Texas Governor Rick Perry...to run for President? Great choice!

A few days ago I penned a post on Rick Perry - and his ongoing battle with the President - over  the escalating illegal immigrant problem on 1200 miles of unprotected Texas border.

http://ijulian.blogspot.com/2011/05/texas-governor-rick-perryillegal.html

The Texas Governor lamented the fact that President Obama appeared to be looking the other way.

And, for some inexplicable reason, Barack Obama has refused to recognize the urgency of the problem and the growing threat against the fabric of the American way of life if appropriate action is not taken immediately.

As this juncture, an old expression came to mind, that I live by more-often-than-not.

It goes something like this:

"If you want something done, you have to do it yourself!"

So, that begs the question.

Just maybe, Rick Perry is primed-and-ready to run for President in the next election?

A couple of years ago, our paths passed briefly at a red-carpet event at the American Film Institute Festival in Dallas, Texas.

I found Mr. Perry to be quite charismatic.

Notwithstanding, the politician with the dark good looks, carried himself well - too!

I say, give it a shot, Rick!

Levi Johnston...Bristol Palin to wed! Sarah's Presidential bid...

And, baby makes three!

Levi needs re-programming!

A couple of tabloid news shows had a field day last night - speculating on this 'n that - on the heels of an announcement that Levi Johnston and Bristol Palin are reuniting as lovebirds.

In fact, one insider hinted that wedding bells were about to ring out in the Great White North!

Just a short while ago (in-between stripping down to his skivvies and conducting sly cat-and-mouse interviews with trendy rags for the check-out counter at groceries around the country) Johnston was at the Tea Party Queen's throat going for the jugular.

Why the sudden change of - um - heart?

One pundit's assessment was hilarious.

"Levi is sort-of-a - "Jason Bourne" character - a loose cannon about to go off. He needed to be brought in and fully re-programmed for the next phase of the Sarah Palin agenda."

What might that be, pray tell?

A run for the Presidency, natch!

Maybe, Bristol's recenthigh-profile appearance on a popular reality soap, triggered thoughts of following in her pampered foot-steps by virtue of an in-between-the-sheets co-habitation?

Or, just maybe, Levi pined to be to the manor born when he caught site of Bristol's comfy new digs?

Except for his teen sweetheart, there haven't been many prospects for the plotting Lothario, except for a handful of offers from gay magazines - and horny dudes - anxious to get into his scandalous pants.

Some hint that he's been paid off to toe the Palin line.

Inquiring minds want to know!

News at 11.

For her sake, hope he's got a big one!

Punch but no panache!

Sarah Palin...racked up big bucks on shopping spree! Repubs paid through nose...

Republicans had designs on Palin!

She's gonna put us in the poor house!

When the scandal brought last year about Sarah Palin's celebrated make-over (courtesy of the party) - it was assumed that a fashion expert keen on the Republican "image" - rustled up a few select wardrobe pieces for the campaign trail (at which point the parcels were summarily delivered to her Hotet suite in NYC).

On the contrary!

According to John McCain's campaign Manager - Steve Schmidt - Palin was under the impression she was given carte blanche to zip around town to all the toniest boutiques and simply charge away at whim without any budget constraints.

"If Palin's spending on clothes had been  accurately reported during the campaign, the country would have been in an uproar," he sniped in so many words.

At a recent chi chi soiree at the Cut steakhouse( Beverly Hills Wilshire Hotel)  - where celebrated guests included Dolly Parton, Governor Schwarzenegger, Willie Brown and New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd - everyone was all ears when he spilled the beans on Palin on the heels of spiteful comments she made in her book about McCain's right-hand man.

According to Schmidt, her account of things was 100 percent fiction!

Maybe the former ice Queen should be penning dime-store novellas and purple prose?

"She would go into a store, buy everything in sight, and have the bill sent to the Republican National Committee.

"I stopped counting at $250,000.00."

If the clothes were "borrowed" (as the party claimed in their defense) - and turned over to a "charity" -  then some lucky street folks are looking pretty spiffy on the mean streets of the city these days, eh?

Lush scandal kept under wraps!

Jay Leno...Sarah Palin (hilarious) quote of day!

In a one-on-one interview last night on cable, Jay Leno was free-wheeling - and had no qualms about fielding questions - in respect to his new career direction, family life, and plans for the future.

At one point, though, when he was asked his take on the Sarah Palin resignation, he paused a moment to reflect on the issue before responding.

First, he prefaced his response by noting that he didn't quite "get" her reasons for walking away early from her term as Governor of Alaska.

But, he saw light at the end of the tunnel in the event Palin intended to follow through on her aspirations to run for President in 2012.

"Sarah was a contestant in a pageant," Leno started off slowly.

"If she ran for President, it would be the first time a beauty Queen may have the opportunity to realize World Peace."

I nearly fell out of my bed laughing.

But, frankly, it's true!

John McCain...Top Gun! Not. Cocky Pilot? Uh-huh...

Cocky young Maverick flew by seat of pants...

As the reports filter in about John McCain's days as a fighter pilot, the reminisces start to sound a lot like a page or two out of the feature film script - "Top Gun" - which starred Cruise and Kilmer a couple of years back.

There's a lot of talk that Johnny was a real cocky son-of-a-bit**.

Like the character Maverick - in the film - McCain was inclined to push the envelope, fly by the seat of his pants, and take uncalculated risks.

Oftentimes, just like Cruise's character, McCain went down in flames.

And, that is the subject of some debate, now.

In his biography, McCain would prefer to look back - not in anger - but through rose-colored glasses.

But, frankly - to some - his recall of events is shameless.

Or, is he just having a Senior moment?

For instance, the presidential candidate's recollection of events surrounding one hairy airplane mishap, was way out-of-whack.

"The engine quit while I was practising landings," he noted matter-of-fact, on the written parchment.

At least O.J. Simpson was clever enough to try to determine if there were any witnesses to the events before he opened his mouth in defense when his latest fiasco with the law went down in Las Vegas.

In this instant case - an investigator who witnessed the events - is quite adamant there wasn't any inexplicable engine failure as alleged by the wrinkly old dude.

In fact, investigators came to the conclusion that McCain wasn't on the ball.

In the opinion of the experts, the accident occurred because the power setting on the instrument panel was too low to maintain level flight in a turn.

Well, every Maverick is capable of running some interference, now and then.

But three times, you say?

According to informed sources in the Navy, that number is accurate.

In each instance, investigative teams faulted McCain for error in judgment.

It has taken wild horses to drag the facts out of him, though.

In one stinky incident - silly clowning around while operating expensive Government equipment - resulted in a near calamity.

Should American voters give him a crack at Air Force 1?

In a Skyraider aircraft in Southern Spain, for instance, he flew into electrical wires which caused a black-out.

A miscalculation caused a T-2 trainer jet in Virginia to crash, in another incident he downplayed, too.

By Naval standards - the three nail-biting incidents were cause for concern - according to a former air force pilot, Michael L. Barr.

Mr. Barr is an Internationally-known aviation safety expert who teaches at the USC Aviation and Safety Security Program today with 137 combat missions in Vietnam under his belt.

In the case of any pilot - three troubling mishaps - would definitely signal sloppy flying skills and a lack of sound judgement, for sure.

In large part - the problem stemmed from a tendency on the part of McCain - to be overconfident, cocky, and a fearless risk-taker at the Government's expense.

In the final analysis, the ballsy flyer over-estimated his limited skills.

Yup, a swinging di** got in the way.

But, high connections in the right places, prevented McCain from getting the axe.

Because McCain fell under a long line of Admirals in a family way, inestimable privileges were bestowed upon the handsome young buck.

The facts support the contention, today.

On occasion, for instance, McCain savored dalliances at the Captain's table, while fellow officers languished in cramped quarters below deck.

In another glorious Kodak moment, McCain was handed the prestigious task of maneuvering a commemorative landing on the deck of the Enterprise.

Fortunately, he didn't have to bail out last minute.

According to Maurice Rishel - who commanded McCain's VA-64 Squadron in early 1961 when it was deployed in the Mediterranean - the unit nick-named the kid "Ace McCain".

Although he was a spoiled brat (born with a silver spoon in his mouth) he did his job, Rishel confessed without any qualms.

Just like John Kerry before him, foes are getting out the hatchets to bury one in McCain's back, after-the-fact.

Uh-huh.

Where Eagles dare, heroes fall.

For McCain, though, ignorance is bliss.

He'll ride through it all unscathed, I just betcha.

After all, that soldier boys's got missiles up his a**.

Just like in the movies, John always got the girl..

Barack Obama...burned in effigy! American race relations still in question...

Just when it appeared that race relations in the United States were improving, startling news has filtered out of a small Christian (!) University in Newberg (Oregon), that disputes that fact.

Overnight, a cardboard image of presidential candidate - Barack Obama - was strung from a tree on campus and set ablaze.

Faculty members and students alike at George Fox University were shocked at the disturbing turn of events.

In the wake of the unexpected drama, a handful of concerned residents sadly recalled the days of the "lynchings" of blacks in America's troubled past.

Many were furious that the senseless acts of a few succeeded in casting a dark shadow over the hallowed grounds of their upstanding learning institution.

A spokesman for the University noted for the record that he has been employed at George Fox for over two decades - and that during the duration - there has never been any "overt racial act".

Maybe the idea of an Afro-American president still doesn't sit well with some Christian white folks in Oregon?

No, the times they are not necessarily a-changing!

John Edwards...Oh, my gosh! Had an afffair. More like Kennedy than I thought!

John primps for love tryst...

There must be something about Politics that revs up the old libido.

But - somehow - everyone thought that Edwards was a different kind of stud - um - breed of horse (in that regard, anyway).

To many, he gave the impression of being a loving husband and family man.

Golly - when I compared him to a charismatic John Kennedy - I was closer to the target than I ever imagined.

After all, John Kennedy was such a womanizer.

As George would say in - "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" - what archery!

After all, it's just been reported that John Edwards had a clandestine "affair".

Apparently - when the handsome Presidential Candidate was first confronted with the allegations - he dismissed the so-called gossip as "Tabloid Trash".

On the heels of the startling revelations now, many are irked by the fact he gave the stalwart impression that he was a forthright husband standing by his cancer-stricken wife.

Golly, there have been allegations that he fathered a child, too.

But, he's off the hook on that one.

A former campaign staff member stepped forward and acknowledged he is the father.

Sounds like this young lady was passed around, doesn't it?

The seedy goings-on along the campaign trail sure titillate!

Edwards confessed that he disclosed the tawdry details to his wife and family long ago. Then, shame-faced, he revealed he hoped the knowledge of the love tryst would never see the light of day.

An ABC News feature intends to report this evening that Edwards lied repeatedly about the affair with 42-year-old Rielle Hunter. And, that he has admitted that Tabloid reports that he secretly met with Hunter at the Beverly Hills Hilton, were actually true.

"In 2006, I made a serious error in judgment and conducted myself in a way that was disloyal to my family and to my core beliefs. I recognized my mistake, and I told my wife that I had a liaison with another woman, and I asked for her forgiveness. Although I was honest in every painful detail with my family, I did not tell the public."

He added that he was ashamed of his conduct and the choices he made with regard to his supportive family.

"I took responsibility for my actions back then. I take full responsibility now, publicly."

But, he has not stepped forward, without a lot of soul-searching.

"In the course of several campaigns, I started to believe that I was special and became increasingly egocentric and narcissistic. If you want to beat me up feel free. You cannot beat me up more than I have already beaten up myself. I have been stripped bare and will now work with everything I have to help my family and others who need my help.

David Bonior - who managed Edwards' bid for the presidency - acknowledged to the press he was not only disappointed, but angry.

"Thousands of friends of the senator's and his supporters have put their faith and confidence in him, and he's let them down," said Bonior.

"They've been betrayed by his action."

Asked whether the affair would damage Edwards' future aspirations in public service, Bonior astutely noted for the record,

"You can't lie in politics and expect to have people's confidence."

The whole fiasco makes him look like such a hypocrite, too.

After all, when Edwards was a Senator, he made some pretty disparaging remarks about President Clinton and his affair with Monica Lewinsky.

"I think this president has shown a remarkable disrespect for his office, for the moral dimensions of leadership, for his friends, for his wife, for his precious daughter. It is breathtaking to me the level to which that disrespect has risen."

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black!

There are also hints of some other improprieties, too.

Edwards' political action committee allegedly paid $100,000 (in a four-month span) to a firm run by Hunter to direct Web videos showing Edwards in candid moments.

But things get curiouser.

The payments to - "One America Committee to Midline Groove Productions LLC" - started just five days after Hunter incorporated the firm in Delaware.

The initial six-figure payment was followed with two smaller payments totaling $14,461 on the first day of April in 2007.

Sounds like pay for play, doesn't it?

Well, as I always said,

A stiff di** has no conscience!
