Justin Bieber...man-to-man with Coach Mike Gundy! All about "Ringtones", dudes!

Justin Bieber and football coach Mike Gundy (Oklahoma State) strange bedfellows?

Not exactly!

But, the winsome twosome have struck up a healthy "Ringtone" admiration Society!

'Ya see, the teen heartthrob caught wind of Gundy's rant.

"Come After me! I'm a Man! I'm 40!"

Needless to say, the pop flavor of the month thought it was a laugh riot.

So, quick as a wink (and the bashing of a pretty eyelash later) the "Bieb" downloaded the catchy mantra onto his high-tech cell with the red-hot private number.

Needless to say, Gundy jumped on the kid's bandwagon when the scuttlebutt hit his ear - by installing a "Ringtone" of the Bieb's hit single - "Baby".

I guess, there's something about a man in a uniform!

What's goin' on in-between the designer sheets?

Justin Bieber...a quick wit! Feature Flick "Never say Never" to debut!

Turns out that Justin Bieber is not only a cutie oozing with good looks and talent, but a quick wit, too!

Who knew?

When asked by a gushing Entertainment Tonight reporter if he would ever shave his head for a part in a flick he could sink his teeth into, he was pretty fast on the uptake.

"Sure.  Hair will grow back," he grinned.

No doubt, like Elvis before him, the locks would sell for a pretty song.

Gold-digging gals (and guys) may be unhappy to hear - though - that striking up a hot-and-heavy affair with the young Pop Star may be a daunting task to wangle.

Why, pray tell?

The "Bieb" confessed that his handlers (and family and friends) are keen on protecting the talented heartthrob from unwanted advances and potentially negative influences that may prove to be disruptive as the young musician continues his rise into the pop stratosphere.

Undoubtedly, his stock will soar higher next week, once his much-anticipated film - Never Say Never - premieres on February 11th (2011).

Though Bieber swears up-and-down that there is no one special in his love life just now, he intends to saunter out on Valentine's Day, nonetheless.

In search of true love?

"I may surprise fans by showing up at a movie theatre," he chuckled, with a mischievous glint in his eyes.

Just betcha, the kid is hot-to-trot.

Raging hormones - and all that - uh-huh!

Thank God for yummy distractions as ominous clouds hang over the horizon on distant foreign shores - which remain troubling to Americans - none-the-less.

By the way, Justin is featured on a Super Bowl commercial this Sunday.

It may be one of those rare occasions when folks around the Nation actually wait for the commercial breaks instead of running off to the bathroom to the water closet (English term, dudes!) to relieve themselves.

Catch it if you can!

Super Bowl...Christina Aguilera to perform! Cold snap par-tay blues!

A cold snap that hit the Dallas area this past week with a vengeance has dampened the spirits of some football fans.

Last night barkeeps and staff at trendy watering holes stood idle and bemoaned the fact that there were quite a few "no-shows" on the pub-crawl circuit which resulted in a big slump in sales on the eve of the big game.

But, despite Mother Nature's awesome fickle finger of fate, it will be business as usual under the big top on Sunday afternoon when the much-anticpated sports event gets underway.

Christina Aguilera will hit the stage to warble the National Anthem in true show-biz tradition to a packed house at the commencement of the festivities.

After all, the show must go on, eh?

In addition to Aguilera, there will be a live performance by Black Eyed Peas at half-time.

Super Bowl XLV pits the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Green Bay Packers - two rough-and-tumble capable teams - out to best each other in a match that is sure to be unforgettable.

However, bookies appear to favor the Packers by 2½.

According to inside sources, the price-tag for a 30-second commercial is a whopping $2.8 - $3 million.

Super Bowl XLV will be the 45th annual edition of the Super Bowl in American football and the 41st annual championship game of the modern-era National Football League (NFL).

On Sunday afternoon - power willing - millions of Americans are expected to tune in from around the country and rustle up a staggering ratings bonanza.

See 'ya there!

Twitter...take a hike says Boise State Football coach! What a twit...

Twit @ Boise State causes tweeters to titter!

Obviously, a grid iron enthusiast strapped on his jock strap too tight.

Why else would the blood be restricted from flowing to his brain?

Say what?

You figure it out.

The Idaho Statesman has reported that the Boise State coach - Chris Petersen - banned players from posting on Twitter for the duration of the football season.

Why, pray tell, did the Twitter craze  incur his wrath?

According to Petersen, posting on the social networking hub, is a distraction the team doesn't need.

My knee-jerk reaction?

What a twit!

A competent coach - with an ounce or two of football savvy - is what they truly need.

And, a lift on the ban, San Francisco-style!

Los Angeles Times..gets it wrong on Superbowl commercials!

Each week, the Los Angeles Times publishes a feature in the weeklend section of the daily, in which they mouth off about what is overrated and what is not.

In today's Sunday edition staff writers were inclined to lament that Super Bowl commercials were underrated.

Huh?

Actually, the complete opposite is true, if you are to believe the intense frenzied traffic on the Internet that proliferated during and after the highly-watched sports event.

In fact, at Yahoo and Alexa,  the  searches were so staggering, that the subject of  Super Bowl commercials was propelled into the golden heights of the top ten list.

Nowithstanding, earlier in the evening I also noticed links on a couple of well-travelled web sites inviting web surfers to play back those precious thirty-second-jolts of advertising which satiated a Nation's hungry for a bit of laughter in the midst of troubled storms that have been wearing us all down on all fronts of late.

Wake up, dudes!

When I was a kid, commercial break was the occasion to dash off to the water closet and take a whiz, rustle up a tasty snack, pick your nose (whatever).

To quote  one of the most successful slogans Madison Avenue ever came  up with:

"You've come a long way, baby!"

Super Bowl...Bruce Springsteen & Stones best half-time gigs! Saints nab trophy...

Springsteen top vote-getter in poll!

Halftime Super Bowl performances have become legendary musical events over the years.

So, of course, pollsters at the Los Angeles Times were inclined to pose a question to their readers.

"Who had the best Super Bowl halftime show?"

Within days, there was a frenzied response from fans, keen to lodge their favorites.

The winner hands down?

Why, Bruce Springsteen, naturally!

After all, his hit - Born in the USA - is right up there with football as a prominent symbol of American Culture.

When the numbers were tackled Springsteen boasted a 10,000 vote lead in popularity, and thus, managed to squeak by Jagger and the other long-haired English blokes in his musical circle with ease.

U2's crescendo amounted to a palty 114 decibels - er - votes.

In the same scientific poll (!) 59 percent have speculated that the tough Saints will nab the prize.

The Colts are predicted to score big with 47 percent of the votes in their favor.

Moi?

I am always glued to the old  boob tube praying  for a wardrobe snafu to brazenly unveil some nubile flesh!

Play ball!

Brett Favre shocks fans & NFL. Retires from football...again!

When I flipped on ESPN for all-the-world it appeared there was an obituary underway!

Clips of a professional athlete's illustrious 18-year career on the gridiron, a run of impressive stats sure to make any young all-star football wanna-bee cream his jockstrap, and a few teary-eyed moments when pent-up emotions were inclined to slip to the surface unexpectedly and speak volumes about the man.

Of course, all the airwaves were awash with the news, too.

Brett Favre plucked up his cell bright and early this morning and informed the managers and owners of the Jets that he was quitting football - again!

The news media breathed a sigh of relief!

Maybe the mercurial Favre finally meant it?

"He's fooled us so many times," one reporter chortled.

But, many are tittering that this is surely the end to a brilliant stretch on the field, at long last.

Of course, there is the issue of Favre's age.

Off-season, a player needs time to recover from injuries.

With the older dudes, well, the process takes longer.

Has Favre been struggling to meet the challenge?

Maybe that's where performance-enhancing drugs come into play for a handful of desperate athletes?

"For an older football-player, it's tough," one commentator opined.

After all, football - sports enthusiasts lament - is a year-round game.

Yeah, the players may have a few weeks off, but they're back on the field shortly thereafter interacting with their team-mates, getting all-primed-up and ready to charge forward in the upcoming season.

"It's all about timing and chemistry. If the quarterback isn't going to show off-season for the practices, it's bad for the morale of the team."

Some speculated that coaches, managers, and team owners weren't going to afford major players such luxuries in the future.

As to Favre's retirement, does the pro stud mean it this time?

Insiders speculate that this is definitely the closing chapter of an exciting football career - fraught with highs and lows - but one that assures Favre a memorable place in the prestigious annals of Football History.

According to Wikipedia

Favre was the first player to win the AP MVP three times (1995–97) in NFL history, and led the Packers to seven division championships in 1995, 1996, 1997, 2002, 2003, and 2007, four NFC Championship Games in 1995, 1996, 1997, and 2007, two NFC Championships (1996 and 1997) , and one Super Bowl Championship (XXXI).

He holds a number of NFL records including: most career touchdown passes (464), most career passing yards (65,127), most career pass completions (5,720), most career pass attempts (9,280), most career interceptions thrown (310), most consecutive starts among NFL quarterbacks (269; 291 total starts including playoffs), and most career victories as a starting quarterback (169).

The handsome jock wasn't any slouch on the field, that's for sure.

One sportscaster enthused:

"He played hard, won championships, and gave it his all."

What now for Favre?

Another comeback (didn't think I'd really flake out, did 'ya dudes?), endorsements - just maybe - sports-casting duties?

It's written in the wind that flew beneath his cleats!

O.J. Simpson...guilty! Las Vegas jury convicts...

Just before 11 p.m. last night, the verdict was read by the Jury foreman.

"Guilty!"

A panel of nine women and three men deliberated more than thirteen hours before rendering their decision.

Mr. Simpson, and his accomplice - Clarence Stewart - were convicted on twelve counts stemming from a much-publicized armed robbery and kidnapping incident which took place last year in Las Vegas (NV).

After the verdict was read, the Heisman Trophy winner was cuffed by a deputy and led away to await sentencing.

Although there were three weeks of testimony to sift over, insiders say it was a handful of secret audio recordings, that probably turned the screws on O. J. Simpson and his partner in crime, Clarence Stewart.

The tapes were damning, for sure.

The defense attorney's argument that the altercation - which took place in a hotel room in the gambling mecca in the desert oasis - was simply a botched attempt to recover memorabilia stolen from Mr. Simpson just didn't fly.

"You may all say he didn't use common sense. But the real issue is whether he had criminal intent to commit a crime," attorney Yale Galanter argued in closing statements.

The prosecutors, on the other hand, managed to convince the jury that the armed robbery was masterminded by Simpson who called upon five disreputable ruffians to carry out his nefarious plan.

The state established in the eyes of the jury that Simpson and his cohorts robbed the victims at gunpoint after they were tricked into thinking they were going to savor a windfall sale with a wealthy collector.

Chris Owens, the State prosecutor on the case, convincingly argued that "they thought they could spin it" because - after all - it was Simpson's stuff anyway.

The jury found differently.

O. J. maintained he never saw any guns during the shake-down - in spite of the fact witnesses testified at trial that they packed two revolvers that day - a .45 caliber Ruger and a .22 caliber Beretta - at Simpson's request.

But, it was probably a twenty-six minute encounter which was slyly taped after the ballsy robbery, that probably did the former NFL player in.

One of the gunman met with Simpson at a local restaurant after the robbery and was questioned as to whether he "pulled out the piece" in the hotel hallway.

Simpson was anxiety-stricken over the possibility that the overt act may have been captured on the Hotel's security cameras for future referenc.

Clearly, Simpson was trying to determine if there was any evidence on tape establishing the brandishing of guns, so he could tailor his defense accordingly.

During the course of the trial, friends and business associates turned against Simpson to protect their own hides.

In return for becoming state witnesses, four of the accused were permitted to plead guilty on lesser charges.

The counts of armed robbery and kidnapping against Simpson and Stewart carry potential life sentences.

Raiders..Davis & Kiffin. He said! He said!

Sure Pops, whatever you say...

Well, it had all the appeal of a train wreck.

Smacked of a messy divorce, perhaps?

Funny that.

If two women get into a war of words, it's a cat fight alright!

But, when men start to batten down the hatches, they're just posturing.

Didn't 'ya know that?

Nonetheless, Al Davis cited irreconcilable differences for the split.

Yup, Lane Kiffin got sacked.

And - maybe I was mistaken - but it looked like Davis was out to humiliate the young buck on the heels of the dastardly deed.

"When I gave him the news, he asked if that meant he wasn't going to get paid, and I told him yes."

No alimony, dude!

Something to that effect.

According to Davis, Kiffin was guilty of spreading "propaganda" and telling "lies" around the grid.

In sum, Kiffin's conduct - Davis lamented - was unprofessional and showed disrespect.

At one point in the press conference, the owner of the illustrious Raiders, produced a letter (in support of his claims) that was allegedly hand-delivered to Kiffin and followed up with special delivery by Federal Express.

Davis had his gloves on and was ready to face his opponent in the ring.

But, Kiffin wasn't about to lace up.

In a separate interview, at a different location, the green coach scoffed at the letter.

"Just because he put it out for everyone to see doesn't mean anything."

When pointed questions were asked, though, Kiffin was reticent about fessing up to the facts.

After noting that he intended to take appropriate action elsewhere first before spilling the beans to the media, he was adamant about one thing.

"I felt embarrassed for the guy."

Dude, a little late for reverse psychology.

You're the one outta the job, Kiff!

Obviously, the young stud was dishing Davis, and the word got back.

I hand it to the wrinkly old guy for coming out of his corner all spunk and guts.

Ah, just betcha, the young buck thought he could outwit the old codger.

That's what my instinct tells me, anyway.

Kiffin says he wasn't trying to get fired - if not - he's not very big in the smarts department, is he?

Years ago, when I was a naive young man, I started to argue with my boss one day.

In about two seconds flat - I was jolted into reality - when my superior interrupted my rant to enlighten me a tad.

"I'm your boss."

If you can't figure that one out, you're dead on the playing field.

Looks like that's what happened to Kiff!

Tom Brady...ready to play ball!

Brady tackles the media tease...

On ESPN today, Tom Brady expressed regret that he was unable to fumble a few in the pre-season games, but assured football fans that come September, the hunky quarterback will be all primed for the gridiron and ready to toss the pigskin around a bit for the Patriots.

"The mysterious foot injury will make sense at that time," he assured the upbeat sports anchor.

Yeah, he's ready to play ball.

And, what about the night carousing?

Gisele, do tell!

Tom Brady...plugs thirst-quencher with smarts!

Well, the ta ta's had a little somethin' to do with it...

A double-decker sightseeing bus roared around a corner just off tony Rodeo Drive and caught my appreciative eye.

One whole side of the vehicle - packed with rollicking tourists - was splashed with a studly shot of All-Star quarterback Tom Brady alighting from a helicopter with a bottle of "smartwater" in his clenched hand.

Must have been one of those sizzling hot nights!

On the reverse side of the carrier, Tom gets down 'n dirty with rough 'n tumble team-mates, primed and ready to go.

Ah, that smart water.

The trendy liquid not only quenches the thirst, but adds a bit of zip to boot.

Used to be, Gatorade was the "after-drink" of choice to restore electrolytes after a strenuous work-out.

One problem, though.

The lime or cherry-colored magic water was packed with a mountain of sugar!

18 grams, or so, to be exact.

Now, dudes-in-the-know, grab the intelligent stuff.

Must be somethin' else lurking inside that sensual-looking designer bottle.

If the potent potion can keep me up (!) and capable of carousing all night with blond bimbo babes - like Tommy boy - then order me a carton, please!

Now, play ball!

Tom Brady...football stud gets "nookie", at last!

A frenzied pack of paparazzi camped outside of the apartment of top model - Gisele - the other night...and waited for Tom Brady (her hottie overnight guest) to exit the love nest.

Reporters noted it was a tough assignment; but, the coveted prize - titillating footage of Brady descending her stoop in the wee hours of dawn - was worth it.

There wasn't any taxi in sight, fortunately; with Brady's luck, it may have turned out to be the "Cash Cab". So, Brady was forced to walk a gauntlet down the street, as crazed photogs jockeyed for position, in a boisterous effort to land their best shot.

In view of the sheepish grin on his face, it was evident - as the old saying goes - he was "in" like Flynn! Must have been the posies that cinched it!

When the street newsie said - "back to you in the studio" - the anchorman chortled, "There is a fine line between reporting and stalking. I guess we just crossed it."

Not satisfied with that scoop, their news team proceeded to corner Brady's childhood dentist, to get the skinny on the origins of the pro star's dazzling million-dollar smile. Oh-my-God, the staff hauled out old photographs of Brady (chronicles of his bygone youth) - which not only exposed teeth that were crooked - but were toothy enough to require braces.

Imagine that smooch, in a moment of passion, ladies!

"So, I guess the smile is what landed the football star romantic flings with the likes of top models like Gisele," the reporter opined.

With a little grin, the doc responded that Brady, "...has a lot going for him".

I get your drift, doc. After all, everyone knows what a strong overbite means!

In recent days, sports fans - and the public alike - have been overwhelmed by the young stud.

Wonder how the late-night carousing will affect his - um - performance on the field?

Yeah, football is my favorite action sport. I mean, there's somethin' about all those lace up pouches, tight butts, and all that rough-housing and tackling...that resonates in a deep, homo-erotic way.

As to the the V-shaped torsos and the wide shoulders - well - from the looks of those poetic silhouettes in motion on the field, they're virile macho guys, alright.

But what's with all the hugging, and the butt slapping, and tom-foolery in the locker room?

Male bonding? Ah, a tribal ritual - I guess.

Athletes like Beckham and Brady are pretty much a unique sports breed. And, they've got the big bucks, to prove it.

Bottom line, they're highly-skilled warriors (action thrillers), with a dynamite dose of sex appeal thrown into the mix.

Looks like you snared one, Giselle.

Play ball!
