Susan Boyle..."The Gift" No. 1 seller on Billboard!

Susan Boyle has alot to celebrate about this Yuletide season!

Billboard has just reported that her new album - "The Gift" - has topped their charts to soar into the No. 1 spot for the fourth time in the past few weeks (243,000 units snapped up).

To date, total sales now stand at a whopping $1.43 million smackeroos!

Undoubtedly, Boyle's fans have forgiven the English canteuse for the off-color note she sourly hit, while performing a Christmas ditty on Barbara Walter's "The View" last week.

That little glitch in her vocals reminded me of an incident with went down with legendary Judy Garland many moons ago!

Ms. Garland was standing near the edge of a stairwell upstage during a live concert when she suddenly choked - then unexpectedly fell down and went boom - as fans watched on in horror below the floodlights.

Because LA JUDY was known to imbibe a tad - and able to drink the best of 'em under the table - it was speculated (at first glance) that theWizard of Oz legend had been a bit tipsy during the performance.

However, Ms. Garland was adamant - swore up-and-down, in fact - that the nasty rumors were simply not true.

According to Judy Judy Judy - when she threw her mouth open to belt out the chorus - a fly flitted inside her mouth and took her off-guard!

Uh-huh!

No word on what caused Ms. Boyle's fall from Grace, however.

The View...bit**es behaving badly! Walters referees to no avail...

Foaming bit**es rev up ratings on controversial View!

If you reside in the Western Hemisphere - and you lack any discerning taste when it comes to television talk shows - you probably caught the ruckus which erupted this past week on the View - when Bill O'Reilly guested on the popular morning show.

Shortly after Mr. O'Reilly started to cut up and hang "loose" during some back-and-forth patter - two of the regular house bit**es (homely Whoopi Goldberg/has-been comic &  screechy Joy Behar/tacky gossip Queen) - became so incensed that they stomped their foots and stormed off the set in a seething rage.

In response, Barbara Walters was inclined to lament to a cameraman - as he panned her way in desperation - that she was vehemently opposed to what went down minutes earlier.

"That should never happen on this show," she cried out in exasperation.

But, the disgruntled ego-maestros were long gone, and WaWa's huffy critcisms ended up falling on deaf ears.

Later, two of the disgruntled heavyweight TV personalities - Bill O'Reilly and Joy Behar - came out fighting on each of their respective night-time gab fests.

Meanwhile, a bemused Nation gazed on in disbelief.

Seasoned professionals?

Ill-mannered losers, more like it.

Just betcha, the Network ratings went through, though.

President Barack Obama...who does he remind you of?

Who could Barack double for?

Today, one of the trendy tabloid shows was running some footage of Barack Obama - gleaned from his recent appearance on "The View" (which they had skillfully interspersed with a couple of news clips) - when it suddenly hit me like a bolt of lightning!

When all of the hand mannerisms and facial expressions (the posturing, too) seemingly melded together to conjure up one visual image of the President - in the fresh setting there before my eyes - it suddenly dawned on me.

Obama reminded me of an actor from a major feature film.

If I ran the title of the movie by you, could you figure out who it is?

"Being there"

Ring any bells?

Uh-huh!

I am referring to Peter Sellers!

Curiously, there are some parrallels between the film - directed by legendary Hal Ashby - and a day-in-the-life of the President.

In the film, which co-stars Shirley MacLean, a commoner (Sellers) is mistaken for a brilliant philosopher and is invited to the White House to share his thoughts on economic growth and the future of the country.

In a real life scenario, a handful of American voters are hopeful that their candidate for the next term of Presidency - who touts a new "Order of the Day" - is the new Messiah.

Who stars in this transparent role?

President Barack Obama, of course!

Barack Obama...slums on View! Doesn't tweet! Not invited to Chelsea's wedding!

Maybe I should have visited Joy in her dressing room?

After Barbara Walters promised to show her scar from a recent surgery on an upcoming gab fest, Whoopie Goldberg gushed that she was honored to be the first day-time talk-show host to introduce a "sitting" President to a daytime TV audience on the View - after a commercial break - of course!

"Did you think appearing with 5 women who never shut up would be calming," one of the gals quipped, at the top of the much-anticipated coffee clatch on ABC TV.

True to form, before President Obama could utter up a response, a potentially embarassing zinger was fired off his bow.

"Have you ever watched us?"

"Yes," he beamed.

Why?

Because it was one of the morning shows that Michelle watched, he fessed up to delighted viewers, without any qualms.

As Barack settled into the picture-postcard set at the studio, he was also quick to make a keen observation or two.

"These couches are made for little people," he chided, although he managed to glide smoothly into an open space nonetheless, with little ado.

And, it probably didn't escape the attention of audiences from here to Timbuktu, that the Prez was quick to dangle one leg over his knee (an annoying habit rugged critics have found somewhat effeminate in nature).

Then, the chatty fivesome - though noticeably lower-key on this celebrated occasion - probed with kid gloves.

This wasn't intended to be a puff piece, after all.

No, Sir!

Since there appears to have been an all-encompassing focus on - the oil spill, racism, and the Afghanistan wikileaks controversy in recent days - a spunkier Lois Lane wondered aloud if the Obama family still engaged in a weekly round of "the rose and the thorn" at home as once was their tradition.

"Yes, but since the kids have been away, it has just been with Michelle."

So, what was a "rose", of late?

A couple of days in Maine bike-riding and hiking, naturally.

Though labelled a bit girlish by a posse of Generals - at heart - Obama is a down-to-earth out-doorsy person (or so it would appear).

When the topic focused on the children, and his relationship with them, he laughed.

"They aren't teenagers yet, so they still like their parents."

Although the children are just 9 and 13 years of age, respectively, Obama stressed - on the other hand - that they were rife with opinions and bubbling over with ideas at this juncture in their innocent lives.

With a little delicate probing, the outgoing fivesome managed to ferret up some heartfelt sentiments from the President, too.

"I've been amazed at how resilient the American people can be," he noted cheerfully.

"It wasn't tough for me, though. When I reflected on what people have been through, I drew inspiration from that."

Was there a "thorn" in his side in recent months?

"Oh, the things the media focuses on, I don't focus on."

In one poignant moment, he confided that letters he had written to parents - who lost children in the Afghanistan War - gave him more perspective."

Joy Behar - who often tends to be the bitch on wheels - didn't disappoint.

The little spitfire tried to pump the Prez about right wing criticisms, their impact, and what he thought of the way Fox pundits tried to hijack the narrative.

Clever Barack didn't fall into her sly clutches, though.

In response, he quipped that it was Joy's job to fathom that one out.

One of the most humorous quotes?

"Politics is not a bean bag."

A bag of explosive beans, perhaps?

"When times are tough, naturally, a political agument will be going on."

"It's frustrating in one sense. We shouldn't be campaigning all the time. There should be a time to govern, as well."

Without being too pushy, the President managed to tout a handful of his accomplishments, in case it slipped a few housewive's minds at home doing the laundry in-between watching the day-time soaps.

For example, he touched on the strides he's made in health care, financial reform, and advances in the education arena.

But, he was basically humble, bottom line.

"I am not perfect. And, my administration is not perfect," he conceded.

How does he deal with unexpected dramas that arise on a daily basis?

"If it is a fair, I'll listen."

Sounds reasonable, eh?

But, he was quick to note that the 1st lady differed, in that regard.

"Michelle doesn't think any of it is fair."

Ooops!

Barack, you've got some 'splainin' to do when you get back to the big house, just betcha!

It many respects, the President made a lot of sense to moi - in fact - for the most part, I was impressed with his Statesman-man-like approach to dilemmas.

"I prefer to set a positive tone in a debate. It's okay for parties to disagree, but do so without being disagreeable."

Something those gaggle of giggling gals on the View would be wise to take away from the experience, for starters.

It has not escaped his attention that the media likes to be combative and say outlandish things just to stir up the stakes (while boosting the ratings).

"They're Looking for controversy 24/7"

Maybe Obama's slogan should be: cooler heads prevail?

Children have healthier views, he piped up at one point.

Adults tend to have a reptilian side to their brain, he explained.

"If something looks different, we become cautious."

"In the final analysis, we are all Americans, who share many of the same hopes and dreams," he summarized.

"We're all connected."

Maybe his theme song should be:

We are family!

On the subject of music, in one humorous moment - when given a pop culture quiz by gutsy Joy Behar - the President proudly noted that his roster of tunes on his ipod was far-reaching and comprised of a myriad of genres.

"I have Jay-Z.,  Frank Sinatra. Even, Maria Callas."

Any Justin Bieber?

The audience roared.

"No," he sheepishly admitted.

"He did perform at the White House, though. And, I found him to be a fine young man."

In an offbeat moment, Barack acknowledged that he was aware that "Lindsay" was in jail.

Thank God for little mercies.

After being quizzed about the troubled starlet in the slammer - at least he didn't come back with - who?

But, a sort-of Jersey Shore-gate unfolded, when Obama claimed he didn't know who Snooky was!

Clever fact-checkers were on that one licketty-split.

In the past, many may recall that Obama made a joke about the Snooky character in a speech.

Just trying to appear to be hip?

Does he tweet, at least?

"No. I think we have an official Presidential tweet that goes out. But, I expect that it is penned by a twenty-year old somewhere."

Barack admitted to owning a Blackberry, though, in an official capacity.

"Nothing juicy," he chortled, with a tinge of disappointment in his voice???

When the issue of being left out-in-the-cold in respect to an invite to Chelsea Clinton's wedding, Barack was in true form and handled the issue with Grace.

"Obviously, the Clinton's wanted privacy for their daughter's special day. One President at the ceremony is quite  capable of keeping the Secret Service busy."
Quick on the uptake, as usual, Obama noted that no one should expect an invite to his kid's nupitals either.

Tit for tat?

The President argued the point - that if "we" keep pushing and pushing - the economy will slowly get better.

"Once we get our mojo back, things will get going again."

A parting message?

"Don't bet against American workers or American technology."

Or, the power of the morning talk show medium, either.

Though critics voiced their disapproval wide-and-far about the President's appearance on a tawdry morning tabloid-show  - the fodder about the President's appearance has been gobbling up the broadcast and blogosphere airwaves!

Of course, it didn't hurt that blabber-mouth Joy Behar has been spilling the beans about all the behind-the-scenes goings-on down at the studio, to rustle up interest in her night-time show where clips of the landmark interview are slated to broadcast tonight.

"It was like being at the "Ramrod" (gay leather bar) on a Friday night. There were more gay guys there than at a Kathy Griffin concert."

And, what of Obama, the man?

"Oh, he commands attention when he enters a room. Barack cuts a fine swath, indeed."

With an air of vanity about him, perhaps?

When you consider a quip about his grey hair earlier on in the broadcast, I'd say "decidedly so".

He hasn't started walking on water, yet, though.

That's my View, anyhoo!

Barack to slip stash to Lindsay in slammer!

President Obama...to chat up Barbara WaWa on the View! Ploy tto boost popularity?

Chatty Kathys sharpen knives for President's interview!
(Meow)

Barbara Walters will return to the View early this week (after being under the Surgeon's knife) to take advantage of a rare opportunity to interview President Obama.

Uh-huh!

The Commander-in-Chief will alight at ABC's Nework studio on Thursday morning (July 29th) to giggle with the middle-aged gals for a nano-image probe or two.

Wild horses couln't keep WaWa away.

The Grand Dame of night-time prime-time talk has been blessed with memorable one-on-one chats with all the "sitting" Presidents over the past three decades during the dinner hour.

Riding high on a sweeping slipping approval rate - the worst in recent months - it appears that  the Commander-in-Chief intends to breeze into the studo on Thursday with the specific intent of  pooh-poohing the notion that he is out of touch with the needs of Americans around the country.

When the BP oil spill first erupted, for instance,Obama was accused of failing to take prompt action - content instead - to allow the Execs at the Corporate Entity to resolve the crisis on their own.

His tendency to fly to exotic locales, and hob-knob with the powerful elite (while stressed-out Americans struggled to make ends meet at home in the wake of the tragedy) infuriated some.

But, it wasn't until the President shouted out to his lowly handlers - "Plug that damn hole' - that it was obvious Obama might be losing his grasp.

Will Barbara be content to pose the following question:

"If you were a tree, what kind of tree would you be?"

Or choose to go for the jugular, instead, on key issues which have resulted in his diminishing popularity.

I expect there will a lot of small polite talk - ranging from Obama's favorite leisure time activity, to heartwarming focuses on memories of his own childhood, whether he considers himself a  good parent, and-so-forth and-so-on.

Is President Barack Obama one of the most fascinating people in America today?

Ms. WaWa will render her opinion (no doubt!) at the coffee clatch the next morning when Obama is safely out-of-harm's way.

I expect that Americans - in general - may come away with fascinating personal information top-secret 'til now and answers to the following deep questions.

What is your favorite color, Mr. President?
Did you regret passing up a shot at a Professional Basketball career?

The View...Blagojevich wearing a rug?

When embattled Governor Rod Blagojevich appeared on a gab fest (The View) yesterday - to plead his case on the heels of a call for his impeachment - one of the ball*y dames jockeying for the limelight couldn't resist mussing up the politician's lustrous locks.

Contrary to what most viewers thought, though, Joy Behar was not hot-to-trot.

On the contrary!

Spies report that after she ran her fingers through Blagojevich's "do", she made a flippant quip behind his back.

"It's not a rug!"

Blagojevich is riding high in a swirl of controversy since his arrest last month on Federal corruption charges which allege that the colorful public figure tried to sell Obama's former Senate seat to the highest bidder.

In spite of the seriousness of impeachment hearings currently underway, the Governor chose not to appear before the Senate to defend his actions in a legal proceeding he has essentially labelled a "Kangaroo Court."

Notwithstanding, Blagojevich appears to have seen the writing on the wall, though.

When asked about his future in the wake of the scandal, he was inclined to wax politically.

"Well, I think it's not very promising right now."

Do 'ya think?

David Brin once said:

"It is said that power corrupts, but actually it's more true that power attracts the corruptible."

The View...hell hath no fury!

After a brouhaha erupted over the air waves last night - on the heels of a nasty cat-fight which busted out on the View earlier in the day when writer Ann Coulter made an appearance on the incestuous gab fest - I was reminded of an old truism.

Hell hath no fury like 5 women scorned, eh?

Barack Obama...smarter than a fifth grader?

Ah, I see that McCain has igored Barack's criticism about the ad campaign that poked fun at the the democratic hopeful's celebrity, and thrown together another splashy barb to broadcast over the airwaves.

Wait a minute, what say?

The new blitz on Television - featuring the chatty gals from "The View" and Steve Carell on "Saturday Night Live" - was tossed into the "McCain-O-Sphere" by Barack's upright ethical team?

Oh, right. There's the imfamous hug!

You mean to say that in spite of the fact Barack chastised McCain for poking fun at his "oneness" - and scolded that such antics amounted to grade school tactics - that Barack's campaign team went copycat anyway?

Talk about hypocrisy.

Barack, "Aren't you smarter than a fifth grader?"

Whoopi Goldberg..."Dummy" at Wax Museum better-dressed than View star!

A manly apparition on the "View"

As I strolled past the wax museum on my way to the Venetian Hotel, I was taken aback when I spied Whoopi Goldberg's "Dummy" propped up out front of the museum for all the tourists to take a gander at.

The wax rendering was better-dressed than Ms. Goldberg has ever managed to be!

Heh, Whoopi, you've got to charter a wide-load bus and zip on down to Vegas to rustle up some fashion tips from the curator.

Those clown outfits you've been wearing on the "View" - with the padded shoulders, wild zany ties, and offbeat shoes - have gotta go!

Dummies wax poetic at Madame Tussaud's in Las Vegas...
