw" is a bold-faced effort to snatch up votes that are most surely twisting in-the-wind at the behest of disenchanted suburban housewives.

Think twice, buster.

As one Congresswoman quipped this morning,

"Sarah Palin is no Hillary Clinton."

In spite of it - pundits are now pouring over her qualifications like flies on sh** - what little there is of 'em.

In fact - one news anchor laughingly noted - she resorted to perusing Wikipedia to get a take on the former Ice Queen who holds sway as Governor of Alaska.

For those who accuse that McCain is in thick with the oil big-wigs - Palin taking a shot at the VP ticket - amounts to a stake in their heart.

Palin's husband, after all, holds a top-level position at BP Oil.

Notwithstanding, Ms. Palin has been stridently arguing to anyone within earshot - that drilling for oil in Alaska is not only conceivable - but falls way short of threatening wild-life environmentalists and animal activists are concerned about.

In sum, it appears McCain chose the "hockey mom" because of her energy expertise!

The out-of-the-blue upstart sure is lacking in the ethics department, though.

No cigar there, for sure.

For those of you not up-to-speed, the Gov is under investigation for unethical conduct which doesn't bode well for McCain or the Republican party out of the starting gate from the get-go.

Unless - their corrupt behind-the-scenes cronies are prepared to do her bidding with the power-elite behind the probe - of course.

In passing, it is duly noted that Palin is 44.

A double-barreled number, eh?

Which reminds me - she's pro-gun - and is a card-carrying member of the NRA.

In leisure hours, she thrills to the scent of blood and pines for the heart-pounding excitement of the hunt.

Stalking and mercilessly slaughtering the Lord's creatures is big in her neck-of-the-woods, I guess.

Given time - she'll be raping the land - left right and center.

On a slow-news day, Palin has managed to stride into the landscape and offer up a lot of juicy fodder to chew on, when hearts and minds would otherwise be idle.

There is a God, Obama!

You snooze, you lose...
